All were great. Even the slaw. Good seafood slaw?! What are the odds of that? It's usually a throw-away. Not here. Fish was perfect flaky and flavorful. The side of "tartar" sauce was even super tasty, though not needed as the fish was so moist and well cooked. Fries were of the battered variety, which I like. They were not too greasy and very tasty. I read it was a little tricky to find, because it sits in the middle of a little resort. It's a great walk over a little bridge that crosses over a pond. It resembles a seaside restaurant with lots of seating inside and outside. I sat at the bar and was enthusiastically greeted by the bartender. I asked for her recommendations and I went with the hogfish sandwich. Luckily, she told me I could get it grilled and blackened instead of fried. I could tell they knew how to cook fish because it came out perfectly. Most would probably think it was undercooked, but that's how fish should be cooked. I appreciated this attention to detail and thought it was delicious.

Many ordered this but not one person liked or finished theirs. In some cases overly fatty and in others the meat was super chewy and barely flavorful. Most of prime rib from all guests was taken home to feed to the dogs. Fish was a tri-tip, overly salty but also undercooked. Desserts - Have t say the donuts were the clear winner. Key Lime Pie had a gross drizzle of raspberry sauce (While do so many restaurants do this?). Creme de pot, so sweet that your teeth hurt from eating it. Look, if you are going to charge high prices and have a prix fix menu for a special occasion like mother's day or other, then THAT menu of items better be spot on and near perfect. In this case, "M" failed miserably. Certainly won't be back.

The cozy atmosphere lives up to the farm to table vibe they're going for. The Verdict: The Local delivers a decent lunch with good service and fresh ingredients. My smoked turkey sandwich hit the spot, but those fish tacos need work. Four stars for a solid overall experience, but maybe skip the tacos next time.

Let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised by my recent visit to Mr. Big Fish in Naples, Florida. As soon as I walked in, I could smell the aroma of fresh seafood filling the air, and I knew I was in for a treat. The menu was impressive - full of classic seafood dishes, as well as some unique and inventive takes on old favorites. I opted for the Red grouper and I have to say, it was sensational. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a delicate, flaky texture and just the right amount of seasoning. The seafood chowder was another standout dish - creamy, rich, and full of fresh seafood. And let's not forget about the sides - the hush puppies were crispy and golden brown, and the french fries were perfectly salted and cooked to perfection. The service was fantastic, with waitstaff who were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They went above and beyond to make sure that everything was just right, and I never once felt neglected or ignored. The atmosphere was lovely, relaxed, and comfortable - exactly what you would expect from a great seafood joint. And let me just say, the decor was spot on - rustic and charming, with a nautical theme that was tasteful without being overbearing. Overall, I have nothing but positive things to say about Mr. Big Fish. I read the first two reviews, one a good one and one a bad one and decided we had a 50/50 chance of having a decent meal. Boy am I glad we ate there. Last night we had a wonderful meal at The Big Fish. Only two weeks old but what a crowd; I'm sure glad that we made reservations. I had the fish and chips, fried haddock. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. As I was eating another departing diner stopped and pointed at my dish and said, "wonderful, isn't it". As good as my meal was my wife's grilled snapper was to die for. Cooked perfectly and the butter lemon sauce was probably the best that we have ever tasted. Interestingly the mixed vegetables that come with every meal, in this case broccoli and zucchini, were freshly steamed and not wilted and tasteless as is so often the case. And the key lime pie is oh so good. I asked the owner to stop by in order to thank him for the wonderful experience. He tells me that the pie is made in their kitchen. Also, the ownership has been running restaurants in Naples over three generations--all of them were and are fine eating establishments. We will be back, often, and will not hesitate to recommend this place to our friends. Judging by the size of the crowd after only two weeks they are getting a lot of referrals from happy diners. We found this place through a local coupon book or we may not have known it was there. Surprisingly so since the owners are long time restaurantuars in the area opening Mel's Diner, Stevie Tomotoes, and Big Al's. This is more higher end then their other ventures. Definitely fresh seafood here. We were greeted attentively and seated right away. Our server was very accommodating to us. We had blue point oysters rhat were briney, fresh, and delicious. The other app we ordered were the chardonnay clams. Nice sized sweet clams with a briney tomato broth perfect for the crusty bread basket on the table. The scallops here perfectly seared and were very large. I had the special blackened black grouper. I am doing low carb so I appreciated the selection of veggie sides. My boyfriend had the boirsin au gratin potatoes. Those were pretty awesome. No dessert for us but 4 stars for fresh seafood! Nice nautical interior too! read more

Mr. Big Fish was an absolute standout. Every dish we tried was incredible--from the tender, flavorful mussels to the perfectly grilled octopus. The Angry Lobster had just the right kick, and the parmesan-crusted grouper was hands-down one of the best seafood dishes we've had in a long time. Even the homemade bread was a highlight--fresh, warm, and impossible to stop eating. And the au gratin potatoes? Easily the best I've ever had at a restaurant--rich, creamy, and perfectly cooked. What really impressed us was that even our non-seafood eater had an amazing meal. The strip steak was cooked to perfection and just as thoughtfully prepared as the seafood dishes. Ok so I really don't want to tell you how great this place is because I feel it is one of Naple's hidden gems. The seafood is amazing. We have eaten here many times and never have had a problem with anything. The bartenders and waitstaff are always courteous and a blast to chat with! Last time we were in Mr. Big Fish the bar was full so Maggie and Teri extended the bar with some high back tables. We met some new friends and kept our seats when seats became available at the bar because we loved our setup! Talk about accommodating hey?! We have to admit having some reservation about a Restaurant with a name 'MR BIG FISH' We were absolutely delighted with the variety of the menu selection. We had words and I went back in restaurant to talk to manager and her response was that he should not have came out of restaurant and that was all she said ! I had read several reviews that said the wait staff was rude. We went on Memorial Day and our waitress was a doll. Apparently on Monday most of the dishes are $17.00 and we had really nice scallops for that price with delicious Potato Au Gratin. Unfortunately, while the restaurant itself is beautiful, the overall experience was very disappointing. Shortly after we were seated, our waiter brought a wine carafe to the table next to us. When clearing the extra place settings from our table, he accidentally left their carafe on our table. It sat there for about 10 minutes before he returned to get it, leaving a wine stain behind. It wasn't a huge issue by itself, but it set the tone for the lack of attention throughout the evening. We ordered smoked Old Fashioneds, and unfortunately they were almost undrinkable. They tasted watered down and were served with a lot of regular ice rather than a large cube, which was surprising for a restaurant at this price point. We then ordered a bottle of wine, only to be told they couldn't find the bottle. The steak was cooked properly, but it lacked the flavor I would expect from a high-end steakhouse. On the positive side, the lobster tail was excellent. The owner or manager also graciously brought us two shrimp, and they were absolutely delicious. Those were easily the highlights of the meal, and we appreciated the gesture. Unfortunately, when you're spending more than $400 with tip for dinner, the entire experience needs to match that price point. Between the service issues, cocktails, missing wine, and underwhelming steak, it simply didn't. The sandwiches we ordered don't even come with fries and the fries taste like they had been fried twice, super dry and like they had been recooked or something. My Rueben sandwich had a decent ratio of meat/sauce/sauerkraut but the bread was super soggy. Service was good so maybe I would give this place another chance and order something different but I honestly would not recommend.

The staff were friendly, but the seating choice was puzzling given the available space. The yellowtail carpaccio was excellent and easily the highlight. The oysters were good, the poached oysters with caviar were underwhelming, and my wife's snapper was nicely prepared. My petite lobster tail was overcooked. The biggest disappointment was the 8 oz Japanese A5 Miyazaki Wagyu at $35 per ounce, or $280 for the steak alone. Some bites were beautifully tender, while others were surprisingly chewy with fatty sections difficult to cut through. The recommended demi-glace arrived about five minutes late, leaving the steak cooling while we waited. A manager checked on us, and I mentioned both the missing glaze and overcooked lobster, but there was no follow-up. Having cooked A5 at home and enjoyed Japanese Wagyu elsewhere, this simply did not deliver the texture, consistency, or experience I expect at $35 an ounce. At nearly $700 for dinner, the issue isn't whether the clientele can afford it. At this level, a $280 A5 steak should still be exceptional and memorable. This wasn't. There were some good dishes, but the most expensive parts of the meal were the biggest misses. If steak is your priority, I'd sooner go to Eddie V's, Fleming's, or Jimmy P's.
