Cool vibes, great beer. The bartender was super friendly. Such an underrated brewery. Stop by the Mountain Fix and get a coupon for the brewery. Give it a try!

Stopped in for a couple of beers after hiking. Beer was delicious with a good variety. Laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and outdoor seating. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Great hidden gem. Ordered the Nonsense Words IPA, which I give two thumbs up. The inside was nice and clean, and all the proper COVID precautions were being taken. Bartender was very friendly and was excellent at answering questions for other groups behind me in line.

Visited Deep Creek for our anniversary and wanted to hit a couple breweries while there. It's a smaller place with some outdoor seating. The decor is really cute, and the bartender was very nice. We ordered 2 flights and then one beer of our choice. We even went back later and bought 2 packs of the Strong Action (Bock) to take home. Beer was delicious! The bock was our favorite and we also really liked the IPA that wasn't listed in the board. It's the one labeled "Chasing" in the pictures. I also liked the stout, I could be wrong but it had a bit of a coffee taste to it. Would definitely recommend and will go back! L

BEER SNOBS, JUST GO! We are IPA fans and at the time of our visit Short Story didn't disappoint. We sampled all they had on offer (Chasing Daylight, Infinity+1, Next Level, Flash Fiction and Adventure Maker) plus a wheat (Cloud Watcher) and Helles (Argonaut). They were ALL delicious! So much so, we had a hard time figuring out which to have a full pint of (Next Level and Infinity+1 finally won). The place is clean and inviting, bartender Sean is fantastic, and they have picnic tables out front for outdoor enjoyment. If we're ever in the area again, Short Story will be our first stop. JUST GO!

Excellent beer in a laid back atmosphere. We parked the boat and walked up the hill it was well worth the climb.

Such a great addition to DCL. A cozy, friendly place with excellent, creative beers. We'll visit often.

First, the beer. I have had much better, though the double bock and the Doc Brown Ale were the best with the double bock being a little too sweet. At 7 bucks a pint, it is the average price. This place won't attract me for beer alone. The menu is rather simple in terms of selections which should offer an opportunity to excel with food, thus keeping people returning. I found what I tried to be rather bland and typical of brewpubs. Smashburger. Bland, though I suspect the tomato jam and roasted garlic mayo were supposed to give the flavor depth. I wish I could have tasted these separately to fully analyze. At 16.26, I can find better. I tried the blue cheese salad dressing and was disappointed. It was like eating sour cream with a hint of blue cheese. This is so easy to make and taste good. The hand beer battered cod was also bland. Just not impressed. The fresh cut fries are typical of fresh fries. Not great. If you're willing to put time in it, you can make great fries. Overall, the menu selections could be better. I would think a nice steak salad or something like that may do well. The steak pinsa is the closest, I guess, but would be better with a salad. The service was mediocre even though our server was friendly. When you emphasize beer, tis best to visit often to see if the customer would like another. Don't wait until the meal is nearly finished. Will I be back? I want to try a few other dishes to get a more complete idea of this place, but I can see this place fading away like the others that come and go.

Really was looking forward to coming here with seeing several people post online about it…read more We went up on a Saturday evening without reservations which I'm not sure they take. To my luck and delight, there was live music blaring upon entry. We were sat near the bathrooms and kitchen and put in our drink order. I want to mention they were kind of busy but not swamped, and it took a lot of time in between seating to greeting to drink delivery to ordering to food to dessert to check. In fact, I didn't see much of our waitress out and about at all - blonde with a lot of energy. She was nice but very spotty in checking on us. We ordered the pretzels and cheese for an appetizer to start. They were ok. For my meal I got the pit beef sandwich which came with a horseradish sauce. The time between the ordering to appetizer to meal was LONG. The manager or owner who brought out the meals realized I was getting pissed and tried to smooth things over. Problem was the sandwich was very dry. Pit beef should have some juiciness to it, but honestly it was really dry. The horseradish sauce was nice but had evaporated into the bun - probably from sitting back in the window for 15 minutes without coming out. The best part of the meal was the dessert which was a French dish I can't remember but is pictured. Cold dessert covered in icing and layered inside. It was very good and light Overall it was ok. I'd like to try again but man the waiting for food when it's not very busy thing is a big pet peeve of mine.

We arrived mid-day, during the week, to an empty brewery, and were very warmly welcomed by amazing staff- the bartender spent a great deal of time with us, allowing samples & talking beer, to ensure we found our ideal pours. She even gave us some 'off list' brews from a can she had opened for herself haha-so we could experience a wider range- and oh boy glad she did because I instantly added the off-list brew to my to-go cart! Overall, we sampled a number of the IPAs & dark beers (schwarz & porters)- drank 4 beers off draft, took 2 packs home- all had high star ratings based on their unique distinguishable flavors. Heavy Handed (creamy dreamy delicious w.heavy backend 4star) Weapons Free (creamy haze; hop cloud 4star) Druid Fluid (dried fruit citra haze pop 3.5star) Wizard Dreams (creamy, but not enough pop flavor 3star) Tad Nugent (perfect hazy floral nose, creamy hops 4star) Coal Train (subtle chocolate richness 4star) Ludicrous Speed (dark coffee chocolate nibs roasted 3.5star) Boof Stroke (impressive delicious citra for how light-boldest flavor profile 5star) Hanging out on the patio picnic table area to relax it was a great night out- really appreciated the venue, wished we lived closer to re-stock up- definitely going to have to keep an ear out for when we know people visiting and put in to-go requests haha!

After a day of exploring at Ohiopyle me and my friend who are craft beer and brewery enthusiasts…read morewere excited to stop by here and have some beers afterwards. We initially were stopped in our tracks by the doors being locked and the business being closed which was a surprise to us because I had read on Yelp the hours were 4-10ish but we'd later find out that was more like 4ish to 10ish. Haha! We were bummed and as we were walking back to the Jeep to head somewhere else, I sparked up a conversation with a couple gentlemen from the area who were in the parking lot. They were waiting to go inside as well and assured us that the owner would be there soon. So we chatted about beers and breweries and then boom, the owner pulled in. We found out that she had to pick up an order she had placed at Sam's Club and while doing that a girl had called off, so totally understandable. We all helped her unload the stuff she bought for the bar and then she served us an ice cold Halleck Pale Ale in frosted mugs from Chestnut Brew Works, which sadly enough I'd never had until then, Wow was it was tasty! Thanks Shorty for the recommendation. It's now on my favorite list. After chatting it up with the locals we happened to find out to our surprise that a guy we grew up with now lived in the area and made friends with the locals since they were all super good musicians. So they called him up and he came down and had a beer with us before we had to head out. They played us their new music on the jukebox and it was very good and we also met a local guy who had just been inducted into the WV Music Hall Of Fame. Damn, these are the days I live for! Listen, this place is 100% awesome! The owner Laura is amazing, the locals are kind and friendly, the beer is super cold and mostly local but some of your other favorites too, she makes her own wine and it's on tap, the food looks good, she supports locals businesses as well by purchasing their stuff for resale, it's roomy and they have a pool table. It's a super cool place and I can't wait to go back and hang out again and grab a pizza from the pizzeria next door. Sláinte!
