My best friend was dying to try the paella here! We came a bit late to see it in their giant pan at the front, but they still had it available in the back. It was pretty packed during lunch, but we beat the line. We ordered the seafood paella, the croquettas, and some pintxos out front. When we first got there, there was only outdoor seating available, but I was happy to see some indoor seating opened up (especially since it was a really hot day). We were given a number to take to any table and they brought the food to us. The market selections looked really cool and I loved all the wine that lined the walls. Our food came out pretty quickly. The paella itself was fine to me, a bit mushier than I wanted. The star of the show were the croquettas. I enjoyed the pintxos we ordered too.

Nice, cozy restaurant in Basque Block area of Boise! This is my first time trying Basque style tapas, which for those that have been to Spain or had tapas, is quite adjacent to Catalonian style tapas (Barcelona) but with different types of ingredients. We tried the pintxos of the day (3 for $10) - seafood and chorizo gratin, goat cheese and zucchini compote, and sardine bollo with lemon aioli; Basque meatballs with Sheepherder's bread, and braised lamb and potatoes. We also shared a frozen sangria which is a white wine slush with a splash of red wine float. All the food is amazing - the Basque meatballs is a bit on the saltier side but the Sheepherder's bread is so crispy and buttery! Among the pintxos, I loved the seafood and chorizo gratin the most, but all are delicious. The braised lamb and potatoes are good - the lamb is juicy while the potatoes were flavorful and slightly crispy. Service is good for an order at the counter style establishment - servers still walk around and check up on customers, even though the rest of the experience (filling water, etc) is more self-serve.

Long line for street paella that made in the kitchen... if you work near by and want fast lunch the rolls line is your place. I got one clam a two shrimp two mussels ans lots of greasy rice with chorizo. The Red Bean Soup tasted straight from a can. The fried parson peppers were good. Friendly staff, cute market. Note: the market is a single wall of import items like $28 cans of octopus.

    Paella made traditionally, outdoors.

Absolutely loved this place, will definitely be back!!! I took a minute before going to read about the Basque People. They are fascinating and Boise, ID has the largest population of Basque People in the US. I was introduced to Paella. So delicious that I'm going to make it for my husband this weekend. We sat outside and the weather was perfect 70° although a little bit windy. The restaurant had Basque people dancing their traditional dance. I would highly recommend this restaurant and their people!

Vast vino selection. Ask for help. They know their stuff.

Delicious food. Personable and warm staff that knows their Basque food. Very well curated selection of things from Basque Country on the back wall. Each visit to Boise starts with a meal here. Get the meatballs.

Unique lunch date with the family. We ordered croquettes, wine, and chocolate for dessert. It was a fun unique experience. This would be a perfect first date

We enjoyed stopping in here for lunch. The service was great and helped recommend a few items when we couldn't decide between their great selection of tapas.

    Croquettes or croquettas?

This eatery and grocery is my favorite venue on the Basque Block. Unfortunately, I visited when the Paella special wasn't in play. Still, the jambon sandwich (first item on the menu), Gildas Pintxos, and croquetas were very good. Service was very friendly and efficient. Remember, most of the section of town shuts down on Mondays.

    Paella prepared outside!

Fantastic atmosphere! Please get here 1/2 early before they serve at 6pm on the 1st Thursday and get your round plate for Paella, they run out quick. Miss Terra took care of us like we were locals. The Tapas and paella was worth the wait.

We enjoyed our tapas lunch at the Basque Market. Cute market filled with food and wine products...and tables in the middle of it all. You order from the counter and they bring the food to your table. The woman who took our order was friendly and explained the tapas we had questions on and made some good suggestions. Our order... - Croquetas: fried goodness, deliciously savory - Pimentos Verdes: green peppers tossed in garlic and sea salt, so addicting. - Patatas Bravas: the potatoes are in a yummy sauce and topped with garlic alioli. - Meatballs: in a delicious sauce, highly recommend. - Jamón Ibérico Plate: thinly cured ham that comes with an olive tapenade, roasted garlic and an onion pepper jam. You must try this, it was our favorite. We kept trying to decide which of the 3 accoutrements we liked best but loved them all. It's $29.99 and worth every bite. It comes with a freshly baked baguette. We enjoyed our leisurely lunch with some craft beers and soaked in the culture. They have neat decor, especially the giant paella pan hanging on the wall. Such a great experience before going across the street to the Basque Museum.

This is a cute little shop in the center of Basque block. If you see the Bardenay Restaurant & Distillery, Basque market is on the right. It's small inside, but there's outdoor seating as well. The store is very charming, and as someone who is not familiar with Basque culture or food, there were a lot things I didn't recognize on the menu. All of the pintxos I tried were very flavorful and I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. The ingredients in the Jamon Serrano and Manchego Cheese sandwich were also savory. It initially appears too simple (ham & cheese), however the ingredients are legit quality and this was their recommended popular sandwich. It doesn't feel like I'm eating something from Walmart. The flavor of the Spanish ham, cheese, and Spanish olive oil is unique. Water was helpful as the sandwich is a bit dry from the bread. Overall portion looks small, but it was a perfect amount of food to keep me full and happy. On some days they make paella outdoors, which I'm sad I missed out on. It could be more crowded on those days, but when I went on a weekend afternoon it was busy but still spacious. I'll have to come back sometime!

We had a great experiencing eating tapas here! Everything was very delicious, we also ordered patatas bravas (not pictured) in addition to the meatballs, croquetas, and sheepherders bread. Would recommend!

The reason we went back the second time was because we remembered how good the food was and how nearby it was too. The second time the food was still really good, but the service was HORRENDOUS. Brittney was such a ***** to me and my parents, my mom especially. My mom was complimenting her and something about the food, and she straight up just walked away in the middle of my mom still talking. And no it wasn't busy. It was towards the end of the night, there was maybe 2-3 other customers there. She acted like we were bothering her the whole time. Then once she'd leave us would just stand up at the bar flirting with the other guy working there and just ignore anyone else. Then on top of all of that, my dad tells me she added $10 onto her tip! FRAUD!!! I've attached photos as evidence. My dad still tipped her even though she was so rude and disrespectful. But apparently that wasn't enough for her and added $10 onto the total. I cannot believe that. And my dad tells me it was difficult to get his $10 back after calling and talking to the manager. He didn't get the name of the manager but he said that they were just making excuses and saying oh but she's our best server. Obviously not! Saying things like oh she must've just been really busy. Again, we were there when it was dead and about to close soon, no it was not busy. It's almost as if this business does this type of thing often because there was no alarm from the manager, then finally after much deliberation decided to send back the $10. Absolutely ridiculous. No : "I'm so sorry here's a free meal on us", or atleast a "here's a coupon or gift card for next time you come in", nothing. This is the type of thing that gets people closed down. We should report to the BBB. This is insane. And to not be offered anything to make it right is what really gets me. Like do they not want us to ever come back??? Not to mention tell everyone we know, etc. Yikes! And this is what we get for wanting to support local businesses instead of going to the big chains. What a bummer.

Ambiance was pretty cool, with a lot of Basque cultural pictures and spread over a couple seating areas with inside a larger mini-mall setup. It was a tad loud though. So we went tapas style, ordering 5 dishes and 2 desserts. Mains -Basque meatballs had great flavor within the meatball, but the gravy seemed a bit flat like a powder mix base. -Cod in Salsa Verde was a disappointment. The clams had no significant meat and the sauce was a tad bland. -Really enjoyed the Txistorra In a Blanket. The chorizo had a really nice flavorful punch and wrapped light filo. The coupled sauce had a balanced flavor with spicy kiss. -Really enjoyed the calamari strips. Not chewy with a light breading. Very fresh taste and the sauce was very good. -The Pan con Tomate with Manchego cheese were very nice. The jamon had a great cure and texture with a nice foccacia and cheese base. The tomatoes gave it a nice acidic punch. Dessert -The burnt cheesecake was a crowd pleaser. The cheesecake really let the cream cheese come through without a ton of sugar. -Tarta De Manzana was great. Firm, thinly slice green apples with an amazing crust with great body and featuring caramelized granulated sugar on the bottom. I just wish they would have put more orange marmalade on the base to bump up the aromatics. It really would have made it flavor explode.

Barbacoa really books up, but we were in luck, snagging one of the last reservations on a Friday night! We had a lovely waitress and clean-up guy . Today my friend wanted to celebrate her birthday here so of course I said yes! We decided to sit on the outdoor patio today. It wasn't the warmest day but it was beautiful out. The sun was peeking out once in a while. The table was nicely shaded by a huge umbrella. The sun was nice but to have it beating on you isn't the best so the umbrella was appreciated. It was the perfect table for our outing. Jerika (I hope I spelled her name right) greeted my friend and I with her beautiful smile. We got some drinks started so while they were being worked on, my friend and I breezed over the menu. I did somewhat enjoy my charboiled salmon at the Eagle Bardenay for my birthday a couple weeks ago. The chefs did undercook my first plate of salmon. The server was kind to take my plate back to have the chefs remake it. The second attempt was appreciated but it was unfortunately a fail. The salmon came out so dry. I get that I wanted it well done but not jerky. But, today's a new day and I was willing to give it another shot. So today, I ordered the salmon with veggies instead of the salad. My plate came out and it looked promising. I love beautiful char marks on my food. The char marks today were perfect. My veggies looked nicely cooked but I could tell that some of the squash was still undercooked by the color. I didn't mind, it's a sign of freshness. As much as I wanted to stare at the prettiness of my food, I was ready to dig in! My salmon was so good! It was perfectly cooked! No raw spots in the middle, it was flaky and moist. It was a fabulous piece of salmon. The sun dried tomato butter is a fantastic add on to the salmon. I honestly could have polished another piece of fish. The chef that cooked my salmon today needs a raise! My lunch was chef's kiss! My friend enjoyed her lunch and her birthday drink! The outdoor patio was so relaxing. My lunch was also enjoyed. Our server was kind and attentive. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday lunch for my deserving friend. I hope that it won't be another 5+ years till I come back. I will need another plate of salmon with that sun dried tomato butter soon.
