Tech came out in his own vehicle and had no uniform on, but we were expecting him so we let him in. Did an ok job actually sweeping the chimney, but when he used his shop vac it must have had a defective (or no) filter because he sprayed a fine mist of soot over every surface of the house. We didn't notice until he left and we started to notice. We sent Mr Chimney photos and emailed, called and texted and were told "we'll get back to you..." but they never did. We are disputing the $188 credit card charge in hopes of recuperating some losses. I will NEVER use these people again - TERRIBLE customer service!!! read more

Well he came he sweeped and he charged $1859 and tole me my fireplace was safe to use two times as i wanted to make sure. I was checking out the freplace the next day and saw the fireplace walls were cracked and the shoot was rusted and pieces falling off! Do not use this company. I used Mr. Chimney for a cleaning earlier in the season. The two individuals that came did what appeared at the time to be a cleaning. Upon leaving they suggested that my chimney was in disrepair and completely unsafe to use - quoting me $3,300 in repairs. We have been using the fireplace in our house ~20 times a season without issue, so I scheduled a company to come give a second opinion. Two days later, I noticed that my chimney crown was sitting on my front lawn (apparently having been knocked off my roof). When the second company came, they said that my chimney, while not up to the latest code, was completely safe to use. They also mentioned that it appeared to be very dirty suggesting it had not been cleaned well. In addition, they quoted me 3/5ths the price for the cleaning and the repairs that Mr. Chimney wanted to make. Mr. Chimney perpetuates the bad name associated with this industry. Beware. read more

Mr. Chimney recently replaced in our downstairs fire place the original terra-cotta clay lining and also needed the replacement of the damper. The entire area of the basement was closed off under a tent like cover which prevented any dust escaping into our finished basement. The quality of the workmanship was exceptional. The first, a Chimney Company had two people go up on the roof and look at it. Their estimate $1,400. The second was a Mason, he looked at it from the ground. His estimate $1,200. Mr Chimney was the third estimate, he also looked at it from the ground. His estimate $6,800. I called Mr. Chimney after I started getting rainwater into my chimney. The team came out a day or so later to inspect. Rey was super helpful, went up on the roof, took pictures and showed me the issues with the crown. Inside, he inspected the smoke chamber and pointed out the wear and what needed to be repaired to bring the chimney up to code and be safe. He provided an estimate a day or so later for work on the damper, smoke chamber and to replace the crown. He was super responsive, answered my calls and answered my questions. For all the work to be done, they were very reasonable with their estimate. I decided to go with them for the job. Alex and his team showed up to do the work and I could not be more pleased. They were super friendly, but most of all hardworking and super competent. He pointed out the issues I had and how he would fix them. I phoned Mr. Chimney for an estimate after the technician who had cleaned our chimney and inspected the chimney and fireplace the previous month told me we would need repairs that came to just under $2,000. These included replacing the bottom damper, re-grouting the bricks, and repairing the firebox. It's a good thing I called Mr. Chimney for a second opinion. Their technician found that the bottom damper was a bit rusty, but not close to needing to be replaced, and that everything else was just fine. Especially as a first-time customer, I really appreciate the technicians honesty. What more can I say about a technician who saved me close to $2,000 in unneeded repairs? read more

Unfortunately have had a terrible experience with this Company. Had asked for help with a down draft, they ended up removing my existing cap, installed new ones (which look terrible by the way) and more importantly now I have water coming down my chimney when it rains. Have had to call multiple times and the people that come to the house are not the ones that do the actual work. I am now looking at potential repairs in excess of $5k (I can't even get this Company to call me back). I would not recommend having this Company do anything other than simple jobs. Warning; they are not honest. They told me I had dangerous crystalline creosote that could only be removed with a power tool using chains, cost $600. Then I find out this device is likely to destroy my clay chimney liner and is over aggressive. Finally I learn from a competent chimney sweep that I only have a light coating of creosote that was easily removed with conventional wire brushes. Multiple visits, they ordered parts then lost them, cancelled appointments 3 times. Now after the most recent visit 3 weeks ago the unit stopped working after 1 day, called the office multiple times and never heard back from anyone. Adam Deutsch removed an inoperable wood-burning fireplace for a gas fireplace. The work was done by consummate professionals in less than two days with a team of three men taking out the old and installing the new. The next day, one man made sure everything was correctly installed with the blower and remote. Mr. Deutsch supervised everything and returned to install new insulation behind the wall. Everyone left the house as good as they found it and hauled away the discarded debris. I contacted Mr. chimney through yelp and someone got back to me right away and scheduled appointment within few days. I recently moved into my home that had a fireplace and I had no idea whether or not previous tenants ever used the fireplace and if it needed to be cleaned. There was also a banging noise that I would hear mostly when it was windy or stormy out. The two guys that came from Mr. chimney were professional, polite, and determine what the issue was very quickly. They found that the fireplace had not been used and they also were able to identify the source of the banging noise.Unfortunately it will have to wait until spring to be fixed but it did put my mind at ease that nothing dreadful was the cause of the noise. I called and scheduled to have a chimney cap reinstalled. ( fell down after a hurricane) I gave them the dimensions of the cap which had fallen and was told that the basic fee for the service would be $149.00. I booked the appointment of which I had to wait 2 weeks. When they arrived immediately I was told that the cap could not be installed for the quoted price. The workers also mentioned that my chimney was very high. After several calls from the worker to his boss, when he finally was able to speak to him, I was told that the cost would be $350.00. I wasn't aware that they charge according to the height of a chimney. Needless to say, I did not have the worked performed. I don't like doing business with bait and switch companies.
