A somewhat overrated milk tea place that still has something to offer, but it is really riding off of that mustache logo and modern cafe ambiance. Don't get me wrong, their milk tea is ok, but I see that powdered milk tea mix behind the counter. The best redeeming factor here is their haupia topping for your boba. The haupia was rich with coconut goodness and brought some Hawaiian flare to my milk tea. I really enjoyed their toppings. The milk tea was average however and could use improvements. Hmmm new bubble tea shops seem to be popping up everywhere around Honolulu! Cute little spot located on Kapiolani. It's nice that they have seats outside too. The menu is in the works I believe. When I went in they had they're "Soft Opening" menu on the board with Milk Tea, Teas and Smoothies. I was going to go for a Passionfruit smoothie but when I asked if the fruit for the smoothie is fresh fruit the cashiers response was, "It's syrup". I appreciated her honesty; however, it would be nice if they could make they're smoothies from fresh fruit though rather than pre-made fruit syrup. I opted for a Regular Milk Tea ($3.50) with boba (.50; all add-ons like coffee jelly, bobba, custard, aloe, etc are .50) and a Blueberry Cheesecake Macaroon (provided by La Tour Cafe) ($2.25) (Total: $6.45 with tax). A little pricey for bubble tea. The tea was nice and strong (a little too watered down and sugary for my taste though), and the boba had just the right amount of chew; a nice accompiament. I'm sure I'll be back once the menu is expanded to offer other cooling indulgences. read more

Mr. Tea became an instant go-to once they opened. There were A LOT of tea places opening up around the same time Mr. Tea did but I loved their black milk tea after my first visit. How could anyone not want to try this place with such an adorable logo too! Love the mustache. It will grow on you over time, trust me. Every time I go to Mr. Tea, it is always a pleasurable experience. The staff is always friendly and everything on their menu is good from their tea to their smoothies. Unfortunately this will not be a five-star review (3/4 stars) due to my last visit where I ordered a milk tea and a pastry. I had their blueberry scone and the girl at the register asked if I wanted it to be heated up. I said yes, and when I got it in a brown bag, I left and started heading back to work. As I was walking, I opened the bag to take a bite of my scone, only to find out that it was heated up in a microwave with the saran wrap still on. It was very hot, and it had melted the plastic wrap because it clung to the scone which made it difficult to rip off. I was a bit shocked. Even if they use microwave-safe plastic wrap, I don't think anyone would want melted plastic on their food even if it's "safe" but that's just a personal opinion of course. I would have felt better if it didn't stick to the scone. But other than that, like I mentioned, the tea is always good. Definitely going to come back for more drinks but as far as pastries go, I will pass! read more

Perhaps my favorite place for milk tea. The tea tastes freshly brewed. The boba is soft and fresh. You can specify the level of sweetness. Place is clean. Service is fast. The smoothies are made of powder - so don't come here if you want good smoothies. read more

I've frequented Taste Tea many times simply because all of my friends love to go there. Personally there teas tastes cheap and cloyingly sweat. Their staff is also very cold and unfriendly, but it was convenient so I dealt with it. Mr. Tea Café however was the complete opposite and I was really blown away. The moment I walked through the door I was greeted with a chorus of hellos and welcomes from the staff. I was also given a quick and very helpful rundown of the menu from the all smiles worker. I ended up getting the Jasmine milk tea with Custard and a chocolate macaroon. The Tea was perfect and exactly how true Taiwanese milk tea should taste. The pudding was also very smooth and balanced the sweetness of my drink perfectly. I was so shocked with the quality of the tea that I asked one of the workers what kind of tea they used. The worker could not tell me the exact name of the tea but he did inform me that they use one of the highest-grade teas on the market. This made me very happy to know that their ingredients were not cheap. They clearly care about the quality of their products and the happiness of there customers. The macaroon was also very delicious and I could distinctly taste the chocolate unlike some places that sell macaroons. This cute little milk teashop is now one of my favorite places to frequent. Also all of my friends love the atmosphere and tea and we will be frequenting this establishment daily. read more

I came back here after awhile and I am disappointed. I chose to come to Mr. Tea because of their wifi and their drink quality plus the atmosphere of the place, and to finish my work. However, the internet here did not let my laptop and my phone connected to, somehow except my ipad. Other customers that use Mac laptop seemed using the wifi completely fine. Is this some kind of internet that discriminate PC devices? Just kidding and I hope not. Anyway, I had to connect to the TWC Wifi that allows me to use for only 30 minutes. Great new and modern cafe to get teas and snacks in the Ward area. I think they have 10-12 parking stalls in the back of the shop. We were lucky to beat the lunch rush n got our order of matcha milk tea n black milk tea quickly. It wasn't sweat n was perfect size for my GF n me. Another new milk tea place that I have been meaning to try. Their location is somewhat convenient with limited parking stalls inside the building. On the day that I went, all the stalls were taken so I had to go inside to grab my drink while my bf waits for me in the car. I ordered the roasted oolong milk tea with added chia seeds. I've heard that chia seeds were really healthy so I wanted to try it out. Bad idea...because they were really hard to chew. It eventually made my jaw a little numb because it literally takes a lot of effort to bite into them x_x Anyways, the taste of the milk was really good in my opinion. I prefer the really strong taste of tea rather than it being bland. In conclusion, I would definitely come back but probably during a slower time so there's parking. read more

This place beats all of the bubble tea shops in Hawaii. The strawberry milk tea with rainbow jelly is so good!!! I've been craving it ever since I got it. Also the lychee smoothie with boba is really good as well. The boba tastes perfect. It doesn't have that weird after taste some places have. The price is really good as well. Some places charge $5-$6 for a drink and it's not even that good. This place is my new go-to bubble tea place. If you're near ward you should come down and get a drink from here. I've been here 3 times and every time I go I make sure to bring someone new with me. It's like sharing a hidden treasure! I love the atmosphere of this place. I wish they were bigger cafe so there could be more places to sit. Then this would be the ultimate hangout spot and it would always be even busier than they already are. Mr. Tea seems a bit on the hipster side of the Taiwanese tea shop boom, in a good way. There were some people there conducting business vs. some of these places that are packed with high school kids. They seemed to have a great variety of offerings but I always stick with my black milk tea, 25% sweetness, and boba. Delicious! I love Mr.Tea! It's super close to work so we order from there all the time, if you have a certain amount of people order they can deliver for you. So far I've had their roasted oolong tea, taro milk tea with ice cream, winter melon tea, and the cotton candy milk tea. So far my favorite is the winter melon milk tea. I really like Mr.Tea because they have so many choices for example you can have the regular Boba inside or you can have other things like grass jelly,haupia,or my favorite a scoop of ice cream and they also ask how sweet you want your drink. Had the jasmine milk tea with boba. The tea was great but the boba was ok. Should have gotten the coffee jelly instead. I liked the ability to choose the sweetness (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and that almond milk could be substituted for cow's milk. The décor is nice and bright and the service is quick.
