    Root beer

There is not much in this town, and this place seems to be the most popular dining destination. The meal took a while, and I think the kitchen was slammed because our turkey Reuben sandwich came out a little sloppy. It was fine tasting, but honestly, I have had much better turkey Reubens. It really just felt like a basic turkey sandwich. The strawberry rhubarb shortbread cookie, however, was delicious and definitely saved the day. Also, the root beer they serve in cans was a delightful surprise.

Such a fun time was had eating breakfast at Stanley Baking. My brother and his girlfriend were visiting from Japan and they thoroughly enjoyed the American breakfast! The eggs Benedict was very rich and yummy. The atmosphere of the cafe was very cute. I liked how it looked like a cute cabin with different art on sale. The staff was very very kind and great as well.

Window to order baked goods and coffee only. Avoid the line!

I had a delicious Reuben sandwich which was made with homemade sauerkraut with purple cabbage. What a treat! The fresh rye bread was perfect and the sandwich was just big enough not to be overfilling. I'm used to toasted bread for Reubens, but I didn't miss that at all. I suppose you could ask for that. Hubby had a sourdough blueberry muffin which was moist, not too sweet and had plenty of berries. We sat outside on the patio which offered plenty of shade and seating options. There was a line to order food and it did go a bit slow, but the man taking my order was friendly and thorough, and the food was delivered quite quickly to my surprise. The inside offered tables and several bar seats. This place is a gem and I am looking forward to returning to try the breakfast items.

Great breakfast. Watching the guy ride his unicycle away holding his box of pastries was entertaining.

The fresh black berry scone was amazing. Light and delicious. Latte was hot and yummy. Took a little bit to order our food and for it to arrive but worth the wait. The oatmeal pancakes are huge. Ambiance was comfy and cute.

    Caramel Macchiato & Idaho Kombucha

Made a coffee stop on our way out of town and ended up staying for a snack! First, this is the place to be, when we arrived there was a line out the door... but then I noticed there was an express lane. Giving people an option of dining in and ordering from a food menu or ordering a beverage / bakery item, skipping the line. Genius! I ordered a Caramel Macchiato with Almond Milk, so delicious and creamy. The barista perfected the sweetness level too (I like mine semi sweet). My partner ordered the Idaho Kombucha, making me question if I wanted to double fist with my coffee and his choice. They have an extensive bakery menu, although they do run out quick, due to demand. We had to get a cinnamon roll of course, it was *chefs kiss.* It was so good, I dug in before I remembered to take a photo! Large enough to share between two, unless you're up for the challenge. The atmosphere was lively and cozy, with cabin vibes. Highly recommend!

In a town with very few choices, these guys could get away with a far inferior product. But they don't. There will be a line. It will move quickly. Your food will arrive sooner than you imagined possible. And it will be delicious. The coffee is hot, a good solid roast. Service is prompt and pleasant. There's a grab and go window for pastries. Enjoy

"We Got the Beet" was awesome!! Crag Sandwich was just ok - mostly bread. They were happy to put our to go orders in our personal Tupperwares we brought - save the earth! Love that they have housemade sauerkraut!

Ok, I admit it. I came here for breakfast each of the three days I was in Stanley. Why? Why not! Great coffee. Friendly faces. A variety of choices. The oatmeal pancakes were awesome. The Crag Sandwich with grass fed beef sausage and cheddar was very filling. If I lived here, I would definitely be a regular.

Breakfast in the saw tooth mountains!

Great sandwiches and cookies! Seating could be a bit more comfy. Two lines to order rather than one would help alleviate long wait.

The Sawtooth Hotel Restaurant is one of the most unassuming restaurants where I experienced one of…read morethe most exceptional meals I've had the chance to enjoy in all of 2024. When you first walkup to the hotel, you are met with a very rustic, cabin-esque hotel building where you wouldn't expect to find such a fine dining experience. We were sat outside which presented the opportunity to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Sawtooth Mountain range. We ordered several dishes for our meal and every dish was just as amazing as the other! Bigwood Baguette: This was a great start to the meal! The baguette was baked to perfection and had the perfect amount of crunch to it. It comes topped with an herb oil and sea salt which added the most flavorful touch. Soup of the Day: Their soup of the day was a White Bean stew topped with rosemary and hern olive oil. The stew was rich without being too heavy and the seasoning was perfect. Soy Glazed Brussels: The soy sweet chili glaze had such a nice balance of sweetness and the slightest hint of spice. The crispy rice noodles and crumbled peanuts added such a nice textural contrast to the Brussel sprouts, which in my opinion were cooked to perfection! They were seared well without being too burnt or crispy. Beets & Burrata: Hands down one of the highlights of the whole meal. This dish came with a handful of components, that when paired together into one bite on a crostini, resulted in the most delicious amuse-bouche. The burrata was so light and fresh and I never knew that it was the perfect pairing with beets on a crostini. A MUST have. Columbia River Grilled Steelhead: Absolutely stunning. The Steelhead was executed beautifully and the mushroom asparagus risotto was cooked to perfection. Honestly, compliments to the chef for what seemed to almost be an experimental pairing with adding the sweet pesto and blueberry gastrique. Never could have I imagined these flavors being paired together atop a piece of salmon and I will not ever soon forget how flawless this dish was. Pork Schnitzel: This was my husband's dish which I did not have a bite of, but from what I could tell, the Pork Schnitzel was very well done. It was thinned out and tenderized very well and the breading looked like it was golden-crisped wonderfully. I did get to try the mashed potatoes and can remark that they were some of the best I've had! I had some of the lemon caper beurre blanc that was drizzled atop the dish and I would do anything to be able to have a jar of that at home. I am going to talk about this meal for a long time. If you are ever passing through Stanley, Idaho, it would be a giant mistake to not visit the restaurant at the Sawtooth Hotel.

The gals behind the counter were nice but clearly running around like chickens. The website is down (and has been for a while, and still is as I post this review 10 days later), which is always a drag because I like to preview the menu and cross reference with Yelp photos. When I mentioned it, they were a little snotty, so I dropped it. I ordered two sandwiches, the hot roast beef and the ham and apple. Instead, I received the meatball sandwich in place of the roast beef. Honestly, I was fine with it, but the lady doubled down and insisted I had ordered the meatball one. Spoiler alert, I did not. The ham and apple had barely a whisper of apple, so the meatball ended up being the winner of the two. The real stars here though are the cookies. Yes, they are overpriced, but they are delicious. The peanut butter based ones are the champions in my book.

This quaint shop that has doubled in size since our last visit. We ordered at the counter and waited for our Reuben sandwich and a Ceaser salad. The Reuben had corned beef, 1000 Island dressing, saur kraut on marble rye. The corn beef was chewy and the bread needed to be toasted. Quickly, the sandwich was deconstructed. The flavor was ok but very messy. The salad was split for us and had romaine lettuce, shredded parmesan, croutons and dressing. The salad was crisp and fresh but the salad tasted like a bunch of individual ingredients and not a blended meal. The dressing was also scant. I forgot to photograph the meal but don't feel it would change my opinion. The ingredients were solid but the meal tasted like the items were stacked and no effert was made to blend them together. I don't feel I need to return to Big Belly Deli. The staff was sweet and hard working. It is not what I expect at a deli. They are obviously doing well as they have expanded and are still in business after our last visit over 12 years ago.
