The hostess was far from welcoming and acted like we were bothering her but the rest of the service we had was good and the menu was great with a lot of fun pizza choices. Their selection of their beer was a bit disappointing with most of the choices being IPAs which we don't like. They did offer beers from other breweries but when going to a brewery we like to try the beer they make. They had some fun sounding cocktails and they offered wines as well. Nothing local which was again disappointing. Our party of 5 ordered the beer cheese pretzels, the cheeseburger pizza and the Firefly pizza and we ate on the patio which was very full on the pretty sunny day we were there. They are dog friendly and there were a few dogs there. The food was good and the views were nice. I would probably return and try different items on the menu. read more

Even if the area had more options for food and drink, I would recommend checking this place out. My wife and I went three times in our short stay in Thomas, once for food and two more times for a couple of beers. The servers were great every time, professional but friendly, attentive and helpful. We had a salad and a pepperoni pizza, and both were tasty. They salad came in a plastic box, but it was fresh. We finished the salad there and had some leftover pizza to take with us. The beers we tried were wonderful. My only gripe--but it's a big one--is that there were no prices on the menu. There was a QR code to scan for prices, but it had been crossed out. We asked our server if there was a way to find out how much the food was before we ordered, and she could only give us a price range for the salads and the pizzas. We went with it, and the prices were fine. We found a website later, but the prices did not match up. I get that prices fluctuate, especially these days, but it's odd to order without knowing them. Maybe the locals and the tourists are charged different prices? There's no way to tell. Will the pepperoni pizza turn out to be $75? Maybe, there's no way to tell. It adds an unnecessary layer of uncertainty to a simple pizza-and-beer meal that I would rather avoid. I would recommend to the owner that they figure out some way to indicate prices. So it is still worth stopping and trying it, but beware that you may not be able to find out how much they are going to charge you until you order and can look at the tab. read more

Deliciousness - 3.5/5 Happiness - 4/5 This is definitely a place to visit if you find yourself in this neck of the woods (literally). Located in a spacious building, this small brewery packs a punch. The free foosball table was nice too. There were only a (pretty small) selection of 5 beers when we went, although they sell a very generous beer flight (with a couple of double tastes built in). By far, my favorite was their oatmeal stout, one of the most delicious I've had. They have a decent scotch selection for a great price - I'd come back just to sip the scotch. They also have some fun, unique cocktails that a few in my party liked. I also found the bartender and kitchen staff very nice. The food doesn't match up to the drinks, thus the 4 star instead of 5. The pizza crust is too thin, especially considering they load it up with a ton of cheese. I also ordered a meatball sub and it was not very good. The meatballs weren't moist and had a strange tangy taste, and the chipotle sauce I added on was a bit unpleasant. We did however also order some yummy poke cake (nicely balancing sweetness and tartness) and a wonderfully delicious s'mores pizza (with nutella) . So I recommend just sticking with dessert to go along with your beer. read more

Their Almost Heaven Amber Ale, Cold Trail Ale, and Miner's Daughter Oatmeal Stout are definitely my favorites! They are perfect after a great day of hiking, mountain biking, or skiing nearby. I was visiting Blackwater Falls for the weekend for a friend's bachelorette, and we decided to grab dinner here on a Friday night. Admittedly, the restaurant/bar isn't much to look at but the beers were great and the pizza was fantastic! Between our group of 10 we probably tried every beer on draft and everyone seemed happy with their drinks. The IPA was solid and the pumpkin beer was on the spicier side rather than sweet, which I prefer. The real standout was the buffalo chicken pizza - ORDER THIS. The base tasted like pure buffalo chicken dip! Definitely the best buffalo chicken pizza I have ever had in my life. All in all, it's an excellent option in an area that doesn't have much! read more

This place has the BEST hummus. When it arrived at our table we didn't have high expectations but it was amazing. I'm ruined for life. We were also told when we picked up our food to add some red pepper flakes to the hummus. That was a great tip. I'll be adding them to hummus from now on. I enjoyed the Cold Trail Blonde Ale. Pizza was delicious! Atmosphere was warm and cozy. The bartending staff were lazy and not helpful. The bar is about 20 feet long and there were 6 people in the bar. The customers had to leave there bar stool and walk to the register to order another drink as the bartenders were just standing there talking. This happened all night. The OG mountain state brewing company! We stopped at Iron Horse Tavern in Morgantown, fell in love with the beer, and somehow ended up staying in the same town as MSBC! How lucky is that? The beer here is FANTASTIC. It's also $4 a pint. The bartender, Holly, was awesome. She gave us samples, and was very attentive. The space is warm and cozy with a fireplace, and would definitely be my hang out if I lived around here. The patrons were all very friendly, we talked to everyone the whole time we were there. Luckily for us "playing for pennies" preformed that evening, which was a free show with no cover. They were UNREAL! They played 6-8. They have "bar food" actual bar food, because the bar tenders make it at the bar themselves. We had dill dip, which was very basic but really hit the spot. Unfortunately we had already purchased tickets ($10 each) to see a show at the purple fiddle down the road- so we had to leave early. We were both bummed, because we could have stayed here all night! I ordered two beers at the bar when i got there, went to my table and hung out, then when i went back to the bar to order my drinks, i sat in a seat for 15 minutes with my cash, and then was told i had to get in the line of people just getting there to order a beer... even though i watched other people that were sitting at the bar getting served. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Another customer also said "you'll get served depending on who you are." If you don't want people from out of town to come visit and drink, make that known. read more

Nice little place in a small town. We were here on St. Paddy's Day and it was pretty much the only place in town that even acknowledged the day even though they still were closed by 8. They had drink specials and the bartender was clad in green and beads. Everyone in the bar was real friendly. We talked with a couple of local people, had a couple of shots, and even sang a St. Paddy's Day cheer with a local pastor. We sat by the fireplace, which was nice after a long day of hiking in the cold. They have board games you can play as well as little brain teaser games at the bar. The night before they had a band play too. The food is pretty much just snacky bar food. We had some pepperoni rolls and chips. The pepperoni rolls were just heated up in the microwave, but tasted fairly fresh. Everything was inexpensive, which was nice. This place is great! I was in the area for a wedding and had to stop by. I love the atmosphere and decor of the place. Staff was very friendly and helpful going into full detail of each beer and appeared to have a lot of knowledge and appreciation for craft beer. My personal favorite was the Almost Heaven Amber Ale. They have a flight of 8 - 5oz samples for only $6 which is a steal! I bought one of their many t-shirts and bought a 12 pack of Almost Heaven at a local gas station to bring home. So what's my beef right? It would be the drunken locals who have apparently never seen an attractive female in their lives. Got the information that one of the guys was an off duty bartender there. Guys if your girl is on the hot side, don't go here. They won't stop staring and snickering like school children. We went into the other room away from the bar and set her with her back towards them. It didn't stop them. They still just kept walking by staring into look at the back of her head I guess. Had to use the restroom at the end of the night. Had to walk past them all. Got a nice stair down from each. Then with the paper thin door got to hear all kinds of colorful conversation of what they thought of me and what they would do to her. Mountain State Brewery beer is served in locations around West Virgina and is great. The Seneca IPA and Cold Trail Ale are personal favorites But what a treat it was to go to this Thomas brew-pub for some live music and burgers on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is "mountain" with wood and stone decor. The area the band was playing had big barn doors the opening to an area of picnic tables and a corncobs court. Open only on weekends, there is no false pretense here. It is good beer served in mason jars with only hamburgers and hand cut organic fries on the menu. There was a $5 cover the night I was there, and they had a full bar. If you are in the area on the weekend, you need to check it out. Pretty much everyone else will b e there! read more
