We tried out Mr. P's after seeing a video someone did on Lewes and the pizza looked amazing. Honestly, the pizza was very good. It was the service that was lacking. Our server barely came to our table, and we needed drink refills more than once. The thing that surprised me is there were several people standing around behind the bar doing absolutely nothing at various times while we were there. If this place wants to up their game, their wait staff should watch other server's tables and if the assigned server is busy with something at the time, the other employees should pick up their slack like they do in better serviced restaurants. I mean, a glance at our table would've shown somebody (anybody) that our drinks were out. For what they're charging for pizza, the service needs to be spot on, and it's not. As an aside, and it's not a huge deal, the interior is very dark. They could probably lighten the place up a little. But that's not the deal breaker. I don't know if we will be back.

Came here for a slice over Thanksgiving weekend and it didn't disappoint! I sat a the counter with two friend and we each got a slice of pepperoni. It was nice and hot when we got our slices even though they were served out of a case. While we ate our slices we watched them add new pizzas to the rack, which reassured us as to how fresh our slice were. Solid pizza, reasonable and quick!

So let me be fair by saying that I gave them an actual shot. I ordered food at 2:15 in the afternoon and it was ready by 2:30. Shocker, considering that just 2 hours later it would be a three hour wait time for one large and one medium pizza... this is the most disgusting pizza I've ever had. There's no flavor, the dough is not even cooked fully, yet it's somehow burnt to the pits of H E DOUBLE hockey sticks, the ingredients literally fell off of the pizza while you went to pull the slice out. It is burnt, greasy, GROSSSSS!! I'll still drive to Frederica Pizza even though I'm further away. It's sad the Grotto's is better than this place too. We wasted $40 today and the rest of this is going in the trash!

Another great location that I can't believe I haven't gone to before!! . Their pizza is delicious & wood-fired. We ordered the classic margarita pizza, and it was fabulous! The crust is slightly hard on the outside but pillowy-soft on the inside, and slightly sweet. The basil was shredded all over - this is great because we constantly ask at pizza places to add extra basil. If you don't like crust (wood fired is yummy & can be dipped in sauce or whatever!), you may not appreciate this pizza as much. The salads were huge - the Greek was tasty and included capers, and my Mom loved the spinach salad. They make their own salad dressing too! The meatball app (3) was tasty too. The marinara and pizza sauce is slightly sweet; my preferences lean toward more tomato or savory, but it was still delicious! They were very professional and friendly. *Note - cash only!!

The margarita pizza was worth the wait. This pizza place is a town favorite and the pizza is as good as any in NY.

Yummy wood fired pizza and their fried pickles are actual pickle spears. Best food. Bring cash.

Just waited 2 hours for soggy pizza!!! Never again! If this is what people in Delaware call the best around, I'll make my own.

Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about.

The common theme in many of the reviews for Striper Bites is "...it's a favorite of the locals..."…read more Lewes, DE is one of my favorite places for quick weekend trips, and after visiting Striper Bites quite often, not only is this place a favorite of the locals, but for us "tourists" also. Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood. Every town needs a neighborhood gathering spot like Striper Bites.
