My friends and I went to brunch and we had an amazing time. The drinks' presentation blew me away because of the additional effort by staff. It wasn't just mimosas in a glass but the presentation made it picture perfect. The food was amazing! And their take on s'mores was phenomenal. Yes s'mores! I'd honestly go back for just the dessert and some wine but if I'm being honest here, ima feast. I am definitely planning on coming back again and making a this place a regular stop when I come to Temecula. I also noticed folks working on the landscape and I'm curious to see the final product. Great wines! Stopped by here before we got to Pala Casino. Decided to do some wine tasting here before hitting up the slot machines. Founded in 1969 by John H. Poole, Mount Palomar Winery has been growing and producing award-winning wines. The winery, vineyards, and citrus groves of Mount Palomar Winery are situated on more than 315 acres in the heart of Temecula Wine Country. Mount Palomar makes a range of fine wines with special emphasis on classic, Bordeaux style blends and Italian varieties. Mount Palomar also has a thirty year history of producing excellent Port and Solera Cream Sherry. The winery uses two main brands: Mount Palomar and Castelletto. The Castelletto name ("little castle" in Italian), used by Mount Palomar for their Italian style wines, comes from the family of their founder's wife, Olivia de Reya Poole. The Tasting Room is open 7 days a week. You can enjoy six wines from their tasting menu at your choice of two tasting bars for $12 Monday - Thursday from 10:30am to 6:00pm and $15 Friday - Sunday 10:30am - 7:30pm. Somehow we got to enjoy seven tastings instead of just six. My dad, sister, and I all chose to taste different wines. We ended up getting three wine servers that kept on rotating around the bar. One of the servers poured more than the typical 1 oz pour, no complaints on that. These were the wines I tasted: 2010 Sangiovese Rose - Tropical fruity aroma with a crisp and refreshing taste 2009 Castelletto Trovato - Aromas of prune and mandarin orange, a bit of oak taste with a smooth finish 2010 Dry Riesling - Tropical fruit and citrus aromas with a sweet and refreshing finish. I thought this would be the perfect summer wine 2010 Viognier - Ripe pear and orange aromas. I did not like the taste of this one at all. 2010 Castelletto Cortese - Citrus and floral aromas, acidic taste. 2011 Riesling - Nice fruity aroma, fruity and sweet taste. 2009 Cinsaut - Aromas of strawberries, rich and earthy flavor Overall, I enjoyed most of the wines I've tasted here. This is the only winery I visit whenever I'm in Temecula. It's been my tradition for the past 18 years. I know there are plenty of wineries out here but I just don't feel like trying anything else. I already did that when I first visited Temecula while I was in college. Back then I knew nothing about wine nor did I have the palette to distinguish between a good wine and a bad wine. Actually, I still don't have the palette but this place was the only winery that had something that I liked. I checked out other wineries in the area like Baily, Callaway, Maurice Carrie, and few others I can no longer remember, but none of them had anything I liked. Mount Palomar used to make Late Harvest Riesling at the time and that's the wine that got me hooked. It was a very sweet wine but that's what I liked back then and I still prefer sweet wines over dry. Mount Palomar discontinued Late Harvest Riesling while back but still make great tasting Riesling so I still return here for them. Along the way I found few other wines that I like. Back around 2006 Mount Palomar carried a sweet, sparkling wine called Moscato which I really liked. It was a very refreshing wine which I hope they bring back. I was bummed I didn't see it on my most recent visit. Wine tasting costs $12 Monday-Thursday and $15 Friday-Sunday. It sure has gone up since I first came here, Used to be only $6 even on weekends. Wine tasting tickets can be purchased at the register on the right when you first walk in. You get to choose 6 from their list. It's best to go with another person so each person can get something different and get to try 12 different wines. On my most recent visit, these are the ones I liked: From the white wine list I liked Castelletto Cortese which has citrus, apricot, and green apple aroma with little bit of oak. I also liked Sangiovese Rosé which is very smooth with tropical fruit aroma. I've never been a fan of red wine so didn't really find much from this list but I did like Cinsaut the best. It's pretty light with strawberry, anise, and cinnamon aroma. As usual, dessert wines were my favorite, especially the Riesling which has apricot and pear aroma. I always liked the Cream Sherry here as well, which has hazelnut, caramel, and almond aroma. I took this one back to my car and drank with some lavender chocolate I got from Front Street Jerky. Mount Palomar is located on a hill so you get a nice view from the high vantage point. The area is gorgeous. There's usually some private party or reception going on here especially in the summer time. read more

I had my wedding at Mount Palomar Winery in September, and it was such an amazing day! I actually visited about a dozen venues (mostly wineries) in Temecula, and it didn't take long to narrow it down to Mount Palomar. These were my reasons: - The venue is beautiful, with many different locations for guests to explore and for the wedding couple and bridal party to take gorgeous photos. - This wasn't the cheapest venue in the area that we visited, but it was definitely on the lower end. The prices might've changed since I booked the venue in early 2014, but I think you can still trust me on this--I used a spreadsheet to compare all the venues using different variables (number of guests, number of hours, with or without unlimited wine & beer). - I was worried that we could not reach the guest minimum at most venues. However, Mount Palomar would allow us to upgrade the linens, purchase bottles of wine for the wedding day, etc. to reach the equivalent cost of the minimum. We ended up having more guests than expected, but it was nice to have the peace of mind that our money wouldn't simply be wasted if we couldn't fulfill the guest minimum. - Although the winery is open to the general public during the day, the ceremony site was distant enough to keep the wedding event private. Many other wineries we visited were too commercial and did not offer enough privacy. - I really wanted to have my reception in a barrel room, and the one at Mount Palomar provided such a beautiful and unique setting. Overall, our expectations were met! The food was a small downside for us--it wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. The winery partners with a catering company, so we didn't have much of a choice there. Also, our wedding cake came with three different flavors, but only two of them were served (we certainly didn't need to order an extra sheet cake like our cake vendor suggested). When one of our guests requested the cake that hadn't been served, a staff member--not sure if this was Mount Palomar or the catering staff--just told the guest that there wasn't such a cake available. This was my only disappointment with the service, and it was a small one in the grand scheme of things. The wedding day would not have gone as smoothly if it weren't for the coordinator Lauren, her assistant Cassie, and the staff at Mount Palomar! Lauren and Cassie answered any questions I had from the day I first toured Mount Palomar to the day before my wedding. Even though many people warn against just having a "venue coordinator," Lauren was essentially a "day-of-coordinator." Lauren contacts all your other wedding vendors prior to the wedding day, and can help you plan out and coordinate the wedding timeline. We were also able to drop off any of our DIYs (card box, engagement photos, favors, etc.) for the staff to set up for us on the wedding day. So many guests commented on how beautiful the venue was, and that my wedding was the classiest one they've ever been to. I highly recommend considering Mount Palomar as your wedding venue! read more

Went for a walk at this winery to check out their wedding venue and it was set up for a wedding sometime that day. No one was around so we just gazed upon the possibility. When a woman without a mask appeared and yelled at us to leave she claimed to the wedding director.. then she started complaining about us just checking out the area. We were doing nothing not touching anything there was no signs to indicate we should not enter, it was empty. I definitely will never go their nor would I recommend a wedding if the director shows such reprehensible behavior to customers. read more

This winery is ok. Went to a wedding on May 26 and the service was ok. I can't eat fish so when I was asked if I wanted salmon, I kindly said no and the lady rolls her eyes at me. I thought that was rude. I liked their pasta salad and rice, when I asked my husband to get me some more rice he came back saying the lady rejected him and no seconds were allowed. There were lots of people who wanted second and the servers actually said no second and cleaned up the buffet right away. I was shocked since I'm sure they will throw away the left over food. There were lots of left over food too. Never been to a wedding where I got rejected for seconds. The service here was ok. Probably could have been better. They also offer tequila. -$20-6 tastings. -James is their winemaker -This is the only winery with full liquor license - At 1pm their tequila partner, Asombroso, sets up shop at the outside patio area. -The Velluto- Double gold medal winner is similar to Riesling. It's not too sweet. -Shorty's bistro is one of my favorite -The Brut sparkling wine is designed by Rutherford (Napa Valley) and its very good. -Castelleto Sangiovese has a nice smoky flavor. -Try the Bistro Red for easy drinking. I just had to get a bottle! -To finalize your tasting, I recommend the Limited Tawny port. They give you a Hershey's kiss to go along with it. Delicious! First time in Temecula and of course being a Wino, I can't pass up an opportunity to go wine tasting... This was our first stop on our wine tasting adventure and glad we came here first. The staff were friendly. The ambiance was nice and pleasant. We went on a Sunday so it was not crowded at all. I can see this place getting packed considering the bar is a bit small. I'm glad that it wasn't too busy so I can enjoy a great wine. To top it off with a great start, we get to keep our wine glass. SCORE! Not bad considering the price was $15 for 6 wine tastings. I love the wine glass. It has Mount Palomar written on it. Nice souvenir to take home and put to good use. My favorite of the wines is sangiovese. I liked it so much I came back the next day to get a 6 pack of that wine. I am itching to go back here. Mama needs to restock her wine rack. We were here on a Wednesday around 1PM and it was nice and slow not crowded at all. Ask for Lauren she's a sweetheart and very informative. She took great care of us. The location was beautiful. There's a lot of grounds to take a nice stroll on while sipping on some delicious wine. We got a great deal on Groupon that gave us 6 flights and 2 wine glasses to take home. There is also great views for some nice IG pictures. The wine selection was great. We stuck to their prize winning wines. Whites, reds and dessert wines too. This was our first time at Mount Palomar and it was just awesome and beautiful. They have an indoor cavernous tasting room and then right outside of that they have an outdoor tasting area. They have lots of seating outside and they also have a full bar and restaurant on site. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating. We had a large group and they sat us in the restaurant even though we were not all dining in. Kevin was our server and he was really, really great. He recommended their drink special of the day and it was scrumdiddlyumptious. Also, all the wine I tried was really tasty. You get 6 tastings for $18 but you can't keep the glass (bummer). I chose to do 2 reds, 2 whites and 2 dessert wines. Tastings were generous. The place itself is really gorgeous and serene and I look forward to returning upon future wine tasting adventures in Temecula, definitely a keeper. Going on a wine tour has been a goal of mine since the beginning of this year. After lots of planning and research, I was finally able to decide on a midweek trip to the Temecula Wine Valley for four wineries. Mount Palomar was the first of the four wineries I decided to try. DECO: 4 stars Mount Palomar is a Mediterranean style winery. When you first drive into the parking lot, it looks very underdeveloped. Most of the parking lot is unpaved gravel. However, don't let something like pavement discourage you from leaving your car. Once you step out, follow the signs to a courtyard with two statues of Nike (the goddess of victory, not shoes) at the ungated entrance. The plaza is beautiful. It looks like it belongs next to the soothing sprays of azure from the Mediterranean Sea. If not for the obvious fact you are in a desert, you would almost be able to visualize it. Rustic stone and marble make up the floor plan, as cypress trees and rosemary bushes line the borders of the plaza. However, with the sun beaming down on your face and back, no ocean air is present to cool you down. Instead, go further in until you find two large wooden doors that lead to the tasting room. Once you step inside the tasting room, you are welcomed with a cool breeze, mahogany shading, and the smell of wine in the air. Depending on what time you come in the day, you can also hear all the crackling and pops of the food cooking in the kitchen. The room isn't very large. There is one large "L" shaped bar to the right of the entrance and a smaller "I" shaped bar to the left near the kitchen. In the middle of the tasting room are wine barrels and displays showing off the wine that Mount Palomar makes and are available for purchase. At the "L" shaped bar, there are shelves of wine bottles; one area displays several wines tagged with the ribbons Mount Palomar have won in competitions. The room is very soothing to the eyes and the atmosphere is relaxing compared to the blinding heat and glare outside. WINES: 4 stars First off, I'm not a wine expert. I know a few things here and there (the importance of smell to taste, acidity, full body), but no where near what you would call "knowledgeable" when it comes to wine. But that's okay. As I learned sampling wine at Mount Palomar, the best thing to do is listen to what your server has to say about the wines and have them help cater to your flavors. I tried six different wines and they were mighty good. With each wine I tried, I slowly started to get textures and flavors I usually wouldn't get from drinking wine at home. Full bodies became clear, and the enjoyment of a good, lingering taste was welcomed. I ended the sampling with a dessert wine, drinking a decadent cream sherry that was accompanied by chocolate. It's amazing how pairing a certain wine can accentuate flavors of food. That chocolate tasted amazing. SERVICE: 4 stars Being the only group at the time doing a tasting, the service was very intimate. Sandy, our server (I think that's her name?), was friendly and encouraged us with our wine adventure. She explained each wine with fervor, and seemed delighted to share with us some knowledge. She was always on the ball and never snickered or sneered at our comments. Even better, she was more than willing to help take pictures for us and even indulge us on some history of the place. The best part, she didn't push hard to try and sell us bottles of wine. That was great because I hate getting pushed items to buy. The service was overall friendly, personal, and informational. PRICE: 5 stars If you go midweek like I did, the pricing for a six wine sampling is $10 per person. It is such a great deal for the quality of the wine you'll drink and the service you'll get. Even better, you get to keep the logo wine glass you use during the taste sampling after you're done. You get a souvenir without having to buy anything extra. CONCLUSION Mount Palomar is a great winery to start or end your wine trip. If you start, you beat all the crowds, get a personal taste sampling with plenty of information that'll carry over to your future tastings, and also take some time to prepare yourself for the rest of the day. If you end your wine trip here, the place looks like it'd be amazing during dusk and sunset. With a hill that overlooks the Temecula Wine Valley, a sunset from here will look gorgeous. Not to mention the hiss of roaring fire towers, gentle streams of water falling in fountains, and a lively Mediterranean influenced plaza, Mount Palomar is a beautiful winery to be at night. read more

My husband and I came to the winery for the restaurant, above all else. The menu at this establishment is beyond delicious. We ordered octopus, a favorite of my husband's, hard to find done right. I swear, and this is no exaggeration, this was the most tasty, tender seafood dish we have ever shared. I joked the octopus must be pressed chicken, it was that tender and perfect. Don't gag. You didn't sense suckers, no chewiness, no brined off-taste. Seriously, a perfect dish. I ordered the smoked salmon chowder, which was amazing to the last spoonful, full of smoked salmon -- not just a flake or two, but FULL of chunks of salmon. We also had calamari, and my husband had a chicken sandwich with truffle fries. Both were remarkable. Our server, Angie, was attentive, and pleasant, a really genuine gift of a server. We have all had those people going through the motions; she was the exact opposite. She made the trip even that much more wonderful. Do yourself a favor and go! I bought a 2 for 1 groupon special for 6 tastings and cheese or hummus plate. With the exception of one friendly young, petite lady with black hair, the others were just mehhh...not very friendly or inviting. What I did enjoy was the grapevines and view as I drove in. Parking was ample, but confusing because there was signs and arrows everywhere. The water fountains along the walkway and stream were tranquil. There was ample outdoor seating and a shaded patio area with a bar. No sign led us to the tasting room, but process of elimination told us it had to be near the outdoor patio. The tasting room was small, dark, and danky. Several people blocked the entire counter and paced around the small area, so there was a wait to check in. Although check-in was conveniently done via our cell phones, this was the first time...EVER...at any winery that my friends and I also had our id's scrutinized. That was a bit much, I thought. The gentleman who checked us in slid a table number to me, explained what food we could purchase, and gave us a receipt for tastings and told us to go outside. Nevertheless, my friends and I moved over to the next counter and selected our first tastings before heading outdoors. Two of my friends enjoyed the hummus. I had no idea what cheeses were on my plate because they were never explained. The croutons and cheeses weren't memorable. I indulged in the variety of sweet wines. Cream sherry was my favorite. It had a thick caramel flavor that I loved. Bottles seemed very pricey compared to other wineries, so I didn't purchase one. :( From what I could view, I thought this could have been one of the prettiest wine grounds I've visited. Mount Palomar was our 3rd and final stop on our limo trip through Temecula. By this time, I'm not gonna lie...we were loopy. No ifs, ands or buts. We were there for food because unlike some of the other wineries in the 'hood, they had not only the requisite meat/cheese/crackers platters but also a small kitchen making sandwiches, salads and pizzas. Of course prices were a little more than what you typically pay for a sandwich on a styrofoam plate but when you've been drinking and need food to sop up all the alcohol, you don't complain. The wines weren't bad either. I did love the Cloudbreak and had myself a double pour of that lovely red wine. Our pourer Steve was funny and helpful, even when we were clearly out of our minds. Mount Palomar had a great outdoor picnicking area, complete with headless angel statues and pretty flowers. This would be a great stop #2, between being sober and completely fall down drunk. There was a live band setting up and plenty of seating to go around. As a final stop, it was hard to tear ourselves away. We bought a bottle or two to share in the shade and found it difficult to heed the call of our limo driver. It was only when we were threatened with an additional charge that we dragged our mellow butts out of Mount Palomar. read more

The grounds were still pretty but the wines weren't good. We did a tasting and did not find one out of all of the choices comparable to other nearby wineries. The guy who helped us was not warm or friendly and seemed to have memorized the description of each wine but his delivery was rote and uninspired. The tasting room was also sub par for the area. The ahi soba is my favorite dish here. Service is always first rate. Live music on the weekends is very nice. They also have decent options for kids which is lacking at many of the winery restaurants. Tip: Get the fruit not fries. It's a huge bowl with lots of yummy berries! They do have construction happening on a portion of the property which impacts views from the restaurant, but that is temporary and shouldn't discourage you from coming. They are adding a lake! People are so friendly and remember you too. I love the atmosphere a lot! I feel comfortable bringing our child and feel like it's kid friendly. This place is also great for meetings & maybe just to get some work done on your laptop. The food is delish & they also serve cocktails. This winery is great! My husband has shared many memories here with a former boss - now after going as a couple, we were sold on the membership! The lovely weddings venue and tasting room - both indoor and outdoor are lovely and cozy! And the wine was divine. This is one of my favorite wineries in Temecula. Its a beautiful location that seems to be constantly changing for the better. I enjoy the landscaping, steps, and outdoor bar area. Their wines are also pretty tasty with the Rose being one of my favorites. I recently went to check out one of the summer nights concerts here. I had not been to the location where they hold there concerts before but was pleasantly surprised. There was an outdoor bar, a food station, a small stage and ample seating. There were also a few tables set up for a higher price but I personally think the view is good from most of the chairs. It was a real laid back vibe which made it great. I didn't think the cover band was very good and the prices for drinks seemed raised but I still had a very good time. Walk towards the vineyards up here and you'll get a fabulous view of wine country. read more

Loved it at Mt Palomar!! The view is amazing, the sitting area was perfect, and loved the live music playing. Can't forget to mention the wine!! Went home with 2 bottles! We went on Sunday 06/28/2020 and had the best outing since the pandemic. Jacob was great and very informative about the wine club and am so glad we joined!! Originally we planned to visit two or three vineyards a day while we were in Temecula, CA, but found that taking it slow was preferable to the over drinking and fatigue of rushing to cover more ground. So, we spent our time going to one winery a day and doing other things during the afternoon that did not involve alcohol. Mount Palomar Winery was one that remained on our list. It was a beautiful place that reminded of the rolling hills of Tuscany, in large part because the architecture and landscaping brought that to mind. The approach by car drove through front acreage of grapes before the vista opened up to long, tall, thin evergreens, high fences and ultimately outdoor seating areas under roof, aqua umbrella and wood pergola. The Temecula Valley is hot and semi-arid, and escape from the sun was essential for both the grapes and us. The entrance to the tasting room is behind the nearest area with tables and chairs, and once inside, the relieving coolness of the darkened room was the first thing noticed and appreciated. Approaching the counter where folks stand to sample the wines, the attractive attendants waited for us to inquire about their available vintages. A list was provided; a fee paid; and 6 choices available among the whites and reds Palomar produces. Of those we sipped and contemplated, the Sangiovese was most outstanding and demanded a purchase. Thereafter, we asked about their Port, aged 10 years in special oak barrels, creating a creaminess and near-syrup consistency with amazing flavor profile that benefited greatly from a bit of chocolate on the tongue before the gentle sucking through pursed lips of the tawny elixir. That Port was the best thing we drank in Temecula, even though we were aided only by foiled Hershey Kisses. Yup. We took a couple of bottles of that gorgeous black glass home with us, too. The Wine Club deal offered decent discounts on purchases throughout the year, and was tempting, but without the possibility of shipping to Pennsylvania, just didn't make sense for us. I came here for a birthday celebration today on the 4th at 1:30om and I had The best service at the restaurant!!! Every single person at this restaurant on this shift is so friendly, so attentive. food is Soo good !! Truffle fries are to die for! But what really made our experience was the best mixologist D'on Harris!!! The drinks he created for us was so original, so creative, so refreshing and over all so so pleasing to sip on. I cannot recommend him enough and I will always recommend Palomar winery restaurant. 10 stars out 5. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making our day great! PS! Everyone on this shift needs recognitions for their great work and a raise on top of that. read more

We spent a perfect Saturday afternoon listening to Rene, he performed Latin Soul and was excellen. People were on the dance floor in spite of the heat. We ordered food And a bottle of wine. The food was a little pricey but tasted good. I would definitely return. read more

It's a beautiful location. We were there on a Sunday afternoon with perfect weather. The tasting area was not crowded. What could be better? Well, the wines. That's the problem with most wines coming out of Temecula. Wrong grapes. The collection of 6 wines in the tasting really sat heavy on the stomach. Speaking of that, if you can stomach the wines, they give you big ass pours for your $20. Since I really wanted proper tasting pours, a single tasting could have been shared with several people. We love Mount Palomar Winery! The Restaurant is soooo good! The staff is extremly friendly and outgoing. This time we tried the lobster roll. It was delicious. My husband got the burger, best burger EVER! Cooked perfectly, juicy, super flavorful!! Truffle Fries are alway a must when we come here. My husband also loved their whiskey flight. read more
