Hello, for context, my wife and I have been coming to SoBe 3-5 times for the past 25 years. Although, Miami can be pricey, but usually you can justify the spend. Front Porch has always been a spot we dined at, mostly for breakfast, but sometimes lunch and dinner. At times, we would stay at the Z Hotel just for Front Porch. Unfortunately, that has changed, and I would never go back or accept a free meal or service--imagine that, never accept a free meal in Miami. The service was bad, actually the waiter was fair to ok, but the bleach blonde older server consumed the air out of the room. She was grumpy, not engaging, and when she spoke her voice was so deep and off putting that it frightened me. The culinary offerings, reminds me of a hospital cafeteria from the 80s/90s . The worst part was the theming and lack of ambiance. It felt like a seedy nightclub or raggedy adult club you have to take a shower after leaving. I had to apologize to wife for such a poor experience. Bad husband! Also, I believe the operation was being managed or run by a small family of 4/5 people with no hospitality, culinary, or service experience. Finally, for $100, I never have to go there again. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Over priced, terrible service. Claimed to be super busy, it wasn't even half full. It took 45 minutes to get water and close to 1:30 to get food. There were 4 of us. We all ordered the same thing it was just eggs, meat, pancake and toast and 1 coffee. With the service charge it was $170. That and only 1 person received toast. After asking we were all almost done eating before it was received. A humerus point. She brought 3 orders of dry toast (I'm fine with dry toast) there was a single pat of butter with the 3 orders. The menu also stated multigrain toast, it was white toast for the late 3 orders. You can tell the waitress didn't care. She already gets the 20% service charge. We asked for the check 3 times. It took over 30 minutes + to get that. To the point that my daughter that came to visit had to leave before I paid so she could get to the airport on time. I've been coming to The Front Porch Café since the days it lived at the Z Ocean Hotel on 14th Street--back when the food was stellar, the servers cared, and the place had a pulse. Those days are long gone. New owners, new location, new nightmare. My friend and I ordered the hummus platter as an appetizer, and I genuinely wish we hadn't. The hummus was a disturbing, sickly yellow and tasted off--as if it had spent a few too many days sitting somewhere it shouldn't. To make matters worse, it came with shredded onions, shredded carrots, and wilted lettuce. I have no idea what universe this combination is considered a proper pairing for hummus. I honestly felt like I'd stepped into an unedited episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, waiting for him to burst through the kitchen doors yelling about rotten ingredients. The service? Atrocious. We had to ask multiple times for simple things--ice, oil, vinegar--and still ended up empty-handed. And this was with the restaurant practically empty. If this is how they operate on a slow day, I don't even want to imagine what chaos looks like here. Then came the main courses: chicken parm and the coconut vegan curry. Both arrived looking like they'd survived a rough journey through a sewer system. The flavors matched the presentation--confusing, unappetizing, and absolutely not worth even a fraction of the price. Hands down, this is the worst eatery on Ocean Drive--and possibly all of Miami Beach. Save your money, save your stomach, and stay far, far away. I decided on this spot while on vacation due to menu, ratings. The host wanted to sit us outside along with the rest of the folks but it was a bit breezy so me + guest opted to eat in. It has a beachy smell. The decor is soooo dated, worn out. I think it's the same items they had when they opened in 1989. The overhead music sounds like music u would play at a funeral viewing. The server took the order which he was decent and the only server for the whole place. I thought I would get my coffee before my meal but I guess not. My guest stated his orange juice was ok. We were in there for 31 minutes and nothing so we left. read more

Had a very okay brunch here. The location is great in terms of it being on Ocean Dr and across from the beach. It is also pretty large with a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I liked my dish (1/2 French toast with scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes) a lot! The eggs were perfectly cooked (not too overdone). The portion sizes of everything are pretty big, especially the iced coffees and the side dishes of potatoes. We also got a free photo printed for us of our table, which was very sweet and a nice memento. I will just note that the furnishings were a bit dated (my chair had stains and strands of hair on it) and the paper towel dispenser / soap dispenser in the bathroom didn't work. read more

This was one of the worst service experiences we've had. From the moment we placed our order, the staff member appeared careless and uninterested. We ordered a regular coffee but were given an Americano without any explanation. We chose not to question it initially, assuming there might be a reason. Unfortunately, things only got worse. We ordered a Mediterranean dish and a Denver dish, but were served a Veggie dish instead. We hadn't touched the food and politely asked about it, only to be told--without any attempt to verify--that we had ordered incorrectly. When we asked again about the coffee, the staff insisted that what we received was correct, despite it clearly not matching what we ordered. At that point, we decided to leave, as we did not want to let this experience ruin our trip. However, the situation escalated further. As the staff member removed the incorrect dish, she threw the fork and knife onto the table in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. We asked to speak with a supervisor, but were told there was no one available. Only after going to the counter ourselves were we informed that the brewed coffee machine was broken--something that should have been communicated from the beginning instead of misleading customers. This is not about a simple mistake or the cost. Mistakes can happen. What is unacceptable is the attitude, the lack of accountability, and the complete disregard for basic customer service. We paid for the coffee and left, but the experience left a deeply negative impression and significantly impacted our morning. read more

We went on a Tuesday night so we didn't think about anything when it wasn't very crowded in the restaurant. But there was a reason - service and food was atrocious. I had the Coconut Curry with Crispy Tofu. It sounded delicious, but the tofu was drenched in oil, the coconut curry was really not curry ( no idea what it really was) the broccoli had no flavor, and the rice was anything but basmati. A 6 year old could have cooked this dish. My friend had a burger that was ok but also had no taste. We paid way too much for the meal and the waitress wasn't really into serving anyone, and was rude. I was looking for specialty lattes and a nice skirt steak with chimichurri but they were not serving lunch items at 11am yet, so I didn't get to try it. And they had a limited tea selection, no black tea or green tea? I just opted for water. It wasn't horrible but we were on vacation and wanted to enjooooyy our time on south beach with a nice meal. I found this place using InKind and I regret using my cash back credits here. Service was decent and staff were nice but the food was soo mediocre. If you want to enjoy a meal this is not the place. I asked for a over hard egg and I got an egg so runny that it ran all over the rest of the food so since it took 30 minutes to come out I ask them to just remove it and bring me more syrup so I could at least eat my pancakes. This has been our go-to every year we're in Miami for our girls trip/Carnival. This particular visit was very underwhelming. Seemed like the kitchen staff wasn't hitting the mark because 3 of 4 plates had to be sent back. We were greeted at the entrance, able to pick our own table and our server was on point. We ordered a shrimp salad, smoked salmon omelettes and the corned beef hash plate. The omelettes were veggie with no salmon. The shrimp salad had none of the toppings and stale tortilla chips. It was just so unfortunate and the language barrier was a challenge to understand the issue in the kitchen. We were comped with mimosas for the table. The patio is the only place we sit at and get a view of passerby on Ocean Dr. There's plenty of seating and great breezes come through the patio! I really wanted to love this place. We stopped here before heading home from a conference. It was a weekday around 11am. They offered us inside or outside seating. We chose outside - the furniture is great! What you would have on your back patio, comfortable seating with thick cushions. We had waters and tea. For brunch, I ordered the fruit french toast which is challah bread. It was good. The vanilla cream was a little too sweet so I didn't use a lot of it. The fruit was delicious and the challah was cooked well. My husband ordered the crab cake benny with breakfast potatoes. As you can see in a photo provided, there is not much "crab cake" for the $28 entree. It was mainly filler with some bits of crab and what was provided was thin (as you will see). The potatoes had an old oil taste + rosemary - they were just ok. The eggs were perfectly poached. Presentation was spot on. Unfortunately, overall I would not visit again. The food was hit or miss but the service was subpar. We had to ask for a drink refill. (For context, there were 3 tables and each of us had our own server.) Our waitress disappeared for long periods. And then to add insult to injury, when the waitress stood at our table for us to review the bill and pay - they added a 20% service charge automatically but this was not noted/mentioned as she read our bill to us. It feels like the places that add auto-gratuity tend to forget to still work for their customers. That is sad because it ends up costing the business the customers. read more

I like supporting Miami institutions and I do think that these guys are a breakfast institution here on Ocean Drive. They've always been incredibly dependable, but I do feel that service, quality and value have gone downhill. Their corned beef hash breakfast had a minuscule amount of corned beef hash - which is supposed to be the main dish and took a long time to come to the table. Eggs were very overdone. It took 15 minutes to see a waiter and then had to ask three times for the check. I think I'll stick to the Chia pudding (typically very tasty and fast to prepare) early on empty weekdays, which seems like a good bet. read more

Review for Front Porch Café - South Beach We've been coming to South Beach for years, and the Front Porch Café was always a must for us -- great food, good service, and a fun atmosphere. Sadly, this visit completely changed our impression. The restaurant has moved from its longtime hotel location (which is now closed) about half a mile down the street. We found it easily enough, but the new spot just doesn't have the same appeal. Still, we were excited to return and sat down with high expectations. Our waitress, Gisela, greeted us kindly, brought coffee and water, and took our order. Unfortunately, that was the last time she came to our table. We sat for nearly 30 minutes without food, watching at least seven other tables (three that arrived after us) receive theirs. Gisela seemed more interested in getting more tables than checking on the ones she already had. When I finally went inside to ask, no one could tell us whether our order was never entered or if the kitchen lost it. We were told they'd check with the kitchen, but by that point it didn't matter -- we had lost our patience and appetite. It's a real shame. Front Porch was always a staple of our trips to Miami, but this experience left us so disappointed that we don't plan to return next time. Hopefully they can work out the issues at the new location and with the staff, because right now it feels like a very different restaurant than the one we loved. Absolutely ridiculous do not come here. No seasoning at all on any of the food, eggs were completely bare, potatoes were completely bare and French toast was basically a piece of stale bread with powdered sugar on it... iced latte was completely watered down and our iced water was filled with tiny black specs. When we asked for new waters they said that's just what happens with their tap water. We had to pay for sparkling water to have clean drinking water. I had a very disappointing experience at The Front Porch café. The service was extremely slow and it took forever for the food to arrive. When it finally came, the portions were shockingly small. The adult burgers were priced at $23, yet the size was smaller than a kids burger at McDonald's. Fries were not included and cost an additional $5, which felt unreasonable given the portion sizes. On top of that, the water that was served had visible particles floating in it, which was very concerning. When it came time to pay, there was an automatic 20% service charge added on top of tax, without clear explanation upfront. Then the girl I can only describe as the "lightly attired girl to attract customers at the front" showed up about 15 minutes after their opening time. She brought me a menu, when I told her I'd already placed an order 15 minutes ago, she made a face at me. I guess showing up for work on time is inconvenient. The plate looked nice on arrival, but the English muffin underneath was stale to the point of being impossible to cut with the provided knife. Then it took 20 minutes to pay. This is a tourist trap from hell. My husband ordered a 6$ side of avocado, they brought him pre-made guacamole. It was vile. When my husband pointed it out, they brought real avocado. Like they assumed he was a tourist who wouldn't care. And even if he was, he deserved better!!The Philly steak omelet is made with cornbeef hash. Wtf??? The 'brioche' French toast is white bread. I eat here often as the food is quite good and the service is generally excellent. It is busy at South Beach with spring break so I expected service to be slower and tables harder to come by. I waited patiently at the check-in podium ehile the hostess was busy attending to other matters but after about 10 minutes several people who had just walked up stopped her and she sat them all ignoring that I was waiting. Fortunately she sat me at the last available table ehich had not been cleaned off. She removed the dishes but did nothing to clean the table. Unacceptable! The waiter still was an awesome server and the foid quite good. Overpriced but quite consistent with prices at the beach and food is far better than all the other places on Ocean Drive so definitely worth it. I always order the eggs with smoke salmon. My puppy orders the bacon. We were both, as always, very happy with our meals. I will come back. The hostesses change and the next one will probably earn them that fourth star back. But the poor reception and dirty table are an inexcusable lapse, even if not usual. read more
