I was in the mountains recently installing a mini-split system at a friend's cabin and on the way back he asked me if I'd like to stop in Elkins and get some food, his treat. So I picked this place. I had been here a couple times before but it had been years ago yet I remembered it being really good and the atmosphere being very cool so we stopped in for a bite to eat before heading back home. We sat in the bar area and it happened to be a night where live music was being played and that was an added bonus. I can't remember the two guys group that was playing, but they were very good. My friend ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and I ordered the veggie wrap with fries. He is an old school Italian and he said the pasta and meatballs were very good. I ordered the veggie wrap and fries and it was incredible. I enjoyed each and every bite of it. I also ordered a Big Timber Blonde(2 since the wait was long) which always hits the spot. I will say that the food took forever to arrive. 45 minutes which is unacceptable, but the waitress was great and she kept telling us that she was so sorry and that they were short staffed. Needless to say if not for that this place easily gets five stars on this visit. The whole vibe of this place from inside to out is great and I look forward to stopping by again in the fall or winter months while exploring the leaves and/or the ski slopes in close proximity. Wife and I were in town for the festival we thought it started on Sat but ended up it really didn't start until Sun. So we walked around town and in most of the store front there were dresses and gowns of the girls that won each year. So we just wanted something light we decided to give this place a try, we sat at the bar. Which has a really nice brass rail around the bar, the bar is really large. I just had mellow yellow and wife had tea, and for food we shared the chicken tenders and onion petals they called them onion slices. The order came out and it was just frozen chicken tenders and from the look of the onion petals they were frozen also. We didn't get to see any other meals people had everyone sitting at the bar wasn't eating. They should be making their own chicken fingers so much better tasting and the price cost they would save so much money and on top of that they would sell so much more, they could do the same with the onions. If ever back in town we would stop in and give it a try. The building is very old if only the walls could talk or show a video of back in time. read more

Great local tavern We were passing through Elkins and Yelp suggested Beanders as "where the locals eat." From what we could see that was true, and we now know why. It's a charming, old-school tavern with lots of tables and wood-paneled walls. We sat at the bar and the service was quick and friendly. There is a good selection of local/national-chain beers on offer, and my companion found a wine she liked. She had chili and a side salad, and I opted for a veggie pita with homemade chips. The food was all well and locally prepared and very tasty. The prices were moderate, and we'd happily dine there again. read more

This is a fun, local spot that I stumbled upon when I was traveling to New River Gorge. The bartenders were very friendly and made great drinks. Their drink menu has a lot of character, as does the bar itself. Options are limited in this part of WV but even if it were in an area with a lot of option, I'd choose this place. read more

Consistent and well-executed bar food in Elkins downtown. There isn't anything over the top in the menu, but Beanders does a really nice job with the classics. Their fries have a dusting of flour (so not Gluten free friendly) but they are light and crisp. Their buffalo chicken sandwich is heavenly with a perfect mix of spice, tart and dressing to cool it down. I'm taking off a star because service is often slow (but always friendly!). It's not a place to get in and out quickly, but a place to hang around for a while. read more

We went on Tuesday night, it was 'all you can eat spaghetti & meatballs for $6.00'. Unbelievable. My wife and I had the pasta and it was delicious and substantial. I was full after 1 plate. We also had a 16oz craft beer and a glass of wine. The total cost (less tip) was $20.01 The service was outstanding. The bar / restaurant had an awesome ambiance unless you dislike stuffed animals and heads (my wife & I do not). Recommend this place even if you do not get the specials. read more

A coworker and I had a late lunch at Beanders yesterday afternoon. The server was very friendly. The two meals were both great. My coworker said his sandwich was very good and enjoyed the fries. I had the Yard Bird sandwich that was also very good. I wish it had been a bit lighter in the ranch and stronger in the ramps but still yet, very good. Both meals and drinks were about $37 (before tip) and well worth the visit. If and when I am ever back in Elkins again, Beanders would certainly be worth another try. read more

This place was recommended by the hotel staff where we were staying. Short walk for a late night bite. The waitress suggested their famous phillysteak and homemade chips. They were delicious! The service was lacking, the waiter got my order wrong, did not write anything down. I ordered Swiss and mushroom burger and their fresh potato chips and got fries instead. The burger had no flavor whatsoever but the fries were pretty good. My husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs and he said the sauce tasted more like V8 and the meatballs tasted pretty good. The bread pudding was good for dessert. It was our first time in this restaurant, not sure if we will go back. read more

We walked in seeing a sign stating seat yourself. It had a rustic feel with antler chandeliers and taxidermy lining the walls. We sat down and our server came over fairly quickly. We placed our order and waited 45 minutes for two chicken salads and a burger. Taking it easy seems to be the motto for this part of the historic district so I'm glad we weren't in a huge rush. Beander's is just a great local restaurant and tavern. Its full of locals and its where you can get a good meal for a great price. Priced well. I love the chicken pita. Everything is fresh and fun. This establishment was recommended by one of the Davis & Elkins students for good, quick food with a decent atmosphere. It didn't disappoint. Was here 8/30/19. Came in after walking out of another local restaurant due to it being filthy. We ordered a drink and a few appetizers. Received food and the potato skins were cold. I asked the waitress to please bring us hot ones. Before this I had cut one of them up to see if they would "nuke" them or make fresh. She brings it back.... cheese added on top of the cut up one to make it look as though it was put together and re-heated. The service was great, but the food was a little less than decent. The prices are low, but you are sacrificing good taste in exchange for a cheap bill. The fried pickles were pretty good but my sandwich wasn't. The "Texas Toast" was dried out and stale tasting and the cheese was clearly Kraft Singles. My boyfriend's pulled pork was average, but he's had much better. It was served to him lukewarm.The fries were soggy and undercooked. It's been a while since we've been here but we used to frequent every week for wing night. I always got cheese fries and fried pickles since I'm not a fan of wings and their fried pickles are really good.
