It's not fine dining, but it's just fine for a hot dog place. Unpretentious, but lives up to everything it promises. They always get our orders right, the place is clean, and the service is prompt and friendly. The chili is probably not something you should eat every day, but it's far less salty than any other chili I've had in town.The dogs are good and don't "repeat" on me like some other dogs do. Recently, this pescatarian searched online for "best veggie dog" and multiple responses said that the brand that Wienerschnitzel carries is very good, with correct texture and flavor. I remain dubious, considering how horrible I thought Tofu Pups were. Still, my curiosity won out, so the wife and I got one veggie dog each today, eating inside. The space was very clean, and the location has plenty of parking and easy access from third or fourth street. Anyway, about that dog. YUM!!! I have simple instructions for toppings which they followed, and damn, I'm gonna find out what market sells these things and get me some. Have been here numerous times over the past several years... always very good/solid... essentially the best of what you could expect from Weinerschnitzel. Decided to leave a good review as I went twice in the past week, and it was even better than usual. The first standout was the service and the guy at the register - didn't get his name but will in my next visit. He waited on me both visits- just a nice young guy, he's "with it", polite, thoughtful and efficient. This is rare at many fast food places ... exceptions being In & Out and Chick Fil a which both hire great kids and train them well. So kudos to the guy who runs the register. There was a second young guy as well on my 2nd visit who was also good Now the food standout part ... I had a Polish Sandwich on a Bun (which I first had in 1977 as a HS kid)... still fantastic and delicious. It comes on rye - which is also very good- but I like to get it on a bun periodically. I will add sauerkraut at times. I also got their special both visits, which was a shrimp po boy. It comes on a hot dog bun with a slightly spicy creamy sauce. I love shrimp po boys and am pretty picky about them, and somewhat surprising this was very good. Look forward to my next visit. read more

Reliable basics for sure. I have been going to this location for many, many years...since it was the icon A-frame building so long ago. I do not venture outside the basic hot dogs, burgers, and iced tea, so I cannot speak to those. However, I can never pass up their corn dogs, mustard dog, or fries. Oh my gosh! The FRIES! My all-time favorite sticks of potato that have enslaved me for most of my life. Seriously, I do love them. My husband and I went here often between soccer games (referees). Service is quick (helps to have a simple menu) and food hot. Drive through is especially quick which we use often. Sitting outside is limited. I recently saw new TV ads for their Pastrami Sandwich and was passing by the Livermore location and decided to try it. I like pastrami and good pastrami is hard to find. Well, it was a major disappointment. For $5.99, it was a lousy value because it was pretty small and not very good meat. It should have been very tasty and moist but it wasn't. And, surprisingly, I was still kinda hungry so I tried their version of a Chicago Dog. Another mistake. There are very specific details that make up a real Chicago Hot Dog. This one was missing the bright neon relish, the Sport Peppers and the Poppy Seed Bun. And the weiner had no 'snap' to it when biting into the casing. But the worst thingt was - it was not hot! How in the Hell can it not be hot? On top of all of that, the is showing its age. It looks worn and run down and needs a remodel. These negative reviews are ridiculous. This place is great and the food is much better than the one on Vasco. We had to vacate our home for a few days and stayed at a hotel out there. Definitely not as good as this location! For what it is, it does it really well. And the seasonal shakes they have are awesome! I had the orange Creamsicle shake and, honestly, this should be on the regular menu. So freaking good! And IMHO their fries are right up there with McDonald's. Wienerschnitzel has been around a long time. decades ago, the dogs were actually pretty good. no more sampling: cheaper than the 5/$5, the .89 cents dogs draw me in. -regularly 1.29-1.59, i choose a kraut dog and a relish dog. -the kraut tasted like what i imagined paper would taste like. -the relish dog had onions too which made it tasty. -the weiners were tasteless, not juicy, just limp. probably turkey dogs. leftovers: -will probably only order the chili dog since the chili taste good. -the frostie also. -lots of parking in the lot -friendly, semifast, courteous service. read more

The base offerings have remained constant and reliable for that whole time. I know the owners a bit as well, and know that they have provided an opportunity for many kids to have their first job. I tried Wienerschnitzel for the very 1st time with my fiance after the Super Bowl. The restaurant was closed so we ended up walking through the drive through. We ordered 2 Chili Cheese Dogs, Jalapeno Poppers, and 2 Chili Cheese Burgers. When we got our order they had forgotten to add cheese to the Chili Cheese Dogs and well as the Chili Cheese Burgers. We were patient while they fixed the order. After eating our meal my fiance I and I both decided that the food was mediocre at best and Jack in the Box has much better Jalapeno Poppers. Drive-thru is always terribly slow. Don't come here if you're in a hurry, even if there's only a couple cars ahead of you. When I went yesterday, with only one car in front of me, it was quicker than normal. I ordered a hotdog and ice cream. Both were okay. I asked for a receipt. About a month ago, when I got a receipt, it wasn't readable. I could barely make out the faint print if I struggled. I brought it to the attention of the person waiting on me. She said she would tell the manager. She also asked if i wanted a pen so I could write what I wanted on the receipt. So they are aware of the problem. Now, a month later, the receipt I was given wasn't much different than a blank piece of paper. Sure, I could see something was printed on it, but read it, no. I told the person who gave it to me that it wasn't readable. His answer, "well, I can read it." Does it matter that this young man can read it (assuming he wasn't lying) if the one who needs it cannot? Should one have to struggle to read something that should be clear. I think it would be better if they tell people they cannot have a receipt than to blithely hand them a blank piece of paper as though that's just as good. I wonder what else this place is faking, since they don't care about their customers' requests. read more
