    vegan chocolate biscoff cake

absolutely delicious, creative, sweet-but-not-too-sweet goodies! the vegan selection is consistent and not an afterthought like you can tell it is in some bakeries. absolutely loved the vegan chocolate biscoff trifle, it made me want to try everything that cat bakes because you know it's all going to be that level of good!

If i can rate this 10, i would!! I was so excited when we found out that they sell Malasadas on Fridays. Glad i called first to inquire Oct 23. I spoke with the owner, Cat, who was super pleasant and accomodating on the phone. So, she told me that it us online ordering at least a couple days before and pick up at the Paper Moon cafe. Since i was calling that friday morning, there was no way i thought that we'd be able to do our traditional wedding anniversary celebration that involves eating malasadas. I shared with her that we would notmally be in Hawaii at Leonard's eating our favorite malasadas on our anniversary. I thought we would have to break the tradition.... Until.... she had offered to make an exception and make us some so we can pick it up the next day, our anniversary!!! As you all can imagine, i was ecstatic and smiling from ear to ear!! How can this angel just be so sweet and do that for us... we are so forever grateful! Even though we couldn't make this trip to HI this year due to covid, we managed to bring HI here and still celebrate. It was just so special! Thank you again, Catherine, for your kindness and consideration... for making those delicious malasadas with LOVE! They are soooo perfect!!!

Every year my family takes a Hawaii trip and the first thing we do is grab Leonard's Malasadas. Sadly that won't be happening this year but I was ecstatic to see Muchjoy Bakehouse serving up FRESH ones on Fridays 2 miles away from me. I got a box of 12 for myself and stupidly left it unchecked on the kitchen counter. I came back 20 minutes later and all but 4 were gone! There's only 3 of us in the house so unless there's a parasite living underneath the property they are good enough to stuff 4 in your mouth under 20 minutes. The 4 I ate were fantastic. I saved 1 for the next day (admire my willpower) and just 15 seconds in the microwave with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is divine. Myself, roommates, and the parasite are all fans of these malasadas.

I found Muchjoy when they participated in #BakersAgainstRacism. A local baker using their talents to raise money and awareness towards social justice? I knew I had to try. I ordered their Orange Zest Chocolate scones and fell in love. Cat, the owner, is truly talented. You can tell she uses quality ingredients and that she truly cares about each of her bakes. When my birthday came around I ordered the strawberry pie. It sucked to have a birthday in Covid times away from my friends, but Cat's pie made me feel like I was on a sweet summery picnic! It was a real highlight of my day! I can't wait to try more of her goods!

I get rightfully extra excited anytime Cat is back in the baking business because my husband and I absolutely adore her baked goods!! This time we ordered her Power Muffins (tried and true and loved again and again in our household!) and her Hokkaido Milk Bread (I generally hate dense bread but something about this one paired with a delicious fruit jam or Nutella and bananas or *gasp* cookie butter(!!!) is just absolute perfection. Please support your small businesses always but ESPECIALLY in these times and please know that Cat partners with local nonprofits and coalitions in the Bay Area to support the community so baked goods for a great cause, what more could you ask for??? Looking forward to our next order as we attempt to try everything on her menu :D

I've tried many of her baked goods, my faves are the Malasadas and the cakes so far (sorry no photos) :( But that Matcha frosting with dark chocolate cake is just delicious. I'd like to try all the other flavors! I was able to request and order a special cake, matcha frosting on matcha cake for a birthday celebration and Cat was able to fulfill that request. I also just love her simple yet understated recycle-friendly all paper packaging, and presentation as well. Thank you for all the treats! Thanks to Much Joy Bakehouse for providing a chance for us to participate in the fundraiser towards the Hero tent as well as satisfy our sweet tooth!

One queue was for online orders (recommended by the bakehouse) and the other was manned by an attendant with a tablet and a printed menu. Parking wasn't a hassle this time as there were plenty of spots. Add the fact that we were now familiar with Vietnam Town. We got our usuals with choux (Kaya and Ube), Pandan-Coconut Milk Bread and Banh Bo (honeycomb cake). The mention worthy Guava filled Mochi Cake was so good! A yummy tip that elevates this baked good was when I toasted it (4 minutes) in an airfryer. The crunchy surface with the chewy mochi texture plus the sweet guava stuffing was the perfect ratio I was looking for in a dessert pastry. Can't wait to go back and have more of the guava filled goodness!

We ordered the bánh bò (honeycomb cake), guava filled mochi cake, and espresso cookie. I absolutely loved the bánh bò. It was soft, bouncy, and flavorful, as it should be. I would definitely get this again. The guava filled mochi cake was okay. I sort of wish the guava filling was spread around the more. I would not recommend the espresso cookie. It was an odd combination of flavors. It wasn't burnt but tasted like it/bitter and heavy on the butter. I would come back for the bánh bò for sure though!

It is located next to the grocery store Nobhill and there are quick 20min parking in front of the store. We were greeted right when we entered the door and looked at the delicious treats to eat. The sign in front of the store had some drink specials and I got a strawberry/matcha drink I think it was called Rose. I asked what was good here and the cashier said the mini almond pastries and other treats in the front. The mini almond pastry was really good and also got a crème brûlée which was really good as well. I would come back again and try their hot teas next time. Delicious treats. I highly recommend…read moreit for people who don't want to deal with the line that understandably goes out the door. The food is worth the wait. Don't sleep on the black pepper sausage danish: the croissant dough is crisp and flaky, and doesn't get soggy when baked around the sausage. It's comparable in execution to the Croissant Hot Dog served at Dominique Ansel Las Vegas (in Caesar's Palace), but at a way more accessible price point. Which isn't to say this place is cheap; like many artisanal bakeries in California, it comes with a premium price tag, but at least it's not Dominique Ansel pricy. Croissante's croissant dough baked goods (viennoiserie) is pun-intended "proof" that you get what you pay for. The dining space is limited and lively. Conversing is a little tough, but if you just need a place to sit while eating, it's just right. Extra special shout out this time to Dill who had informed me the fried chicken dishes today would be an hour and a half wait. After deciding there wasn't anything I wanted more than the Fried Chicken and Spiced Croffle (croissant dough baked in a waffle iron) and was happy to wait, they were nice enough to check in with the kitchen and see if it could be made sooner than that. I didn't expect to be accommodated, so I was happy they were able to do that. You get two chicken thighs and croffles per order. It's enough for two light eaters to share.

I ended getting two ham and cheese croissants, pistachio bow tie croissant and the matcha pan suisse (scored the last one!). I'll say it but it was hard to decide on an order because they take everything down before you even get to see the whole display. Everything was delicious but I did not anticipate the total. It was around $36 for 4 items.

Even the malasadas were underwhelming and if you think they are similar to Leonard's, then this does not come close. For the Portuguese tarts, they were served a bit cold. I'd recommend reheating them. The crust was so oily it seeped through the napkin and the filling was overly sweet. I took one bite and couldn't finish it. Overall, the texture and flavor didn't meet expectations. Service was decent but the staff were not friendly. This was a bit of a letdown.
