His quote was not the cheapest, but on much lower than most (especially ARS -- do not use them! He pointed out an error they would have made in their installation, plus they would have charged $2-3k more and tried to upsell me on several things). In any case, Bob installed our tankless water heater in a single morning and recycled the old one. He's prompt and courteous and highly experienced. His team got the 2 old hot water heaters removed, the 2 systems tied together and the tankless system installed in 4 hours. The Rinnai RUR160 has been working great. I selected him based largely on the reviews here. BIG MISTAKE! Pros: - Visited house same day I called and provided quote on the spot - Started work next day and finished install same day Cons: - Rushed, ugly install with pipes outside instead of in-wall - incorrect fittings inside house that were not to code for enclosing in dry wall (had another plumber correct) - NO HOT WATER to master shower. HE WAS UNABLE TO EVER SOLVE THIS PROBLEM (had to get another plumber to figure it out). - He bought a replacement shower cartridge while troubleshooting the lack of hot water and charged me for it (Delta provides them free as part of lifetime warranty - this plumber did not know that). - He left me without hot water in the master shower for several weeks while troubleshooting - he was always more interested in going to the next job instead of finishing ours. - He screwed up the permit application by entering the wrong address and wasted a lot of my time, his time, and city inspectors time because of it. Then he had the audacity to accuse me of not being there when the inspector came even though I had taken the day off work to be there. - He finally gave up on trying to fix the lack of hot-water to the shower. When I suggested that perhaps the thermal bypass was the problem he got very defensive and said he had checked that. - I had to proactively hound him to finalize the inspection (the job required on-the-spot corrections before the inspector would pass it). - He never once asked if I solved the lack of hot water to the shower problem. I did - with another plumber that knew what he was doing and removed the thermal bypass. Summary: Started strong and ended with a whiff. I usually don't bother with reviews but felt obliged to let others know in hopes it will prevent you from experiencing the frustrations I did. read more

We received bids from two other companies ... one that received the highest mark from Yelp ... the other was a company who did an excellent job tied to a new a/c system that was replaced in our home ... that also did tankless hot water heater replacement. We were in shock at the quotes but felt pressured into moving quickly to replace our current gas water heater due to its age and location in our attic ... a combination that could/would a disaster "in the making". My brother-in-law used Mr.Tankless for a similar repair and shared a story of Bob's professionalism, followup, and cost (compared to others). We contacted Bob and experienced the exact same thing. Thank goodness for Mr. Tankless! He is our hero and has saved the day. Bob and his team were able to come out and rescue us during the middle of a mini-remodel. Called Mr Tankless to fix tankless HWH. Came out and charged 300 to tell us all was fine. After he left system was not fine and kept tripping fuse. Wanted another 600 to come out and flush the system. Called Austin Texas Water Heaters who found the problem quickly, repaired it, and flushed the system for 500. Won't be calling Mr Tankless again for service. The problem was easy to find if they actually did anything for the 300 charged. The check we wrote was to Robert Lemons and the system is propane not electric. So your memory is less than accurate. read more

Bob was quick to respond to my phone call when both of our units shut down during the had freeze. After giving him the codes on the units he told me what they meant and he talked me through shutting them down properly. When one unit would not shut off he told me to handle it at the breaker. I appreciate the pre and post-installation support. I am satisfied with the service and the equipment that was installed. I contacted Mr. Tankless about installing two tankless water heaters on my daughters duplex in Austin. Robert responded quickly and we met several days later as I had to drive up from Galveston. He quoted a fair price, scheduled for the next week and came out and installed both heaters, piping, etc. starting at 8:00 and finishing ~ noon. Robert also provided an electrician which was great as none of the other companies could help with this. He also sent me photos of the installation as I haven't been up to check the installation in person yet. The installation looked very professional. Mr. Tankless was simply put: the best! We've been getting a (new to us) old house ready for move-in (foundation work to floor repairs) and Bob and his team have been the only easy and smooth experience of the whole process. Bob was responsive and informative -- and better yet, also cared about my concerns. We had to get two water heaters replaced and Mr. Tankless was able to come out and quote very quickly and then arrive on time (which we've increasingly found is apparently an oddity in the home repair world) and finish the work in one day and when he said he would. While we thought one of the old water heaters was going to require the destruction of a cabinet to get it out, Bob and his team were able to get it out without touching the cabinet -- that we can now use as storage because our new tankless water heater was moved to a better location for both ease of access and regaining storage. My 20 year old water tank needed to be replaced and I wanted to get a tankless water heater that would supply hot water fast to the 2 showers and a hot tub in my home. After talking with various contractors whose quotes ranged up to $13,000, who insisted that they would have to rip a hole in my garage wall, tear up my yard etc in order to get me what I wanted, I gave up. We really wanted to get rid of our old tank heater and get a tankless. Had Mr. Tanklesss come out and assess our situation. Turns out where our water heater is located, getting a tankless might not be the best option. He told us we could still get one, but it might not work as optimally and then we would have just paid for a very expensive tankless without the benefits. I thought that was very honest of him. Our tankless water heater sprung a leak and had to be turned off, so now no hot water. We picked Mr. Tankless based on the reviews and the appearance of specialization in tankless water heaters. We called and got an appointment. Bob showed early afternoon and inspected/found the issue. Tankless heater is old and he indicated that it may be difficult to find parts but he would look and call later in the afternoon. Also we asked a est for replacement. Well Bob never called later or the next day. 2 days now without hot water we had to call ARS. It's fixed now(replaced) but we wanted to let other people know and Mr. Tankless as well ,how lame it was and poor business practice to not even call back. Would have been ok with " can't find the part" or "don't have time for the job right now" but no call is unacceptable. No stars was not an option. read more
