We stopped by for lunch a couple Sundays ago for our last meal before heading back home. Service was fast and the food came out quickly. BEEF STEW NOODLE SOUP - 18.99 + hand-pulled flat noodles Pretty standard beef broth that was light and savory, but the clear winner was definitely the hand-pulled noodles. The texture was the perfectly soft yet chewy, which was incredibly addicting. Despite being full, I kept nibbling at the noodles until we got our checks and the waiter took my bowl away. However, I wish there was more beef stew or bok choy. My bowl only had a few measly chunks of meat and three leaves of vegetables. My friends didn't get the noodle soups but some other dry noodle options. Seemed to be of a hit-or-miss among our group. I'd definitely recommend the noodle soups -- the noodle texture was phenomenal!

We ordered takeout this time, and the overall experience was great. We placed an order online, and everything was very neatly packaged and ready to go when expected. The food even travelled fairly well, such that it was still in good shape after traveling home. The restaurant itself is in a bit of a drab strip mall, but it's generally nicely decorated with colorful signage and a nicely kept interior. In terms of the food, the shrimp spinach dumplings were really nicely done, with lots of flavor and texture. My partner especially enjoyed the barbecue pork bao, which were nicely steamed with a very flavorful filling. The egg tart was good, but not really my thing. It had a bit of a caramelized sugar flavor reminiscent of waffles with syrup. The spicy oil splashed noodles, one of the noodle dishes on the menu, was generally lacking: some nice toppings, but not much flavor. Overall, this is a nice little place that seems to be fairly well run. I suggest going for the dim sum and giving up on expectations for anything on the menu that isn't dim sum. We ordered the roti with tofu instead of chicken though when it came out it was not vegetarian. Luckily, I spotted it and they remade the dish for me. We also got the green mango salad and mushroom laab- all so yummy! The bartender was really great at giving us lots of information and helping us decide what to get and the ambience and vibe is so stunningly beautiful but the food definitely matches that. Such a simple dish but I could eat a VAT of that Roti app once a week for the rest of my life and be better for it LOL. It's seriously so good I crave it constantly. I tried out the lemongrass meatballs this time. They were SO GOOD. Normally I need a thick sauce with a meatball idk it's just who I am. These needed absolutely nothing. They were the perfect texture and I loved the crispy shallots. I've actually never had Khao Soi and man I have been missing out! The meat was seriously so tender I could not get over it. P12 DUCK YOLK PORK RIBS - 17.95 This was my favorite dish of the night that I kept reaching for. The duck yolk crusted exterior provided a salty, eggy flavor that enhanced the juicy pork underneath. I'd come back and order a platter of these for myself. B12 STRING BEAN W. BEEF - 19.95 A classic string bean dish but with shreds of beef! This is a common staple, but one I continued to reach back for since the green beans were pretty crunchy and crispy, and the beef was pretty tender. V07 EGGPLANT W. GARLIC - 15 Pretty saucy eggplant that was fresh with the perfect custard-like flavor. It's a simple dish, but the stir-fried eggplant and the marinade went well with the minced garlic. We also got the (E12) Garlic Fish Filet, (C1) Chicken w. Basil & Garlic, and (B5) Beef & Watercress in Black Pepper Sc. I only had maybe a couple bites of those and can't comment too much since it's been almost two weeks. These dishes are a fan favorite among my CMU alumni friends. The food was good and legit with most dishes priced under $20. Definitely check it out if you're in the area craving Taiwanese food -- one of the best meals I had in Pittsburgh!
