To b honest, it was ok. Two very large, broken half barrels with no flowers as you approach doesn't help. My wife and I both ordered 10 oz Delmonico steaks. They had a good flavor but nothing special. The waitress was the same way, nothing special. My baked potato I ordered loaded consisted of butter, sour cream , and imitation bacon bits. No chives or onions. It was very good though. Best thing in the plate. They don't offer a Caesar salad which was disappointing and the house salad was very small. The ranch dressing was very nice. Bathrooms are nice. Parking is very good. Overall like I said, it was ok. read more

My kids really enjoyed their food here. One of them had the marinated chicken breast (Italian) and the other had their 1/4lb cheeseburger. My wife and I both got the steak hoagie. She also had onion rings with here. Both of the kids ordered fries. I lobe to give business to local shops but I will never be going back to this location again. The meal I described cost is $50.00. It was nothing more than stuff that I could simply make at home and make it a lot better. Be careful when you order their fries. It is a very large helping but that are homemade there on site and are somehow soggy yet burnt. I wish it would have been a good place to it but I just can't recommend it. After reading several mixed reviews of this place, I still decided to try it out. I travel throughout the country and currently reside in a much larger city. With that, comes more food options and top end restaurants. I can honestly say, Dukes food was excellent for a small town. I ordered a filet and it was cooked exactly the way I asked (medium rare). I thought the quality of the meat was good. I also ordered a baked potato w/ butter, house salad w/ homemade blue cheese butter, as well as homemade potato soup. I thought everything was excellent. Don't come to a town like this looking for Capital Grille or Ruth Chris style quality, but Dukes is one of the better hometown restaurant I've eaten at! read more

We have eaten at Duke's twice. Both times the food and service were exceptional. For the cost of a meal at a chain steak restaurant you can enjoy a true dining experience. The lady at the Train Depot recommended Dukes Steakhouse for dinner after we came back from the Salamander Train Ride in Elkins. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our Waitress was Super! Brought my family here last night because we heard the steaks are so good but was very disappointed in our meals. We had the ribeye or as they call it "delmonico" 10oz for $16 and not only did my wallet hurt but so did my teeth from trying to chew up my steak! :( it was basically the thin sliced steaks that you buy for $5 at the grocery store. My son had the chopped steak which was a hamburger patty with burnt steak fries and my daughter had corn dogs with burnt French fries that wasn't edible. My steak, the 10 oz Delmonico ribeye was more rare than medium-rare and terribly difficult to cut both because of its sinewy nature and the flimsy steak knife provided with the meal. Chewing was not too hard, though the meat was rather rubbery. The meat was completely unseasoned. Apparently, all steaks are unseasoned unless the diner requests otherwise. Dukes has been in business for decades. It is really known for its steaks and steak sandwiches. Dukes has been in several locations through its history and recently moved again. My wife and I gave Dukes a try while visiting family. First visit in 5 years or so. The food has the same consistency it had 5, 10 and 15 years ago. The food was very good and the portion was generous. The service was a tad slow, but it was a packed house. Being from a small town in Wv me and my wife decided to try this place. Menu looked good and decided to try the 24 ounce steak to share between us. While sitting waiting on our food we realized there was mold in the mustard container at the table. This should've been our fist indication to leave but decided to give it a go with the steak. My wife ordered mushrooms for her portion of the sides. The mushrooms clearly had hair in them. At that point we decided we were done. Dukes is t-shirt casual. Not long on atmosphere. But we both had fantastic perfectly cooked filets with good baked potato. Came with salad and canned green beans, which i just don't get...how hard would it be to serve a fresh veggie? Service was good enough. Deserts were very good, try the molten carrot cake. One star for the service. She was decent. Was seated quickly and order was taken in a timely manner. Noticed as we were walking to our table that most of the diners were eating hamburgers. Ordered the "sirloin for two". Salad was ample-just lettuce, tomato and cucumber with the dressing on the side. The size of the steak did not make up for what it was lacking. It was tough, a lot of gristle, no flavor. The corn looked like it was left over from a day or two before. The garlic bread (?) was lightly browned, but greasy. Cut off the worst of the steak, brought the rest home, but couldn't improve it by saute'ing it with butter and onion. Heard another couple complaining about their steak and they had it taken off their bill. We should have complained, but didn't. We'll never go back. read more

The only nice thing to say was the staff was nice. When we first walked in the place is just a open room so the sound was so loud. I couldn't even hear my husband talk to me. We get seated and the menu looked pretty nice. It had a good selection of food. I ordered the Rib-eye steak medium which came with a baked potato & salad. My husband ordered a dish with cod. I don't remember exactly what it was called but it did come with vegetables & a salad. Our food comes out and oh man what a train wreck. I cut into my steak & it was over done. They cooked the steak in a regular pan. There was no char or grill marks nothing. It was just brown meat. There was no seasoning on the meat at all. It was the worst steak I have ate before. I left over half on the plate to throw away I switch to my potato which I found something hard. We passed it off as the skin of the potato. I paid an additional 2.00 for bacon & cheese for my potato & they came out with bacon bites you find at Kroger. They were so nasty. The salad with just 2 or 3 pieces of lettuce with one cube of tomato & 1 slice of a carrot. The salad was the best part of the dish. My husband fish little a little scary. Normally cod is in a fillet but these were curled up 3 inch strips of "cod" He didn't even finish is meal because of how nasty it was. The waitress asked how our meal was and I said eeh not so great and she just walked away & handed us the check. This was by far the worst place we have ate at of all time. I ordered the special sirloin for one, thinking a sirloin would be safe enough since it was my first time there. Got a salad-good plain-ranch dressing tasted homemade. Got a side of cottage cheese with a slice of pineapple which turned out to be the star of my dinner. The steak came out next, large portion, good looks good very excited! Didn't even put any A1 on because looked tasty! Nope no flavor, not even salt or pepper. Tasted like some cheap old flat breakfast meat! Tried to put some seasoning "salt" and A-1. Nope I couldn't even eat three bites, and I'm a meat eater!! The mushrooms and side of green beans were out of a can. Bland no seasoning! Really, how can you call yourself a steakhouse when you are serving out of a can. Oh, how could I forget my side of garlic bread which was the top of a store hoagie roll with the sesame seeds. Not a great dinner for anyone in our party. The wedge salad was ample, but completely smothered in dressing. I ordered wings as a meal and they were hit to the touch on the outside, but the bone was ice cold. Others in my party that ordered the Delmonica steak were very disappointed from what was supposed to be a steak house. I was told by a waitress at another restaurant that the specialty at Dukes was their filet mignon, so maybe that's what we should have ordered. I won't be going back unfortunately. read more
