Where should I begin with my review for Movers LA? My last move was about 2-3 years ago but I had way less things so this time around, I obviously need to hire movers again. From my first move I actually made an excel sheet to compare pricing. I used the same excel sheet and started calling for pricing to see what the best rates would be. Every single place I called had an increase in cost, even they offered any kind of Yelp promo or if you paid with cash. Some places were charging about $100+ per hour, service fees, not including shrink wrap, pretty much would be charged for everything and could possibly spend up to $400+ for a less than 7 mile move with 2 bedrooms, minimal furniture, and mostly pre-pack and do majority of the move would be done by my roomie and I. With all that being said, I never gave up and kept calling different companies. I'm so glad I was patient and stumbled across Movers LA. Their pricing is super fair ($85 per hour if you pay cash)! I can't applaud James and his crew enough. I was given a time frame between 2-5pm. James called me around 3:30pm to confirm that he'll arrive around 4pm and he got here 4pm sharp! They were super efficient, got the job done in less than 4.5 hours and our new place is all stairs. They are the best, I highly recommend them!! read more

I was switching units to the top floor and had never needed a move within the same building before. Joe's Movers provided me with the best quote after receiving estimates from other local moving businesses. Not only that, they were quick as lightning and super friendly with their responses! Some of the other companies took forever to reply and Jarrod and Gianluca took care of me right away. I thought this job would take about 3 hours but they finished it well before that and we're able to help us out carry the little boxes upstairs. Leroy and Trevor were so nice they even hung my clothes up in my closet! We spoke on the phone twice, I have an email confirmation, and I called to confirm again 2 days ago. They have my payment information and have charged me for the deposit we agreed upon. It is now 3hrs passed the start-time period that we discussed and I've had ZERO communication from this business (no calls, no emails, no texts). I've left 2 voicemails and sent 2 emails and have no other way of getting in touch. I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to move today (with everything ready to go) but it looks like I'm being ghosted. This is a MAJOR inconvenience during an already stressful time. I have no idea if there's been an accident/emergency of some kind, but at this point I feel that I should've at least been notified. These guys did a great job! Having moved internationally and nationally 9 times in the last decade, Joes Movers is one of my pleasant experience. If I were to move again, I'll definitely work with them. Pros: They returned my phone call right away and the person I spoke to made sure that I was able to reach him at anytime. They do not have minimum hours so it great for minimalists who do not have a lot of furniture and belongings. Some other places that I have looked into have a minimum of 3 hours. Their quote is decent. They do not try to scam you. They are very honest people. The person whom I contacted said the company will round down to the hour (or calculate the exact time, whichever made sense depending on the situation) and they kept their word. Most companies out there will round up an hour. The guys are friendly, easy going, and easy to work with. The email paperwork process is efficient and user friendly. I need to move furniture I purchased from two places from Craigslist and James and another employee came the day of, with an hour notice. They offered the best pricing out of the multiple places I've called. They disassembled a huge ikea couch and then reassembled. They are so professional and kind and made sure I was I was satisfied. Completely unprofessional! The company sent three boys who looked about 15 y/o. They had no idea what they were doing and could barely carry any of the furniture because they were too small, which resulted in them dropping the couch and denting the wall of my apartment. It took over 3 hours for them to move the boxes and furniture from a 600 sq. ft. apartment, which seems ridiculous. We just used Joe's movers this past weekend and I couldn't have asked for nicer guys to do our move. They were super friendly efficient and on time! Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that they got lost at one point meeting me at storage unit and I ended up waiting for about 20 minutes so was hoping they would deduct that from our final billing time- but they didn't. Here it is..... Joe's first non five star review!!!! Like many others Joe's was the first time I hired movers. I saw them moving a neighbor in and they seemed really nice. I asked my neighbor who they were and he told me they are the highest rated movers on Yelp. I am satisfied but I cannot write the same glorious review that others do. When they arrived I explained I had two main concerns. One was an antique table that must not be damaged and the other was my new white couch. I just bought it ($2000) and I wanted it to stay clean. It got dirty.... quite a bit. : ( They have all kinds of blankets and stuff in their truck, I just don't think they used them or if they did they aren't clean. They got right to work hauling boxes and everything while I packed, organized and taped boxes. I told them to focus on the big stuff and to get as much as they can. They queued everything up and one guy did all the arranging in the truck. The other two guys hauled everything out. The truck started filling up and I kept checking on it to see how much stuff would fit. This kept going until it was "full." I still had a bunch of stuff in my apartment, vacuum, random bags, boxes all kinds of crap. I told them whatever doesn't go in I have to haul my self. I remember throwing a few boxes and the vacuum into some crevices that were open and the one guy told me. "That's a full truck" .......They were ready to go. I tossed a bunch of stuff in my car and headed to the new place. They were already there unloading. They made super quick work of unloading and stuff. I saw one box dropped and one of my tables got a chunk taken out of it. Neither incident was mentioned. The table chunk was placed on top of the table. The box that was dropped wasn't inspected or talked about. The table chunk isn't huge and it is a pretty easy fix with some glue. Nothing in the box was broken. I just didn't really like the if I don't mention it, it didn't happen kind of thing. The price was fair. Altogether it took them a little over three hours. I tipped them really well because they did bust their butts. Its just that when I look back on the experience it wasn't a great one. I had to drive back to my old place 4 times to fill it with shit and bring it to the new place. Is it my fault I have too much stuff? Yes. Did they make any effort to reorganize the truck to fit more in? No. I know they could have fit more stuff in the truck if they were a little more patient. My move was their second of the day and it seemed to me they just wanted to be done. When everything was out of the truck there wasn't much dialogue about if anything else needed to be moved. They were ready to leave. I would have gladly paid them an extra hour if I could have slowed things down just a little bit. Driving back and forth to haul more stuff was brutal. I had to bring my 2 year old son with through Topanga Canyon and he gets car sick. Every time we took the trip I kept thinking they could have fit more in that damn truck. So that was my experience. Nice guys, fair price. It just wasn't anything awesome. Minus one star for a dirty couch and minus one star because I didn't get that extra effort and communication that so many others write about. read more

While they did, admittedly, get my girlfriend's stuff from her old place to her new place, the experience was pretty dreadful. It somehow took them two hours to load 30 boxes into their truck, often leaving valuables unguarded while doing so, and only when my girlfriend said something did they start to step it up. This didn't even include her bed, which they couldn't manage to get into the truck at all. On the way to her new place, they were to pick up a $6,000 antique table with a $600 glass top. They didn't pack it correctly and once they got to her new place, the glass was chipped and the table damaged. By this point, I had left work to come help her out with these guys - I called Joe to discuss what was happening and was utterly surprised when his reaction was less apologetic than defensive. His solution to the table damage? $5/hr off their rate and knock $180 from the price of moving. He offered an "estimate" of $120 to replace the $600 glass and $60 to refurbish the antique table. Yeah. Needless to say we're hoping Joe will do the right thing and have his insurance (they must have insurance, right?) pay for the damage. If not, we may look into the small claims process. I'd stick with an established, insured company with a solid reputation. read more

The moving truck is probably just pulling out of our neighborhood as I write this. My experience with Joe and Rod was so fantastic I couldn't wait to sit down and write an eight-star review. Unfortunately there are only five stars, but just know that I would have gone the full eight or even twenty stars were they available. I called Joe at 7:00 p.m. the night before I had hoped to move, thinking that it was more likely I'd have to wait until the following weekend, but Joe was able to fit me in the next day. So he pretty much already had five stars at that point. Then they showed up on time (even with the LA Marathon happening a block away), that was another star. They introduced themselves, and it was obvious that English was their first language, which, since I'm a stupid American that only knows English, that's another two stars right there. They surveyed my apartment and got to work and were finished in record time [citation needed] (I'm not sure what the record actually is). They even ended up moving my king-sized bed, even though it wasn't initially part of the deal. After the truck was locked and loaded, they made their way to the new joint. In addition to unloading everything very quickly, they helped us remove the old guest bed and replace it with my old new guest bed [citation needed]. Which adds another two stars. They were über helpful, polite, and careful. In fact, when I told Rod that one of the boxes was pretty fragile, he said, "We treat all boxes as if they're fragile." I smell a tag line. All in all, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend them to anyone who want hard-working, trustworthy, all-around nice guys to get their personal effects from point A to point B. On top of all that, they were VERY reasonably priced, which is another five stars. I would use them again in a heartbeat. In fact, I might just move again next week just to use Joe's. Joe really is the best. He gave me 2 options, hourly or flat rate & my roommate & I went w/ the flat rate. He & his friend were on time & super nice & professional. When they got to our place, they went right to work. We were still packing odds & ends & they were really cool about it. They had blankets & towels to wrap large framed pictures/ mirror- really prepared & knew what they were doing. The place I moved to was on the 3rd floor w/ a tiny elevator. We didn't have a lot of stuff but since the elevator in our new building is pretty small, it took about 4 hours. But Joe & his friends were all smiles & chill the entire time. These guys do a great job. I've used them for my last 2 moves the last of which they just completed. Moved a ton of very heavy stuff in a very short time at a price that was 12-30% cheaper than any other quote I got. Totally excellent experience all around. Additional move: Girlfriend's lease finally ended, so we were forced to get her last few pieces of furniture out of her old apt and into our place. Hired Joe's to do it again. Gave us a good price and worked us in for that weekend when I called on Wed. The guys were running a little late as we were their last move of the day, but they called me right in the middle of the time window to let me know what was going on, and then stayed in touch with updates on when we could expect them so we weren't stuck waiting. They have a 2 hour minimum, but it only took about an hour and a half, including them taking apart and reassembling a bedframe that wouldn't fit through the door. I had been stressing about getting everything prepped for this move from DTLA to West Hollywood right before the holidays.... That was silly. My stress was completely eliminated by Joe and his partner for the biggest part of the move. Friendly, FAST and careful, they had all the qualities you want in a moving company. A few pieces of furniture that I wanted extra attention for (46" TV, large wooden mirror, fragile side table, etc.) were safely wrapped up Dexter-style in towels and saran wrap without a hitch. They even disassembled and reassembled my bed in my new bedroom although it was mainly just 4 separate parts and not one of those 100 piece Lego-like Ikea beds. All in all, it made me realize how ridiculous I was for renting a truck and moving the big pieces of furniture myself when I moved in. I was given an hour time frame when they would arrive and got a call a few hours before to let me know they were running a little late. I was really nervous about hiring movers--but I was in a car accident and really couldn't do it all by myself. Joe's Movers had some of the highest ratings on Yelp so I decided to give it a shot. The guys were running a little behind schedule but I didn't mind; I had Joe and Dan, I think, moving my one-bedroom apartment. They called ahead of time and let me know they'd be a bit late. It was no big deal, I was running late myself. They met me at my storage unit and followed me in. They were so patient with me; I hadn't been to my unit since I moved two months ago so it took me a few minutes to remember where it was. They were really efficient once we started unloading everything. They had everything out and on the truck fairly quickly. I had gone to vacate the unit while they finished loading the truck, and we agreed to meet back at my new apartment. They did end up leaving behind a piece of my bed (a rather important piece) and told me about it once we unloaded it all at my new place. While yes--this was a con--they recovered it so well. Since my storage unit was already closed, Joe told me to give them a call in the morning. He took off the fuel charge and BOTH Joe and Dan REFUSED any tip because they said this was a screw up on their part and they didn't deserve a tip. Joe even said if he couldn't find the piece that they had left behind, he had the same bed as me and would take it off HIS bed to build mine. Thankfully, the beam was at the unit and he came back the next day to assemble the bed. Overall--even with them misplacing the piece--it was worth it. These guys were cool. Definitely friendly and hard working. Hauled my huge cherry wood dresser and king size mattress up the stairs in my new place, along with the rest of my worldly possessions. A very labor intensive process turns out. They wrapped up my couch before moving, and my beloved dresser. Wrapped my frames better than I had done (their sturdy blankets instead of my thin ones). And I'm actually now planning to purchase some movers blankets of my own for storing. We did have a casualty - the glass of a framed print cracked in the process of the move. To their credit, they gave me a discount, and I did have about 25 framed prints. The odds weren't necessarily in their favor on that one. The pricing was very reasonable and the guys showed up exactly on time, chipper and ready to work! Everything ended up pretty well, and I am extremely grateful for their help!!
