Decent beer list. Poke bowl was good. Service was good, but short staffed, staff is exhausted from a packed venue with demanding city folk. They did their best, I could tell. Music Friday night was fantastic, no cover. I'd definitely go back. Great people watching too. Highly recommended.

Good grub, nice environment, but slightly understaffed. I believe I heard one of the staff members asking if they should call another one in, so it might've been a busier morning than usual. What we got: Huevos rancheros - 3.5* for me, 5* for my partner. It had great flavor, I just am not a big fan of the dish in general. My partner, on the other hand, loved it and thought the salsa was amazing. Pancakes - 4* fluffy and fantastic taste. The syrup was also a higher quality store bought kind, not the syrupy sweet cheap kind. John's Hangover Sandwich (on an English muffin) - 3.5* if I wasn't getting the side of biscuits and gravy I would've gotten this on a biscuit. The English muffin was good, but the biscuit would've been even better! The sandwich is basically the bread, an omelet (with a cheesy center), and a breakfast sausage. Good, hearty, but nothing amazing. Side of biscuits and sausage gravy - 4* the biscuits are fantastic and the gravy has a wonderful flavor. I like how they offer it as a side as well as I didn't want it to be my full meal. That said, I probably would've been just fine with this dish being my full meal, it was pretty large! Orange juice - 3* nothing special, I'm almost positive it's a bottled orange juice.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our travels and it was just as the stars say - ok. We had a young server that encouraged us to indulge in their mimosas, and we did *pictured*. And honestly, it was probably the best part of the dining experience. For the crowd amount that they seem to get, this location seems slightly small. Cramped almost. I was actually surprised that we did not have to wait when we first arrived, but honestly - I'm not sure if the food was worth waiting for anyway. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I see lots of comments raving about their pancakes. I think I would return if I was back in the Davis area, and more than likely I'd try something else - with the mimosas and gravy.

Not our first time at Milo's... It was good. The ambiance and atmosphere are quaint. They have done a major facelift to the bar area. I think instead of sitting in the dining room area I would request to be seated at the bar. Very welcoming! The food... 1. Chocolate chip pancake - FANTASTIC. We ordered one for the table of four and it was huge! Good amount of chocolate chips and the pancake was over an inch thick and really fluffy! Highly recommend. 3. Biscuits and Gravy - I didn't try, but two people said they were good. It's not the typically light colored gravy, but nonetheless they said it was good. 4. Breakfast specials (includes eggs, potatoes, a meat, and bread) - eggs were cooked perfect to order. The potatoes were OUT OF SIGHT - so much flavor. My one complaint - the breakfast sausage does not seem to be house-made. It looks just like a McDonalds sausage patty... and doesn't have a ton of flavor. I was bummed.

I got carried away and snarfled my food before I remembered to take a picture. ‍

Maybe the best huevos rancheros I've ever eaten. Sooo good, I 100% recommend it. My spouse enjoyed his skillet too, but this huevos rancheros is the star of the breakfast table! The ladies that were working were very sweet and friendly. We had breakfast included in our room rate, and we were very happy with the accommodations at Bright Morning Inn and especially the food at Milo's. Oh! There was also live music on Thursday night. A great surprise!

Looking at the reviews for Milo's only seems to show breakfast but the food at supper we got was amazing and deserves 10 stars not just 5. 4 of us for teriyaki chicken sandwiches, one poke bowl, crab cakes and a couple of burgers. Service was great and food came out a lot faster than expected.

Milo's was great! We had breakfast here two days in a row because there weren't too many other options but we're glad we did. We managed to walk in both days in a row and get seated, although the first day was at the bar. I had the huevos rancheros one day and the apple baked oatmeal the next, and also sampled my partner's biscuits and gravy. The huevos rancheros were decent for small town WV. The potatoes were well seasoned and it was the perfect size for breakfast. The apple baked oatmeal was also fantastic - I liked that it was only a touch sweet and served with yogurt. My partner's biscuits and gravy were very good. The gravy had lots of flavor and the biscuits were incredible too! We will definitely be back!

Quick service! Loved the vibe. Had a good vegan poke bowl with tofu. Staff seemed knowledgeable about diet preferences.

The town itself has that perfect mountain-arts vibe--historic brick buildings, quiet streets, and a steady flow of hikers, skiers, and road-trippers--and TipTop fits right into that rhythm. The shop is cozy and unpretentious, the kind of café where the warmth from the espresso machine and the conversations around the room cut through the mountain chill. It feels local in the best way--welcoming without trying too hard. But the real highlight is the coffee. The cup I had was excellent: clean, balanced, and clearly prepared by people who care about the craft. It had the kind of clarity and sweetness that stands out, especially when you're used to road-trip coffee stops that are just "good enough." This was genuinely memorable. If you're passing through the Canaan Valley / Blackwater Falls area or chasing powder at Timberline or Canaan Valley Resort, TipTop Coffee is absolutely worth the stop. It's proof that even in a small Appalachian ski town, you can still find a cup that would hold its own in much bigger coffee cities. A mountain gem.

Full disclosure, this place has broken my heart and as a patron that has spent well over $10k here in the last several years I'm at a loss for words. I met my partner at the Billy - yeah that still happens - and its gutting and egregious to see such feckless owners swoop into this lovely Appalachian business and run this with the care one would expect from a a Wayfair adorned short-term rental. Yes, the bones are still good here, but the superficial facade of community runs as deep as the chipping yellow paint on the "Billy Arrow" outside. The new Billy, in my deeply storied opinion on West Virginia history, sees right through the propped-up idea of "community" and it equates to the long history of outside interest here in the Mountain State that saw countless greedy men move in to extract and exploit the resources of the good people of Tucker County. The good people of West Virginia. I see it everyday and its no more true then than it is now with the Billy Motel and Ish Kitchen. You can almost smell the lack of community awareness and grasp with every high priced pour of el Toro cocktails. Its sickening to see my favorite establishment in this state now owned buy careless ownership that at one hand talk about community, but stab their "own" in the back. Its not community focused. Big time. One would think an owner in a town of 600ish with about 15-20 potential employees that would work service would respect the roots laid out by those here. Those that came before. But, I digress, because as the former states, its all about making as much money as one can and screwing over the locals when one does swoop in as an out of state interest. Its so, so sad. I will no longer be spending a dime here and have canceled all future bookings as I had planned about $2k worth of lodging this Spring through Fall for work and leisure that brings me here from Fayetteville all the time. I am not saying its a bad spot and the locals there are doing their best, but just know this place is coal-baron full on and if they care so much about the community they so share I would love to see them put their money where their mouth is. But, as a native West Virginian, and if you know anything about the state, we all know that will not happen. Montani Semper Liberi (for the DC/AZ folks, that means Mountaineers are Always free )

This place perfectly personifies the spirit of Thomas, WV, and maybe even a little bit of Davis mixed in there too. The building is historic with tons of character, located right at the end of the loop as if you can't exit town without paying homage. The inside has soooo much character and is decorated perfectly in a mad hatter style. We often stop here for ice cream during our wanderings of Wild Wonderful West Virginia but have been known to get food from time to time as well. I would say that everything is honestly priced. They aren't trying to get rich and they aren't trying to rip off the community, just serve it and make a living and keep the doors open. The food is on the cheaper side and the quality matches. I don't think they're after any Michelin stars but more interested in just feeding the people. Service is on par with the attitude of the building and blended well. Just enough at just the right time. You might have to swap a few chairs from one table to the next to find the right combination for your party as I think all of the chairs in there are different. They also serve the community by hosting music, up to 300 events per year according to their website. That's one of the only times I skipped the fiddle when I was passing through was when they had a band with a cover and we just wanted food. We wanted to sit down and eat but were told we had to pay if we stayed but could take the food to go or outside without the entrance fee. I think we just went over to Picnic instead which is also a great local spot! See you next summer fiddle!

The coleslaw was finely shredded, which was a pleasant surprise, and dressed in the regular mayo sauce. The tartar sauce was the only thing mediocre seeing as it wasn't that tangy or acidic, it was pickley, which I like pickles, but I want my tartar sauce not that pickley. Now, as for why I only give it two stars. I came in with a group of 12 for lunch at about 1. I know this can be a bit overwhelming, but I don't think they had properly trained for scenarios like this. We talked to a waitress/host and she had said that they are doing tables in sections, which we were like, "We understand and would be ok if you had to split us into two tables," but I just don't think she knew what to do. So, she asked her manager, I presume, and they ended up putting tables together to accommodate us, and turned it into a teaching moment saying, "Anyone can do this" in reference to putting available tables together to seat a large group such as ours. After we were seated and had gotten our menus we put our drink orders in, which came out within a fair amount of minutes. We put in our food orders about 5 minutes later. Nothing too customized, just normal cheese, no cheese, sub regular fries for sweet potato. She took our order and never came back to our table until the food came out. This was a good 50+ minutes. I understand food for a large group can have a long wait time, but part of the service industry is giving updates and refreshing drinks. Other tables had came and went during the time we were there, it was quite bothersome. We had someone go up and ask about our food since we were all hungry and a bit ticked off. Soon after that we got what we ordered. Well, mostly at least. One person had ordered the portobello sandwich and that comes with sweet potato fries according to the menu. They came with regular for her plate. Not that she complained, the regular turned out more crispy than the sweet potato. It would have been nice to know in advance that they would have to sub it if they had ran out of sweet potato fries however. We asked for refills and once we got them she brought ketchup, asked if we needed anything else, and left us alone again. Our server along with seeming new, also had a tired/I don't like my job vibe the whole time. At the end of our meal, we got the check with 18% gratuity already set as the tip since we had a large group. The food was good, but I don't think we'll be back for our next big family trip up here. It seemed like they did best with smaller groups 2-4. Just make note if you're coming up here with a large party.

The young lady who was working Thursday night (11/10/16), "Angel", was as sweet as can be. She welcomed us with a smile and gave us some tips on where to find some place to eat the next day. The next morning, my husband and I returned to the station to pick up some coffee and a quick breakfast. There was a young man behind the register and an older lady in the back by the coffee. Neither one of these employees made eye contact or smiled when we greeted them, but we felt their stares as we got coffee and sat down in a booth to eat a sandwich even though we asked if it was okay to sit down in the booth to eat. We left thinking, maybe they were upset they had to work on a holiday? We returned later that evening to buy some bottled water and another older gentleman was behind the register carrying on a conversation with a young lady about correctional officers in a women's prison who if I am not mistaken had exposed themselves to the female inmates. Whatever, none of my business... I got the merchandise I wanted to buy ready and placed it on the counter once the young lady had left and the counter was clear. I tried to make eye contact with the man at the register and said, "hello, how are you?" but he ignored me and instead rang me up complaining that his scanner would not work properly. As I paid him, again I smiled and tried to engage him but he avoided my efforts. Okay, so why should I care right? I guess where I come from people actually try to be nice if they work in customer service, so it was weird to be totally ignored. Hopefully, "Angel" can find a way to rub some of her pleasant personality off on her coworkers.... Sincerely, Happy to be back home in Virginia
