Stopped in to check out their famous wings and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered $12 and switched the flavors up with Korean bbq sauce and Yuang sauce. Had to try Bonchon the leading Korean Fried Chicken brand in US this one located in South Beach. Famous for their hand battered chicken and signature sauces. I ordered their drumstick trio $11.99 you get three thick drumsticks, fries and Korean donut. Can't beat that. Great price for so much food. I was so eager to try their chicken that the wait felt as if I waited forever. Finally the food arrived and what a feast. The classic crunch chicken was so delicious even without the sauces. Chicken had a nice crunch so crispy not greasy and so fIavorful. The seasoning was perfect for my taste. Their signature sauces The Korean BBQ, Garlic and Yangnyeom sauce all so good but I prefer the chicken without the sauces just by itself. The fries were crispy and very addictive! I absolutely love this place and love that it's located on such an iconic street in Miami Beach. I believe they're the best chain iwith the best Korean fried chicken. Every single time I crave Asian type wings I always come here and today did not disappoint. I ordered the YumDrum Trio and they were nice enough to give me two flavors on the drumsticks which I really appreciated. My meal consisted of three drumsticks, fries, and a doughnut for an excellent value of $11.99. The value is insane and this place deserves to be way more packed. The vibes inside were really cool with a bunch of TVs near a bar type area. We were able to watch multiple sport games going on while enjoying our food. I also wanna know that they have some of my favorite fries and everything was fried to perfection. Lastly, we were serviced by Kylie and she had the best attitude. This was my first time coming to this place, it's a sit-down restaurant and it was very satisfying! The sizes of the drums are freaking humongous and have a super satisfying crunch! I ordered the Bulgogi Fries and 10 piece mixed wings and drums 1/2 Yangnyeom 1/2 Korean BBQ sauces. The fries are SUPER CRISPY and I enjoyed those a lot! The Bulgogi meat on them was so tasty it went in perfect combination! The chicken tasted pretty good, the sauces were nice and not too spicy. They had a tiny kick to tingle your taste buds. I also had the chance to try the Korean Donuts and they were so amazing, I forgot to take a picture of them! Those definitely hit the spot after the savory fries and crunchy chicken. I recommend them if you enjoy soft pillowy braided donuts that pull apart and are soft in the middle but crispy on the outside. 10 out of 10 for those! This particular location of Bonchon doesn't compare to the rest of its other locations. 1) The boneless wings straight up tastes like they're from wingstop--in the bland and salty way. 2) The portion of fries for $13 was just sad. 3) The "pickled" radishes... were not pickled/fermented. I came here for my first time for a yelp event! I was soo excited to try this place and I'm glad I did. I had the drum trio and boy the drumsticks were huge!! They looked like turkey legs! Service was the worst. We came in the establishment around 2pm to 3pm and server (she said her name is Chanel) never greeted us. Fine, maybe it's self service. So we asked if we had to order up front. When she finally came to our table, she was not pleasant. When our order came, we had to get her attention because there were no spoons to go with our udon soup. I had to get her attention four times to order the donuts. The first time I waved at her, she saw me try to get her attention but she never came to our table. The second time I tried to get her attention, she looked at me and then looked away and never acknowledged us. The third time, she looked at me and went straight to wipe the table next to us and I had to ask her again if we can order something. This was the worst service and Chanel was very rude. I'm a big fan of Bonchon in Orlando, but this Miami location was a huge disappointment. The food wasn't great--especially the chicken wings. They were big, but had a strange smell, like they were taken straight out of the pack and thrown into the fryer without proper prep. What really got me, though, was the sneaky 18% service fee that I didn't notice until after I paid. I was foolish enough to add an extra tip on top of that. No wonder our waitress's attitude changed immediately after we paid--terrible service all around. The staff was inattentive, offered no guidance, and didn't seem to care one bit. This was my first and definitely last visit to this location. Between the tax, the hidden service charge, and the pressure to tip even more, it feels like a cash grab. Very disappointing. I ordered the yum drum trio that comes with the donut and fries. The serving size was definitely way bigger than I thought, and could probably feed two people. Each drumstick was the size of my hand, they were huge. The sauce and flavor that they toss. The chicken in was good. I tried the soy garlic and Korean barbecue. The skin was extra crispy and I loved it. However, it felt like they just tossed the plain fried chicken with the sauce over it, which I don't really mind but also after you eat the crunchy skin there wasn't much flavor after that. But I am super happy that this is in the area now and if I ever have a craving for a crispy fried chicken, I will definitely come here first. So this Mother's Day, I had one wish: Bonchon. And my amazing husband made it happen -- we drove all the way from Cutler Bay just to satisfy my craving. And wow, was it worth it. This is the best undiscovered place in Miami. I didn't know they existed at the beach and now I'm sharing with you. Go! The fried chicken is truly the crispiest. I couldn't believe it. Forget the grocery store fried chicken for your holiday party, this is way way better! Better quality better crunch. I also tried the chicken katsu. Well, my family of Three didn't even get to the food part after waiting for our food for more than an hour. When we begin to noticed that people who ordered after us getting their food we knew something was wrong. Our server kept telling us that the food is coming out, LIES! I can't believe that my family, Korean Americans, actually got discriminated at the Korean Fried Chicken place is just beyond me. As a new resident of Miami Beach, I decided to give this establishment a try. As a chef, I'm reluctant to try chain restaurants, but I thought why not. I was seated brought water, asked my order. After placing my order 3 minutes later there server (Robert) returned and said "Come with me". I was walked to the register to repeat then pay for my food before receiving anything! I was taken back as I'm watching others dine and enjoy their meals without being pressed to pay. I even watched a couple get Togo boxed after eating bag their food and then pay. This all made me extremely uncomfortable. The profiling here on the beach is out of control. I expect it from a smaller restaurant but with a brand this big YOU HAVE TO DO BETTER! Ordered 3 times from them, 1st time was good, 2nd time was amazing, but the 3rd time was awful. They sent me reheated pieces (hard to bite into it) of chicken and the wings were very tiny compared with the previous 2 times; they also sent me just plain wings as opposed to Korean bbq I ordered. The atmosphere and the store itself is very nice but the food is much left to be desired. The side dishes, the pickled radish wasn't pickled just chopped up daikon radish. The kimchi is old and marinated incorrectly. The ttebokki was extremely over cooked, the fish cakes were soggy and the sauce was a watered down and not the right flavor. The yangnyum sauce was tasty however the chicken had a fried shell and no cohesive. The corn cheese only okay dish. Corndog dry seasoning was okay but actual corn dog tasted stale and artificial. The service was okay the staff seemed overwhelmed with not too many customers in store. Seems they need to just take orders at the front and call out the names versus trying to do table service and take out separately. The manager kept going into kitchen and touching food with no gloves and didn't seem to wash hands in between in kitchen and front of the house. Overall was not a very good representation of typical Bonchon or even Korean experience. read more
