Mt Top Convenience…read more Shades of Colassessano's Matriculating into Fairmont State in the 1960's entailed an array of eventful activities which enhance and develop life. As a subscriber of direct on campus education, I eagerly embraced campus life. One element was selecting membership in Theta Xi. Weekly meetings were accompanied by a Theta Xi gathering at Colassessano's which was a colorful Fairmont Pub. Sadly this institution has been replaced by a sanitized version. During that era, Pittsburgh beers appealed to the working class, and popular labels included Iron City Lager, Fort Pitt Beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schlitz, Miller High Life.... As a three year high school letterman, and scholar athlete, I had zero experience with beer, wine, spirits, and shine - all were available to Fairmont State students. I was not yet eligible to hold a draft card. While Theta Xi brothers debate the advantage of various Pittsburgh beers, I was happy to purchase a pitcher of nearly any cold draft. Given decades of European travel, I developed a palette for several German and European brews; none of which were offered at Colassessano's. In retrospect it is this appreciation of European brews that spared me from the emerging micro brewing craze. Ok, some of these brews are very good, and several are horrendous. It was at Colassessano's and the publican that I encountered my first Pepperoni Roll. Home baked rolls included mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmigiano. And Oliverio's Hot Peppers were added to this bundle from heaven. Later we learned to cherish the Colassessano's pizza. This pie seemed to approximate a Chicago deep dish pie with mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmigiano, Oliverio's Hot Peppers, pepperoni, hot sausage, .... Mt Top Convenience is listed on the West Virginia Pepperoni Trail, and for good reason. I take care to phone in an order form Ohio one day in advance of pickup. Of course, I visit the local Davis grocery store for a dozen bottles of Oliverio's Hot Peppers. I take care to import Pilsner Urquell and Guinness Stout for this ski holiday. Yes, Guinness Stout is better in Ireland. Mt Top Convenience offers a variety of interesting brews, and there are several microbreweries in this area. Mt Top Convenience offers a great take on pepperoni rolls. Caveat: do Not take chances with filling station pepperoni rolls which are pre-packaged. Our goal is to support local business, and our menu and dining options for this holiday will center on local West Virginia businesses.

Love to support small business…read more That's why I stop in to Mt. Top Convenience. A stop for all things. The hamlet of Thomas, WV was a notorious gambling and mining den. I bought some snacks, coffee and news here. The girl at the counter did not even say a word. NOT. A. WORD! Guess I erroneously thought a small town A+P 'Convenience''d be friendly.. nah. They have gas, booze, food and beer. (Some of the drinks, cold brew coffee, O-juice etc. we're past the expiration date - as a woman stated below on the reviews here on Yelp!) Rebel review: 4

I decided to get out of the house and take a drive. No real destination in my head, just get on…read morethe road and see where I go. I ended up in the Deep Creek area and was enjoying the scenery. Of course I needed to refuel on many levels, I started out for a gas station/convenience store. And with me, you know I needed to see if my favorite one was in the area. Of course there was, and of course I beat feet until I arrived here. It's a newer looking Sheetz, but on a small footprint. It feels pared down, but it also feels as if it fits in perfectly for the area. It is constantly busy, there was a steady flow of people here, it was hard to find a place to park let alone a pump to get gas. What complicates this area a little more is that there is a car wash right behind the Sheetz. As far as I can tell, it is not owned by Sheetz. In order to access the car wash you need to drive through the Sheetz parking lot. On top of that, when everyone wants a car wash I am sure this is probably a horrible place to be. Inside I made my rounds. Used the facilities, super clean. Browsed the shelves for a snack, they were aplenty. Grabbed a drink from the cooler, make sure to pay attention to pricing, sometimes there are deals. Made my way to pay and this was one of the most pleasant interactions I had all day. The lady behind the counter was so chipper and greeted everyone as if she knew every single person that walked in here.

For a gas station you can't really beat it. Ton of pumps, a couple choices for food inside, plenty…read moreof parking. Food choices were McDonald's (w/ drive thru), Subway and pizza.

I've stopped here over the years more times than I can count…read more Whether on days I was traveling back and forth to Baltimore or DC for work or going to Deep Creek to enjoy the lake in the summer or Wisp in the winter or Ohiopyle anytime of the year. It's a great gas stations and it's easy on and off Interstate 68. They have just about anything you could want or need here from pizza, to chips, to lottery tickets, to liquor, to knick knacks, to souvenirs, to cheese sticks... you get my point. It's a great place to stop and get gas plus also grab a snack and drink. The people who work here are always nothing but friendly and helpful. Make sure to take a pic with Bigfoot ;) Safe travels :)

A Truly Life-Saving Experience at Good To Go in Friendsville, MD…read more I was driving from Rockville, MD to Alpine Lake, WV late at night when, right after getting off the freeway, my tire went completely flat. After 2.5 hours on the road, in an unfamiliar town, stressed and exhausted, I pulled into the first place I saw -- Good To Go -- hoping the air pump could get me back on track. The pump wasn't working for me, and my panic was setting in when a kind stranger came out, checked my tire, and let me know it was completely shot -- and another wasn't far behind. He told me I could leave my car there until I figured things out. That alone was a relief. But the true blessing came minutes later when Rick, the owner, approached. At first, I worried he might tell me I couldn't leave my car there. Instead, he radiated genuine concern and immediately guided me to a safe spot to park. Then he told me something I'll never forget: he lives on the property and would personally check on my car throughout the night. The weight of my stress lifted instantly. As a broke college student without AAA, I had been dreading the cost of a tow back home. Rick didn't just reassure me -- he offered to personally put on new tires if I could get them. That act of kindness saved me from hundreds of dollars and hours of added stress. It's rare to meet people in this world who will go above and beyond for a complete stranger, but Rick is one of those people. I truly believe God put me at that gas station for a reason. This review might not be about the coffee or snacks (which I'm sure are great), but if you ever find yourself passing through Friendsville, stop at Good To Go. You'll meet genuine, kindhearted people who care about more than just business -- they care about you. Thank you, Rick. You didn't just help with my car -- you restored my peace of mind.
