We hired McCrackin's Mr. Chimney to install a remote ignition for our gas fireplace and to change the log set. Everyone was fabulous, from the staff who handle calls and scheduling, to the folks who performed the work and to Phil himself. We highly recommend this company!! read more

Excellent service and reliable repair work I Used this service after trying a different "fly by night" chimney/fireplace repair company. Mr. Chimney was efficient and very professional. They didn't have the chimney cap I needed in stock but ordered one and returned a few days later and did a great job. I would certainly recommend them and also advise against any other companies saying they are chimney/fireplace repair services- or using similar names. Mr. Chimney is the one that you WANT to use ! read more

My experience was that the tech was lazy and dishonest. Won't deal with them again. Sorry.

Tech came out in his own vehicle and had no uniform on, but we were expecting him so we let him in. Did an ok job actually sweeping the chimney, but when he used his shop vac it must have had a defective (or no) filter because he sprayed a fine mist of soot over every surface of the house. We didn't notice until he left and we started to notice. We sent Mr Chimney photos and emailed, called and texted and were told "we'll get back to you..." but they never did. We are disputing the $188 credit card charge in hopes of recuperating some losses. I will NEVER use these people again - TERRIBLE customer service!!! read more

I just wanted my chimney cleaned, but I got so much more. Mario did a great job cleaning my chimney, but he gave me so much helpful and important info regarding what I should and shouldn't do when using my chimney. Besides being professional and so very nice, he really seemed to like what he was doing in helping homeowners, and that's always nice to see. I will let everyone in my condo community know that Mr.Chimney is the one to call. read more

I had Mr Chimney come out to inspect my fireplace for the $89 promotion they have going. Well he came he sweeped and he charged $1859 and tole me my fireplace was safe to use two times as i wanted to make sure. I was checking out the freplace the next day and saw the fireplace walls were cracked and the shoot was rusted and pieces falling off! Do not use this company. If i would have started a fire as he stated was safe I would have burnt my house down. read more

Excellent service, reliable and on time, they fixed a problem with our gas fireplace outside and diagnosed the issue promptly. They then repaired and replaced the fireplace. We will continue to use this company to service our fireplaces and maintain them. read more

My boiler maintenance company recommended Mr. Chimney for an inspection. They came promptly and recommended a new liner given the condition of the current liner. They showed me photos of what was going on, which justified the necessary investment. In less than a week, the crew was onsite doing the necessary replacement. Just like the inspection, the team was very efficient and professional. They kept me posted on their progress. I stopped in halfway through their work and I could not believe the amount of effort they were using to get the job done correctly. When they were done, my basement was cleaner than when they started. The quality of their work far exceeded the cost of the job. I'm very happy with the outcome and have recommended them to family, friends and neighbors. a great investment and more importantly, peace of mind. THANK YOU read more

I used Mr. Chimney for a cleaning earlier in the season. The two individuals that came did what appeared at the time to be a cleaning. Upon leaving they suggested that my chimney was in disrepair and completely unsafe to use - quoting me $3,300 in repairs. We have been using the fireplace in our house ~20 times a season without issue, so I scheduled a company to come give a second opinion. Two days later, I noticed that my chimney crown was sitting on my front lawn (apparently having been knocked off my roof). When the second company came, they said that my chimney, while not up to the latest code, was completely safe to use. They also mentioned that it appeared to be very dirty suggesting it had not been cleaned well. In addition, they quoted me 3/5ths the price for the cleaning and the repairs that Mr. Chimney wanted to make. Mr. Chimney perpetuates the bad name associated with this industry. Beware. read more

Request a boiler Chimney check., which hasn't been cleaned in years. They inspected the chimney and found it needed a liner. The price was competitive. The installers were on time and very neat. Would recommend this company. read more

they said they would do a deep clean to get rid of creosote and charge over 500 dollars. they said they were done in 45 min of work and was not cleaned. absolutely terrible. also they show a 5 star rating on their ad somehow which is not editable and is a scam. what a waste of money and time. read more

horrible. set up someone to come out and take a look at my chimney. NEVER SHOWED UP and i called several times and the only man who answers was the most unhelpful. also i find it CRAZY that i called and asked for a price and i was told the tech has to come out first, charge you $49 to come look, THEN they will venture an idea on price. so what I'm just locked in to your bs because i already started paying you? totally useless. i needed a chimney sweep. this really should not of been the issue it was. took this morning off to be home from "9-11" yeah HILARIOUS! I WISH I COULD GIVE YOU ZERO STARS read more

Mr. Chimney recently replaced in our downstairs fire place the original terra-cotta clay lining and also needed the replacement of the damper. The entire area of the basement was closed off under a tent like cover which prevented any dust escaping into our finished basement. The quality of the workmanship was exceptional. They also cleaned out the upstairs fireplace with the same protective tent. For anyone homeowner looking for the best chimney company I highly recommend Mr. Chimney Clean. read more

What kind of company won't let you speak to the anyone you wish to in order ro complain about the way you were treated? Or where the owner won't call you back? This company ! Yup this is the one . Interesting is they have a bunch of great reviews and a bunch of terrible ones . They must be doing something right . Wish I found out what it was . But because I could only speak to the one person at the company I will never find out . But everything happens for a reason I am glad I never had a chance for them to disappoint me as they did to many read more

Thank you to all at Mr. Chimney! Adam was knowledgeable and took the time to explain pre warming. He addressed my concerns and made sure the fireplace was clean and safe to use. Also, thank you to Jenny in the office who was wonderful, helpful and so kind. I highly recommended Mr. Chimney to anyone with a fireplace. The service fee was so reasonable and worth every penny to know our fireplace is safe to use for another year. Thank you again to everyone at Mr. Chimney! I'll be calling you again and I hope others will as well. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. read more

Came to fix my gas fireplace. Hasn't worked since. The techs were nice, but nobody ever calls me back. Ever. I was always promised a call back, but it never happened. And I call and call and a woman answers and tells me someone will call me back. It's a lie. All lies, they have my $500 and I guess they're done with me now. read more

I called Mr. Chimney after I started getting rainwater into my chimney. The team came out a day or so later to inspect. Rey was super helpful, went up on the roof, took pictures and showed me the issues with the crown. Inside, he inspected the smoke chamber and pointed out the wear and what needed to be repaired to bring the chimney up to code and be safe. He provided an estimate a day or so later for work on the damper, smoke chamber and to replace the crown. He was super responsive, answered my calls and answered my questions. For all the work to be done, they were very reasonable with their estimate. I decided to go with them for the job. Alex and his team showed up to do the work and I could not be more pleased. They were super friendly, but most of all hardworking and super competent. He pointed out the issues I had and how he would fix them. They covered everything in plastic, wore "booties" and honestly, not a speck of dust or soot in the house. Tremendous. I would recommend Mr. Chimney without reservation. They are excellent. read more

There are some great reviews (and some not so great), maybe they do a great job. However I had 3 estimates for my chimney (which needed repointing). The first, a Chimney Company had two people go up on the roof and look at it. Their estimate $1,400. The second was a Mason, he looked at it from the ground. His estimate $1,200. Mr Chimney was the third estimate, he also looked at it from the ground. His estimate $6,800. Addendum: WARNING if you give a review the owner doesn't like he would be giving you harassing telephone calls, multiple times a day. read more

Very good customer service prompt reply and the service technicians are outstanding. Will go the extra yard to ensure the repairs are safe and correct. Will definitely use again... Thanks guys ! read more

I phoned Mr. Chimney for an estimate after the technician who had cleaned our chimney and inspected the chimney and fireplace the previous month told me we would need repairs that came to just under $2,000. These included replacing the bottom damper, re-grouting the bricks, and repairing the firebox. It's a good thing I called Mr. Chimney for a second opinion. Their technician found that the bottom damper was a bit rusty, but not close to needing to be replaced, and that everything else was just fine. Especially as a first-time customer, I really appreciate the technicians honesty. What more can I say about a technician who saved me close to $2,000 in unneeded repairs? read more

We had a great experience with Mr. Chimney. We recently moved into our house and had some issues with a leak around the chimney that was coming into our master bedroom, as well as the fact that the chimney itself was old and hadn't been cleaned in ages. Steve Cipriani from Mr. Chimney did a wonderful job of walking us through the repairs and was there every step of the way when we had questions. He went out of his way to help us out and provide information that'll be helpful as we move forward with new home ownership. Our leak is fixed and the fireplace is working wonderfully in this new cold weather! We'd highly recommend Mr. Chimney for any fireplace or chimney-related needs and will definitely be working with them more in the future. read more

Unfortunately have had a terrible experience with this Company. Had asked for help with a down draft, they ended up removing my existing cap, installed new ones (which look terrible by the way) and more importantly now I have water coming down my chimney when it rains. Have had to call multiple times and the people that come to the house are not the ones that do the actual work. I am now looking at potential repairs in excess of $5k (I can't even get this Company to call me back). I would not recommend having this Company do anything other than simple jobs. Wish I never called them. read more

We had them convert our traditional fireplace to a gas log fireplace. They accommodated our scheduling needs, showed up as promised and did a clean, efficient job. The people are friendly, reliable and skilled. We recommend them highly. read more

Warning; they are not honest. They told me I had dangerous crystalline creosote that could only be removed with a power tool using chains, cost $600. Then I find out this device is likely to destroy my clay chimney liner and is over aggressive. Finally I learn from a competent chimney sweep that I only have a light coating of creosote that was easily removed with conventional wire brushes. I wonder if the business planted some of the favorable reviews. Why does this industry attract so many frauds? read more

After posting my first review, I was contacted by the company to let me know they had computer issues and lost all their contacts. Within a few days we had an in home estimate, and a few days later the crew came to do the work. I was just able to use the fireplace for the first time, and I'm so happy to see it working properly! read more

Finally figured out why I was getting that fireplace smell in my home even if I hadn't used my fireplace! Drove me crazy, smelled like campfire in my house. Mike came to the rescue. Did a general sweep and determined my flue wasn't closing all the way. It was cracked just enough to let in the odors from my neighbors chimneys Now I just have to pull the flue closed harder. Thanks for figuring it out. Prompt service, reasonably priced, and friendly knowledgeable staff! read more

This company is tops! They are honest, professional & responsive. They came out for the chimney furnace flue cleaning & drafting. My furnace was burning really rich & the soot build up looked like the gates of hell. Thank you Mr. Chimney read more

Trusted contractors are hard to find in this business - and Mr. Chimney is one of good ones. I highly recommend them. I was very worried about having someone come and look at our "new" 100 year old home's fireplace and chimney, so I did a lot of research - and it paid off. As most of the other reviews have noted, I found them to be prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need - and even suggested that my fireplace was in such good shape that it didn't require a cleaning. How's that for honesty? Ask for Adam if he's available! read more

Mr. Chimney was attentive and well-organized in booking my appointment. The technician Adam Deutsch was prompt, courteous and informative with my gas fireplace and flue. Positive experience all around, thank you! read more

My gas fireplace was acting up, these guys had no clue what they were doing. Maybe there good at doing Chimney work but I would NOT use them for a fireplace repair. Multiple visits, they ordered parts then lost them, cancelled appointments 3 times. Now after the most recent visit 3 weeks ago the unit stopped working after 1 day, called the office multiple times and never heard back from anyone. I even had the techs number and he said nothing he can do its out of his hands. One of the worst companies I have dealt with in a long time. read more

I just moved here from PEI, Canada. Our winters begin in October and last until June. We all use wood fires for heat so I know what it takes to maintain the chimney. The house I moved in had never maintained the fireplace or flue. Big mess. Big smell. I called Mr. Chimney and they gave me a service call quickly, showed up pretty much on time and had the work done without a big mess of soot. Gee Mr. Chimney, you should have an office in PEI, Canada, you would get everyone's business. Thanks Ruthanne Patterson read more

Chimney sweep companies have bad reps for overcharging and taking advantage of customers. NOT Mr. Chimney!!! Honest, affordable and most of all Clean!! Spent 8 hrs in my house on a major job, including removing bricks. When finished there was no sign of a contractors presence, let alone mason work!!! Unbelievable!! No up charges, everything explained fully and shown before work. Highly recommend!!! read more

Adam Deutsch removed an inoperable wood-burning fireplace for a gas fireplace. The work was done by consummate professionals in less than two days with a team of three men taking out the old and installing the new. The next day, one man made sure everything was correctly installed with the blower and remote. Mr. Deutsch supervised everything and returned to install new insulation behind the wall. Everyone left the house as good as they found it and hauled away the discarded debris. Communication was easy, and Mr. Deutsch was always responsive letting me know exactly when he and the workmen would arrive. We had used this company to clean our chimney when we had a house. Now we have returned for their expert service for the new fireplace in our condo. read more

I contacted Mr. chimney through yelp and someone got back to me right away and scheduled appointment within few days. I recently moved into my home that had a fireplace and I had no idea whether or not previous tenants ever used the fireplace and if it needed to be cleaned. There was also a banging noise that I would hear mostly when it was windy or stormy out. The two guys that came from Mr. chimney were professional, polite, and determine what the issue was very quickly. They found that the fireplace had not been used and they also were able to identify the source of the banging noise.Unfortunately it will have to wait until spring to be fixed but it did put my mind at ease that nothing dreadful was the cause of the noise. I will definitely be calling them back in the spring! read more

I called and scheduled to have a chimney cap reinstalled. ( fell down after a hurricane) I gave them the dimensions of the cap which had fallen and was told that the basic fee for the service would be $149.00. I booked the appointment of which I had to wait 2 weeks. When they arrived immediately I was told that the cap could not be installed for the quoted price. The workers also mentioned that my chimney was very high. After several calls from the worker to his boss, when he finally was able to speak to him, I was told that the cost would be $350.00. I wasn't aware that they charge according to the height of a chimney. Needless to say, I did not have the worked performed. I don't like doing business with bait and switch companies. Therefore, buyer beware. This company is not reliable. read more
