Still love their cheesesteak & recommended anyone who craves a big cheesesteak hoagie stop here to get one. They are now only open Thursday-Sunday 4pm-9pm. They do have TV's with sports & a pool table. They have redone the outside & re-painted the inside...disappointed they took down all their funny signage inside...I guess to make it tidier & less "divey" but that was part of the charm. They also now have an IPAs on tap, so I'm guessing they're trying to draw more people in this way. The garlic parm wings were good, but not quite as crispy or good as prior visits. Staying up the road for the weekend. We were starving and decided to give it a shot. We sat at the bar and Sue was our bartender- excellent service and very friendly. Shrimp jammers were yum- came with cocktail sauce but I recommend asking for the ranch sauce. We also had medium buffalo wings. They came out nice and crispy. Next up was the cheese steak- it did not disappoint and the roll was nice and soft. Lastly, the crab cake. Went out on a limb getting a crab cake this far north and west. Sue talked us into it and we were glad. This is not a fancy place. It's simple. Come here for friendly atmosphere and a decent meal. read more

My family and I went on vacation to Deep Creek Lake. We were hungry for a good burger and fries. Well that is exactly what we got. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was delicious. We also had wings, onion rings, fries, and Italian sub. All were delicious. We will definitely be back again when we vacation here next time. read more

We visited deep creek for our anniversary and on our last night we wanted a quick but good dinner to take back to our rental. We found JGs pub and thought a cheesesteak sounded good. When we arrived they were a little busy and we placed the to go order and sat in the back by the pool table. A decent amount of time passed by and we checked to make sure we didn't miss someone calling our name. A couple that was playing pool asked us where we were from and let us know that the owners husband had passed so it may be a little bit of a wait but that it would be the best cheesesteak we ever had. They weren't wrong! Definitely in my top 3 for sure. It was big and the steak wasn't all your typical shredded thin meat but some thicker pieces. Everyone was very nice and we got to find out a bit about local life in deep creek area while we waited. Definitely recommend! read more

This place blew me away! Had low expectations, but wow--fairly reasonable prices (relative to expensive Oakland tourist traps), and their food was FRESH and large portions. My favorites were the buffalo chicken salad and the crispy chicken wings; I liked the cheesesteak hoagie as well but that cooled down quickly before I got a chance to eat it. Their crab cake salad was yummy as well. Would definitely recommend stopping by here and ordering their chicken-based items. read more

This place was pretty awesome. We felt welcomed immediately as the server acknowledged us as soon as we entered and got us seated right away. We had some wings as an appetizer and their famous steak and cheese with fries as our meal. The steak and cheese meal was enough for me and my fiancé to share and be full. The wings were good. Your typical bar wings. The steak and cheese was delicious!!! Very generous portion per the price charged and loaded with good ok' gooey cheese; just how I like it!!! Lol! In town for a long weekend and checked out Yelp to see what was close by and had solid reviews. Got there right around 6:00 and was surprised to see a good crowd. After a few beers and a short wait, we saw a lot of good looking food coming out of the kitchen. We had a group of 6 and sat at a spacious table in the corner. The food was great! Subs were packed and everything seemed very fresh. Had an amazing waitress (Shelly) that made us feel like locals and made great recommendations. We have added it to our list to return next time we're up there. If you're in the area, this place is worth a stop. Cold beer, great service and really good food. read more

Didn't even get in the door to try the food that looked and sounded so good. We had a group of 6 and showed up unknowing of whether or not it would be packed or not - it seemed like it based on parking. We tried to take a peek inside to see if there were tables (trying to gage if we'd need a backup plan or not). My friend and I went in together and a sweet customer was trying to offer us their table because they were leaving. A female server came over and said "No sir we have a wait list" and then looked at my friends and said "You're not stars". I'm pretty sure she intended for it to be under her breath, but it wasn't. We never acted like we were and nor did we expect to get a special privilege. We were just trying to see if there was space for our group or if it was too packed to wait. The attitude of the red headed server was a complete deterrent for us to actually wait and try the place out. As someone from out of town, this was one place i was interested in trying because the pictures and good sounded amazing. Extremely disappointed that we were treated this way. read more

We love this bar/restaurant! The servers are friendly and efficient! And the food is tremendous!!!! You can tell it's home cooked and they take pride in what they give you. Sometimes it's packed and sometimes it's not but either way you get the same service and the same quality. Skip this place. It looks shady from the outside. Sort of a biker bar feel. We read the reviews and decided to give it a try, despite the unwelcoming exterior. When we walked in, no staff came over to greet us. After several minutes, we approached someone behind the bar and asked about getting a table. She looked annoyed and bothered by the question. She said "it will be a long wait." We took the hint and left. Here's a sense of the flavor of the joint: the biggest sign when you walk in -- directly in front of you as you walk in -- says "like a toilet, we can only serve one a**hole at a time." Except the sign spells it out. This place needs new owners and an attitude adjustment. Try the Black Bear down the road for a similar type bar/grill without the hostility. read more

Visited deep creek for years but never been until tonight Came in with my wife. Very safe Covid 19 protocols and spacing. Food was delicious!! We had the cheesesteak, Mac and cheese bites and a Maryland crab veggies soup and it was great! This is a great place to hang and have a few beers and some pub food. Great steak and cheese sub - huge and tasty. I've been fortunate enough to have been at the lake the last 2 St. Patty's Days and their dinner special that day is awesome! Corned beef and cabbage and potatoes or a Rueben. Very tasty. Prices are great and service is pretty good. They could use a couple big screen TVs though. The one over the fire place is going bad and they have a couple other tube TVs from the 80s I think. This was a plan b restaurant. We passed it on our way to our plan a restaurant, but plan a restaurant is no longer in business. We were very happy with Plan B! Once we got the waitress to our table, she was delightful. The food was quite good. We got a pizza, which at its base price was not too expensive. However, each additional topping is two dollars more, so a three topping medium pizza ended up being about $20. It was a little pricier than I would've liked, but it was very tasty. The crust was solid, yet tasted very light and airy. The crab cake in this little hole in the wall pub, however, was fantastic. There was not much filler, and it was broiled perfectly. I opted for a side of fries instead of the chips that come with the crab cake. The fries were nice and crispy, and seasoned well, but they were a five dollar up charge, which seemed a bit high. I give the food in this establishment high marks. I give the service in this establishment very high marks, as the waitress was very interactive, sassy and funny. The price however was much higher than I was expecting it to be. The place does not look like much from the outside, kind a like a roadhouse the dive bar, but the inside is quite charming. read more

JG's is a place for awesome food and good fun. The Cheesesteak sub is by far one of the best I have ever had, and also one of the largest! This sub comes over stuffed with steak, grilled onions, grilled peppers (green, sweet, and hot), mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and topped with melted provolone cheese. Or you can get it with just the steak and cheese! The wings are superb! The Maryland Crab Cakes and Crab Soup are AMAZING!!!! The Friday and Saturday night dinner specials are always homemade delicious goodness. They have recently added two new flat screen TV's. read more

This place isn't a pub. It's a bar. A bit of a divey one at that. Not that there's anything wrong with divey bars but this is more of a place you go to for a beer at the bar and then maybe order some food if you get hungry, not a place you go for the food. Sometimes little divey bars are hidden gems with fantastic burgers, this place is not one of them. Service was super prompt and very friendly. Came into the restaurant on Friday night around 8. It was pretty full, it is seat yourself which we found out by asking a patron as no one spoke to us and there were no signs. We were lucky to find a 4 top. We got wings and brews. They had Sam Adams seasonal on tap so that was good. The wings were soooo good! We got mild and old bay. Both were delish! Casual and Good! Friendly service. We stopped in on a Friday night at the end of October. The pub was about half full, we seated ourselves and were greeted promptly. The menu was very much like a typical pub menu with all the offerings you might expect. Our server mentioned the nightly special " an Italian casserole",my wife ordered it. It contained meatballs, Italian sausage, peppers, onions, pepperoni, zucchini in a marinara sauce. She thought it was very good. I ordered the cheese steak wedge after reading the prior reviews. It was just as advertised. It was fully loaded with tender steak, sweet peppers and onions, mushrooms. Topped with cheese, lettuce and jalapeños if you so desired. I could not finish it. It really is big enough to share. Pint of draft was $2.20, house wine $3.47, fair enough. We would certainly return! read more

4* for their cheese-steak sandwich & BBQ pulled pork, which is all I had tried. 3.5* overall rating for food/service/cleanliness/atmosphere/parking....mainly due to being overlooked upon arrival unless you're a local. The 'TV issue' previously posted seemed to be fixed, flat screen over fireplace seemed good! The cheese-steak sandy is as good as everyone here says, we tried it based on Yelp & were not disappointed. Place has an old ski lodge feel, relaxing & fairly quiet unless the place is really packed. Do not come in expecting to be greeted & seated, so unless you seat yourself you'll be standing at the entry waiting to be greeted till the end of time. Just roll in & grab any empty table or bar stool, food can be had sitting at the bar. Drinks are very reasonable priced at $3.67/ea (beer/mixed). The steak sandwich is very good value for the price, packed with thinly sliced melt-in-your-mouth steak & all the fixins if you want (onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc) & covered with melted cheese, then the good soft canoe-hogie-bread is lightly heated but does not crack & literally hugs the sandwich with love & keeps all the fixins IN the sandwich. Upon cutting the sandwich in half, my knife went thru it like butter & I knew the steak was gonna be tender. We've been back for their famous cheese-steak multiple times & its a winner every time! They had no problem substituting cole slaw for a nice sized dinner side salad for me. Warning: don't get in the 1 waitresses way upon entering the lodge, she's 'coming thru' believe me you me, & she has no problem announcing that fact. Eat here! it is that simple. Cheesesteaks to die for, the best and almost only crab cake in the county. Crab soup that taste like I am at the shore. Steaks are tender and juicy. Wings are hot and crispy. In short you can't go wrong here. The beer is fair priced and is of a good selection. The service is good too. The owners , Kate and Fred, are part of the experience and make sure you have a good time. If you are feeling crazy and have a DD, try some of the house made Freddy Juice. read more
