This is a nice clean, comfortable hotel with a funky vibe. You park outside your room. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is nice and the shower has good pressure. They give you ear plugs in the room but I never heard my neighbors. The front desk is in the bar area. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. Bonus that you get 2 free drink tokens during your stay. Enjoyed my Old Fashioned and dessert. I would stay here again on my visits to Davis. read more

THIS IS TRULY TRAGIC. Holy crap, the difference an owner can make here... Full disclosure, this place has broken my heart and as a patron that has spent well over $10k here in the last several years I'm at a loss for words. I met my partner at the Billy - yeah that still happens - and its gutting and egregious to see such feckless owners swoop into this lovely Appalachian business and run this with the care one would expect from a a Wayfair adorned short-term rental. Yes, the bones are still good here, but the superficial facade of community runs as deep as the chipping yellow paint on the "Billy Arrow" outside. The new Billy, in my deeply storied opinion on West Virginia history, sees right through the propped-up idea of "community" and it equates to the long history of outside interest here in the Mountain State that saw countless greedy men move in to extract and exploit the resources of the good people of Tucker County. The good people of West Virginia. I see it everyday and its no more true then than it is now with the Billy Motel and Ish Kitchen. You can almost smell the lack of community awareness and grasp with every high priced pour of el Toro cocktails. Its sickening to see my favorite establishment in this state now owned buy careless ownership that at one hand talk about community, but stab their "own" in the back. Its not community focused. Big time. One would think an owner in a town of 600ish with about 15-20 potential employees that would work service would respect the roots laid out by those here. Those that came before. But, I digress, because as the former states, its all about making as much money as one can and screwing over the locals when one does swoop in as an out of state interest. Its so, so sad. I will no longer be spending a dime here and have canceled all future bookings as I had planned about $2k worth of lodging this Spring through Fall for work and leisure that brings me here from Fayetteville all the time. I am not saying its a bad spot and the locals there are doing their best, but just know this place is coal-baron full on and if they care so much about the community they so share I would love to see them put their money where their mouth is. But, as a native West Virginian, and if you know anything about the state, we all know that will not happen. This place is a great find out in Tucker County WV. It is an old roadside motel with a bar and restaurant. They definitely try an innovative menu and use local courced food when possible. I've stopped in a few times and always been happy with the food and service. read more

The remodeled Billy's Bar area is fantastic. Great atmosphere and friendly folks. Bar opens at 3 pm and kitchen opens at 5 pm. It is a plus if Rebecca is on duty at the bar. Great mixologist! I stayed at The Billy Motel during a recent hiking trip. The location is great for lots of great hiking and other activities. The team there is excellent! I screwed up my booking and they didn't charge me for the extra night I accidentally booked. They were very friendly and efficient. I loved the restaurant and bar attached, Rebecca is excellent! The room was perfect with everything I needed! I was a little nervous about staying in a Motel, but I absolutely loved my stay! Will definitely plan another trip! read more

By far the best local place for foodies. Although the menu spans a variety of cuisines, they were all executed well. The owner is passionate about her food. I ordered 6 different dishes and enjoyed every one of them. After each bite I kept thinking "I can't believe I'm enjoying 'big city' food in the tiny town of Davis, WV!" The place is a dive! We were a group on a motorcycle trip, it was late so we had no choice but to stay there. The beds were the worst I have ever seen, they were very old and the springs were wore out!! The bathroom sink was the right height if your a midget! Forget about watching TV there. I can't believe they charged over $100. for a night, it should have been more like $40. I think that place charges by the hour for a room! Pictures of the place made it look decent, what a joke!! This place is okay. The decor is awesome and it's right next to the entrance of Blackwater Falls State Park, but I'd say those are all of its pros. We stayed for one night in October. Check-in was easy at the bar, and we got two free drink tokens. The room was clean and I liked that the TV is Chromecast enabled. Everything started out great. When we returned in the evening from our sightseeing, we wanted to enjoy some drinks in the gorgeous lobby area with the fireplace. Alas, it was not meant to be, because although nobody was there and it was freezing cold outside, you had to rent the room for your use ahead of time. So we were told to stand outside with a few smokers, while the fireplace crackled for no one in particular other than the bartender and owner's daughter. If the lobby rental was because of COVID-19 precautions, I'd accept it, but neither the owner's daughter sitting inside or the bartender were wearing masks, so I guess that wasn't the reason. We took our drinks to our room instead of standing in cigarette smoke. We weren't pleased about that situation. Otherwise, if someone is snoring next door or the semi trucks are engine braking on the road outside, you're going to hear all of it all night long. They do provide ear plugs, but I didn't find them adequate. Is this place super cute? Yes! Would I stay here again? No! read more

This is a very quaint, quiet place. We didn't plan on staying but a winter storm warning changed that. We showed up right as the bar was closing and were welcomed warmly and with a couple of drinks. The room was clean and quiet and comfortable. If we're ever in Davis again, we would stay here with no problem! read more

While shopping around for a place to stay near Thomas, WV I came across the Billy Motel. This motel fit my vibe to a T! Excellent customer service, comfortable bed, clean rooms/bath, Chromecast enabled TV's and 2 free drinks from the bar. They had a nice small bier garden where you could be comfortable with social distancing while enjoying the lovely West Virginia fall weather. Will definitely stay here again if I am in the area. read more

Welcome to the 5 star club Billy! The husband and I were headed to Morgantown and on our way we wanted to explore and check out West Virginia a bit more. The husband searched for an area that had a bit of hiking and a few restaurants and breweries to explore, which is how we happened upon Davis. Davis was a perfect spot and there is a ton of stuff to do, explore and enjoy. To find a nice place to stay he used Google Maps then checked reviews on Yelp. The Billy was amazing. A very clean and comfortable room that had a super comfortable bed! Being close to the road we were a bit concerned about road noise, but no problem there. The staff made this stay super fun. Henry was awesome, and we wish him the best of luck on his future project. The owner was amazingly friendly and cool. The staff is so fun that after checking out downtown we came back to the Billy bar and hung out with a bunch of the locals who gave us even more tips to enjoy the area when we return. All total the room was about $100, and so was our bar bill, lol. We loved it here and may check out more motels like this during our future travels. read more

This is not a 5 star motel, but we had 5 star experience here, so I stand by my rating! Well decorated eclectic hotel, clean and comfortable. They kept enough of the old-fashioned touches to make it feel vintage and authentic. Upon arrival they offered us to drink tokens good for a drink at the bar. They also bring you two glasses and a pitcher of water to your room. In the morning we enjoyed delicious French Press coffee and prepackaged biscuit crackers on the patio. Wi-Fi was strong, shower pressure was good. We enjoyed the nice landscaping out front, and also the variety of plants by the patio. So many thoughtful touches made our stay here unique and memorable. We'd love to come back and have dinner as we hear it's pretty good! Very friendly and approachable staff. read more

Check in was easy at the bar and the room had everything we needed. Beds are clean and comfortable. The adjoining restaurant has an eclectic variety of options. The Pao de Queijo was an especially welcomed treat!! The complimentary drinks and French press in the morning were added bonuses. Overall, the quaintness and restoration of the retro feel are a great experience when visiting the beautiful area. Conveniently located for activities in both Davis and Thomas. Came here for the weekend with the family. Lobby, bar was under construction, so checkin was quick. We go to the rooms and first impression is they look nice/ very clean. When we walked in we were hit with an overwhelming musty smell. Beds were uncomfortable and very noisy. Walls were paper thin, we didn't notice this until sat, when someone checked into the room next to us. Spent as much time as possible out, so we didn't have to deal with the smell. Leaving sun I do my typical search under the beds to make sure nothing was left behind and there is about 2" of dust buildup, and trash( paper plates and bottles) that appeared to be there for a while read more

We stayed here for two nights, and our overall experience was good. Pros: free drink token upon check-in, cute bar steps away from room, reasonable price for convenient, comfortable lodging near other attractions, and adorable retro decor. Cons: A.C. Unit in the room was very loud/made strange noises, no cable(but can connect smart tv to your personal media platforms of choice), no refrigerator/microwave in room, and thin walls provided little buffer for outside noise. It was a cute place to stay for the experience, but we'd probably choose some where else next time. read more

The Billy Motel is an excellent play to stay overnight and their management are truly wonderful and accommodating. There was someone smoking in an adjoining room and I notified them. The management immediately handled the situation, let them know how inappropriate their actions were, and apologized to me for having to deal with them. They corrected the situation appropriately and very well. I'll continue coming back here many more times in the future. read more

It was clearly evident our waiter, Aaron, was new. We didn't care, he was a nice guy, and he was trying his best. We could hear the kitchen staff cussing him out using the "F" word, telling him how he "F" Up, etc....We ate outside so we could hear it all.It's hard to get people to work in that business and to keep them you don't treat them like that. This motel was small and sweet!!! Very clean and modern with a homey feeling. Upon check in you receive 2 free alcohol drink tokens in their bar which the bar was the customer service desk. Just a very homey feeling with great people working. In the morning they make you French press coffee and have a variety of breakfast bars and fresh fruit at no addition charge. Great little retro style motel with an awesome funky little bar with an outside sitting area as well just steps away from your room. The owner Joy is a great laid back person and the bartender is a perfect fit for this venue. You get two chips for drinks when you get your room. The room was very comfortable. Decor is late 60's early 70's. The walls are a little thin but fresh ear plugs are on the nightstand. No cable tv but it's compatible to stream from your social media which is a forward thinking idea. Good WiFi hookup. The bed slept great. Quick hot water for a very good shower and above average faucets and hardware. Towels were soft. Great location for hiking (Dolly Sods, Blackwater Falls) and very close to downtown Davis for meals. Granola bars and French Press coffee in the morning no charge. It was a fun stay and worth a return trip. read more

We love dropping in for a cocktail, The Billy is a cozy funky mid century modern bar. They have a cozy seating area with comfy mid century leather chairs and sofas, with a neat modern fireplace. The bar tenders make great drinks and are very friendly. Last time we stopped in Henry had our drinks waiting for us when we walked in the door. That's what I call great service! A great gathering spot for hiking ,biking skiing groups. They have limited rooms to stay, to rest after your adventures. We love this little secret gem of a spot! read more
