The Sawtooth Hotel Restaurant is one of the most unassuming restaurants where I experienced one of the most exceptional meals I've had the chance to enjoy in all of 2024. When you first walkup to the hotel, you are met with a very rustic, cabin-esque hotel building where you wouldn't expect to find such a fine dining experience. We were sat outside which presented the opportunity to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Sawtooth Mountain range. We ordered several dishes for our meal and every dish was just as amazing as the other! Bigwood Baguette: This was a great start to the meal! The baguette was baked to perfection and had the perfect amount of crunch to it. It comes topped with an herb oil and sea salt which added the most flavorful touch. Soup of the Day: Their soup of the day was a White Bean stew topped with rosemary and hern olive oil. The stew was rich without being too heavy and the seasoning was perfect. Soy Glazed Brussels: The soy sweet chili glaze had such a nice balance of sweetness and the slightest hint of spice. The crispy rice noodles and crumbled peanuts added such a nice textural contrast to the Brussel sprouts, which in my opinion were cooked to perfection! They were seared well without being too burnt or crispy. Beets & Burrata: Hands down one of the highlights of the whole meal. This dish came with a handful of components, that when paired together into one bite on a crostini, resulted in the most delicious amuse-bouche. The burrata was so light and fresh and I never knew that it was the perfect pairing with beets on a crostini. A MUST have. Columbia River Grilled Steelhead: Absolutely stunning. The Steelhead was executed beautifully and the mushroom asparagus risotto was cooked to perfection. Honestly, compliments to the chef for what seemed to almost be an experimental pairing with adding the sweet pesto and blueberry gastrique. Never could have I imagined these flavors being paired together atop a piece of salmon and I will not ever soon forget how flawless this dish was. Pork Schnitzel: This was my husband's dish which I did not have a bite of, but from what I could tell, the Pork Schnitzel was very well done. It was thinned out and tenderized very well and the breading looked like it was golden-crisped wonderfully. I did get to try the mashed potatoes and can remark that they were some of the best I've had! I had some of the lemon caper beurre blanc that was drizzled atop the dish and I would do anything to be able to have a jar of that at home. I am going to talk about this meal for a long time. If you are ever passing through Stanley, Idaho, it would be a giant mistake to not visit the restaurant at the Sawtooth Hotel. read more

Healthy choices and friendly service. Great outdoor views from the patio. Had a beet salad and a nice glass of wine.

Enjoyed our dinner here. Next time I would try to sit outside for the view, but appreciated they accommodated our group of six.

Every bite of food was so delicious. -The house salad was not your basic iceberg lettuce and croutons, it had fresh cucumbers, gorgeous golden tomatoes, a mixed green and arugula combo, and the blue cheeses dressing wasn't over baring. -Soup of the day was a fish chowder with the freshest veggies, they were cooked just right, they weren't soggy like veggies usually ate in soup. The chowder was more like a broth which was perfect for a summer night. -Pork bolognese was perfectly cooked, the pasta was al dente, and the sauce was baby basil was so delicious. -Chicken Al Pastor, was AMAZING! I couldn't decide between 2 dishes and let the server choose for me, every bite of the chicken, the bean, the pickled veggies individual or together was perfect. -Warm Mixed Berry Pie was as good and my grandma's, perfect crust, and the right portion of ice cream to pie. -Chocolate Cheesecake with raspberry coulis, one of the riches chocolate cheesecakes, would have liked more coulis. Elk chops, perfect mashed potatoes, the best carrots ever and Pinot noir. What a meal! We got there shortly after 5:00 PM and were glad we did as the restaurant fills up fast! We ate here during a recent vacation to Ralph the river. We had braised brisket and Pork Schnitzel. My Schnitzel was delicious with a mushrooms gravy. The brisket was fatty,however the sauce was delicious. We also shared a wedge salad which was delicious with flavorful blue cheese. If I could give this place 100/5 I would! This little hotel is a diamond in the rough. We traveled here after several recommendations to see Stanley before we left back home in our truck and trailer. It took 45 min from Galena Lodge and the accompanying town of Ketchum. Hands down best food, service and atmosphere! If you're passing through or are close by, the views, drive and the awaiting food at the hotel are well worth the trip!!! Don't be shy and make sure you plan a stop here!!! Get the brisket, get the brisket, get the brisket. I can't say it enough times, it's the diamond of brisket. No, just order anything on this menu because everything is out of this world. This place contributes to the elevated status of Stanley in the food world, which I am not sure has yet been discovered. This is a world-class establishment in the town of 63 people. How? I couldn't tell you. It is a gem of Idaho. It's a gastronomer's paradise. The chef must be trained in fine dining and elevated cuisine. It is a remarkable operation. Everything this kitchen puts out is . The service was incredible too. We were taken aback by the flavors, fresh ingredients, organic, light but also remarkably hearty fare. We also could not believe how satisfying our meal was. We had to take a couple laps around the block to walk it off, but it was worth it. Don't be discouraged by the prices, the food is worth every single penny. It is a once in a lifetime experience to dine here. The dining room is warm and low lit and lovely with roaring fireplaces. We had such a delightful time at the Hotel Restaurant. We all tried different things and each were so great we are going back again. The braised brisket over polenta was deep in rich flavor. The braising and smoking made this a powerful flavor of depth. It was the favorite. The pork schnitzel was also delicious. It was crispy yet moist and tender and the accompanying broccoli was perfect. Our waiter could not have been sweeter. She was helpful, attentive and very fun. What an absolute treat - vintage dining room in an historic building. Food and service was first class!

This is a rustic hotel in an authentic western town with dirt streets and hitching posts. The food was excellent and presented in a way that one might expect in a high end California or NY eatery. Service was very good too. Attentive but never bordering on annoying. I'd recommend this eatery to discriminating diners. Price was surprisingly reasonable. The town and surrounding hotels and resorts pretty much closes for the winter on October 14th so don't show up in December. read more

I ordered our food to go since we had our pup & we weren't sure about dining outside with the weather getting cooler. The service upon pick-up was top-notch. There was always something keep me posted almost every 5 min. on the status of my order and they went the extra mile to keep our ice cream separate so that I could store it in my cooler. The food was fantastic and I was a HUGE fan of their bowl. It was simply a bowl of healthy ingredients with fabulous flavors. Stayed here one night and it was fantastic! We were in one of the back building rooms which had a nice little kitchenette, great bathroom and a nice queen bed. We did not dine at the restaurant but enjoyed sitting outside in the rocking chairs and taking in the incredible view of the Sawtooth Mountains! Beautiful at sunset and sunrise. A great place to stay, I hope to get a room inside the historic main building on my next stay. read more

We were at scout camp near by when a storm came by, damaged our tents and downed trees. The lady at the front desk went above and beyond accommodating for our scout troop of 13, at 10pm. The stay was nice and the view was Incredible. I would stay here again for sure. read more

Was in Stanley for a 4 days and hands down the best service and food in town. Every other place we went to was overly slow and sometimes took forever to even be acknowledged. The staff here worked as a team and it was nice to see. Spend the extra money and get a decent meal. Note menus is seasonal. Had the pork schnitzel and the pork belly wraps. Wonderful dinner last night. Started with date,bacon,goat cheese, and parmesan crisp app. I had beet salad and my husband organic green salad. Mine was loaded with three kinds of beets cooked three ways. Husband had steak and I the brine chicken. Dessert to die for pineapple carrot cake and a rich nobake chocolate cheesecake.
