Definitely has leveled up since back in the day!! Reasonable prices for location. Has really nice looking lunches as well and an interesting menu. Check it out! Also, I really appreciated the background music. Appropriate for a Sunday morning and no heavy metal screaming in the background. Makes me want to linger and enjoy my coffee and the incredible view of the Sawtooth Mountains through the window. Good job!! read more

Upon entry, I asked the older gentlemen host about a patio or if it was dog friendly. He said no, which I was fine and I said I still like a table for 6, my wife would be outside with the dog. He begrudgingly sat us and tossed our silverware on the table. That wasn't cool, he seemed super grumpy. I notice things and people notice things in general. If you don't want to be friendly, then maybe a host isn't the job for you. The eating area was nice. It had enough space where you didn't feel like you are on top of each other. The server we had was actually super nice, I did not catch her name but was great. Attentive and friendly to us all. The food we ordered was the tri tip, peach salad with shrimp, mini cheeseburgers, soup, and chicken wings. The tri tip was smokey and tender but you barely got any. The taters I ordered were over fried in old oil, it didn't taste right. The peachy salad with the $7 add on for shrimp was a rip off, there were 5 total shrimp! $25 for this salad. Maybe 1/2 a peach. Wife described the shrimp as overcooked and rubbery. Shrimp should be slightly orange just past translucent and juicy. See photo. The mini cheeseburgers were mini but the kids liked them. Daughter liked the potato soup, and an order of chicken fingers had all fries the size of about a 1/2 in. It was weird, not sure if it was intentional as it was a kids meal. The other kids meal had normal sized fries. Overall it was disappointing. Also, I don't like restaurants who calculate the tip for the after tax amount...tip should be on the cost of the actual food, not also the tax. Come on people. Not worth it, I wouldn't stop here again. read more

So we popped in with my wife after taking a hike, looking for some non-foo foo grub. Saw the bear hobby horse and knew this was my kind of place. Wish we had brought our kiddo to ride the bear!!! Definitely had the ambiance of a locals place, which elevated it in our book. We ordered the elk chili, the nachos with spicy beef and a couple salads. The chili comes out in a big bowl, and the nachos were piled high. Well, let me tell you. I SAVAGED those nachos. Meat and creamy cheese everywhere, slop all over my fingers. It was like feeding branches to a wood chipper. I mean, I did DAMAGE, for God and Country. The elk chili was fantastic. Great taste and large portion size. We managed to finish it off between two of us. By the time it was over, the table was pure CARNAGE. Chili bowl looked like it survived a zombie onslaught and there was meat, cheese and unidentifiable goodness everywhere near the nachos plate. I cleaned it up the best I could and AWESOME waitress BOBBIE C came and finished clearing the murder scene. Like that wasn't enough, we split a chocolate toffee mousse dessert. Creamy chocolate mousse goodness. Pure heaven. I know, after the chili AND nachos, there is going to be a plumbing WAR CRIME soon, but I would go back to Mountain Village Restaurant in a heartbeat. Can't recommend this place enough! Big thumbs up!!! read more

In this small town nestled in the mountains, this sit down restaurant is one of the few options in the area. I came with a large group at the beginning of hunting season and had dinner here. Even with the large number of people in the area and our large party, the wait time for a table was not very long. The food itself was hit or miss. The burgers were under cooked so make sure to say how you would like the burger cooked. The salad on the chicken was dry and over cooked. Everything else was okay. The steak was the most enjoyed meal in our party. The breakfast was a bit better. The biscuits and gravy were good, but the hash browns were not very crispy. The cinnamon roll and pancakes were very good. The breakfast sandwich was good, but not very filling. The eggs were over cooked, especially the fried egg. The service was a little slow but I think that was due to the crowds and how large our party was. Staff were very friendly and everything was very clean. Overall, you don't have a lot of options here but there are decent options in this small town. read more

Service was fine The burger that I ordered came out with blood on the plate to the the point of pooling and soaked the bottom bun I am talking this was raw like you get out the fridge raw. Was taken off my ticket by our server. Even asked if they could get me something else. I said no not looking to get sick due to the cooks obvious lack of knowledge on food safety read more

Hubby had a glass of the pinot gris and I had their signature drink, the River's Edge Sour, to start along with the buffalo-style chicken wings that were perfectly cooked and juicy while being crunchy on the outside. I had the steak frites and the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare to my request. Hubby had the bison steak and it was also cooked to medium rare perfection. The service was exceptional and much appreciated when our server told some inattentive parents their children were running around amok and needed to be reined in. He did so professionally and we saw that others were relieved how he had handled the situation. Other than the rowdy children (who were handled appropriately), the ambiance was good. read more

Was super excited to come here and checked in on Apple Maps to see if they allowed dogs which says they do. Got turned away once we arrived.

I had the tri-tip French dip and wasn't very impressed. The meat was a bit "chewy" (which in their defense is common to French dip sandwiches) for tri-tip. The jus was rather watery and not flavorful. Service was also slow and very difficult to get water refills. The burgers looked big and I heard they were good but not great. The prices were average to a little high. read more

Top notch food and operation. A very nice place a long way from the major population centers. We loved the draft local Cider. We both were completely full and pleased with our choices of the pot roast French Dip sandwich and the western bacon cheeseburger. The fries were great. The service was perfect. Clean bathrooms and well organized dining area. We were sure glad to enjoy this restaurant almost 4 hours away from home. read more

Great food and service. The hotel desk gave us some misinformation regarding drinks at the restaurant, no big deal, but the restaurant manager comp'd us on the drinks. The elk chili was delicious and the peachy salad was surprisingly gourmet. read more

Classic small town bar/ restaurant. Rustic, cabin decor. You got you taxidermy on the walls, an old pool table, and just old school country vibes. There's two big rooms, one is the main dining area with many tables, the other room being the bar with more tables and a pool/ foosball table. We were more in the party mood, so we hung out on the bar side. We ordered some drinks and some of us also ordered dinner. I went for the vegetarian killer pasta. It was actually super flavorful and delicious. Exactly what I needed to balance out our adult beverages. It also happened to be karaoke night who can happened to be a fun surprise! There wasn't a crazy amount of people inside, but it was a great vibe and fun group of people regardless. The bartender was nice and the server would check in on us from time to time. Collectively it was a super fun experience and the drinks and food were pretty good and cheap on top of it! Definitely worth stopping in if you're looking for a good time. read more

The first time I came in I was greeted like family, the most amazing warm at home feeling like I was home. I'm 3,500 miles away but the people here are just AMAZING. So friendly, so accommodating and just genuine. I've had breakfast here and dinner. I could give it 10 stars! The bartender Zach is fantastic. The chef is spot on. I would give this place 20 stars if I could. If you want a place to go this is a place to go if you're out here in Stanley, Idaho! I very rarely do reviews but this place is fantastic times 1 million. And the rooms that are here... Amazing in the view is epic. Make it happen! Cody the chef is fantastic and Joel the Manager runs a tight clean ship! Trust me... I don't do this... but when I do... it's worth its weight in GOLD! read more

Superb, simple yet hearty menu. Excellent execution. Perfect for a small town on the wide open range to tuck in and chow down. Onion rings are substantial and well cooked. Great ambiance, but mediocre service and food. We stopped on during the Sawtooth Festival. It was not busy. We were sat quickly and beverages came in a timely manner. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive. People who came in after us where served before we were. The waitress was courteous, but we felt like we were ignored. Food was okay, but the price point didn't match the quality. Fries were soggy and sandwiches were dry. read more

The. Cocktails were competent. Tried their signature whiskey store with boisenberry - is sad foods but not memorable. Their rye Manhattan was great. Nachos with chicken ate appreciated by the entire table. Elk chili was good as was the southern fried steak. Final check was reasonable. A very good alternative if you're in the area. read more

We made a quick stop for some breakfast before we went fishing. The interior was super cozy and homey inside. It was super cold outside, and I loved that they had a fire going. I ordered the waffle meal and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak. My waffle was delicious. I ordered the special maple syrup with it, and it tasted amazing. I got so full from the waffle alone, so I shared my bacon and eggs. My husband said his food was really good as well. The service was great too. The only thing I wish is that they had a few more options, like perhaps french toast. This place is still a super great place to stop and enjoy some food. read more

Tucked away in Stanley. Awesome spot to stop if you're in the area. Came by on a weekday afternoon with 2 buddies after a morning of unsuccessful hunting. Fun ambiance inside, free wifi login on wood signs throughout the inside in case you don't have mobile reception. Super friendly waitress who gave us useful and honest recommendations and put up with one of my friend's constant questions. Western burger hit the spot. Beefy, good amount of bacon. We added jalapeños which are grilled for a smoky kick. Fries are solid. Nachos were a HUGE plate. Got it with juicy grilled chicken. I liked that it had melted cheddar AND gooey nacho cheese. Lime crema added a good tart balance, and the salsa verde and guac were in cups on the side so nothing got too soggy. Whole plate was nicely toasted in the broiler and chips were thin and crispy. Only downside/caveat is that it IS pricey, but hey I'm an expensive-city girl and the prices didn't faze me. Plus the quality was top notch, service was great, place was fun, and it's expensive to get supplies that far out. Bathrooms were clean and bright. View of the mountains outside the window is gorgeous. Hope to come back for another visit soon. read more

First of all, the food here is all right. The tots were excellent, but that's the best I can offer in my review. I don't normally write reviews like this, but we definitely felt racially targeted during our visit - another group came in well after we ordered, and they were served their food long before we were. The restaurant was empty when we came in, mind you. They kept staring at us the whole time. The server was very brusque and rude when answering questions, but sang a different tune when she saw how well we tip. Really disheartening experience. read more

Food was mediocre and not as advertised, service was bad, unreasonably priced. 1.stood at the front for 5 min while multiple employees saw me and was not greeted or sat. 2.it was 12pm Sunday. Asked for a breakfast menu and was told they're not serving breakfast (despite the sign in the front) and all they have is a breakfast burrito with no sides because the kitchen didn't want to make more potatoes 3.the waiter (I think his name was Andrew but he never introduced himself, tall guy with pony tail) was rude and unhelpful. When asked about the lager the chili *meal* has listed, he said it doesn't come with one it's just an ingredient and walked away. We still wanted and would've bought a beer, but he didn't even offer. Very short, rude, didn't check up on us at all. Picture napoleon dynamite as your server, but with worse waiting training. 4. The chicken sandwich I ordered should've had pepper jack cheese and a side of chili honey. When I asked the waiter about what went wrong with my meal, he said they were out of pepper jack and they told him an hour ago, he just didn't bother to tell me. He said they were out of the honey too. I told him at that point, it wasn't even the sandwich I ordered. I would've been fine with these changes if I had been told up front when ordering, so I could accept them, or chose a different item. 5. The fried pickles were ok except for the tajin seasoning on them. Too much and very overpowering. Also not listed on the menu. They tasted like frozen ones that were deep fried. Overall this place seems like it treats people the way they want, and they cook the food however with no regards to the customers, because there's not a lot of options in the area. We only came here because the better bakery cafe had an extremely long wait time. The chili was good but not worth $15 for a small cup. The fries and sauce were good. Those were the only reason for 2 stars instead of 1. Skip this pl Skip this place next time read more

If it wasn't that the Bakery being closed on Tuesdays I wouldn't come here. So one day a week, I'm forced to go here. This place is our mediocre alternative for breakfast. The food is so-so, I pretty much stick to sweet cream pancakes and if I'm feeling froggy get an egg or two on the side. The pancakes usually need to soak in the sweet cream for a moment to soften them up as they're always sort of crunchy on one side. The chicken fried steak is expensive as F*, and not to standard. Breakfast burrito is somewhat bland and stuffed with mostly filler. I really don't bother with dinner ever. But the only thing I actually enjoy are the fried pickles. Everything else is overpriced and minimally portioned. Every once in a while the soup is decent. You get here early in the AM and you might be waiting a while. Came with a two parties the other day and our crew that came late, ate before we did, and paid after we did. All in all an almost 2 hour ordeal for some bacon and eggs. In that time I got exactly 0 refills for my coffee too. They rely on the their decor and the fact that nothing else in Stanley is open to trap your tourist ass into a so-so meal. read more

Avoid unless you enjoy servers who come across as annoyed that you are there. Food is basic, service was rude. Go to Sawtooth Luce's, they'll treat you right. If you're a party of 6 or more beware. The receipt will say they added 20%, but it will actually be 21.75%. read more

Decent breakfast spot in the mountains! There's really not much in Stanley so you gotta give this place some credit for being one of the only sit-down restaurants here. There was a bit of a wait and you have to kinda dramatically wave your arms to get someone's attention and get on the wait list, but they were clearly very understaffed. Food is just good, nothing I will rave about but had a good variety of traditional breakfast dishes like omelette, biscuits & gravy, cinnamon rolls, etc. The atmosphere inside is very home-y and string lights add a cozy feel even during summertime. All-in-all if you are ever in the area needing a hearty meal before or after your hike, this is a solid spot! read more

We went here for lunch and it was a rough visit to say the least. It took about 10 mins to be acknowledged at our table. We ordered simple food, it took over an hour for our food to come out and they forgot one of my kids meals. Our waitress said the mini corn dogs would be out in 3 minutes...10+ mins later and we had to ask someone for them, because our waitress barely checked on us. We had 3 adults and 2 kids and they tried to add a 20% gratuity, which is supposed to be for groups of 6+. We had to ask our waitress to remove the gratuity. During this time there were 3 servers on the floor and no less than 5 open tables at a time. Needless to say it's going to take us a LOT to come back here again and we travel through often to visit family. I've worked in the food service industry for 15+ years, so I'm not leaving this review without knowledge of waitressing. read more

The food was amazing, the waiter more so. They were busy- but they got our order pretty quickly and libations as well!

We decided to eat here because it was the only place open past 9:00. Our server was great and took good care of us. I was, however, expecting more from the food. I started with the parmesan focaccia which wasn't too bad, but everything (the bread, parmesan, and balsamic reduction) seemed overly processed/store bought. For an entree, I got the pork chop. It actually wasn't dry, despite being burnt. I'm crediting that to the apple cider brine. Both of my sides, steamed broccoli & cheddar crusted mashed potatoes, needed some seasoning; which was luckily available for us on the table. I anticipated cheddar crusted mashed potatoes to be topped with a cheese crust, not wrapped in a giant, gooey cheddar cheese crisp. I was not a fan. Overall, the food on the menu sounds nice, but the execution is lacking. read more

Service is friendly and quick. Ambience is the standard western decor with dead animals on the walls watching you eat. Ok. My only issue is that the food was not great. Burger tasted kind of burnt. Breakfast burrito had some kind of grit in it like maybe eggshells or dirt that hadn't been washed from vegetables. Coffee was tasteless. Unfortunately this is the only open place most of the year because the town is only open for 3 months out of the year in the summer. Their salads and the standard breakfast (eggs and meat) were good. I don't know, maybe ask for their recommendations before you order. read more
