I love Mr Tea Cafe! I stop by whenever I'm in the area to get my bubble tea fix. I've tried lots of bubble tea shops over the years and this is one of my favorites! I usually order either the Earl Grey or matcha milk tea, unsweetened, with almond milk and boba. Their boba adds a bit of sweetness to the drink and is cooked perfectly. If you don't like boba, they offer a bunch of different toppings like custard and pudding. Definitely check this place out if you like bubble tea! read more

I "mustache" another matcha custard and boba combo from Mr. Tea Cafe!!! I never knew the true essence of a delicious matcha until I tried one from this cafe. Even though the parking was a little troublesome to find, I finally found my way into the brightly lit cafe and begun my quest into greatness. One thing that caught my eye was the petite display of macaroons, they looked a lot similar to the ones from la tour cafe, but definitely more expensive . I was intrigued by the toppings usually found at most milk tea establishments, so I tried the custard boba combo and decided the matcha would pair well. Let me tell you, that matcha is to die for! Definitely a "real" taste of green tea, and strong if you like it in that taste; however, the custard is the real hidden jewel. In other establishments, the custard is either too sweet or it hardly has any taste...but at Mr. Tea, the flavor is actually smooth but robust in a way that it adds to the matcha and prevents that green tea after taste. It was so great, I finished my large drink in 15 minutes which is a record for me. The passion fruit and boba was okay, it was quite sweet as expected, and just as my hubby enjoys it; however, a bit too much for my taste. I do hope that Mr. Tea continues to expand its flavor menu and introduce some interesting milk teas, perhaps a hazelnut one....then, I would be able to say "I'm in heaven".... read more

Although there are so many milk tea shops in Hawaii, Mr Tea Cafe is by far my favorite. Everytime I come I'm greeted by a warm and friendly staff. Even though the staff members are quite young, they are very professional. On my first visit I was recommended the Oolong Milk Tea with coffee jelly and now that is my order everytime I come. The drinks aren't very sugary so the tea flavor is very distinct. Most of the tea shops I go to serve drinks that taste like sugar water. I've been coming here since their opening and I must say that I really enjoy their drinks and the atmosphere in there. This is my usual go to place if I just want a drink and to do some chit chat with some friends. I would say the only downside of this place is the parking structure, but if it wasn't for that I would of given this place a higher review. This place has the best milk tea I've ever had! It actually tastes like good quality tea without being overpowering!! The sweetness is perfect and they put lots of boba. Their mango smoothie only gets three stars, but I'm giving it five stars since it's a milk tea place, not a smoothie shop. I ordered the mango smoothies for my kids thinking they wouldn't like the milk tea taste. Little did I know, my 10-year-old and 12-year-old ended up drinking my tea! Their decor is very contemporary and clean. Sitting in there looking out you don't even notice you're at a busy intersection. There's a nice sidewalk and some grass and trees and their tinted windows work perfectly to take you away so you can relax and enjoy your milk tea. Parking is also wonderful as they have stalls in the condo they're located in. They have an adequate number of stalls and also a back door from the parking garage into the shop so you don't have to go all the way around the building to the outside. I'm going to pay all night for drinking all that tea today at 3 o'clock in the afternoon! But guess who's going back for another milk tea first thing tomorrow morning after she drops the kids off at school? I'll need some caffeine after staying up all night tonight! :) read more

So I have come around since 2015, I don't know if Mr. Tea got better or their competitors failings just made them seem so but def my go to milk tea place the past year or two. I'm not going to say they are prefect but generally speaking they are consistently drinkable and hit the spot and my kid loves their macaroons. Occasionally you will hit a bad new employee there who messes up the drinks, catches an attitude, etc but it's rare (yet common enough I feel the need to point it out as it's noticeable). One thing I want to say on this review which is highly positive is I love their hours and location good as well. One minor negative thing is I wish they grasped the concept of how to manually do less/more sugar that the four presets, i.e. 0/25/50/75/100, if I say "20" that means 25 and just pull it out early, etc. Nobody is going to measure it exactly and what I'm really saying is "Setting one isn't sweet enough, setting two is too sweet, how about you make it in the middle". Decided to finally try this new place after repeatedly seeing pictures of it on Instagram. I couldn't help myself so I made it a point to try this "Mr. Tea." At first, I was intimidated by what looked like limited parking from yelp and the directions on their website. Don't let this stop you from trying here. I made it there a little after 5pm on a Tuesday evening so it wasn't busy at all, which was quite nice. If you're having trouble finding the parking, there's parking in several places, which I found in the back of the building. What's nice is that they have a sign with the Mr. Tea logo leading you straight to where you need to be. If you're coming from Queen Street by American Savings Bank, take a left onto Ward Avenue, then pass Kawaihao Street, and take a right onto Waimanu. The parking should be to the garage on your immediate left once you make that right turn. There are several marked stalls "customer parking" where you can park. I parked in the stall closest to the door, which had a fat sign on it, which was nice, since I didn't have to go searching for it. Once you open that door, you'll be taken in by a nice A/C climate, where you'll be greeted by the friendly staff ( I counted 2). The girls there recommended the matcha milk tea with boba, which was a nice choice. The milk tea was as I was expecting. Not too strong nor too bland. Just the right sweetness that I like it. The boba is good if you like it chewy and not too sweet. For my taste, I tend to like it a little bit more on the sweeter side. On my second visit, I tried the black tea milk tea with azuki and boba. I haven't had a drink with any kind of bean before, so this was something new. The azuki beans, milk tea and boba certainly did compliment each other and is definitely a must try. Be warned though that it does make it significantly sweeter (obviously) Overall, I think I'll be coming to this place again to try something new. They have macaroons too! If you like milk tea, I recommend this place. They currently have a limited menu as they have just opened recently, so expect there to be more choices soon. read more

They have a soft grand opening going on. Decor is simple and clean and reminds me of Korean style cafes. We tried the black milk tea with boba, a matcha green tea with coffee jelly, and a coffee, yuzu, and salted caramel macaron and all flavors were spot on. First of all when I go anywhere I love to be greeted and welcomed. And Mr. Tea cafe has that. Friendly and welcoming staff always welcoming me in with a smile. They make the experience at the cafe personal and fun. They are also quick and efficient on making their drinks. I love their decor, it's cozy! Now to their products, love that they use quality. Out of laziness I've been a faithful Taste Tea customer, but today I tried Mr. Tea & I don't think I'll be going back to that other place. Drinks at Mr. Tea are ice cold & delicious. Definitely the best tasting I've had on island. They have all kinds of different toppings as well. Macaroons are good too! Parking might be tricky, but it's definitely worth it. This place is cute. They have milk tea, and I'm not entirely sure what that is, but it seems like really sweet milk of all flavors - not sure where the tea comes in. I got strawberry, which tasted just like strawberry milk. And they do this thing where you can get your tea "potted" meaning they top it with oreo crumbles and a sprig of mint so it looks like a plant. That is purely for the novelty. Not sure this is my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal of it. The parking here is horrible. They only have like 5 spots in the garage and the security guard is so rude if you don't know where to park. I pulled in the wrong spot - because none of them are marked, and the guard yelled at me that "I can't park there because its a loading zone and its too early". Mind you it was 9:30PM and nothing said "loading zone". Also none of the spaces indicate which spots are for the cafe. After 5 minutes of questions and the guard verbally attacking me I finally found out where I was allowed to park. I even told the guard it would have been better if he was more polite and just told me which space to park in from the start. read more

I came here one night last week to try bubble tea with my boyfriend. As a first timer, the server walked me through the menu so I could get an idea of how to order and what I might like to add to my drink. She even gave me a sample of some of the additions so I could choose the one I liked best. I ended up with a vanilla drink with custard inside, and it was delicious! I found the service to be very friendly, helpful, and efficient. I wish I had the name of the girl who helped me, as I felt she went above and beyond to make my experience a positive one. The atmosphere was also relaxed and friendly, and the art on the walls was fun too! Overall this was a great first experience and I would gladly return and recommend this cafe. The store just opened at that time) I complained about the noise through Square (I got the digital receipt) and the owner gave me a refund! Good customer service! This place just became my FAVORITE boba spot in Hawaii! Since my family has a boba shop back home in Cali, I have a certain standard when it comes to getting boba from other places. First thing I noticed was that they had almond milk tea! That's my favorite flavor and for some reason a lot of boba places in Hawaii don't serve it... Second thing I loved was that they had a wide variety of toppings and they ask you how sweet you want your drink. I came into Mr. Tea after a long day of studying. It was definitely a stressful and hectic day. I was in an awful mood until I walked in. The store had great music and cute paintings. I usually go to Taste Tea but they close at 11. I walked up to the register and was greeted but a tall boy with long hair. He was friendly and helped me pick out a drink. I ended up picking the Black milk tea and I really liked it! The girl that made my drink brought it fast and she thanked me after I received it. I was glad that Mr. Tea was open until midnight to make my awful day less awful. I will definitely keep coming back for the fast service and cute boys. The only thing is that parking and seating is limited. Other than that, great store! read more
