We had a very concerning experience at the Moxies on Westheimer. My mom ordered the salmon and avocado Cobb salad, and the salmon came out undercooked. She also noticed that the eggs on the salad appeared undercooked. We ordered the crab cake appetizer as well, and it had a strong, unpleasant fishy smell. I tried it and thought it tasted off, but my mom barely ate any before she started feeling sick. While we were still at the table, my mom was holding her stomach, leaning over, and saying she felt nauseous. Salmon, crab, and eggs can all carry foodborne bacteria, and based on how quickly she became ill, we are very concerned this may have been food poisoning. She is currently bedridden and experiencing abdominal and back cramps, which is extremely alarming. I ordered the Italian Sausage Pappardelle. It was edible, but overloaded with cheese and honestly tasted like something you could buy from the frozen section of a grocery store--not what you expect for the price. The one positive part of this experience was our server, LaLa. She was attentive, kind, and helpful, and this review is not a reflection of her service. Overall, this was a disappointing and scary experience, especially when it comes to food safety. We expected much better quality control from a restaurant like this. I also noticed on the menu they had a warning that said something about certain foods can cause food borne illness which concerned me because i had never seen a warning like that on a menu before and it made me feel like they've been reported before for food poisoning. read more

We came to Moxies with our family and had a really great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was welcoming and lively, making it a comfortable place for both adults and kids. Our waitress (Noir or Newar i believe is the spelling) was especially wonderful--she was very friendly, patient, and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed. He had great recommendations such as the smoked old fashioned and the blacked chicken sandwich. My friend and I shared an order of potstickers 9/10 they're delicious, and I love the salsa that comes with them. I ordered the cheeseburger 10/10, and my friend ordered the black chicken sandwich. 9/10 Both our meals came our swiftly and cooked to perfection. The burger was bursting with flavor. Besides the old fashioned I tried the pineapple spicy margarita. It was ok. I'd give it a 6/10 I was wanting more spice and more pineapple flavor. I recently visited Moxie's for a friend's birthday dinner and had a great time. Every item on the menu is carefully crafted to provide a perfect blend of unique flavor in each sip or bite. I ordered the calamari, chicken lettuce wraps, and steak frites. If I had to start one, bench one, cut one I would start the Calamari, bench the Steak Frites, and cut the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. You can't go wrong with any of them though! I've also had the chipotle mango chicken and it was delicious. For cocktails I would recommend the classic or spicy jalapeño margarita. Moxie's does a great job with lighting, the lights are low but not too dark. Even when the place is packed it's still easy to focus on your table without much distraction. There are TVs set up in convenient areas around the restaurant so you get a decent view of the game from any angle. Our server Lily was really nice and very attentive, she made sure our dinner experience was outstanding. The hosts and runners were great as well, they were very welcoming. From the moment we arrived at the upstairs bar, they were warm, welcoming, and on point with their service. Ashley made excellent recommendations (those cocktails? chef's kiss) and Caitlyn was super attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Their energy was friendly, fun, and genuinely made the whole vibe feel relaxed and enjoyable. Then came our appetizer of guacamole & tajin chips - I was a little hesitant with the chips because wasn't sure what to expect but these were delicious!! The tajin was not too subtle but not at all overpowering- it gave the chips a nice kick and made them quickly devoured especially when paired with fresh guacamole! Main courses were the ribeye & short rib bolognese pasta. I'm such a fan of a good Bolognese pasta but this left more to be desired and seemed bland compared to the ribeye. The steak was seasoned so well and juicy that I ended up eating more of that than my actual pasta. Steak bordered on the salty side BUT it was slight and forgivable. For appetizers we had steak bites and calamari which were both okay really nothing to write home about. The steak was a bit chewy but it was manageable. For our entrees we had nachos, short rib bolognese, and blackened shrimp tacos. Again all the entrees were just okay. Overall, our experience was mediocre, not bad but not great. After an amazing dinner, my family and I decided to stop for drinks and dessert at Moxies. This is going to be a quick review, because I didn't get a lot of food. Let's start with the service. We were seated immediately and we didn't have to wait. The scenery was stunning and the host was very sweet. FYI, valet parking is $8 on Sundays. Extremely affordable and I'd highly recommend getting valet. Parking can be a nightmare on certain days. In terms of drinks and dessert, I got the red sangria and a key lime pie. The red sangria is very sweet. It was exactly what I wanted, but if you're not looking for something sweet, they have a huge list of drinks. The key lime pie was excellent, but the whip cream on it was kind of thick. All and all, from start to finish the experience was amazing and the food delivered. Our server was very professional and was the perfect mix of checking on us just enough but not too much. She gave great recommendations about the food and the drinks. The food was spectacular. The salad was a hearty amount of greens and fresh tuna with some delicious peanut and cucumber sauce. The Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were creamy but not over done. And it all went so well with the pesto drizzle. If you get the mango chicken you better be very hunger or prepared to take some home.
