While at Snowshoe Mountain, I was recommended to try a local favorite -- Old Spruce -- and it did not disappoint. Old Spruce is the kind of place where people gather all day to hang out, grab a drink, and enjoy good food in a relaxed setting. After a full day on the slopes, it was exactly what we needed. We ordered the veggie tacos, tuna nachos, and the Asian tuna salad. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find food of this quality at a brewery. The nachos were flavorful, crunchy, and had just the right kick of spice. But the tuna -- that was the real standout. I know they say not to eat seafood far from the coast, but this completely defied that rule. It practically melted in your mouth and was perfectly seasoned. The veggie tacos were also excellent -- so hearty and well-balanced that you could almost mistake them for having meat. The staff gave off that "everybody knows your name" vibe -- very local, welcoming, and family-oriented. It made the whole experience feel warm and authentic. If you've been skiing all day and want a laid-back place to relax, eat great food, and enjoy a cozy mountain atmosphere, Old Spruce is absolutely worth a visit. read more

I'm local-my son, who's a DC resident, got married up here on the mountain over July 4 weekend. The wedding party gathered here one night to enjoy the warm weather and some beer/eats. I ALWAYS get the deviled eggs they are epic! We all enjoyed salads, nachos, smash burgers, and tacos: the food was timely, the server was a happy soul, and we greatly enjoyed family time. It's right at the shuttle stop, so convenient. Ya'll come here! read more

The beer here is great, the smash burger though? It's what dreams are made of. It's also pretty cool that it's big enough that kids can run around outside and not disturb people. I felt very comfortable bringing my daughter here and she enjoyed playing with the other kids. The service is also world class - fast and an absolute delight! read more

Terrific little bar right in the heart of the village with a superb selection of draft and canned beer. Perfect for strolling in right off the ski lift. Nice small food menu but we only rehydrated. Main location is just a couple miles down the hill. Highly recommend! read more

Decent/ chill place to get dinner and drinks after a day on the slopes. Very friendly and relaxing atmosphere. There wasn't a lot of seating (2-3 long tables, and some high tops) so be aware of that if going with a big group. The nachos were very filling and reasonably price. Unfortunately the rice bowl fell short. It was not a lot of flavor and pretty underwhelming. Drink wise, solid beer selection and liquor selection as well. They had plenty of NA options for kids/ and non drinkers. Overall a pretty solid option! read more

AWESOME addition to Snowshoe! Beers are great and if that's not your thing there's a bourbon bar upstairs (that also has other other liquors). If you've ever been to Old Spruce in the village, you know the food is really good and it's great here too. My group of 6 came on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30pm. The place was mostly empty but filled up within an hour when all the skiers were done for the day. The brewery is big, open, and spacious with a comfy, homey feel. It's also kid-friendly and there is a game room upstairs that is perfect to let them run around in. The bartenders are super nice and attentive. This is definitely going to be a stop every time I'm back at Snowshoe! read more

Constantly disappointed. The idea is outrageously awesome, the kind of place I would WANT to visit every time I come to the mountain. But it is run so horribly that I am reluctant. Something about the inside of this place that is just not inviting. There are several 10-seater tables, not enough tables for four, the music is piped from two large speakers on top of the bar instead of throughout the restaurant, the outside has NEVER been set up when we've visited, there is no music outside, and the food is meh (think bowling alley nachos). I want to want to come here, but it's just SO disappointing. Someone needs to create something just like this that makes people feel welcome with great ambiance and great food. Big miss. read more

The decor in the restaurant is pretty cool and they had great live music as well. The food menu is a really interesting mix of Asian, Mexican, and German fusion dishes. I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad and it was a really basic romaine lettuce-only salad with some grilled chicken pieces and sesame-ginger dressing. However, the nachos were really delicious--definitely order that! The drinks were good, it was a chill atmosphere, and the servers were nice. I think my rating is more like 3.5 stars for the place. read more

This place was an incredible surprise on our weekend Snowshoe getaway. Setting was so pretty and they were taking COVID super seriously. The staff was insanely friendly and patient. The beer solid. Holy Crap! Some of the best brews. Excellent variety. Something for everyone. Fine quality. Food is amazing. The brewer is some sort of beer magician. I honestly can not criticize any of the 7 beers on tap while we were there. Well, ok, the Hazy IPA (5 rating on untappd.com) could be a bit more hazy in clarity. But it still gets a 5! I wasn't really a fan of this place. One, its called a brewery but they didn't have a lot of beers. I felt liked they had a lot more liquor and that's what most people who went there we're ordering. The food was ok. The menu options were a bit limited with mostly rice bowls. I had brisket tacos and the brisket was overcooked and tough. I didn't like the two beers that I tried or the wine that they had. I wouldn't come here again. read more

I have made multiple calls, multiple! Called a hour before. No problem come on in. We get off the shuttle and the women said "you all will have to be seated outside ". The attitude from the beginning tells me it's all about the locals! I get it but i spend a shot ton of money while I'm on vacation. Especially for my wife's 40th birthday! Piss poor! read more

So glad they were open again during Covid! The upstairs bartender at the bourbon bar ran all over taking care of the bar and all of the upstairs tables with a nice demeanor and a smile on his face! My coat got stolen, and I notified staff. Staff was rude and unhelpful. The unprofessional behavior of the staff was astounding.

If you have stopped by the Old Spruce tavern on the mountain, then you need to come down the mountain half way and stop by the brewery where the beer is made. It's such a cool space with a little something extra on the second floor. Up there you can find a bourbon bar and a nice game area for kids and family. read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We loved the casual ambiance in a mountain town. Tacos were on point.

Overall, I was not impressed ... Although the ahi tuna tacos were tasty, the nachos appetizer did not have enough toppings to cover the chips. Orders and refills were given at the counter and delivered to the table. When asking for a refill ( because they don't come back to your table) my husband was scolded for not having his mask on. Covid is fast becoming an excuse for high food prices and slacking customer service. read more
