"Whiskey, Wings, and Pool Sharks: A Local Survival Guide"…read more If you find yourself in Elkins craving good food, cold drinks, and a side of character, roll on down to Whiskey River. The place is pure West Virginia charm with just the right mix of country grit and friendly mischief. The food? Fantastic. The wings are sauced like somebody back there actually cares, and the burgers taste like they've seen a grill before, not a microwave. But be warned: the real action happens at the pool tables. You might think, "I'll shoot a quick game while I wait on my fries." Next thing you know, you're three games deep against a guy named Buck who swears he's "rusty" but just ran the table faster than you can say cue ball. That's when you realize the fries were ready 20 minutes ago -- and you've just been hustled out of your dignity (and maybe a round of shots). Pro tip: If someone offers to "let you break," kindly decline and protect your pride. Order another beer, tip the bartender, and enjoy the show -- because watching the locals play pool here is better entertainment than half the stuff on TV. Whiskey River is one of those rare places where the food's hot, the folks are real, and the laughter's louder than the jukebox. Just remember: eat first, then play pool. You'll thank me later.

I'd summarize Jimbo's menu as burgers, wings, and other chicken items. The menu isn't huge, but Jimbo's does they do WELL. I had a crispy chicken wrap and "chicken logs" (basically fried chicken bits in an egg roll wrap) and both were excellent. Prices for food and drink were reasonable. The draft list is decent with a mix of domestics and a few crafts from the local brewery. Service at the bar was top notch, atmosphere was great, and fellow patrons were most welcoming to a couple of out-of-towners. I will definitely be back!

We were there on a Friday night for two hours, and there was maybe four tables there the whole time we were there service isn't bad. They're just very slow. The pulled pork eggrolls were very tasty. The house made, honey mustard for dipping was the best part. The $6 bread service, which is four tiny pieces of dried out focaccia and a DIY olive oil basic dipping experience was not worth it. Defiantly pass. We had two bakers at the table and everyone agreed it wasn't well made focaccia. The house salad is beautiful. It had red peppers in it which was a nice take, and everything in it felt very fresh. The house made ranch was delicious. My ribeye was cooked to the temp I requested but it should come with some sort of sauce or garnish. Instead of having classic mashed potatoes on the menu, they have some sort of potato purée. I was not the only one that got it with their meal one complained it was too salty, I thought it was too sweet. all around, It seemed like it's over reaching to be fancy when your guest would prefer a classic mash. I did not taste the desert (I believe it was an apple strudel cheesecake ) but I was told it was good None of us drank, but there were good beer and cocktail options. I would go again if I were trying to stay in Elkins, but options in Elkins are very limited and this was definitely better than most of the other options in the area.
