One of the better gyros in Seattle! The gyro has a nice crust and flavor. I find that many other shops don't have the crust in Seattle and have off putting texture. The fries were meh, probably wouldn't get the fries combo again, but the rice and babaganoush in the plate were well seasoned and paired nicely so will definitely be getting the combo plate again! read more

I ordered Mr Gyros the other day for pickup, and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered it being before! I got a plate with chicken and beef, and my partner got a pita sandwich with a side of Greek fries. My plate was decent - I think the beef was better than the chicken. The pita was good but the hummus had almost no flavor which was surprising. It tasted a bit watered down or something. My partners Greek fries unfortunately were a tiny portion and they were cold which was a huge bummer. We picked it up right when it said it would be ready, and everything else was at least warm so I'm not sure why the fries were not even room temp. read more

There are much better Mediterranean restaurants for a similar price point all throughout Ballard. We gave this place a try based on reviews and it's just not it. The food was not great, and the inside really needs some work. I'm fine with a dive-type joint but it seems like the owners just entirely gave up on maintaining the space. read more

I love divey looking spots. Too often they have the best food. Unfortunately, for Mr. Gyros both look, and food are both average. I pass here daily and after a late shift I didn't want to have to wait long for food, so I used it as an excuse to try Mr. Gyros. As mentioned, you step inside and the ambience is much to be desired. The menu is like on poster board and the whole place just could use a remodel. I went with but of course the chicken shawarma, just the shawarma, no combo and somehow that equaled out to if I just got the combo. So right there that was lame. It wasn't very hot considering I got takeout so that wasn't good. The shawarma itself was just average. Didn't hold together well into each bite and I'll admit it's fairly well loaded with fixins and had decent Tzatziki flavor; it just doesn't measure up that well compared to other Shawarma I've had, like at all. Another Shawarma place opened recently literally a block away and now I see why - they're better and probably know it. It's so weird to me because they have, their little "People love us on Yelp" sticker and an award from Yelp as one of the best places in Seattle to Eat from the 2010's. I just don't see it. This is your perfect spot for late night gyro cheat meals and guilty pleasures. I honestly usually order online or on mobile and just stop in to pick up. But they actually do have some seating and it's actually pretty nice if you're coming in earlier than midnight and want to have a proper meal with some friends read more

I usually visit the food truck when it is on Eastlake. Unfortunately my work has moved away from this area so I don't get to go as often, but when I have the opportunity I am always looking forward to the food here. This is one of my two favorite gyro sources in Seattle, and definitely my favorite middle eastern gyro place. The owner, Sammy, is wonderful and has an amazing memory for people. Combo plate - The beef and lamb tasted really good but wasn't too big of a fan of the chicken 3/5 Chicken shawarma - cooked really well and def hit the spot 5/5 This is a great place to grab a big meal for take out, wasn't really a place to sit down and eat. $15 for gyro with barely any meat? All veggies. Also, the people there are rude and hung up on me when I was trying to ask a clarifying question. His rational was he's busy to justify it. When did gyro stop having tzatziki sauce? That's what makes it a gyro. Mine came with little garlic sauce? That's there way to upsell you on sauce. Pro tip: when ordering extra sauce that should have already been in the sandwich in the first place ask for it on the side. Otherwise they drench the living crap out of it and the ratio is all off. But heck they want to show you paid for it lol. Go U district. Aladdin way cheaper and you can actually taste meat. Mucho gracias will not be back senior rude mf read more

So I've been going to Mr Gyros since the OG location in greenwood, don't get me wrong on the three stars as I usually go to Mr Gyro for a treat cause I love it..... Now this visit wasn't on point on the lamb shawarma. See the pic for my hastily wrapped, WAY over onion-ed, and over-cooked lamb visual. The chicken shawarma is SUPER flavorful! I personally enjoy the salad- it's got cucumbers, tomatoes, pepperonis, onions, feta cheese, olives, delicious chicken, and Tzatziki sauce, all the delicious fixings and a vinaigrette sauce over it! So good! My boyfriend enjoys the same but sandwich style. The workers were super friendly and restaurant was clean. We normally go to the Wallingford location but they were already closed (8:30pm Saturday), called the Ballard location and luckily they were open til 2am Saturday. I think these hours should get updated on Yelp to avoid confusion. read more

Been going here since 2012. Huge portions, friendly dudes, and the gyro meat is always on point. White and hot sauce are solid, I always feel heavy afterwards but it's a happy kind of heavy. I've eaten here maybe once but much nicer to take it to go. read more

Ugh. Had one of the worst meals of my life. The food was so haphazardly thrown together with inedible chicken, soggy falafel, wet gyro bread, yucky old lettuce and tomatoes and mounds of sauce that just tasted bad. We used to go to Mr. Gyros in Greenwood and never had complaints. This food was just so bad we had to pick out the edible pieces and toss most of it. The baklava was good though, despite being a really small portion. That was the saving grace to the sloppy gross meal that I couldn't even bear to feed to my dogs. read more

I can only speak to the vegetarian options here, but if you're looking for an absolutely mid falafel experience, Mr. gyros is your place. Was it bad? No. Was it the best falafel I've ever had? God no. But it had relatively fresh add-ons, the falafel and fries were fried in clean oil, the sandwich was filling and it didn't make me sick. Staff got my order taken care of promptly and the Ambience has all the hallmarks of a drop-in late night stop, which may be the sweet spot for a place like this. Overall, a meal that gets the job done. read more

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Ballard. Got the Mr.Gyro (which is a lamb/beef meat) salad with garlic sauce. It came with pita on the side. The salad had lettuce, onion, tomato, cucumber & feta. Some chunks of the onion are pretty overpowering. But otherwise, the dish was fresh, flavorful, delicious. read more

Have been here 4 times now. I'm pescatarian, so I don't do the meat, but my guy does. He really likes it. I do the falafel and we both like the salad. 1 star off for..1 time the falafels were pretty dry..even with the extra sauce. And if you plan on eating there, for me an extra star off as it's loud and uncomfortable...but I live down the block so I don't care. Hard to get this type of food nearby (without meat)..so yeah! read more

It's a shame. Mr. Gyros used to be the best in town and now it's just not. Not even close. I stopped in there for the first time since the pandemic and was looking forward to a gyro for me and falafel for the Wifey. I was speechless as I watched the man grab a pita from the steam table then apply the meat, also from the table. What happened to slicing from the spit then charring it on the flat top? The pita should never be in a steam table! They always used to throw it onto the flat top to warm. And since when do they add cabbage? I love cabbage by never on a gyro. The total result was a doughy pita with floppy meat with weird toppings. I will not be stopping there again and it makes me sad when I remember how good it used to be. read more

Far from the best lamb and beef gyro I've had. The meat had almost no flavor....like the hummus and veg and bread. Usually a gyro bursts with flavor but there's just none here. $14 is quite steep for a flavorless meal. Will not be back. read more

I haven't had Mediterranean food in forever so I decided to get take out for me and the boyfriend the other day. We ordered the gyro plate and chicken shawarma plate. Both the lamb and chicken meat were decent -- good but standard quality. The sauce was a bit thick, more like a dip consistency than a sauce, but still tasty. The thing that I thought was odd was that the pita bread came in the store-bought plastic bag as if they were the last two pieces in the bag and the restaurant couldn't be bothered to take them out. I don't know if it's usually like this but it came off as lazy to me. The bread was also cold. But overall, this was a good satisfying meal. read more

However after we expressed that we didn't want to wait that long, we were told that if we wanted outdoor seating they could actually seat us in less than half an hour. We chose the outdoor seating option and took a quick stroll in the quiet neighborhood before coming back. Our server told us that Homer's plates are meant to be family style and shared so their general recommendation is 1 large plate or 2 small plates per person. For us, we ordered the Set of top 3 spreads, lamb ragu on tahini and we were served with 5 pieces of warm pita. We also ordered Grilled Pork with Stinging nettles, raw albacore tuna with taramasalata, and smoked and shaved kohlrabi. Our server warned us that the pork was going to be on the fatty side but we were still surprised by how fatty it was. The spreads for the pita were amazing as usual-- their seasonal flavors taste amazingly fresh. Our table wanted to order more pita and when someone came by to take the empty plate they asked if we wanted more which we did let them know but even by the time we finished all the plates, we never got the additional pita so we just took it off. The Kohlrabi was an amazingly refreshing palette cleanser before the pork-- super light and refreshing. After we finished our meal we grabbed some soft serve from the window and wow, for 7$ it's quite a lot of ice cream! The flavors that were offered when we were there was Dark Chocolate and Kettlekorn. I sampled the swirl and the fusion of the saltiness of the kettle korn, the slight bitter and sweetness of the dark chocolate was immaculate. Final thoughts: very cool experience, inside I could see the open kitchen and the stone wood fired oven and the ingredients tasted amazing. However it is a little inconvenient that it's walk in unless you're a party of 6 since the lines and wait can get incredibly long. It's also difficult to find parking in the area. Very neat experience!

Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. There are some other items on the menu that kept my attention and I would totally revisit to try the other items offered by this restaurant.
