Fun gyro place within walking distance of where I live. They do a couple things really well, and a couple things are so-so. The good: the lamb is well seasoned and tasty. Their vegetables are fresh and delicious. The yogurt tzatziki sauce is delicious too. The average: the hummus is so-so. I make hummus at home (and I've been told it's "bomb") and mine is honestly better. The tahini is over powering in the hummus at Mr. Gyros. I'd experiment with a different proportion of tahini, or boost the other flavors. Also the greek fries are french fries with a few crumbs of feta on top. Pretty lackluster. Also, the "plate" prices seem a little much for what you get. Stick to the sandwiches for a better value. Overall there are some decent things about this place. Good value to be found if you keep it simple and stick with the falafels. I definitely come here semi regularly, but I stick to only a couple of options because of the inconsistency across the menu. read more

I love Greek food!! And this place did justice to my taste buds. Outside of Mr. Gyros, I usually only have had gyros from chain places and have rarely come across a Greek place that is local. The restaurant looks like a hole in the wall with a ton of two seater tables, but you can move them together for bigger groups. My group got the gyros plate and I got a gyro with French fries with feta on top. The plate comes with salad, meat, rice, pita and humus. For the price, there is a ton of food. Their fries with feta really hit home though and complimented the gyro well. I would highly advise getting the spicy garlic sauce if you like the sting of garlic! read more

The meat wasn't normal but chewy. Like they were making meat with by products to save money. The pita seemed home made and worse than I could do and I'm no special chef. Another difficult review. The initial reaction was very positive. It smelled amazing and it was cram packed full of nice on the eyes "ambience". We ordered up and the guys working here work their magic with both food and flirt quickly. We sat outside on the sidewalk table, it was a beautiful day and who doesn't love a little Greenwood people watching? Then..........I saw it. .....The sticker. ....but wait. Not one...but TWO yelp loves us stickers. F**k. *sigh* The first half of my gyro was everything i expected it to be. Tasty, crisp, fresh, my theory of the yelp sticker was in serious jeapordy. But, alas, the second half lent credence to my theory. Sadly. No tomatoes on half numero 2. And the sauce...once creamy is turning pasty and sparse. I cannot completely discount Mr Gyro's for this, however, because I did get my monies worth in food and more than my monies worth in "ambience' As as added bonus, should you visit, do whatever you can to sit outside. Yelp suggested Mr Gyros for inexpensive Mediterranean food in the Ballard neighborhood. It was a good choice for my my friend and me. She had Lamb Shawarma which she really liked a lot. She especially liked the Greek Salad that came with it. I ordered a Falafel Gyro and although I wish it contained a bit more falafel, the crisp veggies in it were enjoyable. Kind of amusing that my friend and I both appreciated the "vegetation" part of our meals. Mediterranean spots are as dime a dozen as Teriyaki joints in this city, so finding a place worth a dollar in a sea of 12 for 10¢ spots is a loose god send! At first glance! The place is tiny, barely holding more than 15, but trust me when I say the wait (though very sporadic) is freakin worth it. I visit clients round the Greenwood area fairly often, I love it that I can go someplace like this and get a delicious and healthy meal for a good price. What's not to like about this place? And what's left to say after hundreds of positive reviews? I'll add my $0.02, but, really, if you're reading this, you should just plan to come in and check it out. It's a tiny storefront on Greenwood, right at 85th. There's a bit of parking right up the hill. It really is minuscule--a couple little tables on the sidewalk when they're open, and a couple more inside. Then it's a giant menu hanging from the ceiling, a cash register, and a big old kitchen. And they work fast. These guys have it down to a science. They might not be busy every second of every day, but they always know that the busy time might not be too far around the corner. They're always ready. The staff is young and energetic, and they seem to know that pretty much everyone is a prospective regular. They're used to the whole neighborhood, and then some, piling in here to get fed. They got it goin' on--you order, and they hope to it, and it does not take long to put everything together, even with multiple seasoning steps along the way. I had the lamb and beef gyros plate. Fresh meat and bread and cheese, tasty olives, crisp vegetables. Absolutely no complaints at all with any part of the meal. Explosively flavorful, balanced seasonings, careful cooking. All for $10. So, here is my update for this hometown hero(gyro)- More than one years and countless falafels later, I'm still very much enamored of this hole in the wall. We finally ordered from the takeaway window, late last night. The service was as stellar as during the day, the staff were fast, friendly, and totally patient with the onslaught of drunken gyro-worshipppers. Mr. Gyros in Greenwood is the real deal. The other spots just don't measure up to this lusciousness. Mr. Gyro truly deserves all those stars, as it produces an exceptionally tasty sandwich. The lamb kabob is my favorite: delicious, slurpy, and the size of a large burrito. You will realize its good when eating. Filled with tasty lamb chunks, yogurt, tomato, lettuce and humus and wrapped in a spongy version of pita, it's darned good. Fast froward to a day later when you are craving it all over again: that's when you appreciate how truly great this budget bite is, and how addictive. There are many other plates at Mr. Gyro with chicken, lamb and falafel and all arrive with colorful, fresh ingredients. You can't go wrong here. For my money, the lamb kabob sandwich puts all the goodness together in all the best ways. This is a grab and go spot, very basic and small, but there is some limited seating in front, and a table or two on the street in front of the store for a sunny day, should you care to brave the crowds and try for eating in. Good service, but the food prep and plating method along with dirty seating areas, make for a sloppy and unpleasant overall experience. All the ingredients are here: high-traffic location, good recipes, well-priced menu, prompt and pleasant service. But like with any restaurant, the proof's on the plate. I ordered the lamb shawarma sandwich, classic, simple. The lamb was full of tough gristle, hard and jaw-popping. The sandwich was served like a burrito, rolled up in paper and foil, and the package cut in half. This put little bits of paper and foil into the sandwich halves, also not tasty. Trying to unwrap the sandwich caused the ingredients to spill out everywhere. Messy! The sauce, the bit that makes shawarma shawarma, was delicious as always, but no amount of yummy sauce will trim the tendon from the lamb meat, or do anything for the paper and foil bits but hide them further, or keep the cucumber, lettuce and tomato from creating a salad in the bottom of my basket. Larger pita, more traditional whole-sandwich service, and greater attention to meat prep will get things back on track. Sweeping and wiping your restaurant more frequently will help too. In a neighborhood rife with food choices, it's super important to give customers every reason to come back...sadly, it will be a while before I come back here. read more

This is the second location of Mr. Gyros with their original location on Greenwood. This place is spacious and airy with the same quality that you'll find at the other place. Hands down, some of the best gyros in Seattle too. You won't regret stopping in for a bite or takeaway because the food is achingly addictive. Their menu is simple with sandwiches, plates, and salads. You'll get out of there for a tenner easily with a gyro for $5.50 plus $2 more, you can get Greek fries and a drink! Portions are quite large so unless you're hella hungry, order with care. Street parking only. Come hungry and you won't be disappointed. read more

Hells to the yeah, it is a place with nice, Greek men on the grill who talk you up and make you feel good while you're stuffing yourself with fatty foods. The four stars, and not five, is for the inconvenience of eating. It's often hard to find space to even wait in line to order your food, and if you want water, it's going to be a road trip. I wish their dine-in area was expanded a bit. First impressions are important, too, and when I first arrived I thought this place was going to suck. I sit here corrected. This is a guaranteed place to fill your cravings for whatever you are having. I dig the food; I love the combo plate they have with their homemade hummus, Greek salad, and pita breads with lamb. Their falafel is bomb, too. I dig the clientele, it's lax people who want something to eat. I've never been annoyed by the customers (and I am easily annoyed) they pull in, unlike the restaurants in the Eastside. + Atmosphere, menu, quality of the food, staff, promptness. I came here after craving gyros for about a week, and was very satisfied. Take out was super easy and quick, and thank goodness for their parking lot on the side too. Greenwood parking is a nightmare, and this place is definitely more accessible with a parking lot! Service was friendly, just like everyone else has written. We usually love Mr. Gyros but the lunch we got from this location yesterday was not freshly cut off the spit and was dry instead of juicy. I suspect they pre-cut some of the meat to save assembly time but it affects the quality which is very disappointing! read more

Went to Mr Gyros on a sunny Saturday afternoon around 1:30. There was a line of about 5 people ahead of us. Fast and friendly service though. You order and pick up at the counter and find a table. The place is tiny so it's not good for groups - only 5 tables maybe and a bar counter. We managed to get the one table that was outside. My husband got the lamb gyro and greek fries - he gave them thumbs up. I got the falafel plate - yummy. The falafels were crisp and fresh, although I thought the inside part was a little wet/soggy. Still, better than the often too-dry falafels you get elsewhere. The hummus was delicious and garlicky and the pita bread was warm and soft.
