It's been a long time since I've eaten here. Saturday night date night. Beach scene is busy and crowded at that time. That's why we have been eating anywhere but the beach. The service is great. Nice people. Constantly asking us if we are "good". The restaurant is beautiful. Well thought out. Now what's important. It is expensive. Which I expected. It's the beach. If they don't charge some ridiculous amount of money. They are not keeping up with the "Joneses ". The food was good. Portions are small for the prices. You can't over charge and then under serve food portions. Overall. It's ok. the food is tasty. I won't say no if I'm asked to go. But it's not on me "beach list" to go again. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Mr. Chow. Located just off the lobby of the W South Beach Hotel, you step down a couple of stairs into the restaurant. Tons of windows made our lunch bright and cheerful. Our meal was delicious with a varied selection. We enjoyed everything very much. I especially loved the mini profiterole. The service and ambiance were good. 2 stars for that. The food was sub-par at best. ZERO stars. The crispy beef was very, very dry. Instead of being served as chunks (like shown in prior review photos), the beef was cut in 2 inch long by 1/4 inch thin strips such that each strip was well done, dry, and like eating jerky. The sweet and sour pork had small battered pieces of pork that were overcooked and under-sauced. The pork appeared like it came from the frozen foods section of a grocery store--mediocre, mass produced nuggets. The portions were small as well despite each dish costing over $55. The green beans were good, but we were charged double ($28) for what looked like single side dish. Also, although the W Hotel lists this as a hotel restaurant, you cannot put the charge on your room. Not a big deal except that I had to return to the room to get a credit card. read more

Genuinely one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. They have no business charging people that much money for these little dishes of bland, unseasoned and uninspired food. You want rice with your $58 side dish size of tough, dry beef? That's an extra charge. You want any dish to come out with even the basics of a garnish? Forget it. The service was pretty good. That was the only redeeming quality. But it didn't at all make up for the terrible food sold at laughable prices. I don't understand the negative reviews of this place! The service from Jeffrey and everyone else was impeccable. We were celebrating our anniversary and it was a great time from start the finish. The chicken satay was amazing, and we loved the noodles! We also got two kinds of chicken but the Beijing chicken was perfect. The chocolate cake and oranges soaked in grand marnier were also awesome. It was very nice in here and everyone did a great job, but Jeffrey was so polite and helpful. I never write reviews ever and I am a big time foody! I initially made reservations and yelp'd it all to find out it was 2.8 stars I immediately cancelled it. Bc I was staying at the W and for convenience I rebooked reservation! It was the most amazing experience! The crispy duck was to die for! I am Asian and I've had plenty of duck in all restaurants. Hands down the best crispy duck I've ever had! My son told me to write a review to tell everyone this is not a 2.8 star restaurant but a 5 star restaurant. The filet was amazing! He then brought two more shots of Lillet wine. ‍ Then proceeded to eat an appetizer... and found a looong hair wrapped around the fried shrimp on my first bite, pulled this Crystal Gale length hair from my mouth... Mr Chow was a random pleasant surprise. Came here unknowingly and left with a satisfied impression. Service was remarkable, and the food left me wanting more. The pasta was made with fresh noodles. And the duck was fabulous. I'm going to try and come back here again before leaving town. I read a lot of reviews of ppl complaining about the prices. Don't expect it to be cheap. The atmosphere and staff were great! It would be hard to work here as an employee dealing with the food. I have had much better at round the corner Chinese and Asian places than here. We ordered the Mr Chow noodles which were strangely similar to canned noodles and sauce. The pepper sauce helped them. We also ordered the pork wantons which lacked any seasoning and were encrusted in this weird art that also had no flavor. The fried steak strips were bland and chewy. The show was the drunken fish which was very tasty. Nothing is served with rice or any other sides unless you upgrade to one of the fixed meals. And then the bill for all of this nonsense nothing special not even good was over 300 dollars for 2 people. Yes we had wine but seriously. Someone needs to tell Mr Chow he doesn't know how to cook anything interesting. At one point a pasta chef came out and chopped noodles in front of everyone like it was something special. This place is great if you want to prove you can spend money but the food is absolute crap and nothing interesting. There is nothing Asian fusion or interesting about the food. Do not go here. Went here on a Sunday night during Art Basel weekend with a girlfriend of mine. Here are my thoughts: Atmosphere: It wasn't lively but it also wasn't dead. Also was say it's pretty formal. Decor: it was quite mid. Nothing special. We were seated by a large bouquet of lilies that had a very sour smell (they were probably dying) Music: 80s rock, alternative rock Food: chicken satay (was fair), Mr. Chow noodles (absolutely horrible; had no taste), crispy beef (was fair), sweet and sour chicken (also fair) Drinks: pins centenario (delicious) Service: Thought it was odd that we were given one drink and food menu for two people. Otherwise, excellent service. They were very attentive. Good for: N/A Comments: I was terribly disappointed with this dining experience. For the lack of taste with the food, I believe they have extreme audacity to charge the prices they do. I like to think my palate is pretty trustworthy and I didn't enjoy the food. I also feel they kind of upsell the customers by trying bf to make you order from the pre-fixe menu rather than being able to choose a few plates to enjoy. Honestly the reviews and photos on here almost discouraged me but my experience was great! Every single employee greeted us when we walked in all the way to the table. We ordered the Salt & Pepper Shrimp 8/10, the Lobster Shumai (9/10) just needed a little sauce on the side in my opinion, the Sweet & Sour Chicken (10/10) and the Shrimp fried rice (9/10) the rice itself was soooooo good. BUT I feel like the shrimp could've been cooked a little longer. Not as if they were undercooked, but just a little too soft in my opinion. Last nights dining experience at Mr. Chow was subpar overpriced Chinese American cuisine. This was not a fine dining experience at all with the exception of the beautiful greeting and welcome by a fine Black gentleman who seated me beautifully and placed my napkin across my lap so elegantly. He gets 5 stars! The service team really tried to provide stellar service but it was overkill as they overcompensated with too many waiters standing around trying to "look" busy. My waiter over talked and was unable to provide an accurate description of the dishes served on the menu. They only provided 1 menu to the table which was a bit confusing considering 2 of us were dining. Too many table tightly seated on top of each other (did you guys forget about the global pandemic?! That still exists). The food was flavorful and the serving of bakchoy for $32 was barely enough to feed my 17month child. The very small serving of lobster shumai was dry and should come with a dipping sauce. My fav of the night was the green beans with a spicy chilly tang with grounded pork. There was absolutely no dessert as they havent gotten any food deliveries. Solution: the restaurant should have complimentary dark trufffles of chocolate for the guests spending $500 for a date night of 2 something sweet is appreciated with your coffee or cognac. I love the W hotels but Mr. Chow in SoBe is not fine dining at all, it is a nicely overpriced American-Chinese meal with no leftovers for take out Lol Go once if you must but there is definitely no need to return a second time when there are so many amazing restaurants to try in Miami Beach. Final bill $425 for 2 and no dessert! Not worth it! read more

We had another fantastic experience at Mr. Chow's iconic Miami Beach dining room!! We over ordered as usual and were delighted by the presentation, service, service, service, and terrific food and beverages ... I wish I could get there every night for dinner! Mr. Chows noodles were PERFECT (the sauce here in Miami Beach is the best in the world of Mr. Chow), the duck was incredible, the green prawns were impeccable!! The people are truly extraordinary as each made us feel as though we were the only patrons! This probably because Brian Murati orchestrates and manages EVERYTHING to perfection. He is a master maestro, and ensured the food arrived perfectly coursed and timed, piping hot, and beautifully arranged. We never had an empty water, champagne, or cocktail glass on the table. And the desserts ... off the charts ... so good. A priceless experience!! We only wish the rumors of closure are false. Even if Miami closes, we will still have Beverly Hills, New York Tribeca or 47th, and London! THANK YOU MR. MURATI! You and your team are truly masters of the art of fine dining!! read more
