Went to this place with high hopes, but left disappointed. Service was nice and there was a lady in there that did a really good job at greeting and ensuring that we are taking care of. The food came out and the French toast was okay but cooked well. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and the gravy came out cold and flavorless. I mentioned to the server that the gravy was cold and sent it back. About a minute later I get back the same plate with a piping hot biscuit and gravy with the bite I had already taken out of it removed. Yep it was just nuked. I tried it again and now it was just hot and soggy. When we checked out, We asked them to remove it from the bill and they did so reluctantly. Really wanted to like this place because of the mission and how nice the lady in front was, but the food just didn't live up to expectations. After reading the many reviews lamenting the poor service, we were pleasantly surprised by how attentive our waitress was during our visit for breakfast. Other than that, I can't say anything else recommends the Breakfast Nook except the bacon. Our party ordered a waffle with the homemade maple syrup (what a strange-tasting disappointment with a lingering aftertaste), a veggie omelet with toast, biscuits and gravy with hash browns, and the Nookie's Scramble. Not one of us ate more than half our meal, and we only managed that because we were headed out for hiking and needed fuel. My son ate 4 bites of the biscuits and gravy and pushed it away, which shocked us all. Until today he had never met a biscuit with gravy that he didn't like. The food was uniformly bland, the eggs over-cooked, and the hash browns unseasoned. We paid $61 plus tip for meals that had no redeeming qualities. read more

Run away ! Huge trap for tourists to get stuck overpaying for run of the mill pre made stuff. My family of 4 went out Saturday night and had apps, pizza, drinks and dessert in a great sit down and it was cheaper than this mediocre breakfast. This places prices are insane ! Two adults ordered coffee and asked for a glass of water on the side. They charge for coffee $3 each and water $2 each as they will not give you a glass of water. 2 Kids wanted milk and they got tiny juice glasses of milk for $8!!! I ordered the scramble which wasn't great and the hasbrowns were not cooked $12. Husband got "biscuits and gravy" which was 1 freezer biscuit not biscuits lol and canned gravy and it was $12 and came with nothing else. 1 child ordered french toast that comes with sausage $12 and was asked if they wanted syrup. Of course why wouldn't he‍ ... that was an extra $2 for syrup. They also tried to charge $3 more for the 1 piece of sausage even though it came with it. Second child ordered blueberry pancakes and side of bacon , again asked do you want syrup. Yes of course who doesn't want syrup and with pancakes ... $12 pancakes $3 piece of bacon $2 syrup. The pancakes came out plain. Asked for blueberries and was given some frozen ones from the freezer ‍. Needed a to go box for the child's pancakes and they won't give you one. Only foil and no way to take the syrup I was charged $2 for either. Super frustrating experience. And the idea it's farm fresh is definitely not the case. Even the girl working said they just order stuff from a big company. Definitely wont be back. There's great places to eat in the area I've been going for 30 years... this for sure will not be one. I think even more concerning is the idea this is some sort of ministry training people into society or something... they stated the guy in the kitchen can't read English so perhaps they work on that helpful skill before teaching them how to rip people off and insure they don't return. Crazy business model. Honestly I hope those people don't feel like they are being forced to stay there and work just for a place to live. It all seems super bizarre and final fun fact... they are cash only and if you go bring lots. Over $70 for a very small breakfast for 4. It would have been cheaper to eat at the resort and had infinite choices from a freshly prepared buffet but we were trying support small and local but this one misses the mark big time. read more

The breakfast was amazing. The ladies and working staff were wonderful and we absolutely love how you are working with students with disabilities and transitioning them into the real world. I must address the elephant in the room. There was a man working in the back that began cursing and berating the students working. I was shocked an appalled by the interaction. Please Please Please....people with disabilities need to be in a positive, loving, patient, working environment in order to thrive. The restaurant is very small. Bar seats, I think about 8 of them and one small table was all we saw. I think there's an inn above the "restaurant". After seeing so many great reviews we were excited to go. The person behind the counter was pleasant. Four people ordered before us, so we were told it would be a while before they could put the ticket in. No problem, seems like a small staff. The orange juice did not taste right at all and had a weird color. I was told no French toast because they were out of milk, but they found a "substitute" for milk. No idea what that was. It was odd, not horrible. Homemade syrup was average but very runny. My daughter got the waffle, which was flat and small. Appears to be pancake batter in a waffle iron. She couldn't even eat. Neither of us could eat the bacon. $34 for breakfast we didn't even finish because we couldn't. And they only take cash so be prepared for that but they do have an atm. Stopped here on our way out of town, service was great and our waitress was very polite and professional. I had the blueberry pancakes with bacon, the pancakes were great (I think they were whole grain) and bacon was thick and crispy. Everything is farm fresh and local. Fantastic experience. We joined them for a late breakfast and they were nice enough to extend breakfast hours to accommodate our group of 8. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and accurate with our orders (despite several special requests). I had the baconator, a waffle with bacon on the middle, and it was delicious! Everybody else enjoyed their food as well, and the bill was a welcome respite from the prices we're accustomed to paying in DC; I think it all came out to less than $80 for our big party. Knowing that the restaurant is associated with a worthy cause was an added bonus. I was in there for 1o minutes and I then walked out upset at what I saw and witnessed. the manager Jake was not a very nice person to staff. And the food tasted terrible like burnt plastic, and slime and I don't know Im not going to suppport a place like that and Im not going to risk safety and health of my friends, family, by going to this place ever.
