This is one of the coolest buildings in downtown Boise. The Idaho Candy Company has rich history in Boise, they are still making their popular spud bars in this factory. I've recently tried more of their candies - the Huckleberry Gems, the Vandal Bar, and the Bronco Bites. I adore how they keep the Idaho pride with their themed candies. I recently went there with my family, and we got a little bit of everything, took it home, and had a cutting to try pieces of all of their chocolates. They even had a bag of toffee shaped like little potatoes. They are very thoughtful about the products they make, and it's all high-quality very delicious! I hear they are doing tours soon (can't wait!), but in the meantime, I frequent the shop to get gifts for clients and friends. Who doesn't love some local candy? My family loves this place.

Located in downtown, it is the perfect place for gifts and to learn a little history. There's pictures and descriptions about the history of it. I think the prices were also very reasonable. There's bars and small bags that are less than $3 as well as larger assortments.

Visited Idaho for the day while traveling the western USA. Tried a Spud candy from a gas station and fell in love. We were curious about where to find more of these delicious little chocolates so we asked around. The folks at our hotel recommended going to the actual candy factory. We were so excited to go, but were on a time crunch and had about an hour before having to leave for our next stop. We were so delighted when we arrived. We weren't sure what to expect. The store was small but had several candy bars we weren't familiar with as we browsed we were also able to look at the history. Then employees in the store let us know that the factory was indeed still in operation. Such a cool place with many unique candy bar options. We bought a variety pack and enjoyed them all! We won't be back in Boise ever again, but we will be ordering these new favorite candy bars online!

We didn't manage to get to the Idaho Candy company headquarters but we did spot one of their products and enjoyed it. The "Idaho Spud" bar is a candy bar - cocoa flavored with a soft marshmallow center and a chocolate coating that is then sprinkled with coconut. While it does look a lot like a potato, it does not actually contain any potato ingredients and does not taste like potato. It tastes like chocolate bar and sweetness. The first two ingredients are sugar and corn syrup. Yep, we found it (of course) at the Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot, ID.

What a treat--no pun intended. This old-timey shop is also a small museum displaying early 20th century small business paraphernalia. There are covered containers of samples of all the candies you might want to purchase so that you can make sure you DO want to purchase. Fun and yummy.

I was visiting Boise for a real estate conference when I noticed the building that houses Idaho Candy on a morning bike ride. It was only a few blocks from our hotel and worth the walk back later in the day when they were open. I walked in and immediately was greeted by Dave who later identified himself as the owner. We talked a bit about his family's business and about my corn allergy which he was very sympathetic and pointed out the few candies in his store that I could actually eat. I bought the Chocolate Peanut Clusters. It wasn't until I return to my hotel room that I actually took my first bite. Wow! They are divine. I am so happy that I made the extra effort to go back. They close at 4 PM so I got there at 3:57 but the owner never made me feel rushed. He was quite enjoyable to talk to and I'm glad that I got the opportunity to learn more about his candy business. He is Mr. Idaho Spud a.k.a. Willy Wonka!

Our dad used to get us a box of Idaho Spuds! We stumbled onto the factory store while exploring Boise. Thanks for the unique treat!

Cool little stop. About same price at WalMart, but you can get Idaho Spuds T-shirt and gifts. Worth walking in, if in downtown Boise.

A friend and I had some time to kill in Downtown Boise and we stumbled upon Idaho Candy. We were drawn in by the super old building and architecture. It was really neat to look around the small storefront area and see all of the pictures and antiques. They offered samples of the different candies that they make. There were also full size candy & Idaho Candy merchandise that you could buy. We attempted to ask the woman working there some questions about the building and the company, but she had no interest in engaging in any conversation. I wish they offered tours of the building! It would be really neat to just look around and see an old factory and learn about the history of the company. I'm glad that we stopped by and took a look, but I don't think we will ever return.

    Love the hats!
    Stella C.

Neat place to see, but very small with very few items to choose from. I liked it because my husband and his cousin got matching hats which was a fun souviner. The candy was not that different from other places, but still a neat novelty to check out. They also are generous on the free samples of one or two of the items but the others you cant try.

The chocolates are definitely the highlight: they taste premium, are beautifully made, and feel high quality. They're slightly on the expensive side, but worth it if you want really good chocolate. About half of the store appears to be their in-house chocolates and truffles, while the other half consists of gummies, taffy, and other candies that are sourced from elsewhere. I did ask before buying, so I knew -- but unless you ask, it's not very clear what's made in-house and what isn't. A bit more transparency would be helpful. The gummies I tried were excellent (and I even got a great $1 bundle deal). The taffy, sourced from Salt Lake City, had good flavor but was firmer and more rubbery than the soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture I prefer. Overall, a strong 4 out of 5 stars -- great chocolates and selection, with just a little room for clearer labeling.

I arrived about 45 minutes before closing, and the young lady managing the store was super friendly and helpful. I explained that I wasn't sure what time they closed because the information on Yelp and Google did not match. She said she would update the operating hours to match. There's a lot of sugar inside, and the sweet aroma smacks you in the face the moment you open the door. I walked around the store, asked a bunch a questions, and then made my way to the gelato. The young lady explained that the gelato is made by a man from California, and it is brought in fresh. There are a lot of flavors to choose from, and they all look amazing. The store has bulk, candy from the past, and current candies like pez. The people at the counter were wonderful. They have soda in the coolers. They always have such a big variety of goodies. Walking in, it's hard not to get overwhelmed by all the goodies, colors and displays. We went straight to the display counter to look at the truffles and to see if they had the Dubai bar. We were the only ones in the store. It was quite weird not to see a sales associate for a good amount of time. We located the bar, she decided against the bar since she can get one local for the same price and almost double in size. We walked around the store and looked at all the fun stuff. I love how everything is so organized and clean. When you have multiple customers through out the day going in and out of a bin, it's nice to see that it's clean. I personally don't like candy in bulk cause of potential germ contamination. But honestly, I have boughten candy from this joint and I have never had any issues since they keep it so clean. If your looking for a small sweet treat, Lolli and Pops would be a great store to grab your goodies at. Our even a fun gift for someone that likes sweets. They have a little of everything which is nice! Customer service wasn't the best when we were there. But we didn't stress about it. Maybe next time customer service will be better.
