It's important to keep things in perspective. This isn't amazing food. It isn't even that great for mediocre Chinese-American food. It is, however, the best of the limited Chinese options in this area. The fried rice is nice and porky, the fried dumplings are usually crispy, and the General Tso's is crunchy and slightly spicy. The real reason that I always order from this place is the appetizer call "Noodles in Brown Sauce." I have no clue why I would have ever ordered something with that name in the first place, but at a some point I did, and now I get 2-3 orders at a time. For about 4 dollars you get a massive portion of savory noodles with diced meat, diced smoked tofu, and chili peppers. Add a little sriracha and you get something I would always be happy to see. I wish I saw Natalie T's review before I dined there, but I don't want to think about that right now... Anyway, I did go there for lunch on 9/9/09 and ordered the Beef Teriyaki Lunch special. It came with a california roll and some edamame. The california roll was OK and they gave a nice portion of edamame. The Teriyaki Beef on the other hand was terrible. It was very thin, tough and dried out (even though it was completely covered in sauce). It was also not what I was used to eating. The beef was cut at 90 degree angle which made it look like little meat french fries and It was sitting on top of what looked like a vegetable medley in teriyaki sauce. I also ordered the Mr. Q's Special Roll. The reason I ordered it was because the description is similar to Kim's Chinese & Sushi Dinosaur Roll, which is awsome. It is a Shrimp Tempura roll covered by Avocado and Eel. The Mr. Q's Special roll was also only OK, because there was no crunchy texture to the Shrimp Tempura. It appeared to be more batter fried. Finally, after I ordered my food and the sushi chef prepared my rolls, I noticed he went outside to help another worker finish lifting the front gate (there was about a foot left for it to be completely open). That was nice of him, except for one slight problem. HE STILL HAD HIS SUSHI GLOVES ON. I was really turned off at that point and started to wacth his every move. He did wipe his gloved hands off on a towel when he got back in to his sushi stand, but come on, he could have changed them. I noticed that every time he walked away from his stand he was wearing his gloves, which makes the point moot. Since he already made my order prior to my noticing anything (and I was really hungry and not feeling confrontational) I ate my food and made it a point not to return. I'm giving it 2 stars because of the ambiance of the place (its nice and relaxing) and I would have returned to try some different items, had it not been for the sushi chef (and Natalie T's reveiw, of course) Hope this helps. read more

Absolutely LOVE eating at Mr Q's! I have gone with many different friends and family and everyone loves it and thinks they are new otherwise why have they not eaten here before!? Absolute fave is Steak Au Mr Q's and Beef w Scallops....scrumptous. They have the biggest and tastiest dumplings I've ever had. Service is friendly and quick. Good place for Chinese food if you're local, especially since Hawaii Sea closed down, this place is sort of a smaller version. Their food is good and fresh and not too gumpy or syrup-y. They have a bar I believe near the door when you first walk in, and nicely decorated. I love the big textured/3D type mural on the back wall. I usually get orange chicken when I come here, takes about 10 minutes when I come in for pick up, and the people who work here are pretty nice. Great good and friendly service. It's a small place that has been around for a long time. Every time I go there, it is never packed which I enjoy. This place is by far the worst sushi spot that I have ever been too. It took them over an hour to get to me even though I'm less then a mile away. There were signs that I should not have order. For starters when the girl over the phone didn't know what a Tamago roll was and that you could put quail eggs over the roes. When my order arrived they botch that up by sending me some of the wrong stuff. The bubble tea wasn't mixed properly, the chicken had a texture that resembled jerky and the rice wasn't cooked thoroughly. I have been ordering food from here for years but all of a sudden the food is just plain awful. The Spare ribs are burnt 90% of the time the won ton soup is not what it used to be. Barely any meat in it. I ordered Shrimp dim sum tonite and got them I could not even find a shrimp in it. So combined with the Large order of spare ribs I ordered which were mostly burnt and hard I was not happy with my meal. I was able to look past the fact the delivery time was over an hour on average and they would get my order wrong 9 out of 10 times because the food was so good. Since the new owners have taken over the food quality has plummeted. I guess they brought a new chef in because nothing tastes the same. Mr. Q has been a well known establishment for quite some time. When I started going there 10 years ago, they were the best! Now they seem like they are starting to fall off a little and honestly it's disappointing. They don't carry the same pizzazz they used to with the quality of their food. Best Chinese I have ever had, it was amazing the peppered steak and pork fried rice amazing and everything else was perfect, delivery guy was upset I didn't tip him enough and I wish I had the money to just give the delivery guy a 10dollar tip for a 20 dollar order, next time I promise to tip him fat and not so little, just didn't have the money at the time, but again best place I've ever had. The last few times I ordered, I noticed the quality of the food was declining and the service was also declining. The final straw was when I ordered something simple and they messed up my order. The chicken was raw and they charged more than normal. When I asked about it, they were rude. Decent take out restaurant not a good sit in restaurant.. Nothing special about the environment. When I dined here yesterday it was freezing inside. The lady at the front register had a scarf on and the workers had sweaters and jackets. I don't know if the heat was broken or what but Needless to say the food is decent. I really like eggs in my rice. But their large rice is pretty small. At the most two adults and a child can eat out of their large rice and the rice is pretty greasy. The shrimp tempura was just ok. I first went here because I wanted sushi and Sushi Q happened to be closed. The bento box was large and pretty decent. The sushi was okay, just the usual chinese/japanese restaurant in the bronx that you would probably get take out from. The chinese food, not so good. found lots of hair and the flavor was very "americanized". Not all that authentic or good in general. Also, my friend and I got really really excited because they sell bubble tea here. Unfortunately, I assume no one orders it enough because when we ordered it, we had to wait like 30 min (we walked in just to buy drinks) at least for our drinks. I think they were cooking the tapioca balls, also the tea came from a powder. The flavor was good, but the tapioca balls were hard and not flavored at all. The manager of this restaurant is the most disrespectful person you will ever talk to. They messed up my order once and I was promised a free order the next time I call. Not only did he disregard this but he gave me so much attitude while on the phone and refused to take my order. He not only cursed at a returning customer, he had the nerve to hang up the phone on me twice. I will never come back to this restaurant, I will never call this restaurant back, and I hope the people that read this review will do the same.
