After talking with Filton for a bit we opted to try the Black Forest and Mango cake pieces. The cakes were DELICIOUS! Clearly using excellent ingredients and prepared by expert bakers. Filton had just finished making the Black Forest cake to boot! We had a WONDERFUL experience with this bakery. Both of my kids are allergic to egg so it's rare that we are able to get a delicious cake for a special occasion that they can actually eat! I texted the owner about their eggless Black Forest cake and the bakery had it ready for me to pick up, egg free and also peanut free, with personalization on the cake as well. I also want to add that the cake was delicious! Light and not too sweet. Every layer had been soaked with a bit of cherry syrup so that the cherry flavor was present throughout the cake. Every layer was moist and not dry at all. There also weren't think layers of overly sweet frosting. It was also decorated beautifully. We ate almost the entire cake in one sitting. We picked the cake up on a Friday and kept it in the fridge overnight. The next day, the Black Forest cake was delicious and moist! Highly recommend the Butterscotch cake, egg puffs and Dilpasand (sweet puff) here. We ordered a 8 inch Butterscotch cake. The cake was soft, moist and light. The flavor and sweetness were perfect. I am not a huge fan of the Butterscotch flavor, but I really really liked this cake and wanted to eat more and more. The crunchy caramelized pecans on top were so yummy. The Butterscotch cake tasted exactly like the one from Chennai's Shree Mithai Sweet Shop. The cake cost around 34$. Santosh, the baker was really sweet and was willing to accommodate contactless pickup. He's new in town and recently moved from LA. He makes several other interesting desserts and snacks like mawa cake, pineapple cake, black forest, gajjar halwa cake, egg and veg puffs, Indian style plum cake, Mango cake and is willing to make a cake for pickup in less than an hour - I did order two days in advance though. He also perfectly wrote the message I requested for and spelt the birthday person's name correctly, despite me having it mentioned only once - I loved that I didn't have to fix the message on cake and it was such a nice experience to not have to constantly repeat the message on the cake while ordering. Also, he does deliver around in the Mountain View area, if you're looking for delivery. Looking forward to order more cakes from here. Happy to have found a new bakery for birthday surprises! I accidentally came across this amazing gem. I'm not typically a sweets person and had stopped by while riding my bicycle to a friend's place. I wanted to bring a little treat for her and her daughter. I bought a couple of things and they were all AMAZING! 1) vegetable pastry puff - super crunchy and full of flavor! 2) Mauva (spell?) Cake and it was fantastic. Not too sweet and goes super well with tea. It reminded me of an American coffee cake, but soo much better! 3) Carrot cake - love the nice little carrot surprise! As Santosh said, it's not like the American version of carrot cakes that tend to be way too sweet. It was fabulous with a nice hint of wonderful spices. Santosh was super friendly and amazing. I learned he only opened the shop about a month and a half ago (during the pandemic). I decided to order a few items to get a feel for their offerings, taste, etc.: Mango cake, Egg Puff, and Dil Pasand. As of this review, I had tried the cake and puff. Both were delicious from a sweet and savory perspective, respectively. The cake was good and typical of other bakeries in the area. However, the egg puff really "hit the spot" in terms of portion size and flavor. The curry spices were a nice touch and pleasant surprise. The first time I tasted gajar halwa in a thali, I thought "This would make an awesome carrot cake!" so I was excited to try it. Mr. Cake+'s gajar halwa cake was simply amazing. My BIL said it was the best carrot cake he's ever had, and he is a very good home baker, so he knows what he's talking about.
