My Wife and I have been going to this Mountain Mike's pizza for about 20 years now. We have to drive past 3 other Mountain Mike's to get to the Sunol location. Every once in a while, I get tired and don't have the energy to drive all the way over there. So I have gone to other Mountain Mike's once every couple years, and their pizza is nothing compared to the Sunol location. The owner Paul is the best guy ever. Walked in and stood at the counter while an employee finished a personal phone call, completely ignoring us. We were only acknowledged once we started heading for the door. When we asked about the pizza buffet, we were told it wasn't being offered because of Labor Day. We said we'd just try another location, and were then told that no Mountain Mike's location was running the buffet that day. That turned out to be false. We called two other locations afterward, and both confirmed they were doing the buffet as normal. Being ignored while an employee handles personal business is bad enough, but being given incorrect information rather than a simple "I'm not sure" is worse. We had been avid customers getting pizza there sometimes weekly for 10 years. But then We had a really bad experience there where the employee did not resolve a DoorDash order problem and let us walk out without any pizza. We stopped getting pizza there after that experience because we were told the owner knew what happened but apparently didn't care enough to reach out to us about it. I reached out to corporate office to make sure the owner really knew about it because we had been such regular customers. I confirmed that he did know about it and did not care to intervene or even respond or acknowledge us. Unfortunately, as a result, we are done with this location permanently. My buddy lives down the street. One time after playing golf, we all decided on staying super casual and just go out for pizza and beers afterwards. We had all just spent almost $200 each on our golf round plus drinks and snacks, so weren't feeling dropping another $100 each on a sit-down dinner. And for any respectable citizen of the suburbs, we all know a Mountain Mike's and usually have favorable opinions about their pizzas. No, it is not mind blowing pizza, but it is better than most suburban offerings, so it stays a staple to many homes. This one looks much the same as many in my area, same decor with 'mountain-y' nature photos, a few TVs hung up and maybe a banner or 2 of some local teams. This one might even have a bit more old school charm than some others that are less than a decade old. My guess is that this is well over a decade old. Workers/owner was really friendly. Great tone and upbeat. Seems like all neighborhood peeps here as even though we were the only ones sitting at a table on a quiet weekday evening, a good amount of peeps rolled through picking up phone orders. And most knew each other by names. The owner even handled a sketchy situation where some ragged individual and their daughter rolled a shopping cart in with 3 pizza cardboard boxes. They claimed everyone in the household got sick the night before, so they brought back 3 empty boxes wanting some compensation. I used to work with the public and in my current state, I totally would not have been as 'cooperative' as that dude was. So I'm giving him props. Anyways the 2 medium pizzas we ordered were just like any other Mountain Mikes, even though I have a couple in my area that I think execute at a great level. These were suffice. But over $50 for 2 mediums is kinda gettin' hard to swallow, literally and metaphorically. I thought I was going to get a cheapish meal, but not really. I guess the good is I was able to take a small box home with about 4 slices, which fed me a good snack for the next couple of days. Oh and this is the 925 valley. We stopped for the pizza buffet. There were 7 people in the restaurant when we walked in and there was 1 round pan of pizza on the buffet. The person helping us, who I assume is the manager, was really nice and welcoming. He asked us what kind of pizza we wanted so he could make it. I asked for pepperoni and jalapeño and he said there was that kind on the buffet ( there were about 6 slices of pepperoni, 2 pepperoni and sausage on the pan). My husband asked for a chicken bacon ranch style pizza and the manager offered a white sauce chicken type. We agreed, paid and sat down. The 8 slices of the remaining pizza were reluctantly shared by all of us in there. The man working brought out our pizza and I kid you not, It was 4 slices of chicken bacon and 4 slices of white sauce chicken pizza. He said he doesn't make full pizzas unless there are more people in the restaurant. As soon as the pizza was put out, of course people came and grabbed it. We asked him for more pepperoni and he said not until either more people come in or the pizza that's out is finished. Don't advertise a pizza lunch buffet if you refuse to serve pizza. Like it's literally a "buffet" with 1 pan of mixed slices of pizza. So so disappointing. Then to top it off, we watched the man working move the remaining slices of pizza onto the pan with his bare hands and wipe his fingers on his pants. I was excited to hear that mountain mikes buffet was back. when I came in they only had one pizza. The pizza was not under a heating lamp so it looked cold and dry. The salad bar was nasty and none of the veggies were fresh. They used to have a variety of pizza but they said they are only making pepperoni. What a disappointment. read more

Generally I'm not too much in the chain pizza places. And then the past at other Mountain Mountain Mikes locations I've been disappointed. But something about this particular Pleasanton location does everything right. We come here about once a month with the VW group on Friday night. The staff is always very nice and they handle our group very well and efficiently. I don't know what it is but this Mountain Mikes does something to wear their pizza taste better than others. It might be due to the fact that they actually cook their pizza for the proper amount of time and that the proper heat. We do look forward to coming here. I always order one size larger that way I have leftovers. And also their beer selection is pretty good! read more

Very disappointing. Just picked up a large pepperoni and sausage and opted for pickup because i wanted to maximize freshness. I Get home and take a first bite and pizza was slimy and watery -- totally undercooked! Bread has a weird cardboard consistency. So i try to fix it by reheating it in oven. That fixed the crust which is now crispy as expected but the cheese now is overcooked due to the reheat. Its now an unappetizing mess. This has really ruined Friday night dinner. This is not the first time encountering this issue with this location. Its always hit or miss. I don't understand the lack of consistency. Rushing thru Friday night orders? I LOVE pizza, but I LOVE good pizza!!! However, my main complaint about this parlor is that it was dirty. Dirty dishes and dirty napkins strewn across the tables. I had to grab a bunch of napkins and used a large amount of sanitizer to wipe down the table before I sat down. I also LOVE salad. I went to the salad bar and it too, was dirty. The salad condiments looked old, dried and wilted. I like ranch dressing. I took a chance with a spoonful. It was NOT good. My $10 coke and the ice were the only things I felt comfortable consuming. Beware!!! "Lunch Pizza Buffet" with 1 Small Old Peperoni Pizza!!! Usually come here for pickup, decided to try the lunch pizza buffet with my friend. We were so disappointed, looks like the owner is rationing his pizza! There were a total of 7 people eating, and there were 1 small old peperoni pizza in the serving station... He would add a pizza every 15 minutes and as soon as it's served we'd all line up for pizza. So ridiculous, don't even have a lunch buffet if you're going to be cheap with the pizza. We ordered the Snowy Alps last night. It was delivered within 25 minutes and it was delicious. I highly recommend it.

Really bad. Enter 12:45 pm Friday for lunch buffet. Only 2 trays of half eaten pizza on display. Lots of people though. I am charged for soda even though I didn't ask for it. I ask for to go paper cup since i already am charged for soda and am told it costs more. I ask if more pizza coming and am told no, but maybe later. I ask if I can get supreme and am told only 2 toppings max for buffet pizzas. I look for hot peppers and only two tables have it. No new plates and everybody using same old plates. Seriously, even round pizza beats this place. So disappointed.
