Unethical business practices. From my experience, this company no longer stands behind their service nor cares about their customers. Treated poorly and egregiously overcharged by their crew, and there was nobody I could reach to talk about it that seemed to care, listen or want to try and help. After personally finding a small water leak outside our home, and digging a large hole around the source of a small outside water leak (small 1" elbow pipe coming out of the house - my video attached), I recommended that my girlfriend call Good Flow Plumbing. After a few attempts to reach them, she left a message during business hours, then finally connected via text and booked an appointment (a few days out). On the appointment date, their crew arrived late, outside their 4 hour arrival window. The good news; they fixed the leak, and did so in only 38 minutes! And that should be our happy ending - right? Unfortunately for us, not a happy ending. This is the point where they presented my girlfriend with a bill for nearly $500 for their "time and materials". She asked how a 30 min job could be so expensive, (she was told to expect $200 max), and they said "digging holes are hard, and they cost more money." Of course this is nonsense, the hole was already dug, I dug it myself. Any extra digging, including the actual water leak fix was an elapsed grand total of 38 minutes. Who charges $500 for 30 minutes of work? Are there plumbers in Austin charging $1,000 an hour now? Is there some sort of hazard pay for using a shovel that I should be aware of? They tried to justify an inflated price to my girlfriend assuming she wouldn't know the difference. She did know the difference, but decided not to push back any further as she was home alone, and already feeling uncomfortable by the two mens presence, so she paid the bill when they asked her to pay. When I returned home from Base, she relayed the story to me, and I said I would call their office and speak to management to let them know how their crew made her feel, and address the overcharge. Well, after repeated attempts to reach anyone at their office, I finally connected via text message, and eventually moved to a phone call. To my dismay, the lady who took the call (name starts with a J) was argumentative, defensive, and did not care to hear what I had to say nor help in any way. The sad part; I previously referred Good Flow Plumbing to many friends in Austin, and cited their company as some of the best, most honest plumbers out there -- not anymore. I am currently shopping for another plumbing contractor to send my friends, family and personal business to. I don't get why anyone would be so shortsighted. Okay, so now they have an extra couple hundred dollars, and we have an experience. And now I'm sharing our experience so others don't accidentally part ways with their hard earned dollars, for slow, poor service with zero respect. read more

My experience with Good Flow has been an absolute nightmare. I requested service to get my faucets replaced. They were installed incorrectly and I discovered leaking pipes shortly after they left which caused damage to the cabinet underneath the faucets. After several weeks of not hearing back, I requested the cabinet reskinning this week. I never received a confirmation date or time and received this email response from the team after their team showed up at my place without my knowing/being there -- "There was an email confirmation sent last week for today's appointment. It may have gone to your spam account. There is no proof this was a result of the faucets having a small leak, and the manager Shawn discussed not reskinning this cabinet. We only were trying to appease and get you taken care of. We don't have the power to reschedule the cabinet company and we do not reskin cabinets. You will need to find a cabinet company and then we will reschedule." So now I'm left with cleaning up the mess the caused on my own as they have not returned any of my calls or responded to my email. Do yourself a huge favor and look elsewhere. When we began hearing a "gulping" sound coming from under our IPE wood deck in our backyard. We immediately suspected it was being caused by a leak in the waste line that services the guest bathroom and zig zags through the yard to ultimately connect to the sewer line in front of the house, and knew this was an issue that required immediate attention. Unfortunately, our regular, trusted plumber was unable to schedule a repair for several weeks out and we were expecting company, who would be using that bathroom, the following week. After reading many online horrifying plumbing stories, we were wary of using a new plumber but knew we had to act fast. My call to another referral, after describing the problem, was met with an over-the-phone estimate of $2,500. Yikes! Despite being eager to get this repaired, I decided to get another estimate. Good Flow to the rescue! While they did have an initial charge to come out and provide a diagnosis and estimate, they told us it would be applied to the repair if they did the work. I called and spoke to Jessica in the office on a Thursday afternoon and their crew were here first thing Monday. Within less than 2 hours, they were able to carefully remove the 4 IPE wood boards, inspect the line, which had indeed become disconnected at a joint, repair it, replace the boards (undamaged) and pressure test it to ensure it wasn't leaking elsewhere - all for a very small fraction of what the other company had estimated. (I will add that we did have photos of the lines when they were installed before being buried and covered by the deck just in case we ever needed to locate them, so this helped; Good Flow told us to never lose these photos lol.) Good Flow was not only reasonably priced, they were professional, courteous and respectful. We are so grateful to have found these guys and won't hesitate to use them in the future. read more

They performed an optional service to descale my tankless water heater. After that my water at all faucets would cycle completely on and completely off. They spent 5+ hours over 3 trips trying to resolve with no resolution. This cost $400 on total and fixed nothing. I called another provider and they flipped a single setting and resolved the issue same day. These guys are not good at this. read more

I am writing this review in hopes that you never use Good Flow Plumbing for your plumbing needs. In May 2022, Good Flow Plumbing installed a pump to pump water from my washer through a newly installed drain line (installed by another shoddy plumbing company). After the install by Good Flow, I began smelling sewer gas in my utility room and I called them to come check it out. The plumber who came was very rude and insulting and told me there is no way that sewer gas could back up into my house. I needed more plumbing work done on another issue and I told them about the sewer gas smell. They checked out (using a camera) the pump installed by Good Flow and found that it did not have a p-trap nor did Good flow install a p-trap in the wall where the water leaves my washer and is pumped out to the drain. Because they failed to do the job correctly by not checking for a p-trap and installing one when they installed the pump, sewer gas has been backing up into my house for nine months. When I called Good Flow last week and left a message with the rude receptionist to find out what they planned to do about this problem, they never called me back. In addition to this this latest issue with Good Flow, back when they installed the pump in May 2022, I experienced the worst customer service from an owner of a company. I wanted to dispute a charge he included on the final invoice. He yelled at me on the phone and would not permit me to speak. He threatened me with legal action. There was no communication from the company about the amount to be charged for this very small area to dig and repair. I should have been told up front and been given a chance to discuss this. I called, left messages, and texted several times the main plumber who gave the initial estimate and oversaw the job, but he failed to respond to most of my attempted contacts. I wanted to discuss some things with him but never got the chance. I did dispute the charge in an email when I was prevented by the owner to speak on the phone, the invoice was adjusted per my request. No apology was ever given to me for being treated so poorly and in the most unprofessional manner. read more

After floundering for over a year with my Navien tankless water heater, which only provided hot water if I ran several faucets at the same time, Good Flow fixed the problem in 15 minutes. I had other plumbers out previously. They spent hours trying to fix, constantly calling Navien support. Again, Good Flow fixed it in 15 minutes. Price was fair. They also did a flush of my water heater and that was painless as well. read more

TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!!!!!!! I repeat ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE company. Beware of using them. I hired them because they were the only plumbing company available on the date I needed and the process with them was horrific. They lied to me multiple times (even giving me falsified information) and said my plumbing work would cost upwards of $41k. When I got a second opinion from another plumber the second company said my pipes were fine and when I confronted Good Flow about it they yelled at me on the phone and hung up on me. I wasted almost $300 worth of services on them and HIGHLY regret it. The manager I spoke on the phone with (denied giving me his name) there is extremely rude and condescending and their technician Mark (who serviced our house) is a liar. Please, please do not use them at all for any service. They are liars and swindlers. There are better plumbing companies in Austin that I would gladly pay for over these crooks. read more

These guys were one of three I called to inquire about replacing my water heater. They were able to quickly set an appointment and swing by. When talking about the estimate they noticed the switch was in the incorrect location. Turns out sometime between our move in and some upgrades we made the switch was moved and the water wasn't heating. One flick of the switch and our hot water is back. Too be honest, as busy as I've been, they could have taken me for a ride on the heater, but I appreciate the honesty and the fact they didn't charge me for the visit. I had another guy look at it a few hours before from one of the larger chains and even though he also looked around, he didn't catch it (or didn't bring it up). Regarding cost, having received the three bids, he was right at about the price of the most competitive bid I received, but they use Rheem professional products (higher quality than what you can get at Home Depot). In all, based on great customer service and competitive pricing I would strongly recommend you give them a call about replacing your residential water heater. read more

These guys came out when another plumbing company really dropped the ball. I had a main water line break on Labor Day Sunday, and I called about 15 plumbers. Good Flow called me back but they couldn't make it out until Tuesday (understandable) so they told me to call them back if I still needed service then. The other company (1st Plumbing Services) sent someone out for a $150 overtime fee, but the guy admitted to me that their equipment had been stolen so, regardless, there was nothing he could do. He charged me the $150 anyway just for making the trip and saying "yup, you've got a leak." He said he'd have to rent a bunch of equipment next week, and he quoted me between $700-4000. He wouldn't do anything that day, because he said it was a safety hazard for him to work on it himself. (?) I called Good Flow back, and two guys came out Tuesday morning with nothing more than a basic shovel, and they were able to fix it within a few hours. It was really easy for them, and in the end, it cost me $665 with labor. Thank goodness I didn't stick with the other guys. read more

We could not have been happier with Darrell and everyone at Good Flow Plumbing. Our mystery leak was suddenly creating very high water bills. I was expecting the worst and very expensive plumbing bill to match. I called at 11:45 AM and Darrell was at my front door at 3:30 PM that same day. He made quick work of checking all the easy/obvious spots for the leak and when those came up fruitless, he was able to locate the leak in my front yard with only minor digging. He kept me posted on his progress and explained his next steps. Within hours, he was finished. It was clear our leak had been fixed and our water pressure is better than ever. Their rates are competitive and they're honest, friendly, and skilled. The final price was more than fair and we couldn't be happier. UPDATE: I originally gave Good Flow 5 stars, but they had to come out twice for our slow draining tub issue, and it still didn't get fixed. We called Johnny Rooter and they solved our problem, although it cost a lot of money to fix between calling two plumbers. To Good Flow's credit, they did come out without charge on their second try on the tub drain, and they did a good job fixing our leak by the main water shut off. They're great guys, and we liked them, but in the end we were left with a problem that didn't get taken care of until we called somebody else. We had a slow draining tub and a slow leak by the main water shut off. We feared the repair by the street might be ultra expensive, and also were nervous about being taken advantage of by a dishonest, overcharging plumber. We looked for some Yelp Help. We chose Good Flow and they lived up to the hype. They fixed both problems at a fair, affordable price. Unlike some other companies I've read about, they didn't charge us for travel time, even when they had to drive back to get a larger piece of machinery for the job. The guy who came out to serve us was knowledgeable, hard working, and polite. I would highly recommend Good Flow based on this experience, and use them again should we encounter another plumbing problem. read more

We had a clogged kitchen sink drain and they sent a team out very quickly after I requested a quote via Yelp. They fixed the issue and were even careful not to track any dirt into the house. We ended up asking them to look at our toilet, which wasn't securely seated, and they did a fix on that without charging extra. Prompt, honest, and with competitive prices. Consumer beware. We hired Good Flow for an inspection. They lied to us about our plumbing and way over quoted us. We had to get a second opinion and sent out a second company. The second company confirmed we didn't have any issues with photos. We called back to Good Flow to ask them for pictures as the original quote did not have any photos. They said pictures are only provided if asked beforehand prior to the inspection (how would we know that) so they didn't have any. Horrible customer service and definitely not professional. Anyways, long story short, I highly do not recommend Good Flow. Idon't want anyone to go through the horrible experience we went through. This is a shady company and trying to make money using scare tactics. Also, read other people's reviews as their stories are very similar to mine. read more

Asked why more notice hadn't been given (gee - even 30 minutes notice?), and told that something just that second came up; also told that I shouldn't "shoot the messenger" by asking questions about scheduling, which is handled by the plumber. The next time I see the no-show plumber, I'll be sure to chew him/her out. ...and glad that my time is so valued at Good Flow Plumbing Reading the response from the business owner, a few responses from me: - They called once to cancel the appointment - and then one other time to discuss (after reading the bad review I left on yelp). I wouldn't characterize that as calling me "a few times" - The first excuse provided by the individual who canceled the appointment was good; the 2nd (different) excuse provided by Joel when he called me was also good; and the 3rd (different) excuse Joel provides in this written response is good as well. - My complaint isn't with the fact that something came up - or that Good Flow wanted to reschedule, which I would have been happy to do. My complaint is that Good Flow contacted me at 3 PM to cancel a 3 PM appointment. - From my perspective, that's placing little value on my time; and ultimately there's not much relevance (to me) whether the lack of consideration was intentional or unintentional. - The bottom line is that I planned my schedule around this appointment, and as a result, wasted my afternoon. read more

In May of this year, we were scheduled to have a garden party, and were cleaning the house the day before, on a Friday. When cleaning around the commode in the guest bathroom, we noticed that when the toilet flushed, water was seeping out from the base. And the toilet itself was somewhat loose. It had been installed less than 2 years previously by another firm. I called them, and when they sent their guy out, I was quoted something like $290 to replace the commode, and told that it might have a broken flange, which would require soldering, and that would run a minimum of another $275 or greater. Not being pleased with this news from the plumber who's company had installed it, I proceeded to tell him to wait, went and got a wrench, removed the nuts to the anchor bolts and pulled it so we could see what the actual problem was. Once I pulled it, the flange was broken. I thanked him and told him that I'd rather pay anyone else than his company to do the repair. I called Good Flow and the nice lady there managed to get word to one of her plumbers, and Darrel (sp?) made it out within an hour or so. He came in, looked at it, gave me a bid and his bid was under $300 to solder the broken mounting flange, put in a new wax ring and re-seat the toilet. He was later joined by a bigger fellow, who said his name was Darrel too--that he was Darrel's brother. Then they laughed, and told me their real names. The bigger Darrel came in and took over the soldering and then the littler Darrel re-seated the toilet, and they had it all re-installed, and re-caulked within about 90 minutes. And they charged less than the other major company wanted just to re-seat it. (I won't name them, but they use their mom in their commercials.) When they were done, they cleaned everything up and left the area very presentable. I told the bigger Darrel that I wanted him to tell his boss that I was very happy with them. He said he was the owner. Personally, I'd rather do business with the guy that owns a company than with some employee, who is only in it for a paycheck. These guys were great, and I have already recommended them to at least one friend, who was unfortunately dependent on another non-responsive competitor. These guys bailed me out of a tight spot and the party went off without a hitch. I recommend them without any reservation whatsoever. read more

Did you know you're supposed to flush and descale your tankless hot water heater annually? I sure didn't. Our neighbor recommended this company and we couldn't be happier. The incredibly friendly intake person was able to get me in for a next day appointment and the two guys that showed up (on time!) were awesome. I just bought a condo, and suddenly found myself with leaking bathroom and kitchen fixtures. I am so grateful that Yelp led me to Good Flow Plumbing because they are truly the real deal. Most good (and professional) plumbers are booked quickly, which was the case when I first called. However, Joel did everything he could to move things around and fit my emergency in (the leaks were starting to go into the walls). Darrell, the technician who came to my condo, was both empathetic and courteous - he made sure to wipe his shoes every single time he came through the door. I trusted him from the moment I met him, which is important when someone is working on your investment! They worked around my travel schedule and I felt very comfortable allowing them into my home while I was out of town. Lastly, the invoice and payment process was incredibly easy and transparent. I hardly ever write reviews, but I was so impressed by my experience that I had to share. These folks are genuinely good people who you can rely on to be fair and honest with their work. CON ARTISTS!!!! Good Flow Plumbing conducted a "water test" (per the invoice) on our sewer lines and claimed that the test failed. We have lived in our home for 13 years and have NEVER had a problem with the sewer lines. The only reason a test was done in the first place was due to our home being on the market. The buyer requested to have a hydrostatic test of the lines done before the option period expired (completely reasonable). Good Flow proceeded to quote $40,000 for repairs/replacement, even though they couldn't even identify where the supposed leak was. We contacted another plumber to get a second opinion since the invoice details/bid seemed absolutely bogus (the details amounted to one line)! I've worked in property management for over 15 years and a $40,000 quote is absolutely absurd! The second plumber tested the line (at our expense) AND IT PASSED. Just for peace of mind, we also had them conduct a video test (at our expense) with a camera just to be sure that there weren't any leaks that could have potentially been missed. They confirmed that there weren't any leaks with the video test as well. To be clear, we would never want to sell our home to someone if we knew there were deficiencies that weren't taken care of beforehand. We contacted our insurance company who said they would cover any replacements/repairs if there truly was a leak as Good Flow Plumbing had claimed, but THERE WEREN'T ANY LEAKS per the 2nd plumbing company. At that point there was no way that we were going to submit a fraudulent claim to our insurance company just to satisfy the buyer. This is truly unfortunate. Not only did the buyer miss out on a wonderful home, but now our house is back on the market due to Good Flow Plumbing's dishonesty. Read several reviews and based on that, called Good Flow for a w/heater replacement job. Darrel (owner, perhaps) and his assistant came at the appointed time. However, after providing their estimate, we needed to carefully coordinate an install-date with them seeing this was a multi-unit condo dwelling that needed a shutoff to many units in order to affect the work planned. Numerous calls to speak to him were left unanswered. Suggest if you need a reliable plumber, use one that's conversant with the PHONE and provides the customer an appropriate level of communication. Especially as our job needed coordination with condo engineering, etc. read more

I set out to replace the two toilets in my new home. I have zero knowledge when it comes to anything that has to do with home improvement. On advice from a friend, I contacted Good Flow Plumbing. Conversing with Joel, I advised him that I was in search of upgrading to taller, bigger toilets, and was thinking about installing myself. He was kind enough to chat with me a bit, and to make some recommendations on what to buy and look for. He even went as far as throwing out a few installation tips. Although I didn't actually hire them for their services, I think what transpired here is something that sadly, is practically nonexistent these days. A company took the time to LISTEN to me, and advise me when ultimately they knew at the time that there was not a potential business transaction. Some even wanted to charge me over $600 to just come and identify that there was a leak. Thank God for Good Flow Plumbing. Darrell showed up when he said he was and gave me a quote I could live with. Joel and his staff were great to work with and communicate with throughout the process. They showed up on time and even though they had to cut through our foundation to replace the pipes, the job site (with the exception of the dust)was actually very clean. I also had a leaky kitchen faucet and they helped me figure out the manufacturer so that I can get them to send a replacement part so that I don't actually need a new faucet. I can honestly say I never thought I'd write a review for a plumbing company but after dealing with an extensive remodel and many trades, I was blown away by Good Flow. They are honest, efficient and reliable. They show up when they say they are going to and they do so with a friendly demeanor. I am a stay at home Mom with three small children so I was incredibly grateful to feel so secure with these folks in and out of my home for days on end. They are like the anti-plumbing plumbers in that they do great work without all the negative stereotypes that so often summarize plumbers. I first called them for a tankless water heater issue, which thankfully with their honesty, turned out to be a simple issue of flushing out the system. I had procrastinated thinking that I'd have to dish out a ton of cash for a huge repair or a new water heater. Flushing a water heater takes some time, and as we were getting ready to need a lot of plumbing work at another property I used this time to ping Darrel with as many questions as I could. He was happy to be helpful and informative, and I knew after that I could count on them for all my upcoming needs.
