Mt. Bagel is my go to bagel spot in Seattle! The bagels are fresh, delicious and taste good day of or reheated in the microwave after being frozen. Pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds, add cream cheese and you're set! I usually go on a Wednesday or Thursday morning right when they open, and there is usually a small line, but I never have to wait too long. Their service is quick and the workers are very friendly. If you do have to wait in line, everyone waiting with you are also friendly and chatty. A great little bakery in a residential area that is worth the drive and the wait.
Finally made here. Was meeting a friend in the Mount Baker neighborhood for lunch so decided to go early to grab some bagels for my friend and I. At 9:30 ish on a Saturday there were probably about ten people in front of me. It's a good sign when I have New Yorkers in front and behind me. People around me said the cookies were good so added one to my dozen bagels. Got two of each except the everything. Actually like that they don't cut them thinking it probably keeps them fresher. There are two individuals handling orders in the small space one takes your order and packages your bagel while the other rings you up. Both are friendly and helpful I was giving half a dozen to my friend so I asked for an extra bag to put them into later. Didn't have one the day of but enjoyed one the next day just plain and torn still fresh with great chew. If timing worked out again definitely would stop by.
Visited Mt Bagel on a Friday morning around 11 am to a wide selection. I ordered a sesame bagel with the spicy scallion cream cheese, and a couple salt bagels to go. My friend tried an everything and also thought it was delicious! The salt bagels were my favorite and saved well for the next day. My only complaint is that the only cream cheese option is an 8 oz. It was nice to take home, but it does slightly require you to buy extra bagels. The cream cheese itself was really tasty and flavorful. It was just quite expensive ($9) for an unnecessarily large size.
This is one of my favorite spots for bagels now! I'd come here closer to opening time and don't let the line intimidate you too much it does move pretty fairly. It was my first time here on the weekend and I will be back. Although it's in a neighborhood, there's plenty of parking around. The workers here are so nice. The cookie is literally the perfect cookie, chewy and not too thick. I loved the salt flakes they added on top. You have to try it. The only thing I wouldn't grab again is probably the onion it was a little bit bitter to my liking - but the everything and garlic is my favorite one here. I got the spicy scallion cream cheese and it was perfectly seasoned and consistency. Love and a must if you're in the area or not, it's worth it.
Cool bagel shop located in the middle of a residential neighborhood perched on a giant hillside. Bagels were delicious and so was the spicy scallion cream cheese. Highly recommend. Also got cold brew coffee which was also delicious. No seating though :(
I had heard that this is one of the best bagel shops in Seattle, so I needed to try it. It is in a residential area with no designated parking. This is a grab and go place. There are no tables or seats. Their bagel flavors include plain, salt, garlic, onion, poppy, and everything. I tried the salt bagel but should've gotten plain because it was way too salty for me. It has lots of salt bits all around the bagel. I think it would be good paired with eggs or something to balance out the saltiness. For texture, the outer layer was a bit tough to tear, and the inside was chewy and soft. Definitely recommend eating the bagel the same day or freezing it. They also sell cream cheese - plain, scallion, and spicy scallion. I only tried the spicy scallion, which has a good kick, not too spicy. Definitely grab a chocolate chip cookie too! I love the taste and the texture. I tried many chocolate chip cookies from different bake shops throughout Seattle, and this one is in my top two.
This place lived up to the rave reviews. We arrived 10 minutes before opening on a Saturday to find a short line (about 10 people in front of us) but the line moved quickly once they opened. The staff were lovely and did a wonderful job of keeping everything organized. We got two everything bagels and a spicy scallion cream cheese which was outstanding. The bagel was fluffy and so fun to pull apart. We even had a lot of leftover cream cheese which inspired us to eat bagels for the next few days. Not a lot of space to eat near the establishment, but the arboretum is close by and we enjoyed our breakfast on a park bench. It's around a 10 minute walk depending on how far you go, but would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
It's definitely a top-three or four bagel spot in Seattle. The bagels are a nice size, with a little bit of tear and a fluffy but moist interior. The bagels are good (as I said, top three or four), but the schmears are the flavor bombs you seek--not many flavors, but well made. It's best to order in advance and then pick up the items at this kitchen on the first floor of a residential house. Staff is friendly and hard working, and you can tell they love what they are doing.
An excellent bagel place in an unassuming location (an old Victorian style house). This place is to-go only; many people were sitting outside and eating on the sidewalk. I thought the bagels were excellent. The crust was substantive and the interior was nice and chewy. I got a half-dozen with schmear which was $24-25. I do feel that's pretty expensive for bagels however they were very good, and the staff clearly does an exceptional job. I'd come back if I was in the area.
Some of my favorite bagels in Seattle! They're perfect, to the point where I can overlook the fact that they don't do sandwiches or offer a slice/toast option. While I wish they had those things, I'm just grateful these bagels exist here. I wouldn't really recommend getting a tub of cream cheese since it feels a bit overpriced, but if you want to treat yourself, go for it. Personally, I'd rather use what I already have at home or grab something more affordable from the store. The workers are always so kind, friendly, and welcoming, which makes me want to keep coming back.
So far this is my favorite bagel in Seattle. It's very nice, fluffy but chewy and soft inside, crispy crust, lots of seeds. I'd still like it to be more dense inside dough with a pull. It lacks a pull of the dough I normally like. It's fluffy but not bready. It's nice. The cream cheese was also very flavorful and generous portion. It was like $9 buck though. The shop is in a neighborhood and unassuming house. You could just pass on by and not realized. I love neighborhood places. They also just do bagels. No sandwiches.
A really solid bagel, and for a really great price! After Hey Bagel opened up I figured it was finally about time to come here and see how it compares. The journey up here is quite the hike, but when I arrived the line was too outrageously long, and it moved pretty quick. I got an everything bagel to go, and warmed it up in the air fryer before eating. It had a really nice crust with a good amount of seeds and salt, while the inside remained soft. The flavor was sourdough-esque, and tasted really good! They also have "uglier" bagels for only $1 - I'll definitely get some of those next time. I also heard great things about their cookies, so I'll be sure to be back!
I hope the gravity of what I'm about to say is being conveyed accurately through this review, but this was THE best bagel I have ever eaten. I grew up on Long Island so I say this with great thought and consideration. The toppings were and evenly spread out through the entire outside of the bagel, even the bottom, and finely chopped so each bite was perfectly balanced. The outside was perfectly chewy and firm while the inside was the fluffiest bagel bread I've had. I felt like this was a true authentically made bagel. The bagel itself was so good, which is often times harder to come by because sometimes the bagel is just a vehicle for the cream cheese. But in this case, the bread itself came with so much delicious flavor that perfectly complemented the cream cheese. as far as the cream cheese itself, I only have good things to say too. I tried the spicy scallion cream cheese and was odd by how perfectly spicy it was. The texture was so light and fluffy, you could tell it was handmade, and it almost felt whipped! And to top it all off each tub came with a cute hand, drawn, unique design that made the experience even more enjoyable. they know their bagels are good and that no other frills are needed. They don't exactly slice the bagel, or serve it with individual schmear -- instead they will provide a tub of your cream cheese of choice as well as whole bagels by the each or dozen. you should be prepared that there is no seating inside of the establishment so you will have to take it to go.
ohmygosh! the spicy scallion cream cheese is so good with everything bagel and sesame bagel. i wish it the bagels were kept warm but overall bagels were chewy:) by 10 am there's barely any bagels so go early if you want to try the plain, onion, or garlic bagels. the cashier is really sweet lady. it's in madison park area, so nice to walk around the neighborhood. read more
These were the best bagels that I've had anywhere outside of New York City. Note though that the line for bagels forms long before the store opens at 9 AM when I showed up on Friday at 9:15 AM they were already about 25 or 30 people ahead of me in line. It wasn't until about 9:55 that it was able to reach the counter to place my order. read more

Was excited to finally try Mt Bagel as we live more than an hour away, and as a bagel aficionado who makes his own NY-style bagels (water boiled, malt barley syrup) wanted to try what I've heard to be one of Seattle's best bagels. Got a sesame, onion, and a couple of garlic bagels. The crumb itself was not dense like NY style nor too stiff like chain bagels (Panera, Einstein). The outside is firm but the inside is a little "hollow" so I guess this is a PNW style. Not bad but a little confusing. What got to us was how burnt and bitter the garlic topping was. It was hard to get past the bitterness, as baked/toasted garlic is tricky to work with. The onion and sesame were better. read more
Tried the salt and plain bagels with scallion cream cheese and everything was absolutely divine. Easily better than most NYC establishments I've been to. The only problem with Mt. Bagel is the crazy wait in line and the fact that they sell out all the time. read more

Wow! Instantly fell in love with these bagels. What I loved about these bagels is that they really fluffy and spongy and unlike other bagels out there these don't feel like you are eating a jaw breaker. I arrived at 8:30 on a Wednesday and I was the 3rd person in line. The line quickly filled up after that. read more
Mt bagel is a very small storefront shop for the real basics: bagels + cream cheese. Although you should expect a long wait outside (no chairs or sky cover), the bagels themselves are fantastic. The bread is super fluffy and flavorful and the crust is perfectly baked. There's a larger variety of bagels but three cream cheese options: plain, scallion, and spicy scallion. They have nice local drinks in the fridge + coffee. read more
My first (and most important) task when moving to Seattle was to find my new bagel spot. This has become a weekly ritual to stop by and grab fresh baked bagels and cream cheese each week. The bagels are the perfect texture - nice and crusty on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. The staff is also incredibly kind and the line moves quick. My only advice is to go early since they sell out quickly or to order the week in advance for pickup! read more

I stumbled upon Mt. Bagel the first time when walking my dog near the Arboretum and seeing their SOLD OUT sign in front of the door. I made a note to return as soon as they opened the following week. I knew it had to be good, but I wasn't prepared to see a line down the block when I arrived. It was about a half hour wait for us this time as we arrived right upon opening, but everyone in line was polite and in good spirits waiting their turn. A few were regulars and they recommended the scallion cream cheese. I ended up not just getting one of each bagel and the cream cheese, I also got one of each cookie (they had lemon shortbread and sea salt chocolate chip at the counter). The BYOK concept was new to me so we made a beeline for the car after getting the goods, but after a short ride home, toasting, and creaming my bagel, I can now taste for myself what keeps locals coming back. These bagels are just the right amount of big, springy, chewy, and flavor. The scallion cream cheese had fresh chopped up pieces mixed just right throughout. Also the lid had a silly hand drawn design on it?! It made this Saturday morning feel like the day was meant to be perfect. I felt ready to take on the rest of my errands, given the scrumptious pleasant feelings in my taste buds and tummy. I didn't care much for bagels before but the Mt. Bagel experience today changed things. Go try out Mt. Bagel and experience the best of simple morning pleasures. read more

I wish I had tried Mt Bagels sooner! Out of all the bagel places I've visited in WA, this place is my absolute favorite. My favorites, ranked in order, are the sesame, plain, and everything seasoning. It's so worth the drive and the wait in line. Pro-tip: Sign up for the pre-orders to avoid missing out. read more
finally got to try the famed rip and dip seattle bagels. I'm obsessed w popup bagels in nyc and was curious as to whether these would hold a handle to those pillowy rounds of bliss. we arrived at ~10:30am and to our surprise, there was no line at all. That being said, we got some of the final bagels left. While the bagels weren't warm when we got them, they were fluffy and chewy with a good bite-- they were also evenly coated with seasoning. While I think the upcharge on scallion cc is a bit absurd, you really do get the perfect amount of cc on each bite. read more
Wow the most amazing bagels! Make sure to arrive early to get in line before opening! My personal favorites are the salt and the garlic bagel! And you have to get the spicy cream cheese! Staff were so friendly and can't wait to go back! read more
My favorite bagel place in Seattle! I was sad when they moved to Bend but glad to hear that they are back in Seattle. Their bagels are so great in texture and taste. Even after we freeze them, they still taste good after reheating. Their cream cheese was also amazing. I love that they have unique drawings on every container. read more
I would give this a 4.5/5 star experience. I admit however I am not the most experienced bagel person so keep that in mind with my review. The wait: arrived around 11 am Saturday and it was sunny and the wait was about 20-30 mins. The bagels: got a dozen and tried the everything, salt, garlic, and onion bagels. My favorites in order were everything, salt, onion, then garlic. Crisp outside and very chewy and soft Insides. Shared with friends, one who lived in nyc and said that the bagels are very good. I say bagel quality is like a 9/10 overall. These will smell up anything you keep them in with the great bagel smells! The cream cheese: got all three options. You should really only buy the spicy scallion and/or scallion. The regular cream cheese at $9 just isn't worth it. I'd say the same for the scallion cream cheese but I'm lazy so I know I'd never make my own but you should. I wish they had more options for breakfast bagel sandwiches or more cream cheeses or anything but I'm just lazy. It's great as is. read more

Such a hidden gym in a residential neighborhood in Madison Valley at the bottom of a big hill. I stopped by on a Wednesday around 10:30 AM and they had a good supply of bagels. I bought one bagel to try which was the garlic and it was probably operator error as I should've gotten the sea salt or the poppy. I think it was my personal taste that found the garlic granules too bitter, but the bagel was perfect - soft and fluffy on the inside and chewy and blistery on the outside. They did not have pumpernickel on Wednesdays I guess it's a Thursday thing, definitely very out-of-the-way but worth the stop if you are really good craving bagels. read more

We love Mt. Bagel and are so glad there is a storefront! We had been doing the very competitive Friday-noon-bagel-drop-delivery-orders, and now some weekends can grab fresh bagels from the shop. They allow you to order delivery for the next week at noon Fridays (you gotta be quick on the computer!!!) or there are limited bagels you can go pick up in store Tues-Sat. The store just sells bagels and cream cheese -- no option for sandwiches. They're keeping it simple, and we're happy with that as long as the bagels stay fresh and delicious. This is our favorite bagel shop in Seattle. The bagels are so fluffy and have a great texture. They season both sides of the bagel so if you're splitting a bagel in half there's no "worse" half! Our only request is more cream cheese options! Spicy Scallion is really interesting and yummy but a tough one to eat a lot of. read more

Food: bagels are fantastic. Fresh and soft. Service: very kind group of people The line started an hour before they opened. And it was about an hour long to get to the front and finally order. I unfortunately didn't take a picture of the cream cheese spreads but the spicy scallion one was my favorite- get it! read more

It's really hard for me to give this place a good review. Yes, the bagels are tasty, but the way they run their store is, to me, almost criminal. Waiting in line for Mt Bagel feels like waiting in line for bread during the great depression, only to get to the front to be told "sorry, ran out." Luckily, I made the cut off right before, but my heart aches for those right behind me. In this day and age, it's inexcusable to run your shop in such an excruciatingly inefficient and nontransparent way. 1) Their storefront is only about 30 sq. ft. big, so most people need to wait outside. Rain or shine. Hot or cold. Wait outside. They don't care about you, the customer, enough to invest in a better system. Get sick. We just want your money. 2) They don't tell you they're running out until... well... they run out. "Less than a dozen left folks! Sorry!" If I could initiate a chargeback on my time, I would do that in a heartbeat. Bait and switch, anyone? 3) No parking lot or bathroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere close to here, having my street clogged up every morning by random cars. If I could give a low-cost suggestion, at least create a ticketing system so folks can wait in their cars. Even the DMV has that! But hey, that's just me. If you're happy to wait, and have nothing better to do, then feel free to stand in that line and get your $3 bagel. read more

Best bagels in Seattle! Honestly I was skeptical, but these are the best bagels I've ever had in Washington and I've had real authentic New York bagels. The sesame was generously covered in seeds, and the inside was soft pillowy deliciousness. We were first in line as we arrived 45 minutes before opening. When we left the line was insane! I Before I tried the bagels, I told my friend that this was a one time deal and I would never drive to Seattle and line up for bagels again. I changed my mind. It is worth it! read more
