    Let's eat!
    Dani S.

My husband and I were brainstorming what we should have for lunch. We were going to be all over town so we had a few options. I threw out Tango's since the hair supply house is right across the street. My husband has been here a few times and this would be my first. He has his regular empanada that he normally gets. It took me a minute to go over their broad menu. After breezing through the menu, I got the chili carne. I added sour cream and jalapenos to that bad boy. We got a total of 4 empanada. Chili carne, cheeseburger, peaches and apple. Grabbing the tray from the counter, you can feel the heat coming off the food! It was so hot! We worked on the fries first. I knew the middle of the empanada was going to be liquid fire so we gave it a minute before we bit into them. The fries were basic crinkle cut. You can't really mess them up. My husband's cheeseburger was demolished. He enjoyed it very much. My chili empanada was good. It's very messy to eat! I ended up having to use utensils to eat it so I didn't get chili everywhere. There was a good amount of sour cream and the jalapenos were spicy. The dessert empanadas were good. We added caramel to the apple empanada. It's a good combination but the caramel was overwhelming. Next time we will ask for more apple to caramel. The peach empanada was lacking a little flavor. The fact that it was coated in powdered sugar helped but more peach flavoring would have been nice. Overall, it was a good food stop at Tango's. This place is not the fanciest but it pushes out good food. Service was ok depending on who helped you. But if you come for the food and not the service than you should have a decent experience.

Thank you so much for the lunch today at the airport. Your kindness to feed workers not receiving a paycheck was very generous. I had the BBQ empanada and the cheese empanada. The dough was hot and crisp and delicious. The filling was perfect for someone with plain Jane taste buds. You are appreciated.

The food looked great, however, my first bite into the Gaucho empanada was such a disappointment...the ground beef had no flavor whatsoever. I was expecting a flavorful, bursting with spices empanada, but was sorely disappointed with the meat (needed a whole lot more help than salt and pepper. I'm surprised at all the great reviews for their empanadas which is why I stopped by....not sure I would recommend this place if you're looking for an amazing tasting empanada.

This little mom and pop place has incredible Argentinian style empanadas. The rancho was my favorite!!

Argentina-styled empanadas. I ordered the Gaucho and chimicarne empanadas. The Gaucho one is definitely the better tasting one. Not bad but I had better empanadas. These ones are deep fried, not baked. But there were No limes available to squeeze. Service is okay but the staff did not know the WiFi password. Don't expect to be waited on. Fair ambiance. You order at the register and sit down at any table, just like any fast food restaurant. It was worth trying but I am not amazed.

We've been coming here for years! It's a little far from us but worth the drive. The food is always hot and fresh and delicious. The prices have gone up very slightly in the last 2 decades - you can have a savory and a sweet for under $10!!! It's not fast food, it tastes homemade and worth the short

These are probably the best empanadas I've had in awhile! The empanadas are fresh, flaky and big. My bf and I halved each empanada and ordering 6 was good for us. We ordered the Gaucho, Cheeseburger, Breakfast, Chimicarne, Coco and Brazilian. The Gaucho was the best in my opinion. The dessert empanadas were good too because they weren't overly sweet. The staff was also really nice when we were ordering but as we were leaving one of the staff was staring at me, looked away and shook her head??? I dont know what I did but I am going to believe positive intent. It wasn't a nice feeling leaving the restaurant after that happened and really enjoying our food, but its okay. Overall, we were there for the empanadas! Love the consistency of filling to bread ratio. Empanadas Ive had typically have more bread, so these empanadas were a nice change of pace. The Gaucho probably had the most filling inside compared to the other savory empanadas we got, second most would be the Chimicarne. There is also a parking lot so it wasnt hard finding parking.

Food. I assumed that the empanadas where made previously and cooked when ordered. They are not, as I requested a "custom" order. Got the Chimicurri with cheese added. It was wonderful. But as all of the empanadas, they are hot! Service was great. No issues Ambiance isn't overly Latin American, I kind of wish it was a little more Latin.

We found this place by accident, we were down the street at the Tesla charger. The food was incredible, great service. This place is a must for sure!

All I need to say is the food is great! Fried empanadas but they're not greasy at all. The ingredients are good quality and delicious. There's something on the menu for everyone! The original location is everything you want in a local food place. It's always busy but food comes out fast and hot.

Who would have thought that somewhere in Idaho would have the most authentic South American empanadas?! Ya, me neither... Yet Tangos continues to gain popularity. While visiting Boise I knew I had to venture a little out of downtown for this gem. It was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Female Foodie's 13 Best, and Yelp's Blog "Best Empanada in Every State." All for a good reason. As someone who has lived in Argentina, these are whole-heartedly the most authentic empanadas I've had north of the equator! Although the shop is located on a busy, nondescript street and the exterior looks basic with Latin American flags, don't pass it up. While I had dinner plans and was eating a late lunch, I decided to choose two empanadas to snack on while strolling the Greenbelt: Gaucho (ground beef, eggs, olives, onions, bell peppers and spices) and Saltena (ground beef, onions, eggs and potatoes). While both were spectacular, but the Gaucho was truly flavorful and delicious til the last crumb. A pocket of chef kisses! What I particular loved and appreciated was the crispy, fried empanada exterior. It was exactly how I remember them to be at any cafeteria in the streets of Buenos Aires. I encourage you to ask for chimichurri to dip them. ¡Hasta la próxima, Tangos!

Pro-tip: The portions are pretty big actually! Highlights: They have tons of options which is really impressive. I enjoyed all the ones I tried and love the option to made the dessert ones a la mode. Lowlights: I haven't had a lot of empanadas, but I did think this breading was pretty thick and I wouldn't mind less of it and more filling.

I have visited this food truck several times but only purchased food once. The Tri-Tip Bowl, which is the item I want to try, is always sold out. In addition to the regular menu, they always have a few specials. These photos are from my visit on 10/31/20. Here is what I ordered: Choripan ($7) - This is a traditional sandwich with homemade chorizo sausage. I got the El Gaucho, which comes with lettuce and tomato. It is on homemade bread. While I enjoyed the homemade chorizo, which is completely different than Mexican or Basque chorizo, there was simply too much bread for me. This is a huge sandwich that can satisfy two. Empanadas ($2.50) - These are available in beef, chicken and veggie. I got one of each. I liked them all, but preferred the beef. They come with a side of chimichurri sauce. Alfajor ($1.50) - This is a traditional sandwich cookie filled with dulce de leeches, a creamy caramel confection made from milk and sugar. Caramel isn't my favorite, but anyone who enjoys it would like this. Flan Evita ($4.50) - This is basically Chocoflan, which is a combination of chocolate cake on the bottom with flan on top. Mine was a bit overcooked, but delicious!

While the price point here is higher than a typical date night for us, our experiences have always been worth the price tag. The staff is attentive and offers great recommendations. The table side guacamole is a must. So good and they tailor it to your requested spice level. Be warned, it is enough guac to feed a table of 6. So good. The Firerock entree is a crowd pleaser, and tastes amazing. You can't beat the experience of it getting flambéed at your table. I've also tried various cocktails and have never been disappointed. They serve their martinis in an ice glass (yes the glass is made of 100% ice). The presentation is so fun. This is definitely our go to for special date nights.

Reservations are strongly recommended especially the weekend, but usually for the nicer months, most people go for the patio so reservations are mandatory for that. Indoors were pretty empty so you can probably get away with walking in, but for peace of mind, I would recommend a reservation. We went on a Saturday during mid May so people were celebrating Mother's Day and graduation, so we had to make a reservation a month in advance for that dinner service. We got the BBQ duck quesadilla, tableside guacamole, and the signature hot rock filet with a side of zucchini chips sprinkled with cheese. This was more than enough for 2 people as every dish is huge. The quesadilla is delicious, with a good amount of duck. Kind of similar experience to a BBQ chicken quesadilla, but fancier. Tableside guacamole is good - lots of guac but since we were seated outside with a beautiful lake view directly, there were steps so it was not possible to see the guacamole prepared tableside. The server should have mentioned it as we wanted to see the preparation, and we were never informed as such so the premium for the appetizer was not as worthwhile. The hot rock filet was good. I loved the fire show when they pour the mix of cognac peppercorn sauce. The steak was incredibly high quality - really juicy and not much tendon. This is the type of steak I have been seeking in many restaurants that fail to deliver. The zucchini chips side was good, a little flimsy on the batter, but nonetheless satisfying. We got cocktails that were icetinis - a glass with an ice shaped like the glass. They pour a small portion of the drink on the glass and left the rest in the cocktail shaker for us to pour gradually so that the drink is not as diluted, which is a good touch. Service can be improved - I understand the server is fairly new but there should be a minimal amount of experience to serve at such a high end restaurant? Some big misses I had were not giving shared plates until we asked, covering a bit of the show with the arm when pouring the fire cognac, and when requesting the check, he took a pause to place the receipt at the table but failed to see that he placed the check on top of some guac we dropped at the table so my credit cards after payment were incredibly sticky and oily. If people are dropping hundreds for a nice experience, I expected service to be better than that.

We were greeted immediately by the owner, who shook our hands, introduced himself, and instantly made us feel welcome. Like... genuinely welcome, not "hi table for two" welcome. We asked if we could sit there and suddenly we had this whole cozy room to ourselves. He even drew the curtain so it felt private and special -- chef's kiss. The food was incredible. The chicken marsala was out-of-this-world good, the naan was warm and delicious, and the kebabs were fresh with perfectly seasoned, tender meat. Everything tasted thoughtful and made with care. But the real standout? The service. Hands down. The owner kept checking in on us, making sure we were good, asking if we needed anything, joking with us -- just the right balance of attentive and chill.
