Once in a while, in the Inland Empire, you find a good authentic Asian restaurant (not the kind that primarily serves Orange Chicken or Chow Mein). And once you find that gem, you hold onto it and never let go- this is the real deal. It feels so wrong to be cheating on SGV's Mamma Lu's, but here we are. I used to frequent this spot with coworkers last year, so unfortunately my review is pre-COVID, however, this place has left an impression on me and is living proof that the IE has good dumplings - which must be documented. Before this spot, you'd have to drive over to Min's Dumplings in Chino Hills. BEST ITEMS Pan fried dumplings in either Pork & Cabbage or Shrimp, Green Onion Egg & Pork - crispy on the bottom and so juicy. Boiled Dumplings in either Pork & Cabbage or Chicken & Corn (I found the Beef dumplings to be a little too salty) XLB - almost comparable to places in SGV, even better than some places in Rowland Heights (XLB Bar and Ding's Garden, sorry!!). But also a tad pricier too. Not as good as Mamma Lu's (baseline) or Din Tai Fung (top tier), but still good. Spicy Wontons were also good; also better than some of the ones I've had in Rowland Heights. Not extremely memorable though. Thought this place was amazing before. I went many times and never had a single complaint. I guess things changed with Covid. The most obvious thing that changed was how thick the dough is on their dumplings. I feel that I'm eating more dough than filling. Forget about eating leftovers. Although kind of far from home, this used to be our go-to spot for some pan-fried dumplings. Not sure what has changed in the past year, but we ordered again tonight and were underwhelmed. Beef Noodle Soup: Broth was lacking flavor, and it was so spicy it was completely inedible. The others in my family tried it and confirmed. Had to throw it in the trash. Disappointing. Cucumber appetizer: Again with the heat, lots of little sliced habaneros and jalapeños in every bite, setting our mouths on fire. WAY too spicy to even stomach! I looked in the fridge and found some dumplings. Didn't know where they were from, but I was hungry so I munched on them! I was immediately wowed by the delicious flavors! The corn in the dumpling was also an interesting twist! I enjoyed it a lot and I needed more! I asked my mother where she got it from and she told me Mr. Dumpling! As soon as I had the chance, I made my way over to Rancho! My first visit had me so excited, I wanted to try all the delicious dumpling flavors! I got me an order of the chicken dumps, beef dumps and the xiao long bao! To this day I still can't choose which of the two fried dumplings are my favorite! I think the beef dumpling has a slight edge, but the slightly sweet flavor from the corn in the chicken dumpling has me drooling! The xiao long bao is also great! The hint of peanut butter adds a little something to the flavor. It's not as take out friendly as the other two, so I haven't been ordering it. The sides are also delicious, I recommend the fried rice and the pickles to add a little something to your meal. The beef noodle soup is also really good and super spicy! Holy Moly! The dumplings are amazing! They have so much flavor. We tried the veggie & egg pan fried dumplings, chicken & corn steamed dumplings, and beef & onion steamed dumplings. Located inside a small plaza in Rancho next to a couple other food places too! Lots of parking! Overall this place is definitely "self serve" and a small family, business feel! Right when you walk in, it is free seating and you grab some menus. Once you decide what you want to order, walk to the front register and order! Water and sauce is also self serve in the corner of the shop. We decided to grab some spicy soup dumplings, pan fried pork and corn dumplings, steamed cabbage and pork dumplings, some XLB, pickled cucumbers, and sesame balls (these are red bean filling btw!). Overall everything was incredibly fresh and hand made! It is definitely homemade and better than big places like DinTai Feng or others. The spicy oil also has to be handmade. The dumplings here are very good. I just wish they had several platters where you can get three pieces of different dumplings and a meal. They just give you 10 of one per order. The beef tendon is so tender and delicious. It pairs well with the steamed rice. The juicy dumplings are soupy and perfect with good pork flavor. The crispy dumplings are fried well. They provide hot oil and dipping sauce. Restaurant: 4.5/5 The restaurants eating area does indeed have tons of storage things for take away in it like styrofoam containers, Dixie cup boxes etc... but we are living in a Covid world and who knows if they'll be another lock down and they have to go back to 100% take away again. While it's detracting this isn't a 5 star black and white tie kinda place so I only took off half a star. Take out cases next to my table won't stop me from eating here... Those 5 star ratings are either fake accounts or I just don't get it. It's probably that I just don't get it. I like dumplings, I get a bag at Costco and pan fry them all the time. The Costco dumplings are just as good and maybe tastier then this place. We had the pan fried as well as the steamed dumplings. Both were average and just okay. The chicken wings were nothing special and the fried rice was bland. Overall this is a 2.5 star place at best, I'll round up to 3 stars because I'm feeling generous. Now, there are stacks of restaurant supplies everywhere in the dining area. You are still able to dine inside, but everything is served in take-out containers. Water is no longer served free of charge. Service is a bit unfriendly. The dumplings are still good, but I wouldn't recommend dining in for any special occasions. read more

Food: we ordered: Chicken wings: it was good, hot and tasty 5/5 Cucumber salad: 4/5 maybe needs a little bit more ... We dined in and you order at the counter and find a table. The meals are all in take out containers and the ambiance is very much Costco, with walls of supplies surrounding the table. BETTER THAN DIN TAI FUNG. I honestly feel like their xiaolongbao and panfried is delicious. Din tai fungs portions are very small and I feel the need to dip each xlb in their sauce in order to enjoy it. Plus, their xlb gets dry fast. These on the other hand are juicy and plump. Their xlb are delicious without any sauces. Not to mention their fish panfried was soo good. I didn't want to use any sauces so that I could fully enjoy the flavor. Definitely give this place a try for their fish panfriend and xiaolongbaos. I also ordered their chicken curry rice and it was decent. The chicken was a bit too salty and the curry wasn't the best but try this place anyways for their dumplings! The chilli oil dumplings were good too but it had too much of the chilli soy flavour. 3/5 The only real complaint I would have is that it's not the cleanest place as our water cups smelled like soap BUT I'd go back again without getting water:) read more

Be ready to tip because the guy in the front gets very offended if you don't. I usually come here in the evening but occasionally I go for lunch. The times I have gone in the evening, the staff is very nice complimenting my baby, making small talk and always making sure our water is filled. However, during lunch, there is one specific rude guy, maybe even the owner, that always looks upset to be there. I usually am one to brush off any kind of attitude towards me because I like to give the benefit of the doubt that people are probably just having a bad day. But with this guy, it seems to be every time he is at work. With that being said, I never tip him in particular and happily tip the nice staff in the evening. Well, that didn't sit well with him the day I went in for lunch. After I paid, he noticed that the tip section for the receipt was empty and asked "You don't like to tip?" and i said "No" and he replied with "So you don't like being respectful." Caught off guard and not wanting to cause a scene in front of my kids, I simply replied with "No" and handed him the receipt. He then ripped it out of my hands, scoffed and rolled his eyes. At first, I didn't believe the bad reviews about the staff here but now it makes sense that they were probably about this guy in particular. Just know sir, respect is earned, not given. By far the best vegetarian dumpling I've had in Southern California. Mr. Dumpling is a small casual dining atmosphere but the food speaks for itself. I appreciate that you can get boiled, steamed or fried dumplings which adds more variety. The side dishes like rice and noodles are a great value for the cost. I got the egg and vegetable dumplings (steamed and fried) and while I love steamed dumplings, the fried ones stole my heart. I've been to several dumpling places and they usually just have one vegetarian dumpling option and Mr. Dumpling is no different. The only thing I would note is that the tables are very close together. So it's not uncommon to be eating with another party sitting as close to you as the guests you came with. ‍ read more

I recommend the Chef Special sauce. Also tried the ChongQing spicy noodle soup. The menu warns that its numbing. It was very spicy, basically a soup version of Dan Dan Noodle, but still tolerable.
