I live in Pittsburgh now but used to live in Deep Creek with my husband. The fire on the mountain pizza is the best pizza I have ever had anywhere! I seriously crave it from time to time and would drive back to Deep Creek just to get it. The cauliflower crust is also a nice option and shockingly seems likes the real deal. I'm not a beer drinker, but always enjoyed their wine and cocktails. The service there has always been great as well! Pro tip: Sit on the back patio for a beautiful view that's not of the lake, but will equally take your breath away. read more

My friends and I spent a weekend at Deep Creek Lake and saw that Mountain State had some st patty's day specials and decided to check it out. We are very much suburbia/city-folk so definitely made some comments about how there was NOONE out on the roads on our way over to Mountain State. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the parking lot was packed for Mountain State. I opted to try a flight of all their beers that they brew there. I liked their IPA the best. Four of us decided to share spinach artichoke dip and a pizza. I was a little underwhelmed by the dip but I thought the pizza was decent. The crust I almost thought was too thin, but it was still good! The fact that they brew their own beer definitely adds to the appeal of the restaurant, because I don't think the food could stand alone. read more

My family and I visited on vacation and, overall, had a good experience. Pros: friendly staff, tasty food, and suitable decor for the location. I would go back. Cons: The menu was a bit limited. 75% of the menu seemed to be pizzas. There were a few other yummy choices and a few vegetarian options, but no burgers, and they were missing some other staple brewery meals. They were DREADFULLY understaffed. Not their fault, since it seems that everyone is experiencing the same problem, but nonetheless, service was affected. Last, and maybe this doesn't matter to everyone, but the beta fish by the door was in dirty water and seemed to be in distress. I wanted to clean the bowl for the poor little guy. It made me sad to eat and watch it struggle. Again, I would go back and try again, especially on another day when they were fully staffed. The food here was good but not nearly as delicious as I expected. We ordered the Artichoke Dip and house ciders to start off the night. The artichoke dip was very cheesy and had great flavor. I liked the addition of red peppers into the dip, giving it a kick and additional crunchy texture. The pear apple cider was incredible! It was sweet. But not too sweet and was a flavor that I have not had before in a cider. For an entre, I ordered the Apple Butter Pulled Chicken Sandwich. I had high expectations of this sandwhich and was disappointed. Firstly the bbq sauce wasn't even on the sandwhich; it was in a small container on the side. I poured the sauce onto my sandwhich and it still didn't cover all the chicken. My chicken meat was also not that warm, like it had been sitting out of a while. It would have been better to have the sauce on the sandwhich already, covering all the chicken pieces. The chips that came on the side were alright, just bagged chips to complete the meal. Our waitress was super nice and accomodating. We had a total of 8 people and we were seated right away. Nice variety of beers that I'd consider 4 stars. We started with a 4 beer sampler, and added another we saw on the draft list. The Almost Heaven Amber was our favorite, followed by the Cold Trail Ale. The other offerings tasted much better once we ordered had some food. The sandwiches were good, and the unique flavors worked well enough with beers. I liked the jalapenos and cheese on the pulled pork sandwich. (The pork could have been smokier tasting though.) We got a growler of root beer to go for our kids, and they gave it a thumbs up. The adults thought it was good enough and not too fizzy! The view in the distance is hands down amazing! I wish I could give this a higher rating because the view from the patio is absolutely amazing, especially as the sun sets, and the potato salad was delicious. However. We visited on our first night in Deep Creek and my husband got a table while I parked the car. The host gave him the option of the covered patio or the fully outside patio. My husband chose the fully outside patio and texted me where he was. We waited about 20 min and no one came to greet us. There was a waiter serving the table across from us and he never approached. I went to wave him down a couple times but he would drop stuff off and then quickly go back inside. I went inside and told another server that we had been on the patio about 20 min and no one came over. He asked if we sat ourselves or if we went through the host and I let him know we went through the host and they gave us an option, so maybe no one knew we had been sat. Another 20 min went by and after the fourth time the server had been to the table across from us, while we had nothing on our table, we decided to order from the bar. I am aware I could have gone up to him or called out "excuse me", but as a former server myself if I walked by a table 4 times (even if it wasn't mine) and they had nothing on their table, I would at least ask if they had been greeted yet, and then maybe find out who's table it is. We got 2 flights and the beer wasn't all that great. The Amber one and IPA weren't bad. The food wasn't amazing either, except the potato salad, it was lemon herb and was delicious. My Reuben was ok. And my husbands pulled chicken sandwich was alright. The tipping point for me was when I heard the server who waited on the table across from us say to another table "I saw you all sitting here so I just wanted to make sure". I cannot say enough about Mountain State Brewing for your next meal!! I am not sure why they call themselves only a brewing company because their food is just as good if not BETTER! We found an ad for this place while thumbing through the tourist magazines they stock nearly everywhere in Deep Creek. We decided to visit for a late lunch during the off-season, during the week! We set the bar pretty high for them not to be off their game in the kitchen. The outside looks like an old shanty which is super fun! The inside gives off log cabin, cozy vibes- you can smell the wood fired oven as soon as you walk in the door. They also have a couple of large TV screens showcasing their in house brews, price/size offered for each, how much of each are left in the keg, and what kegs will be tapped next -- super cool! We started off with the Hillbilly Punch & the Pink Lemonade Cider - both were wonderful, though the punch 'packed a punch' and my boyfriend felt a bit tipsy after one glass! I loved the lemonade cider so much I took home a growler of it for sitting around the campfire that evening. For food, we decided on the spinach artichoke dip w/ chips, the pesto prosciutto flatbread w/ added balsamic glaze, and lemon herb chicken salad sandwich w/ lemon herbed potato salad. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious and a great start to our meal. My chicken salad sandwich was so yummy with real pulled chicken, a nice crunch of celery and onions, and a delicious mayo dressing to bring it all together. The bun was also soft and chewy and perfect with the chicken salad. The potato salad blew me away- I would definitely recommend this as a nice change from the standard side of chips or salad. My boyfriend loved his flatbread! The flatbread was already PERFECT with fresh, quality ingredients and enough of each of them (very important!) but the added glaze brought a nice sweetness to the flatbread that we enjoyed. Although it was a bit chilly for us, they provide an awesome outdoor seating area with a fire pit and a beautiful view of the rolling hills and farmland in the area. It is beautiful and definitely worth checking out if the weather is nice. I am confident that every single thing at this place is outstanding - sure the flatbreads are the star and are perfect with a cold brew - but the other offerings (chicken salad) are just as scrumptious and the same attention to detail is given. I've come here twice with friends when we've visited Deep Creek Lake. This is one of the better sit down restaurants in the area. They have a great selection of beer and beautiful landscape views! Ordered carryout for dinner one night after skiing. It was super easy to order online, however the night that we ordered (Sunday evening) it did take 45 min before our order was ready for pickup. We ordered the Fire on the Mountain and got a large Blue Ridge salad. The Fire on the Mountain was delicious, the crust has a nice crunch. I had some initial doubts about the combo of flavors, since it was a tomato with chipotle sauce base. But the flavors really worked so well together, the chipotle sauce added a hint of sweetness. I also love the sweet and spiciness of it all. I love a good char on my flatbread. The salad was also really great and had plenty of add ins. IMO salads are only good when there's a lot of toppings and add ins (lots of walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese!) read more

Great find for lunch after overnight trip before heading home. We tried several of their beers and got a Crowlerto take home. Friend and I were traveling with a dog and they had no issues with us eating outside with her. Our waitress even brought out a water bowl and a little treat for her. So nice. As with any traveling that we do, we seek out the local places. This brewing company was a very nice place to stop, get refreshed, and head to our cabin. The server was a really nice guy who was really quick with jokes and Fit well with our group. The banter that was going on between us and him was why makes customers want to come back. The pizzas (5) , we're very delicious and we passed around so everybody can have a taste. After the beer was cold, and crisp. We decided to have mixed drinks, and that was the cherry to the sundae. During a weekend trip to Deep Creek, my friends and I decided to venture out and check out Mountain State Brewing Co. We originally selected here assuming it was a brewery, instead we discovered it's a restaurant. Although they don't brew any beer on location, they do have their own beer. For $6 you can try a flight of 4 of their beers. In addition to their local brews, they have a list of seasonal specialty cocktails. I tried the apple cider mimosa and it was great. MSBC has a large menu, lots of pizza options. I ordered the Pop Eye Sandwich on whole wheat bread- it was DELICIOUS. The bacon was cooked perfectly and topped with a delicious artichoke spinach mix. We snagged a hightop and I loved the sawhorses that had been re-purposed into bar stools. I really liked the sampler of beers we tried: the oatmeal stout was my favorite. I also loved the bourbon barrel aged beer they had featured and was bummed they don't sell it by the growler. Lastly, all the food that went by us looked and smelled fantastic. I really wish I had known of this place sooner as we probably would have spent more time here rather than wasting time elsewhere in the area. Deducted a star because we went here TWICE and the first time (over an hour before closing) the doors were locked and there was still a family inside eating - a girl came out and said they closed early because it wasnt busy. Next night, we go back (even earlier, I think 7:40PM) and we we were able to get food but they closed early that night too. Just call before you go to see when they're closing! The hostess that greeted us looked like she wished we weren't there. We were debating if we had made a good decision as well. Then our server greeted us and all was right in the world! She was SO friendly and peppy. 5 stars from there... App sampler: get one! This is not the fried, brown mess you see at most places with mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, fried chicken, and nachos. Not at all. This was 3 cups, one with amazing red pepper hummus, one with queso spinach dip, and the third with a "country caviar" which was a thick salsa type mix of corn, beans, tomato and cilantro. SO GOOD. All of this came with a generous mix of pita and tortilla. For entrees we got the chicken salad sandwich and cheesy bread. The chicken wasn't diced well, making this very difficult to eat as a sandwich with 4" pieces of chicken, but had great seasoning. The cheesy bread was SO good. They have an amazing menu and amazing food. If they were open when they said they would be, I'd give 5 stars. read more
