    *This is a review of their scheduling process and customer service. I had a bad experience with one of their "agent of the year" consultants. I sent a follow-up email to our consultant to get confirmation on a detail of our moving estimate and got a simply disrespectful response. Not sure if this guy was just having a bad day or if he is like this to everyone, but as he's one of their celebrated best agents I felt compelled to share our interaction.

    I paid Bekins to pack up all of my belongings. They didn't pack things well enough, and I ended up with lots of broken kitchenwares.

    Long story short: Not only did Benkins break and damage multiple items, but they also LOST some of my furniture! Even with their most comprehensive insurance plan, Benkins will not pay for the repair or replacement value of my furniture and housewares. I would have been better off hiring some students from Craigslist. The longer story: Jim, the move consultant, was nice when he came to my home. I signed up for a full service move with Jim, which included Bekins wrapping and boxing my belongings and furniture. The problems all started the day of my move, when the movers refused to protect my vintage furniture, teak walls, and bluestone floors. I asked them to do so several times before moving my furniture, and they refused. I'm normally a complete pushover, but when I watched them scrape my 1960s dining table while moving it out the front door, I had strong words with the movers. The worst of the movers actually replied, "Well, isn't that why you have insurance?" I've never met a more unprofessional and uncaring person. While moving into my new place, the movers gouged several floorboards and walls. My landlord charged me $600 for this damage. I'll spare you the laundry list of all the broken housewares and damaged furniture. But you should know that even if you pay Bekins for a full service move, they will not properly reimburse you for items they damage, break, or LOSE--even if you pay for extra insurance and have receipts. After my move, I called and emailed Bekins dozens of times. Neither Jim nor Amy--the move coordinators--would respond. I finally was able to track down the number of a regional supervisor. I was informed that the problem mover had been fired--great, but that's not going to fix my belongings. It took dozens more calls to initiate an insurance claim. In the end, I was only reimbursed for 10% of the damage they caused, and I'm still missing furniture and some heirloom belongings. I'll be resolving the matter in court. If I had to do it all over again, I would have hired students off of Craigslist.

    My experience with Bekins NW was pretty 'ehh'; probably a 3.5/5 if not for the broken furniture. Jim told me the move would take 5 hours including the driving time, ended up taking 8 because the movers purposefully dragged their feet to stretch the time (since they are paid hourly.) Also, they took a lunch break on my dollar which is specifically noted on the moving guide as something they would NOT do. They also broke my $700 hardwood dining room table. They picked up a piece of the table by the leg and snapped the joint holding it together straight in half. The wood is literally split in half there. The tabletop weighs upwards of 75lbs and I wouldn't feel safe fixing this on my own since the leg is a weight-bearing part of the table. I'm waiting for reimbursement but that doesn't seem likely based on other reviews. I'll update this review if/when the claims process is completed.

    If I could give this company 0 stars I would. First let me say I used Bekins in 2015 and had a very good experience with them which is why we used them again moving. We paid over $6,000 for Bekins to take care of our items in transport from WA to AZ and they DID NOT do that. Many of my items showed up broken, MISSING, and had damage and did not arrive on time. 2 months later we finally get a check for $870 a third of what we lost for our items and what I have had to pay to get new items. I am extremely SICKENED with their customer service and how they handled my claim. The driver NEVER did a check off list (one was done when we moved the first time) and the claims lady says we should of known when they dropped our stuff off, how is it okay that we get punished for them not doing their job?The driver also asked my husband why we were moving to Arizona because it's a s***hole and how much he hated it. He was extremely rude and not very gentle with our stuff. I spent a lot of money for them to move us and take care of my items that I had already paid a lot of money for to begin with. I will never ever recommend Bekins for moving. They are not providing good customer service let alone they do not care about your stuff or how much you paid them to move you they only care about getting your money. I wanted to choose the location of my unit because I didn't want to be assigned to an area in the back of the property. I think that would be an ideal area for someone to break in to units. At the location I mentioned above, I have worked with two outstanding employees (Lily and Jesse) that have helped me with renting unites and setting up automatic monthly payments for those units. They are incredible to work with! They are very familiar with the property and it's availability. They also keep the property looking well maintained. It was a great experience to work with people on site that have the knowledge to manage the property and could show me the size and locations of actual units. For me, that was bliss. My rate was about $100 in 2024, jumped to $290 in 2025, and is now $345 in 2026. Meanwhile, the exact same unit is currently advertised to new customers for $170, discounted to $143. Let that sink in. When I called to ask why I'm paying more than double what they're advertising, their solution was to tell me I could get the lower rate if I move all my stuff into a different unit. Same building, same size, same everything. Just physically move my belongings so they can pretend it's a "new" rental. That is not a solution. That is a scam dressed up as policy. This business preys on the fact that moving your belongings is a huge hassle, so they jack up rates year after year knowing most people won't or can't move. It may be technically legal, but it's about as close to criminal behavior as you can get without breaking the law. If you value transparency or fair treatment, look elsewhere. If you rent here, expect relentless price hikes and zero loyalty for being a long term customer. Absolute trash business practices.

I lost 3/4 of everything I owned because there are so many rats there. Rat feces is toxic so if they don't chew through all your stuff, it's still ruined in most cases. I wish we would have read the reviews but we didn't and paid the price. People have been complaining and losing their stuff for years and they could care less. They are total swindlers too, our cost tripled in the time we had it there and they knew our stuff was ruined and still had no problem completely ripping us off. Avoid this disgusting trashy storage unit at all costs if you value what ur going to store there.

    I wrote a review 3 months ago on Google about the situation here in regard to their atrocious…read moresecurity (second floor door was taped open and still is because the elevator is broken) as well as their elevator being out for months. I'll paste it down below. Now it is April 2026 and the situation is the same. Absolutely unbelievable. They called and asked me to take the review down in return for like a month free and I said no. Then they gave me like 20 bucks off a month for 3 months. Price went back up after not accepting the bribe and I just came back here and it is still broken. So much documentation about consistently questionable business practices just from reviews on here and Google. There's got to be a way to get the better business bureau or city council to address this. Every single person I've run into here for like a year has all the same complaints. Looking forward to the immediate phone call on Monday morning (just like last time) now that the precious reviews and ratings are being affected. Some sort of cease and desist order or refusing me service would be my guess on how it is handled instead of just fixing the elevator. Use all those algorithm-induced price hike's cash from the last couple years, plenty of cash in that banana stand. Here is my Google review from December 2025: This place is an absolute racket. Elevator has been broken for 4-5 months. Manager was nice and reduced my rent for like a month when I called but I'm paying for 100% of what was advertised and the owner is a slum lord. Elevator doesn't work so they tape the locked emergency stair door open for 2nd floor access. So that makes it unsecured storage with no elevator and they doubled my rent within a year - and tried to raise it again recently. Website says "lock in price" and when I called they literally said there is no such thing as "lock in" price and it all just goes through an algorithm. They send me a "how was your visit" email every time I go and I tell them all this and ask for a call or email and they've never responded. They also literally closed the front office and it is just an electronic kiosk that just makes a video call to a call center. So they are just printing money with barely any labor now and still can't fix the stupid elevator. Capitalism at its finest. Buy up all the storage companies in town then just absolutely crap on all their customers. If I get a "sorry you had a negative experience. Tell us how we can make your experience better" automated message to this, that'll wrap up this whole experience with a nice bow.
