I went to Mr. Hibachi and honestly it was cool. The food was solid, nothing crazy but definitely hit the spot. The portions were great though, everything was hot, and the flavor was there. Service was alright, they weren't rude or anything, just not super engaged. It's one of those places where you get exactly what you came for quick hibachi, good enough to satisfy the craving. I'd go back if I'm in the area and want something easy, but it's a little sad inside with no real lighting or music so I usually just grab it to go. I wanted a decent lunch, so ordered the chicken/lobster (with veggies added and extra chicken added). The order contained a small lobster tail shell but there was zero lobster meat in what I received. The chicken quantity seemed about right for a normal order but no way that the extra chicken I paid for was in there. Veggies were also quite skimpy, as in literally the equivalent of one whole mushroom, a few slices of zucchini, and a few small bits of broccoli. Steak and scallops used to be delicious but has declined to the point I won't be eating there again. Tonight I ordered med rare steak and it was medium at best and chewy. The scallops were about the size of a silver dollar but were less than half an inch thick. (About the size of sliced kielbasa.) They were overcooked and I'm not sure they were actually real scallops and not pressed scallops, sort of like a mcnugget. Called and they said they were trying different scallops which means they were probably much cheaper and lower quality. Anyways, I advise you to look elsewhere. read more

I noticed this open when we were taking our daughter to school, but it's a bit out of my way. And downtown parking isn't always easy. So, I put off coming in. But I had a chance today, and there are relatively cheap meters right in front. I ordered online, which was super easy, and the food was ready when I got there. It was only lukewarm so it had been sitting for a while, but I'd rather have that than have to wait to pick it up when I'm in a hurry, and I was taking it to work to reheat it for lunch anyway. Pretty standard Japanese steakhouse fare. But that standard is already pretty high, in my opinion; I love the flavors and the big portions. I got steak and chicken, which were cooked well, tender and flavorful. They come with a couple of the usual sauces, pretty good versions. Also comes with fried rice. Comes standard with cabbage and then you can add other veggies at a small extra cost, or extra portions of meat, etc. Very good. Tasty and filling. I also got crab Rangoon. They are an unusual shape, and are full of crab, so maybe they are their own thing, not prepackaged? Thin tasty sauce on the side. A small dining area inside, bottles and cans of pop, plasticware. We have just recently started working back in our offices one day a week and I am not mad that this little place is just a block or so away! Will definitely be making this one of my usual lunch spots! I love veggie dishes (and no I am not a vegetarian just love veggies!) so I decided to get the vegetable hibachi. The portion was huge, hot, and fresh! I didn't even have to ask and they included 2 yum yum sauces, napkins and plasticware. The gal at the front was very friendly and as nice as can be. My dish was served hot and the flavor was perfect especially after adding some of the yum yum sauce. My new go to place, customer service is great, I get the hibachi steak and shrimp and an order of crab Rangoon.

My first trip to Mr. Hibachi was last night with my best friend, and while we had high expectations from the start, we were truly impressed and they lived up to all the hype. At Mr. Hibachi, you select your protein and it comes with fried rice and cabbage. You can add other vegetables for about $1 each. I had steak and salmon, my friend had steak and shrimp, and at the suggestion of the woman at the counter, we ordered crab rangoon. Steak is served to temperature at this restaurant and we both ordered medium rare. My friend had Coke and I had Pepsi, because my palate is superior. Few restaurants offer both, but being a shrewd negotiator, Mr. Hibachi was able to strike a deal with the two beverage giants. The crab rangoon exceeded most I've had in Columbus, with lots of crab meat and only enough cream cheese to serve as a binder. The chef nailed the medium-rare steak for both orders, the shrimp was juicy but with a nice sear on the outside, and the salmon was cooked to the point of crisp on the skin but not so well done as to dry out the meat. Between the two of us, we ordered zucchini, mushrooms, onions and broccoli, all were nicely done. The yum yum and ginger sauces were fairly standard. You do have to specify if you want ginger sauce as the default is double yum yum. During the meal, I ordered a second Pepsi and spied a bright red lobster tail in the window, part of another order. Given the quality of the rest of the food, I would be surprised if the chef didn't nail the lobster, too. The only drawback was that Mr. Hibachi himself was not present during our meal, but we understand he is very busy. Such a powerful man surely is able to visit only occasionally, although it is clear that his influence extends to all aspects of the restaurant, from the excellent quality of the food, to the clean-looking decor, to (as mentioned) the offering of competing beverages under the same roof. Frankly, if Mr. Hibachi were present, I may have been too shy to communicate my gratitude properly, although I have heard that despite his power and influence, he is a kind and gentle man. We finished our meal and, having a taste for a nice sake, walked about four blocks to a second location, where we shared a bottle of warm Junmai, a perfect follow-up to an outstanding meal. read more

I go to Mr. Hibachi tonight to get dinner for the first time. I order online and get chicken hibachi and chicken spring rolls. When I open my food I am concerned where the veggies are in my hibatchi meal. All there is is cabbage... odd so I go look on the app to see what exactly I ordered. Come to find out they make you add the veggies to the meal for an extra $5.50. I've never heard of a hibatchi place doing this and I certainly do not want this to become the standard in Columbus. GIVE THE PEOPLE THEIR VEGGIES. Stupid to pay their price and STILL have to add veggies yourself. Also my spring rolls were so oily I just took one bite and trashed em. Really quick and friendly service--I like the option of ordering online for pick up. The ginger sauce, unlike the sauces from other hibachi to go places, has actual ginger pieces in it. Portions are big but if you add veggies to a meat dish, it looks like they reduce the amount of meat. I added in veggies and I had maybe two rows of steak whereas a friend that just got chicken had an entire container full of chicken on top of the fried rice. All the veggies (except for shredded cabbage and carrots) are $1.50 extra so it can add up if you wanted any extra veggies. read more

This place has only been opened for a very short time. Just in the time they've been opened they already increased prices. I got the hibachi chicken for $10.99 it came with about 3/4 of a breasts of chicken, a ton of rice, to slivers of carrot and about half a cup of cabbage. The chicken was super over cooked and rubbery. The food was seasoned well. For the amount of rice you get 2 sauces is definitely not enough. Service wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. Saw this new hibachi joint pop up suddenly downtown at the tiny lil" old spot where I think O-H Pizza used to be so I look it up online. Nice prices for HIbachi..."ok, gurl!! Let me make a phone call." Lady on call was sweet and inviting, so I said "let me give these cats some of my money!" Went with the steak and shrimp, add mushroom and onion along with the yum yum and the egg yolk sauce. Added some crab rangoon at the request of the kind lady on the phone as well (she was slick with that add-on suggestion. Get that lil' up-sell boost. She's got some hustle. Respect the player!). 1) I think the crab rangoon was made in-house. It was very very fresh and just hit way different than your local Chinese joint that caters to the lowest common denominator. Ol' girl on the phone new that if she sold that rangoon and mfers tasted it, she was gonna make that sale again next time. If you get the rangoon, chalk it up as an add-on to your next order. It's a wrap. I'm finna say it, I aint finna play with it. Automatically chalk up another $4.99 next time! 2) Steak was cooked perfectly med rare and the shrimp were tender. That was key. I honestly expected overcooked steak. No disrespect to anyone, these restaurants are trying to stay alive in this economy, but it seems everywhere nowadays is messing up steaks, so I tempered expectations. Nope, this steak was on-point! TENDER. I wish I had ordered double steak, but that $7.49 up-charge kinda slaps ya upside the head. 3) Egg yolk sauce and yum yum: Yum yum tasted like typical yum yum. Always tasty. Egg yolk was good as well but I felt like $3 was lightweight expensive. Even in this economy, because It is a rather small portion, be aware. 4) Having to pay for each and every vegetable is a trivial annoyance, however, it is fair for folks who dont desire the additions. You'll notice the prices are very very fair for the high quality that it is. I think that them charging seperately for the additions may be a way to keep menu price appearance lower than competition. These guys are slick. I respect their game! In conclusion: I will absolutely order from them again, maybe today! Think I will add my own homemade sauteed onions, mushroom and jalapeno next time to keep the cost on the lowest end possible. The value is just incredible with these guys though. Even if you go with their higher end dishes, the costs are really reasonable and the size hits the eye and stomach right. I'm just going to assume the people on here giving great reviews haven't had good hibachi or the first time they tried this place they were starving. I'm from Charlotte, NC maybe my taste is a lil different but this place was trash! Like TRASH trash I actually threw most of it away. Chicken and shrimp hibachi...trash! No taste and looked plain. Hibachi wings were good but 3 wings for $5? Come on! But they were good I can't lie. Chicken spring rolls...you get 2 in a order. I ate half of the first one and had that I feel like throwing up feeling...Trash! I spent $24 on all of that so I basically ate the meat off the rice and the chicken wings.
