I had ordered a cake for a family function... I came to Mr. Cakes because the reviews were outstanding, my friend orders all her cakes from here. Strike one... I requested for buttercream and they said it was an additional charge... No biggie, I settled for whipped cream... Strike 2, I said I wanted ROSSETTES, What you see on the foto are NOT ROSSETTES... STRIKE 3, I ordered PINK ROSSETS, they sprayed GOLD. How do you get gold when we told them the colors are BLUSH AND SILVER, with a SILVER TOPPER (As you can see in the picture)... The cake was delicious, however the decoration is an EPIC FAIL! I paid good money for a SILVER plate with PALE PINK ROSSETTES... We got a GOLD PLATE, with some type of deformed swirl and sprayed in GOLD! It set our theme way off... Unfortunately, I had someone else pick up the cake, if not I would have asked for at least a partial refund on the spot! OH, and after we cut the cake, about half around, the cake began to topple over, it did not hold its form! I will have to think about it twice, even THRICE before I order from here again. read more

I had an excellent experience with Mr. Cake. I was a bit surprised when I visited the bakery as it's not a typical bakery but more of a workshop and therefore they were no ready or prepared cakes/icings that I could try for a taste test. However as I started to work with Mario and shared what I looking for he was able to give me a slice of their plain sponge cake which was a couple of days old but as moist and delicious as you could imagine a fresh cake to be. That is when I knew I was at the right place. I ordered two cakes from them. One was an Avengers cake for my five-year-old which was a mix of a cake they had made in the past with slight changes from my end. My son was thrilled and it was a delicious cake. My one and only constructive feedback was that I found their icing too sweet but I was told that it is due to some of the premade ingredients they use for the type of icing I was looking for. The second cake was beyond incredible. I had shared a picture of a Chanel cake that I seen on the Internet and asked if they could make it. The final product was breathtaking and so gorgeous that none of us wanted to cut it. Sharing pictures of both cakes below. A lot of bakeries are able to deliver on the taste and the details but what set Mr. Cake apart for me was their excellent customer service. Mario worked with me on ensuring that my expectations were met and was very patient in the process. However the cherry on top was when I shared the date on which I wanted the cake, it was a day that they were closed. Initially they said they could make it a day earlier for me. However when I shared concerns of whether I would be able to fit such a large cake in my small refrigerator. Mario offered to get one of his employees to open the shop on their closed day and pick the cake up so I could take it directly to the event. The time was based on what was convenient for me. I was so pleasantly surprised by the offer and so grateful as they went out of their way to make things work for me. And that to me was exceptional customer service. I look forward to getting all our important event cakes made from them! My one wish would be that they would make cupcakes as well so we could order both from one place! I attended a bday party for my cousin over the weekend and we had a blast watching little kids (including our own) run around the house like a bunch of wild maniacs!!! And thanks to Mr. Cake, there was plenty of fuel (sugar) to keep the kids going!!! I wish I would have taken a picture of the cake but it was already delved into by the time we got there. Personally, I don't even like cake all that much, as I'm more of a savory guy opting for 2nd portions of the main course instead :) But Mr. Cake makes a mean cake, no doubt. The owner is very nice and knows what he is doing. All the other workers are just the same no matter who I have gotten over the years my cake always turns out yummy and pretty. My family had been getting cakes from here for YEARS. My uncle is a good friend of one of the workers here. My cousin had ordered a cake: chocolate, half strawberry, half banana with Ariel on one side and hello kitty on the other. The cake came out to 52 dollars!!! None of us have never paid that much EVER. When we asked my cousin about it, he said that the girl on the phone was giving him all types of trouble, telling him if he got a picture on the cake, he couldn't get lettering..... When we've actually done BOTH for years. (He got both in the cake coz he told her this.) Obviously, someone decided to up charge us. Most of us will not be coming back.
