I have only had Togo here so this review is solely based on the food. Gumbo was good the first time, but the most recent time the roux was borderline burnt so there was a bit of an almost burnt taste. The lunch menu is great love the options and the chicken Atchafalaya. Onion rings were great and looked like it was made from scratch. Angry pasta had a good kick and flavor but the jambalaya pasta seemed like it was missing some depth and salt. read more

I'm working my way down Lakeline trying all the food establishments. Mouton was one of the first. Burger was pretty good, and I had jambalaya for appetizer and it was really good. Service was friendly, attentive and competent. One lady handled the entire lunch hour herself, hostess, serving all tables, even the bar. It was fascinating to watch. Ambience was comfortable. I'll be coming back. read more

Mixed review here. We went for lunch - good lunch special menu. They were terribly understaffed but our server was working hard and very nice so we didn't mind the wait. Food was very good. Now for the bad. We were seated in the side room away from the bar, and it was grossly dirty. They have hanging lights and ceiling fans with visible caked on dirt - so this is a long term issue. It was so nasty that it made it hard for me to be comfortable with the food. The food is great, but management has to address the staffing issue and sanitation before we would go back. read more

Second time I have been to Mouton's in the last few weeks and have not stayed to eat. The first time, I was told there was a 45 minute wait but the place was mostly empty. I wasn't offered a seat at one of the many empty tables so we left. Today, we were seated, waited 20 minutes and no one took food or drink orders. So again we left. Loved the place in Leander but the Cedar Park place is often understaffed and not worth the wait. read more

After I post the above review update the owners posted they were giving away 2 pounds of crawfish for free this weekend and we're bringing back the OG cook who knows how to do it right. Kudos to the owners for listening and adjusting. read more

As the website says "Southern-Inspired Comfort Food in Cedar Park, TX". Some of the tastiest, hand-picked ingredients are combined into some very interesting dishes. I've always considered it kind of Cajun-inspired Texas Roadhouse cuisine. They have a number of delicious choices you see on their menu on the website. I highly recommend Mouton's! read more

Delicious food, fantastic service and a comfortable homey (not the clown) atmosphere. My wife and I have been coming to Mouton's for years. First the Leander location (RIP, we'll miss you Leander Mouton's ) and now the Cedar Park location. My wife absolutely LOVES the corn beef hash. I love a lot of things here. The country fried potatoes and Pain Perdu (French toast) are particularly delicious, so I definitely recommend those! Autumn was our server last time we were in and the service was magnificent. Eggfficient and on point. I love the fun and unique coffee cups! Again, very homey (not the clown). They even have a pool table and some dart boards if you come with friends and are looking for a group activity outside of shoving yummy foods in your face. read more

Great New Orleans spot in Cedar Park. We went for brunch and they had a New Orleans jazz band performing live. The music was definitely a little loud for the space, to the extent that it was a little difficult to hear people. However, the brunch items were tasty and well-priced. Pain Perdu (french toast) was a standout dish and, although not New Orleans flavors, the Lakeline taco was great too. I found the Texas Philly omelette a little underspiced. All in all, a hidden gem in Cedar Park especially if you are craving for a taste of New Orleans! read more

This place is a little gem, you wouldn't think they have good food based on when you walk in and it looks like a bar! We did breakfast randomly here and it was good! My only issues are the service was slow and our food took over 25 minutes. Now normally it doesn't bother us but there were only three other people in the whole joint so that was a little annoying. The biscuits and gravy were hands down the best out of our whole meal. Overall it's good and I would try lunch or dinner. read more

We have been there many times but have noticed it has gone downhill. We went this morning for breakfast. I noticed 1 waitress was seating and waiting tables (that we saw). We waited 30 minutes for our food(it was just 2 of us). It wasn't even busy. We ordered 2 omelettes. I asked for sourdough bread and when we got our food it was regular bread. I asked her and she said oh yea that's white, so she went to get me sourdough, when she brought it out it wasn't even toasted or buttered. I questioned if it was the sourdough and she said that's what their sourdough is. Clearly she didn't know what she was talking about. I had to ask her to bring me butter as it was dry. Also she forgot our side of bacon that we had to pay extra for. The food was just meh, not much cheese in our omelettes. When she brought the check I noticed a note on the bottom that said there is a 3% charge for credit cards. It seems that this place is not good anymore. Sad because the Leander location was much better and it seems like they brought you more food for the money. You have to pay for a side of bacon, hash browns, it should come with the plate. read more

I absolutely loved this little place! From the time you walk in, you are greeted. All of the staff was very pleasant and attentive. My friends and I sat at the bar and from what I was told, the young lady behind the bar ( most of the staff told me their names but I'm terrible with remembering names ) was in training but I definitely could not tell!! She was on point! Drinks were amazing and she was also taking food orders and even caught one of our dishes had been made improperly BEFORE it even came out of the kitchen. She had it corrected and came to inform us instead of allowing us to believe the food was just taking that long. Like I said, on point! The food was delicious though. Everything we had came out hot and full of flavor. There were also quite a few regular customers including a friend of mine, which says alot about a place! I'll definitely be visiting often myself as it's a nice cozy spot with great drinks, great food and great service. read more

We recently tried Mouton's for the first time and it was ok. We got takeout so didn't have much interaction with the staff but when we picked it up, the server at the front was very friendly and helpful. I also saw there was live music in the back so I might come back just for the ambiance. Overall the food was 3.5/5 for us. We both got pastas and neither were amazing. I'm not sure if it was because it was takeout or if we ordered the wrong thing because all the other reviews sound great for this place. We will have to give it another time and go for something besides pasta. read more

First time here. Food was awesome, fresh and portions huge. The only negative was the long wait to receive order.

My wife and I are in town for the month working and this little place was just around the corner. Tried it out and was more than completely satisfied. Food was excellent and the beer was cold. Service was outstanding! Not busy mid-afternoon when we arrived and was warmly greeted by the bartender and a few locals sitting at the bar. We chose to sit on the nice patio. Don't mistake this as some neighborhood bar with typical bar fare. They have a great selection on their menu that is sure to please. We will make this our go to place while we are here. Good Cajun style cuisine. read more

This evening my wife and I went to Mouton's based on on-line reviews of it having an award winning chicken fried steak. Our experience was not good. When we came in we were told to sit wherever we wanted. We chose a table and waited for the waitress to stop by. It took 15 minutes to have our initial contact and to have drinks ordered. When the drinks arrived I ordered the chicken fried steak and my wife ordered the meatloaf. It took nearly 30 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did my chicken fried steak was barely warm, much less hot off the grill. My wife said her meatloaf was also barely warm and was not very good. The taste of my chicken fried steak was barely average (and that's being generous), certainly not award winning as they state in their menu. Additionally, the waitress never came by and checked on us or refilled our drinks during the entire meal. When we finished we bussed our table and stacked the plates to be picked up. It was just over 20 minutes after that the the waitress finally came by and we asked for the check. Barely warm food, long waits to be served, no refills, and another long wait for the check, we were not impressed. Very unlikely that we will return. read more

food is always excellent but recommend take out. last 2 times service is abysmal to non existent

I really want to like them...I've tried them twice. Once in person and the second time through delivery. They have lots of offerings on the menu that sound good but unfortunately the taste of the food doesn't seem to match the expectations. I'm a fan of Cajun foods, so I've definitely had the good and the bad. This is just bad. They also completely messed up my delivery order and charged me extra for food I never received. I won't be back. Edit: since there was a response. I originally wrote that I ordered through Uber eats, but I actually ordered through the link on Yelp. I'll post a picture. read more

Want a great place to hang at the bar for great drinks and even better food? Head over to Mouton's Cedar Park. Every time is a fun time. Abigail is one of the most attentive bartenders around! Per review below: I love moutons and Im a regular. I was here tonight and the food was great, the restaurant was clean, and the service was phenomenal. As always. Unfortunately I overheard the conversation happening behind me. Brailee and Abbi did everything they could to fix the situation as they were upset about everything, and comped the entire bill for them. Ive seen them here before and theyre always upset and they always complain about something. I've had the chicken fried steak multiple times and it's delicious. read more

I had such a lovely experience last Sunday that I had to post. The staff always makes me feel so welcome, but the star of this visit was the Eggs Benedict. Perfectly toasted english muffin, poached eggs that flowed like tasty yellow lava when you cut into them, and super lemony Hollandaise sauce. Crispy hashbrowns topped it off to make my morning. I liked it so much I had to ask who made it. Thanks you for making my Sunday delicious, Alysha! read more

Went there for the Chicken Fried Steak as a to-go order. The Chicken Fried Steak was perfect as well as the gravy and the green beans. The mashed potatoes were good but there wasn't enough. I would go there again for the food but the service was a little lax. My food was sitting on the hostess stand for quite a while before I noticed it and I was sitting right across. I checked the name on the tag to make sure it was mine and left. I guess I should have tipped more to make sure I got my food handed to me. A man who looked like the manager/owner had his back to the hostess stand and talking to someone else or I would have brought it to his attention. To the owners, you should really make sure to have your restaurant fully staffed. read more

This is the 2nd time my daughter-in-law & I have been here. This time, we both ordered the Smoked Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy & fresh green beans. The Smoked Meatloaf was really good, and the green beans were really fresh and still had some snap to them. Our server was very attentive and friendly. She kept checking back with us to see if we needed anything else. It was dinner time and was very loud in the restaurant because there is a bar and there were a lot of customers dining in. The 1st time we dined there, it was lunchtime, and it was not loud at all. The food was good both times, and we will definitely consider eating here again when we are in the area. read more

Mouton's Bistro - Smoked Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy & fresh green beans. - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Cedar Park, Texas

My dear friend placed an order for me and the Things from this location today. There were several menu items in the order to include meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gumbo, chicken and fries, and a caesar salad. So let's get to it, shall we? Gran Jan's Gumbo- I am a fan of gumbo and anyone who knows me or who reads my reviews knows this as well. I enjoyed the dark roux. The darker the color the more pronounced the roux's flavor. While the roux lacked on the spice I usually make mine with, it did come through with flavor. All it took to get the dish to my standards were a few dabs of hot sauce and a shake of black pepper. Al's Chicken- This was by far my favorite dish. The chicken was tender and flame broiled just enough to let allow the flavor of the chicken to come through. Smoked Meatloaf w/gravy- I didn't have this item, but Thing One did. He enjoyed this item but elected to eat it without gravy. He also ate the green beans and advised they were fresh and the spices that were on the green beans elevated this simple legume. In general, this place is a great place for comfort food. read more

Wanted to try something new to me and ran across Mouton's Bistro & Bar. Tried the Chicken Fried Steak and a ice cold beer for a late lunch, why not right! The Chicken Fried steak was a very good portion, mashed potatoes had good texture and flavor. Green beans were okay, but overall the dish was pretty good. Took most of my plate home to enjoy for dinner. read more

I was pretty excited to try out a Cajun/Texas restaurant but unfortunately the food did not meet expectations. I got a shrimp po boy which was on very basic bread, very little sauce and poorly put together. The shrimp inside by itself was flavorful and ended up just eating that opposed to the whole sandwich. Fries were great too, very flavorful. My wife got a chicken jambalaya which was extremely dry. There was no type of sauce given w it. The service was OK. Our waiter seemed in a rush the whole time and didn't check up on us not once. Ambience was fine, it was quiet and not packed when we went but we asked to be seated away from the bar and that side of the restaurant was very stuffy (left side); we communicated our disappointments to the bartender/waitress and she was very understanding! And ended up taking off the soup from our tab. I really wish I would of gotten her name but we did appreciate her for listening and understanding and not making us feel weird for our experience. read more

Decent Cajun food in Cedar Park. Service was good and the food was decent. I think I could have ordered better so that's on me. The fish tacos I ordered were pretty basic but the chicken fried steak looked really good. Will be ordering that the next time I stop by. Having an out door seating area is a nice plus but be warned there were a lot of flies. read more

How have I not tried this place before? If you have breakfast anywhere in cedar park, stop here first. I stopped in for breakfast and my mind was blown! The food is amazing, the portions are huge and the service is top notch. I had the Lagniappe and it was enough food for 2 people. The bacon pieces are large and it comes with a side of grits and 2 biscuits and gravy. My girlfriend had the stuffed burrito. The burrito is smothered in gravy and worth every penny. You know when you eat something and it makes your heart smile, yup that happened at breakfast this morning. read more

Well I normally really enjoy Mouton's. Sorry to hear Ben had sold. With an open mind and a promise that nothing would change I went to enjoy my Saturday Lunch with Crawfish. Glad that the staff was the same and as soon as I entered was notified that the crawfish was being cooked by an outside catering, not Moutons. Well on we go, requested the normal 3 pound and I always add sausage. Well no sausage available. Strike 1, did not take long for the bugs to arrive. Potatoes were the size of a quarter, corn had been divided again and was about 1.5 inches wide, strike 2. 1 mushroom in 3 lbs , not much flavor and many were mushy. Strike 3. Very disappointed. Service was good as always, but was very disappointed. My go to place for mud Bugs has gone way down the list as it's not cooked with what I Call in house. Just my thoughts as I have been going to Moutons for 14 yrs every Saturday during crawfish season. read more

Sat, ordered our food, waited 45min, then came and told us it'd be another hour because they ran out of crawfish. No comps, no trying to work it out, just sorry you're SOL and gonna have to wait another hour to eat. Shit happens, it's how you handle it that matters. Lots of places do offer crawfish and they just lost regular customers because of it. Do better! read more

Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning and everything was pretty solid + had great portions. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs and the friends I was with ordered the Lakeline Taco and Texas Philly. If you're looking for something to fill your up for brunch I would recommend the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. But what really surprised me was how big the Lakeline Taco was! For the price, you pay the amount of food you get makes it even better. Would recommend Mouton's if you're looking for a solid American breakfast. There is also a parking lot in front so parking is fairly easy. read more

In from out of town, got a sitter to head out for dinner with family. Our server forgot to enter our order, which coming from the service industry I understand can happen, but after an hour and 15 min they said "yeah it'll still be a while, sorry". A manager came over and said sorry it'll be right out, and I said are you sure bc the server just said a while. Sure enough, she goes back and it will be awhile. They didn't make us pay for our drinks, but we left with one to go order and the other two of us having not eaten and almost zero accommodations or accountability made.. We made a specific choice to dine here and support the restaurant and felt very let down. 1hr and 15 min was a LOT of time to not notice and tell us food is on it way multiple times. Super disappointed to leave without dinner after an hour and a half in total and having paid for a sitter for a night out. read more

We are regulars at this location. So much I enjoy - the jambalaya, red beans and rice, and even the chicken fried chicken. At times, the consistency can be off but usually it is great. We have not eaten in the restaurant so that could absolutely be a factor as well. At times, the portion size is extremely small compared to the price. My fiancé got a chicken Caesar there and a full portion looked to be less than a side salad. We will continue to go but will avoid certain dishes on the menu. read more
