Over the past 15 years of my life, I've probably moved several times. Dealing with the moving experience, packing, unpacking evokes such agony, fear and exhaustion. The concept of moving stuff from one area to another is exhausting. I've used James and his moving company twice. Once several years ago. I'm struck by how honest, and humble he is. His price is very reasonable. His crew is hardworking, clean, and reliable. Today, his son James and Paco came to move couple of pieces which took longer than anticipated. They were both very patient, understanding and receptive. They meticulously wrapped everything in either blankets, brown paper or plastic. They asked me and went over which item wanted which wrapping. They also allowed me to buy the material if I wanted to. (It wasn't for sale) Excellent service, professional and clean and VERY pleasant to work with. I can't say enough good things about this company. I hope they always remain this professional. The moving experience now doesn't cause such angst. They were so good that I asked them to wrap some paintings in the garage and they did as well! 10 stars for James, family and the crew. read more

Owner is Level 10 unprofessional. Have wasted too much time emailing him photos per his request of all my furniture and belongings to get some type of quote. He told me he would absolutely get back to me and assured me he can do the move. He knows my move out dates yet doesn't respond via email OR text. Another waste of time was talking on the phone with him. And get this.... this is the second time. First time was two months ago for a different move and he did all of the above. Fast and thorough and helpful in so many ways, James hung a heavy mirror for me, set up my A/C stand alone, fixed a ceiling fan and got me loaded up and unloaded in a total of 5 hours for 1660 square feet of 'stuff'. What a great moving company. Don't look any further. Hire them. I mean it. After using Yelp for years, about as long as it's been around, this is my first review. Ever. That's how great Movers R Us is. Is not moving the worst? I dread it. Try to find a decent moving company that will just do their job, call you back, not break all your stuff, just show up, let alone show up on time, and not have helpers they just hired from the parking lot of some Home Depot the morning of your move. And then when it's all said and done, somehow manage to charge you 20-50% more than their original quote. Geez, really? If you're thinking, wow, this guy has had some bad experiences with movers, well, you'd be right. Now imagine a moving company exactly the opposite of all that. That's Movers R Us. You'll see James name in other reviews. He's the owner and heart and soul of the company. He's been doing this for years and loves it. Can't imagine doing anything else. And it shows. Simply put, he just loves being of service to folks who are moving. Period. We were moving from our condo in Long Beach to live full time at our second home about 110 miles away in the desert. We needed to coordinate the move with the condo building management, hire a guard at the building's garage gate, schedule use of the elevator, make sure loading elevator had wall pads, etc. We had four storage areas, two onsite in the condo building, one offsite in LB and one offsite in the desert. The desert home was fully furnished but we were converting one guest bedroom at the desert house into my office, as well as using the desert house garage for storage. Once in the desert, things had to move quickly to avoid damage from the 110 degree desert summer heat. Things had to be packed and moved from the condo and it's two storage areas. Also from our LB PS storage. space. The home theater systems and computers needed to be disassembled, cords and wires unplugged. Boxes and items, big screen TV's, had to be labeled correctly so that some things went to to the desert house, the garage or desert storage. The furniture in the desert house guest bedroom had to be moved out, some of it going to desert house garage, some going to the desert offsite storage space. And if you didn't follow all that....let's just go with....this was a complicated move, to say the least. We interviewed more than several moving companies. James was one of the few that actually came to our place to look around before giving us a quote. We went over the logistics of the move with him. James gave us a not-to-exceed number and outlined how he would do the move over a three day period, one day just to pack everything, second day to load everything and third day to drive out to the desert, pack up guest bedroom there, and then move everything into the house, garage or our offsite storage. He showed up at the LB condo on time, with two men and two women. Women? I thought. They're not strong enough to really do anything. But was I so wrong. The two ladies solely packed up the kitchen and baths. It now made perfect sense. They were the exact right ones to do that. They understood kitchens and how things should be correctly packed. Next day, again on time James showed up with Alfonso, Oscar and Juan. They began moving everything into the truck, locating things in the truck depending on where it was to go out in the desert. They were efficient, fast yet careful and gentle. All were in a great mood. Happy. We drove out to the desert that night to await their arrival there the next morning. Again, they showed up on time after their two hour drive. Again, they were fast, efficient, careful and happy. We changed our minds several times as to where some things should go and they complied without a complaint. We were done in less time than we anticipated and James presented us a bill based on hours, etc that exceeded our not-to-exceed number but crossed that out and wrote in our previously agreed to number. Done. Amazing. Nothing broken, everything where it should be. They even took care in putting things and boxes in our garage in such a way that we we had "aisles" between boxes and could get to every single box. Same with our storage. Amazing. If you've read this far, thanks. Just know that these are great guys and it's a great company dedicated to making your move and your life better. Call them. Hire them. After everything was done and before they left the very hot desert for their long drive back, we gave them swing trunks and invited them to use our pool. They did. We joined them in the pool, swam a bit, talked a lot. It was great. After they left, I thought how great was that? Scheduled a simple 4 mile piano move from one persons house to my house. Luna guy said they could come the next day. I received a confirmation email & I re-confirmed twice the timeframe. We had 2 families waiting for 5 hours, no show! I called, texted, emailed over & over with zero response? Why did they bother "scheduling" me if they weren't going to show up or have the courtesy to CALL they weren't coming. We all wasted our entire day off waiting and waiting, not leaving our homes "in case they show up". Now I have to spend this next week finding another company & arranging our 2 families for the move from one home to another again. DO NOT USE THEM!! read more

Not long ago, I booked a 20 foot Uhaul to move an art studio from Los Angeles to Sacramento. I booked James and his team to help me load it since I knew it would be a tight fit -- I have a lot of stuff. 30 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the truck, I received a text from Uhaul informing me that they did not have a truck available for me after all. After calling every one-way truck rental in Los Angeles and beyond, I was forced to settle on a 15 footer. James called me an 90 minutes before his arrival to confirm the job. I told him my 20 footer was now a 15 footer. "We'll get creative if we have to. We'll make it work." James & co. were the best decision I made that day. He packed all my artwork and belongings with skill and care like a master Tetris player. I made the drive to Sacramento and all my things were securely packed and undamaged in transport. We needed to move 3 br , 1 dr, 1 lr that we bought at an estate sale. Movers R Us gave me confirmed pickup starting Friday at 4PM, nobody showed up. They then scheduled 4 more crews, none of which showed up, starting Saturday at 9 AM, to Sunday at 630 PM. Two never showed up and 2 actually called me to say they were "on the way", but never showed up. When I tried to call the crews, they did not answer and had no voice mail, texts were never returned. Finally on Monday, after 5 no shows, a crew arrived and did a good job, but the bad taste from the no shows is still there. They take a substantial booking fee up front, and do not provide any valuable service for it, Don't bother with Movers R Us, just find a decent local mover on your own. This is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. They told us multiple times that they would show up to the house and no one ever came. The dispatch supervisor (Ray) is very rude and told multiple lies. He stated that he told things that he never said. You have to give a deposit of $275 which now he's saying we can't get back because we had to email in order to get that money back they never once said this. He stated since no one came to the house we had to send an email to cancel this. I highly recommend another company. read more

I highly highly recommend James and his team. I've moved a lot and this was the best move we've ever done. James visited where we were moving from to give us a quote for the move and share how it would work on each day. We were moving from a high rise building with lots of rules and restrictions to a single family home with lots of stairs. The packers came over the weekend and packed up everything and then the moving started on Monday. Everything was well planned and executed. James is a great leader and works along side his team and his team is also top notch. They are all very nice, good to talk with, pleasant to be around, and smart about what they do. They came with their own truck and had everything you could need - dollies, blankets, shrink wrap, blankets, even wardrobe boxes - although I didn't need any of that because I was moving from storage so everything was good to go. It was a hideous undertaking, but Movers R Us helped us cut through the mess and get us reunited with our long lost things. This was an excellent company. Our movers, Leigh and Wilson, arrived early, assessed each situation beforehand to maximize time management, and never slacked off. There were no hidden fees and they offered plenty of free moving blankets and wardrobe boxes that kept everything intact during the trip. Plus, their truck was massive, easily able to handle two or more bedrooms' worth of items. All in all, they managed to complete a move from two separate apartments in Pasadena, one of which was a walk-up, to a new place in Studio City in roughly five hours. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS MOVING COMPANY! James and his son did an amazing job! We were recently moving from a single story home in San Clemente to a two story home with a treacherous staircase. I have very heavy furniture , but James was able to dismantle it, move it and reassemble it all with ease. He is professional,punctual and honest. My kids and husband had cash stashed in the furniture that he collected for them. James is also extremely knowledgeable. He noticed that there was not a pan in the upstairs laundry to go under our washer, and that the dryer was missing a connector .He notified us so we were able to go buy them prior to him moving the appliances in place. Hopefully this moving company does solve this kind of problem, I appreciate the call back and I modified my rating to 4 because when I rated it as 1 it went from 5 to 4. I stand by my initial statement though, if somebody is outright blocking your alley - make a phone call about it. I always prefer to call a the employee's owner company before I call the police and it's a rare day if I even have to mention that I won't hesitate to make that phone call. Original Post : Illegally parked blocking the alley so nobody could walk through, wouldn't respond when I told them to move their vehicle. I tried calling the number on the side of the vehicle "1-877-870-6683" 1877870MOVE because they were blocking the whole alley. I suggest the next time it happens someone call the police, they refused to move the vehicle and was parked in a way nobody could walk through.
