IPA & root beer with a view of the Blackwater River

Love Big Timber!! This is such a wonderful addition to Davis. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always happy to make great recommendations. The location on the Blackwater River is absolutely amazing, with a fantastic covered outdoor deck and patio that's perfect in any season. Inside, the space is beautifully decorated and always feels festive and welcoming. There is a great selection of beer & although they do not have food, there are food trucks there a lot of weekends. We always stop to fill up a growler on our way to Timberline. The pricing is very affordable. Big Timber Brewing truly nails the vibe: great beer, great people, and an unbeatable setting. We'll keep coming back!

Big Timber is a great find in Elkins, WV. The tap room recently moved from the small quarters seen in many review photos to a new and MUCH larger space It is up the street from the prior location and part of the larger brewery facility. First, the space. It is fantastic--beautiful on the inside and very spacious. The bar has at least doubled in size. There is a huge stone fireplace and space for live music and large groups. There ia also a very nice outdoor space which also has a fireplace as well and overlooking the Tygart Valley River. Next, the beer. The larger space means more selections on tap as well as plenty of takeout options. The beers are excellent with a vary of styles to suit most any taste. As of early March 2024, Big Timber was not yet serving food but plans to do so when local permits are finalized.

Patio fireplace, ignore the feet.

Love coming to Big Timber. Husband and I will be back! The beers are great, the service is top notch, the establishment is nicely designed.

A few seats at the bar.

This brewing company is very humble. From the easy feeling we got when walking in, and the neighborly people at the bar, to the bartender patiently waiting to pour us a drink. I had no complaints, but again that is not part of the review. That said, this place is growing. The brewers are doing something right. The bartender offered us 7 or 8 one ounce samples to help us decide, at No charge! So my wife and I found many delicious options before even having to put a few dollars down-amazing! For me I enjoyed the Logger Lager and the Logger Joe very much. Other beers I sampled were the Porter-high ABV so I could not partake, but it was tasty, and the Mexican Lager. I asked about the seasonal and other beers and was pleasantly surprised to hear this was not a run of the mill brewery. Options unavailable to me today were wheat beers, Rauch beers and Kolsch styles. I forgot to ask about Maibocks, and got a funny look from the bartender when I asked about Marzens. Even still there are a few things I look for when visiting a brewery, turn over, seasonals, variety, and a brewer who makes beers other than IPAs, bc to me, those are the real noob ales! I feel ambiance should not play a roll in rating, we came for the beer and so will you, so you shouldn't a pay attention to those other reviewers sharing low points where the products are never mentioned.... Just because they have a vendetta- long story short you need to try this beer! For Yelps score 4.7 rounded up to a 5 and it was easy to round this one. Low cost, Quality options, great atmosphere, wonderful people, none of which played a roll in the 4.7 but definitely make this place a go to! Oh a special nod to dog owners this place is dog friendly- just remember to bring a leash. ENJOY!

Came here with friends on a rainy Saturday afternoon. There were several tables for us to sit at, and a friendly bar tender who helped us with a smile. I was surprised by the beer selection -- IPA, Gose, Sour, Porter (and many others!) All were available both to have there or to take home. I tried the orange guava sour and the dragonfruit cucumber gose. Both had a strong fruit flavor with a refreshing finish. There was an ample amount of memorabilia for sale: tshirts, mugs, pint glasses, stickers etc. I liked that all the furniture inside was made of beautifully carved wood, which gave the bar the feeling of "cabin in the woods".

Stopped in for a quick try after dinner. We were surprised at the selection of beers available. Really nice place with raw timber decor, comfortable yet upscale at the same time. Bartender really knew her stuff. Went home with a 4 pack of Big Timber IPA.

10 brews on tap. Seasonal Bear Berry was a great choice, brew is crisp, refreshing summer fruit brew. Not a huge fan of others brews, could stand to be a bit colder. They have brews in 4 packs to go, grabbed some of the Bear Berry to share. The don't have food, advice was there is food at the gas station next door and you can bring it in. They do not have a great parking situation. They did have cool merch, lots of history around the logging industry and a nice place to sit that allows dogs.

Cozy tap room serving a good variety of beers. I'm a big IPA fan, but was especially taken by their Gose. Friends I was with really enjoyed the Porter. Crowd is super friendly as is the staff. Only downside is that they don't serve food - so eat beforehand. So good that we visited all 4 days we were in Elkins. A

Great choice of beers. The blonde was very good first night, did a flight on the second visit. All were excellent. And Carla, thanks for the Forks Inn recommendation for dinner. Also excellent

Big Timber is my favorite WV brewery. They are brewing some of the best craft beer I've had. If your in Elkins or anywhere near, it's a must stop.

My colleague and I had a beer and flight each, it was delicious! Elkins is a small town but this place has some big flavor in their beer. The bartenders were very nice and even gave us some great food recommendations since they don't serve food in house there. Highly recommend to start your night out!

Was in Elkins, West Virginia for work this week. Big Timber Brewing Company was close to my hotel. A couple of my coworkers and I stopped in there one night to have a few beers, and we had a good time. It's a nice, small micro-brewery. There was only like 20 people there at the time. The decor was pretty cool. It all incorporated some type of wood or wood-cutting (since there's tons of logging done in West Virginia (hints the name of the brewery)). They had a handful of beers on tap. I tried 3 of them. Liked them all. They also have merchandise you can buy too: shirts, hats, growlers, sweatshirts, etc... If you're ever in the area, stop by.

Nice place, good beer, but the parking lot can be quite muddy. We had to walk down the alley to avoid trashing our shoes.

We arrived mid-day, during the week, to an empty brewery, and were very warmly welcomed by amazing staff- the bartender spent a great deal of time with us, allowing samples & talking beer, to ensure we found our ideal pours. She even gave us some 'off list' brews from a can she had opened for herself haha-so we could experience a wider range- and oh boy glad she did because I instantly added the off-list brew to my to-go cart! Overall, we sampled a number of the IPAs & dark beers (schwarz & porters)- drank 4 beers off draft, took 2 packs home- all had high star ratings based on their unique distinguishable flavors. Old Spruce is the kind of place where people gather all day to hang out, grab a drink, and enjoy good food in a relaxed setting. After a full day on the slopes, it was exactly what we needed. We ordered the veggie tacos, tuna nachos, and the Asian tuna salad. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find food of this quality at a brewery. The nachos were flavorful, crunchy, and had just the right kick of spice. But the tuna -- that was the real standout. I know they say not to eat seafood far from the coast, but this completely defied that rule. It practically melted in your mouth and was perfectly seasoned. The veggie tacos were also excellent -- so hearty and well-balanced that you could almost mistake them for having meat. The staff gave off that "everybody knows your name" vibe -- very local, welcoming, and family-oriented. It made the whole experience feel warm and authentic. If you've been skiing all day and want a laid-back place to relax, eat great food, and enjoy a cozy mountain atmosphere, Old Spruce is absolutely worth a visit.
