First time here and we were all impressed. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. They have a lot of chatzkis and what not on the wall that gives it character. There were several tables seated when we were there... it was (too) quiet at first, but thankfully music was turned on. The server was very friendly and prompt. Offered refills and was always available. The food was very good! We got the totchoes (great), chicken drumsticks (good and a nice crunch), sweet pepper slaw (really good), and the peanut butter and jelly burger. The flavor combinations were great... I wish the burger would have been juicier. Also had a beer flight - I enjoyed them all... lots of flavor and all very smooth. We are looking forward to going back.

Fox Hops is one of the newest most unique places in Elkins. Started by West Virginia's first female brewmaster, Sam Fox, her beers and food are a uniquely Appalachian experience. Inside you are surrounded by family trinkets and treasures curated by other local artists that fit a very foxy Appalachian theme. Each item gives you a glimpse into the Fox family - fun, talented, artistic, mountain men and women to be proud of. And the food - for locals the team at Fox Hops has somehow managed to create selections that take transport you to local times and places via your tastebuds. IE The carnival is exactly what you want if you just need a little Mountain State Forest Festival flavor mid-year. PS - Do yourself a favor and try their unique PBJ (peanut butter/bacon/jalapeño) Burger! Idk what else comes in it, but it's good.

It's so nice to see this place open. Always nice to have more options to hang out in Elkins and they have both beet AND a kitchen! We just ordered appetizers and I lived on french fry nachos but they were truly delicious. The restaurant is cutely decorated and service was solid. Parking is a little awkward, but it's nice to see development expanding outside of downtown.

We arrived mid-day, during the week, to an empty brewery, and were very warmly welcomed by amazing staff- the bartender spent a great deal of time with us, allowing samples & talking beer, to ensure we found our ideal pours. She even gave us some 'off list' brews from a can she had opened for herself haha-so we could experience a wider range- and oh boy glad she did because I instantly added the off-list brew to my to-go cart! Overall, we sampled a number of the IPAs & dark beers (schwarz & porters)- drank 4 beers off draft, took 2 packs home- all had high star ratings based on their unique distinguishable flavors. Heavy Handed (creamy dreamy delicious w.heavy backend 4star) Weapons Free (creamy haze; hop cloud 4star) Druid Fluid (dried fruit citra haze pop 3.5star) Wizard Dreams (creamy, but not enough pop flavor 3star) Tad Nugent (perfect hazy floral nose, creamy hops 4star) Coal Train (subtle chocolate richness 4star) Ludicrous Speed (dark coffee chocolate nibs roasted 3.5star) Boof Stroke (impressive delicious citra for how light-boldest flavor profile 5star) Hanging out on the patio picnic table area to relax it was a great night out- really appreciated the venue, wished we lived closer to re-stock up- definitely going to have to keep an ear out for when we know people visiting and put in to-go requests haha!

Old Spruce is the kind of place where people gather all day to hang out, grab a drink, and enjoy good food in a relaxed setting. After a full day on the slopes, it was exactly what we needed. We ordered the veggie tacos, tuna nachos, and the Asian tuna salad. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find food of this quality at a brewery. The nachos were flavorful, crunchy, and had just the right kick of spice. But the tuna -- that was the real standout. I know they say not to eat seafood far from the coast, but this completely defied that rule. It practically melted in your mouth and was perfectly seasoned. The veggie tacos were also excellent -- so hearty and well-balanced that you could almost mistake them for having meat. The staff gave off that "everybody knows your name" vibe -- very local, welcoming, and family-oriented. It made the whole experience feel warm and authentic. If you've been skiing all day and want a laid-back place to relax, eat great food, and enjoy a cozy mountain atmosphere, Old Spruce is absolutely worth a visit.

The Neon Gardens sours were the highlight of the flight. Both the Watermelon Prickly Pear and Pineapple Coconut were amazing. Our other two beer choices in the flight were solid too (Red Ale and Helles Lager). Typically cheesecake wouldn't be a go to choice with a flight of beer, but I'm not sad that we ordered it. It was so good! My only suggestion: I wish the sours were in four packs. I would have loved to have purchased some to take back to Northern Virginia to share with friends.
