When I first contacted Jesus (co owner) he let me know I was looking at a 9-10 hour move, which is what I expected moving from Santa Monica to Oxnard/camarillo area. The price was perfect, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a great price and good quality work. The fellas showed up right in the alley behind my house and started getting the truck loaded up within minutes. They were there at 9am and had a 26ft truck loaded up by Noon. They charge by the hour, and although the company gave a 4 hr window for a 1 bedroom move, they pulled it out for the entire day. They were scheduled to come a 0900, they called to say they will arrive at 0930. They came sometime after 0930, loud, loud music in the otherwise silent building. No regard for the other neighbors. They had extended delays between picking up from the unit and going to the moving van, the strong intense smell of smoke each time. I asked where's the smoking coming from but none of the movers admitted to it. The building is a very strict none smoking environment and violators are frequently find so I know it wasn't a neighbor and my neighbors don't smoke, FYI. The excuse they had was I had a lot of stuff, even though I spent most of the month pa king items and taking in my car to the new apartment. I had witnesses, that saw this. I only had a few items in the closet which I put in my car to take while they were there. I spent the entire time packing alongside them and taking items in my car to help speed up the process. I had a mattress, 2 TV , TV stands 6 ikea shelves, 2 of which were over the toilet shelves, I used the shelves as plants stands. I have over 100 plants, I took all of them except a few small succulents to the new apartment prior to them coming. I took most of my plants stands, the remainder were already packed in boxes by me. I took all my paintings, lamps, sofa cushions, pillows, all the linens, all prior to them coming. With all that they still dragged it out until almost 6pm! I would never, ever recommend this company. You will easily see the cost doubled what you were expecting to pay. read more

We had patio plants in large containers which had to be moved off the patio then returned a few days later. They belong to my Mom who is 84 and loves her patio garden. Gabe and Victor were such a great duo! They were attentive, caring and very patient as my Mom directed them where each plant goes. Victor even pulled weeds which had grown in one area! Jesus is terrific and communicated throughout scheduling and arrival times. They take Zelle too. UPDATE: Unpacked and multiple boxes smashed due to the unprofessional packing and moving. Expensive items (packed by the movers) broken. Company took my money but will not pick up my calls or call me back. Summary: --Late without communication --Put bare tape on items --Unprepared & Inexperienced team members --Insulting $30 net discount for the troubles Arrived 1 hour late with no communication beforehand. I had to call multiple times before I even got anyone on the phone to confirm we hadn't just been completely forgotten about. I understand that many factors can affect the arrival of a team, but to not hear a word beforehand or during, and to not have any of my calls answered had me scrambling to see if we could find back-up movers the morning of. When I did get someone on the phone, I learned our job had been subcontracted out. The movers who arrived had great attitudes and energy but other than the lead mover, were very green and inexperienced. This made our paid-by-the-hour move take longer and meant there was much more coaching needed for how to disassemble the furniture and pack things safely. The team ran out of the water they brought and had to spend time in the middle getting more. I felt terrible we couldn't provide any ourselves. If SmoothMovers had let us know beforehand, we would have been more than happy to pick up some water bottles to have on hand for the movers. Most frustratingly, either because they ran out of plastic wrap or because they didn't think of the damage potential, the movers wrapped multiple bare items with tape they borrowed from me. The goo from that will be a nightmare to get off some pieces and impossible to get off others (framed art). At the end of the day, our place was left littered with discarded plastic rolls and my own nice plastic storage containers that they had decided to leave in the home instead of packing. After a stressful, under-resourced, under-planned move, Smooth Movers took an insulting $40 off the total for the day and suggested I purchase my own Goo Gone ($10) for all the residue. This was the only company ( I called 10) that agreed to a 2 hour ( not three hour) minimum plus lower the cost by using a smaller van instead of a truck. From a 3 story home with difficult access. Communication was good, price was reasonable and the crew made my life really easy.
