This is mediocre chinese food even to the point if you order a lunch special or combination meal, the fried rice will probably be the highlight over the meal. I did love this place back in 2003 and 2004, round there when I lived in the Bronx and seemed to frequent this place. Came with a group of 8 for lunch. Overall, location and decor (especially those chairs) are a bit iffy and you'll have to park in the lot across the street but food was excellent. This place also has sushi!! I got the spicy yellowtail roll that came with a beautiful soy sauce butterfly. Sesame seeds sprinkled on top were on point and the sashimi seemed pretty fresh and sushi carefully rolled. I heard they do quality takeout as well. We passed by Mr. Q's a couple of wks ago while headed to another local Asian restaurant and today we decided to check out this restaurant despite it's mixed reviews. In comparison to the place we were originally going to visit today, Mr. Q's was just as good and the price was half of what we spent at the other Asian restaurant. The portions were excellent, the food was fresh and didn't take long at all to arrive. Our server was courteous and attentive. The ONLY reason I deducted a star was because yes the restaurant offers complementary tea BUT the tea cup (mine and my boyfriend's) smelled and tasted like bleach (but at least we know they're clean). Beside the bleachy cup, I really enjoyed the food, service and the convenience of parking. The prices aren't your typical neighborhood Chinese spot prices but consider the fact that you're dining in AND the portions are larger. (They're not overpriced either). Grabbed take out from here since we had been getting inundated with the menu in the mail, and you can only resist advertising so much. I almost walked into the wrong location, because there is another Chinese food place next door. I was glad when I saw the facade for Mr. Q's because it was much nicer. Was worried about cleanliness once I scrolled through reviews, but the place was actually quite clean. Also they had the same decoration as the place I used to go to when I was little! No one even looked at me when I came in. I stood for about 2 minutes before the girl acknowledged me (the guy was on the phone and didn't even make eye contact). But after I ordered, she brought my bubble tea out immediately so I could drink it while I waited. I thought that was nice. Disney channel was on the tv, at like full volume. That was weird. I thought i was going to have to wait a long time based on the reviews, but it wasn't bad at all. Maybe 15 minutes. Food was good. A little salty, but otherwise classic American-Asian cuisine. The veggie tempura was a little mushy by the time we got it home, and they gave us two vegetable egg rolls instead of one egg roll and one spring roll like we ordered. But everything tasted fine when you get right down to it. I would go back here, if only because they have both Chinese and Japanese food and it looked a bit nicer than some of the other places we get take-out from. I don't like it when restaurants try to get over on returning customers. I placed a $14 order today knowing that there was a $2 charge for delivery because I live over 2 miles away. On the phone the lady told me that the minimum charge for delivery is now $20. So I had called back ordering food which I didn't really want. Only to see that on the menu it said minimum delivery charges $10 with the $2 over 2 mile fee. When I saw this I called the number and ask to speak to the manager who was conveniently not there today. When I explained to the lady on the phone what I ordered and I asked her why she told me I had to make a minimum of $20 purchase. She said because I normally order $40-$60 worth of food, that "they" never told me prior that there was a $20 dollars minimum for the delivery over 2 miles. It clearly says on their menu the minimum for delivery is $10. This doesn't make sense to me. I said I like delivery today, she saids, YOU WANT DELIVERY YOU HAVE TO TIP, driver said you didn't tip him last time, my reaction. I was what!!? I tip all the time, my Son is listening. He saids I guess they don't pay the drivers and they keep track of customer that don't heavy tip, we live 10 mnts from MrQ's driver always complain. No parking. So we go down and pick up our order pay him with a Tip and off he goes. Food is not cheap. Went here today to eat after having knee surgery, I remember living in the bronx not to long ago and my family always ordered from here. Stopped in today while passimg thru and waiting for a pharmacy to fill my prescription and let me tell you it was bad. Service bad. Food bad. The scallion pancakes were greasy sponges with no scallions to be seen, the fried rice had an overwhelming taste of burnt pan. And the chicken wings were small and meatless, just fried no seasonings not like your average whole chicken wings from your average chinese spots. I ordered my lunch at 12:15 and asked for delivery for 1pm. I was told ok that's fine. Delivery is free over $10. My food came up to $9.30. I told gentlemen on the phone just charge me the 70 cent because i only had a $10 and wouldn't have to use my card (hate giving my card number over the phone). This man had the audacity to ask me "how are you going to tip the driver if you only have $10". I then say " that's your employee, i tip and order from you guys all the time. Today i don't have it, do you suggest i don't eat"? He says ok, and we hang up. He called me back 20 mins later and say "i don't know if we can deliver to you at 1" So now I'm confused because if you can't come at one, come before then, i meant i did order at 12pm. He said he doesn't know what to tell me. I ask is this because i don't have enough cash to tip? He started yelling telling me it has nothing to do with that. I told him to cancel my order. My one take-out experience here was horrendous. We waited an hour after ordering our food to call and inquire when it would come. It came about 20 minutes after that (we live about mile away). Then we found out that they forgot our beef and broccoli. When we called, they tried to convince us that we got our beef and broccoli before grudgingly acknowledging that the customer was in fact right. Ummm, I've never been crazy about this place but all my college-mates swore by it. I went to Fordham University (about a 10-15 drive from here) and we would always order from here. I liked their sesame chicken and that's about it. I'm usually a shrimp and broc girl but I didn't like it at all from here. We came on a night that wasn't too crowded however they kept saying that they didn't have anything. First they didn't have Ginger Ale so one of the people in our group ordered a Coke. Definitely a hole in the wall Chinese take out place with a bunch of tables. I haven't been here in a while, but now I know to go back when I am in the area. I ordered carry out. Took a bit longer than they said it would be, and considering I was the only one there waiting for food (also no table patrons), I was actually expecting to be out faster. No big deal. Ordered chicken with broccoli, pork fried rice, and spring rolls. The chicken with broccoli was not greasy, and the broccoli was crunchy. Exactly the way I like it, too. Usually the corn starch will make the chicken seem slimy but this was perfect. The large, however, seemed smaller than your average "large" serving. The PFR was great. It was actually fried rice, and not yellow rice with bean sprouts added. Very tasty. The spring rolls were just what you'd expect. I'm very glad I re-discovered this place. Really have tried to work with them on large office delivery orders and it's just such a headache it's not worth it in my opinion. As a sales rep. you want an easy go to seamless ordering process for your offices. You can't just call and say 10 people mix it up here's my budget you ha w Togo line by line with very big communication issues . The person who takes the orders on the phone if you can reach them! Is such a struggle spelling things out letter by letter and it's always so loud in the background I gave up! I've living in this vicinity for 25 years, have tried everything asían fast food place non top Mr.Q. Never had problems with the food. Restaurant is clean and the employees polite.
